Wish I could say this location has improved but in fact it has gotten worse. I came here for a BOGO Uber Eats special on the grilled veggie burrito (self-pickup). One of them contained only one veggie--zucchini--while normally there are carrots and some others making this my favorite item. Not only that but they left out the guacamole, cheese, and corn salsa entirely! I didn't know that until I got home, of course. The rice was a bit crunchy on top of that. Yeck. I did catch though, before leaving the store, that my order was missing the 5 oz. container of salsa that I paid for so was able to ask for that. I didn't bother about not getting any free chips that were supposed to come with it all. The way a once-popular chain has dwindled down to a handful of locations would suggest the closures are due to an overall decline in quality. This location is tired, dirty, no fountain drinks, their hood was off so the inside is smelly and sticky. Storing consumables in view and on the salsa bar. My fish tacos were good but my friend's salad didn't have the advertised romaine but iceberg. It's so noisy. Not because there are lots of people talking and laughing and great music playing. No, they have industrial fans in the ceiling that make the place sound like a workshop. So noisy. From the time I entered, ate, and left, not a sole came into the restaurant. No wonder! I will never go there again. I felt bad for the people that worked there exposed to the noise every day. I would give them 3.5 stars. Very friendly staff and decent food! I usually come here for the carne asada fries. I love that they give complimentary chips and salsa :) The carne asada is very tender! However, the seasoning is somewhat bland. I definitely needed to add some sauce. The fries are a bit on the fluffy and soggy side, which I like. The melted cheese is good, but I wish they put more. They ran out of their usual cheese when I was there too, so maybe that's why. I have also tried their Una Mas Burrito and there was no cheese or sour cream inside... so it was very dry. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in San Jose! I've visited a few times and have had a wonderful experience each time with the food and service. I typically LOVE Una Mas. Anyone in my family will tell you it's my go to - especially for the Soup Combo! However, I just ordered for the first tome through Uber Eats to deliver to my work. 1st, on the App, the combo says it comes with soup and a Taco (at the restaurant it comes with soup, taco, & a drink) but I was ok with that since work provides beverages. You also have to pay extra on the app for choosing chicken & avocado (at the restaurant it comes that way- no paying extra). Here's the kicker: I received my order, excited, but only received the soup, no taco. So then hungry as I was, I open the soup to find that 75% of the small bowl was all liquid. Hardly anything solid. Good thing is came with chips, I ate the 8 little chunks of chicken, avocado & tortilla strips, then broke up the chips and dumped them in the juice to soften them up a lil and ate that! Like a Chipotle, of course this isn't "authentic" Mexican food and I did not order anything Mexican. Per the Lunar calendar, last Thursday was veggie day and that means no meat, no seafood, and no eggs so my choices are somewhat limited. I was trying to be healthy. A combo meal (1 slice of pizza, a salad, and a drink) is $8 but for some reason I was being cheap so I ended up here at Una Mas. The place gets busy at lunch and tables filled up rather quickly. Ordering and paying for your food doesn't take long but the food took some time so if you are on a time constraint, consider your options before coming here. The menu is extensive- enchiladas, taquitos, tacos, burritos, soups, salads, etc., etc. but after careful consideration and a recommendation from the lady that took my order.. I went w/ the verde salad. It is under $5! Well, w/ tax it is a little over $5 but the thing is huge! A $2 savings if you compare the salad w/ Specialty's Cafe and Bakery. The jalapeño vinaigrette was not spicy at all but other than that, the romaine lettuce, the black beans, the shredded cheese, the pico de gallo, and the crispy tortilla strips were fresh and tasted super delicious. For a split second I was telling myself I would order this again on a regular "meat" day but that was out of pure taste delusion. It was that good! He includes a bag of stale tortilla chips, and lets me choose a water bottle from the fridge. (Gatorades are off limits.) Verdict on taste: I didn't finish the burrito. The food is good but their billing is not honest. When you pay by credit card, they hid the service charge and showed as Tax on the credit card machine. If you print the actual receipt, it then showed you the shop has charged you 3% fixed fee on after tax amount. Yes, I read all prior reviews. Yes, I see that most are not favorable to this establishment. The owner is very kind and has great customer service skills. The person who prepares the food does a great job and it's always prepared in a timely matter.
