We took a team here I have 20+ and the boys ate every morsel put out in front of them! They had stuffed ravioli, red and white sauce with penne noodles, and pizza. This was alright. I feel like I can't say too much since I am a vegan who walked into a pizzeria. I got the hummus plate with pita bread and a glass of Zinfandel. The hummus was so acidic I could feel the acid hit my mouth right away. Maybe the hummus had been sitting with the lemon juice for too long. That's what it felt like. The pita bread... Oh the pita bread... The top third of it all was great. The bottom 2/3 should have been considered pita chips. I considered ordering a pizza without cheese, so I bet that would have been better. The wine glasses are something like if find at my grandma's house. Thick, large, and break proof. It's not really a wine spot. But with some of their happy hours, can't pass it up! We came here when it was Ember & Still (which we did not like) and we really weren't impressed now that it's Crust Pizzeria. Without going into much detail, our server would've done better if he was asleep. At every opportunity he fumbled the ball... refilling water, refilling soda, getting empty salad bowls out of the way, bringing the to-go box we asked for. Honestly it was pathetic service. The pizza was OK. Seemed a bit bland even for the topping we ordered. With so many different choices for pizza along the coast, this probably wouldn't make it into our top 20. read more

The main meal was delicious, but the service was unfortunate. The wait time for the drinks was so long we had to go to the bar - then the wait time for the food was ridiculously long - there was no one checking up on us, we had to ask multiple times. Finally it came, but all together (the salads were supposed to come first). We were told they were understaffed, but it was a weekday and the restaurant wasn't full. It became apparent after a while that they were making the "take out" orders first. Our pizzas were not even in the oven, after 45 minutes, because of the many take out pizzas that went in first. That's unfortunate because we're having drinks, leaving a tip, paying for the dining experience. And no offer to give us anything complementary - a drink, a small dessert - would have been nice. I love this place!! This is the best pizza I have had in San Diego. I'm from Boston & I'm sorry - but I haven't had any good pizza out here until Crust. This is the only pizza I eat now. Everything else we have had has been great, too (house salad, appetizers, meatballs, breakfast pizza's). They use high quality ingredients & you can taste the difference. Crust has a great atmosphere - it's a perfect local place to watch a game with the numerous, large tv's (we even watched the Superbowl there) but also a family friendly place. There is a pet friendly patio with heaters & TV's & 2 large private rooms. They have AMAZING daily specials - 1/2 off cocktails on Saturdays, $10 mimosas from 10am-4pm on Sundays, HH every day. Oh, and the staff is awesome! They are so friendly & they have become like friends now! I came here with my Dad and my daughter and we ordered the Ana pizza and had them add jalapeños to half of the pizza. The pizza was great and this place actually makes hand tossed pizza so it takes about 15-20 minutes for the pizza to be ready. It also has a rather large size bar and it was loud when we came in due to a large group there but there was other areas away from the bar that were less noisy and we sat there. They were even nice enough to change the channel on the TV near us since I wasn't all that keen on watching sports. Overall we liked this place. The staff were very nice and courteous but just be careful of the stand that they bring the pizza on. I wasn't careful and almost knocked my pizza off that metal stand when grabbing a slice! It would have tossed the entire pizza on the floor so watch out for that metal stand they bring the pizza on or maybe just have them not bring it on that stand. Great pizza! read more

Yes, we back for the a 2nd time and the service we were given was excellent and deserves five stars. The owner Matt made us feel so comfortable and paid attention to every detail. We took are entire family and they were all very happy. All my daughter s had no complaints and enjoyed the food. We started off with there bread which is a must have. Then they each ordered appetizers we started off with the calamari and wings which were excellent and a must taste. To continue we order the caprese, kale salad and the penne pasta. We also order dessert which was Excellent. Lava cake and Road Rash were a great way to end are dinner experience. We will definitely be back. Real disappointment to place an order for delivery only to be told my item is not available and I should choose a replacement. Then after replacing the item twice I had to call to find out they closed the kitchen long ago because the owner said it was "too slow". Thank you Yelp for reminding me to review this place. If you're not a regular here, you won't get good or Top Notch service. When we walked in, everybody looked at us like we didn't belong, even the female bartender. The only person that had some class was Sawyer. He was very kind and continued to check on us even though he was not our server. The bartender was a middle aged woman by the name of Joelle or Noelle I believe.... Frizzyish brunette reddish hair, RBF and a really bad attitude with us. We were very nice to her. We noticed she was XXXTRA friendly with the old drunken men/crew that were obviously regulars. She had this attitude as if serving and helping out the other staff were beneath her. My husband had ordered a BYO pizza and he had asked her from across the bar if the pizza came with cheese since it was a BYO pizza and she never asked what kind of cheese he wanted. When he asked her a question, she just looked at him like he was an idiot, nodded her head yes and walked away. He mentioned to her later how she made him feel without making it a huge deal and her response was, "oh that's just how my face looks". Ok, although you have RBF doesn't mean you have to be rude. I usually go to the one in Carlsbad, but went to the Solana Beach location with my boys tonight after running errands in the area. The food was amazing like always, but was not pleased with the lack of attention and effort from our server (MJ?). We waited patiently then had to flag a few people down for small items we had asked for before. When we asked if we had a server after waiting for 15 minutes, the hostess explains "I'll go get her, she's kind of iffy tonight." Not impressed and will stay away from this location. read more

I saw this place a couple of weeks ago and decided to take my wife and daughter here to try it out. I must say the noise level was extremely loud. People going back and forth from bar to seats talking like they're at a noisy concert or something. Food was excellent though and service ok. Had a delicious chopped salad and a couple of pies. Tasty. I think it would help if the bar and seated areas were separate. We personally try to avoid places that have out of control children and oblivious parents. In this case it was a crew of raucous 30 something's celebrating a birthday and using the whole restaurant to do so!! I'll order food to go. And may dine in again to give y'all another chance. This review is about a month overdue. While visiting Del Mar in early November, I ordered a pizza and salad from Crust Pizzeria. Unfortunately, my order was delivered without utensils. I was staying at a small inn, it was late, and I had no access to utensils. Needless to say, it was frustrating staring at that salad, which looked delicious, with no utensils. I assumed I would just wind up tossing the salad (yes, I do see the joke there) and devour the pizza, but I decided to contact the restaurant to inform them of the mistake. I was pleasantly surprised by the host who answered my call (I believe her name is either Stephanie or Samantha; let's call her Stephantha). Stephantha went above and beyond the call of duty and offered to personally deliver utensils to the hotel after her shift. I told her it was absolutely not necessary and that I appreciated the offer, but she insisted. Within 30 minutes, Stephantha arrived with utensils, napkins, salad dressing and a free dessert for the inconvenience. It was like the sweetest gesture ever - we hugged. I don't really post much on Yelp, but this young woman's customer service was so stellar, I felt compelled to acknowledge her efforts - even a month later! I certainly hope the owner and/or manager(s) of Crust Pizzeria appreciate what a gem they have working with them and reward her efforts. Oh, and the pizza and salad were yummy! read more

UNDERSTAFFED! 3.5 STARS due to this reason but the staff tries their best. Not everyone can enjoy a leisurely lunch and it has been this way since they opened so if you you are in a hurry call in for take out. Did you change the kids chicken strips & are using a different mozzarella ??? Are the strips made in house anymore? Just know that if kids are at the table & fries are ordered bring on the ketchup.
