What a fabulous dining experience!! As soon as you come through the door you are greeted with a huge smile!! The place was clean, the food was spectacular and the atmosphere was electric!!! Been here 3 times. Pizza okay, crust I yummy... hence the name! way over priced to add just one item and they put a few pieces of that item on for several dollars, no one who works there smiles or seems happy to be working there. Overall good is generally OK... but what does that really say for the pricing on things these days. Everything in Solana Beach is overpriced! I have always been very "please and thank you" at every restaurant I go to..and understanding of working in restaurants since I did it for 6 years. Maybe just don't go in on a Sunday! Still tipped 20% although they charged and put NO PEPPERONI on the PiZza i could go on and say they were understaffed... but 3 times over a year.. I decided I wanted pizza for dinner on National Pizza Day! (of course) I had already been to another Crust location and enjoyed it so I thought it would be good to check out the one close to my new house. It is a huge space, great for big parties. There happened to be a big party there the night my husband and I went. And they had another big party that had just left. So it took quite a bit of time for us to get our food and drinks. The service, however, was great. They were very nice and very apologetic to us for having to wait. They even offered us a free app (we got a dessert instead) and a free 2nd round of drinks (we declined.) The pizza is really good. I ordered the Hawaiian pizza, the Leilani, and it had lots of pineapple on it! The crust was the best part about it, not too doughy and not too thin. My husband got a plain cheese, which he really liked. They also brought us dough triangles with a red dipping sauce. So yummy! The dessert was a lava cake with ice cream. Super yummy! I also really enjoyed my drink. It was called The Deuce and it tasted like an alcoholic Arnold Palmer. I would definitely go back and check it out again. They have happy hour and a large bar in the main room. There are also tons of TVs so this would be a great place to watch sports. read more

"Meh. I've experienced better." is probably the best way to describe this place... at least for the time that I went. Food lacked flavor but the staff was incredibly cheery and awesome. The most shocking part of the experience was that we sat in the back of the restaurant, and there were SO many fruit flies!!!!! I feel bad for calling the restaurant out for this, but they have to get those little guys under control. They were swarming our table. I ordered the beet salad. Which was A-OK but not great. Comes with blue cheese, candied walnuts, and two kinds of beats. The crispy artichoke appetizer wasn't bad. But still not great. Perhaps we came on an off night? With the number of kids running around on a Friday night it felt like Pizza port. The problem is the noise was not offset by a good beer choice or good pizza. They had Sculpin but the carbonation was off. And the happy hour food is a scam if you don't choose the $2 off pizza. Half price for half servings (HH = $6 for 6 wings. Menu = $11 for 12 wings)? The pizza here is so good! The crust, as the name indicates, does not disappoint. It is crispy, not too thick, and topped with SO MUCH CHEESE. My mouth just watered thinking about it. I also had the meatball, which comes with the most amazing sauce, and also their brussel/cauliflower dish is SSSSOO good. Like, veggies at a pizza place? YES. Trust. My friend and I ate here for happy hour recently on a Monday. The wine was excellent! We also enjoyed the calamari, which was prepared so authentically. Finally, the pizzas are all amazing! Even though it was a busy night and we were told that service would be slow, we really felt taken care of. Upon being seated at our table for 6. I had to have them sweep the floor as it was covered in French fries and pizza crust. The place is nice and setup to allow for families to have a nice meal together. Good selection the only draw back was the service. Generally you would get a family meal all at once. We waited more than five to ten minutes between each person getting their entree. I enjoyed my chicken Marsala and the kids liked their food. Just think some better supervision over these ATDs would make it a better experience. read more

Great friendly staff , easy parking. Great happy hour menu and the Wednesday 50% off wine bottles is a winner for those of us who sip a bit. The food especially the pizza ROCKS . The Sports coverage is also a nice addition with the TV's. There is a side room used for parties that routinely have youth groups/athletes and Parents sharing a catered buffet spread. It is always nice to see them and the camaraderie that exudes. It may well be the Solana beach equivalent of "Cheers " in Boston with a view and real menu! Go and have fun! read more

It is New Years Eve, and let me note this order was placed at 5pm so not like it was during a dinner rush - and I am so disgusted that I gave this business my money - Currently in SD county all restaurants are under order to be take out only, because we have zero ICU capacity. I have many healthcare workers in my family who are risking their lives to care for all of the Covid patients in San Diego - apparently this doesn't matter to this restaurant owner. I called in an order and my husband went to pick it up - to his dismay, the restaurant had lots of patrons INSIDE, NO masks and drinking. Because he didn't want to disappoint our family waiting for the food he quickly paid - outside - as he wouldn't dare risk going inside amongst a bunch of maskless patrons - and took the food. When he got home half of the order was missing!! By time he had to go back and get the other half of the order and return it was another 40 minutes and all of the food was cold and ruined, so I honestly have no idea if the food here is any good. Even though they knew they completely screwed up the entire order and the food was all cold and inedible absolutely no compensation was offered at all. Not even an apology for the complete screw up. What business does this? We still generously tipped the employees because we know they can't control what the owner does - but the owners of this restaurant clearly have no concern for the community they are in, and this was just a horrible experience all around. The fact the owner doesn't care about the community at all is really all you need to know about this business. Never again!! read more

The thrill is gone...my husband and I were loyal customers since Crust opened, including for takeaway all through Covid. We liked the idea of supporting a local business and the food, while never stellar, was adequate. We ate there at least once a week. During our last few visits, we noticed the service had fallen off and the children permitted to run amok with alarming regularity , unchecked by the staff, made a relaxing dinner impossible. The most significant issue for me though was the food shaming I was subjected to, on several occasions, by one of the long-time female servers. At one dinner I ordered the meatball sub. This server actually said these words to me "you ate that whole sandwich??" Worse than this was me finding myself justifying to her by explaining that I shared it with my husband when I should really have called her out for her inappropriate comments. At another visit, when I ordered a salad, this same server said "oh, you're finally eating healthy tonight!" After that, no more Crust for me. read more

I've been there few times and it was all right but my last experience was terrible. Ordered 12' pizza to go, I've been told to pay at the bar. Since place was kinda busy I was okay waiting 20 min, then another waiter asked me what I'm waiting for. Showed up that they didn't process my order yet. Waited another 10 minutes for bill and paid cash. After 40 minutes got finally pizza - I ordered 12' but got '10 instead, but decided to ignored that, because I was in hurry. Guy who showed up with my pizza asked if I already paid, I said yes, showed him receipt and left. He ran after me and accused me that I didn't pay. In that moment I lost my nerve and told him that if they can't cooperate with other workers that's not my problem. If you don't want to be treated like you don't matter please never come to this place! The worst customer service experience so far. read more

I'm a loyal customer, but check your order if ordering pizza "to go". On 3 consecutive "to go" orders I have been missing half of the toppings. Super bummer. Ordered food through DoorDash for pickup and when I got home, realized that they didn't dress my salad or give me the dressing. Typically, no big deal but honestly, a container of Romaine lettuce is hardly a sufficient dinner. Tried to call to speak with a manager because they hadn't closed out my order in DoorDash. Hostess said there wasn't a manager working- which I find sort of odd for a restaurant on a Saturday night. Then she said a server wasn't available to speak with at the moment either. We hung up the phone. I called back and tried to speak with a manager again - or anyone else really, and after sitting on the phone while she placed it on the table for about 5 minutes, the phone magically got disconnected. Called back a third time - they transferred me to the bar (...?). Whoever I spoke with was nice and said he would take care of the order. Haven't seen that happen yet. Additionally, they still haven't closed out my order through DoorDash and I still can't contest it through the app. Pretty bummed to say the least and unfortunately due to the lack of customer service from the hostess (ok.. lack of competence) I likely won't be going back. read more

I actually teach at the dance studio next door. All of the faculty and most of the dance families have all eaten from Crust. I have never heard anyone say they didn't love it! The food is delicious and the staff is super nice, helpful and efficient. Crust is also supportive of business neighbors like us. Merci! They worst thing about this place is smelling the deliciousness while you wait (or teach and cannot eat yet lol)- it can whip you into a hunger frenzy. I came here at around 7 on Friday night,the reason I particularly selected this place was that they offer vegan cheese (Daiya). The young women at the front counter didn't really seem professional and one of the girls said they were going to check if any seating was available and never came back. It wasn't until a woman serving food noticed my boyfriend and I standing outside the building waiting for a table and offered us seats at the bar. Fortunately the gentleman at the bar provided great service to redeem the customer service factor. Our pizzas came out in a timely manner and both the "Karla" and my vegan pizza were delicious.
