I went with my girlfriends last week. The food was Ok and the service was OK. It was Saturday night and they were busy and it was very noisy and crowded and not enough waiters/waitresses. The calamari and pizza were mediocre. I am 100% Italian and I live in Little Italy and so I am very picky and I know what really good pizza and calamari tastes like. I lived in Italy and have eaten in real Italian neighborhoods like New York and Jersey and Philly and Boston etc. Of course my mama was a great cook. Places like Crust, an average American restaurant, try to be Italian and sadly usually fail at their attempt. I ordered the small veggie pizza for $10 and I asked for Portobello mushrooms which was extra, I should have asked how much. I assumed perhaps $2 extra. Then when I got the check it was $17.50 for a $10 pizza plus tax should be about $11 plus the mushrroms $13 at the most, but I still gave the waitress a nice tip. That means they charged me $6.50 for a few extra tiny pieces of mushrooms. I should have complained to the manager right away & he probably would have fixed it. He was a nice man and was sitting near the bar. But I was tired and ready to go home. The calamari was Ok. I Iiked the sauces but the pieces were tiny. The pizza had no flavor at all and the sauce was just plain tomato paste spread on the dough. I asked for salt pepper and olive oil to make it taste better. I suggest the cooks look online for homemade Italian pizza sauce recipes. read more

Stumbled onto this place on the way to Lego Land. One of the best pizzas I've had and my picky kids loved it also! The pizza crust is amazingly good. I had a yummy lunch here before seeing a play at the North Coast Rep theater a few minutes away. The servers were so incredible friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the Sunday happy hour with items like $6 sliders (qty 3 in the order) and $5 Caesar salad with delicious garlic bread croutons. I also got the big slice combo with a slice of basil pizza and broccoli cheddar soup of the day. I went here for lunch with my coworker. Server greeted us and I think he was the only server because he was gone for a while! Restaurant was nice and big! Food was ok! I got a 1/2 Italian beef and 1/2 salad! The server spilled au jus all over my wallet! Nice way to start my meal! The Caesar salad had a different tasting dressing on it! Bread was fresh but too much for the sandwich! Carrots in it was still hard and raw. Think it should be softer?! Coworker pesto pizza tasted different from other pizzas. I work next door to this new restaurant so I had to try it. I thought to myself "we have enough pizza places in Solana Beach"... I was wrong! This pizza place is sooo good! I order the lunch special it's $10 and you get a pizza slice (Huge) and a Cesar salad. I can't even finish the whole thing, I save the salad for dinner. Cesar salad is spicy just the way I like it. Walked In at 6:57 - seated immediately (very loud place) server came by, I order a beer - she asked if I wanted food, I said yes. We stopped in for an early dinner. The decor is local sports bar with several long tables in the bar and a number of TVs going. They have an outdoor patio and an inside dining room in addition to the bar area. Our server, Nikki B, was courteous and friendly. We got our beers and my wife ordered the Big Sexy Mac & Cheese. Not sure how sexy it was, but it certainly had plenty of cheese and she enjoyed. I had the spaghetti and meat balls and it was terrific. The sauce was just delicious. The meat balls were also great, tasty and moist and a generous serving. Prices are reasonable. What more can you ask? read more

After our Ceasar salad, we enjoyed a Savanna and a Monique. The Savanna ranks as one of the best BBQ chicken pizzas we have ever had. The Monique was just different enough while keeping with a traditional red pizza. Loved the sausage and ricotta combo.
