We're visiting from out of state and this is our first time in Florida. We decided it was a good idea to try Cuban food while in the area. I have a dairy allergy and the staff was so accommodating! She reassured me that they would clean the sandwich press which I appreciated. We got the regular Cuban sandwich and I got a cup of black bean soup and both were so good! I've never had a Cuban sandwich and I've been thinking about this one ever since. The prices were pretty good too. read more

Delicious food! Very reasonably priced! I ordered through grub hub and it was ready quickly! I got frejoles necrosis and ultimate Cuban sandwich for around $20! The reason for a reduction of a star is that I ordered a large frijoles negros (black bean soup) that was supposed to come with white rice and there was no white rice in my order. I think that if ordered in restaurant this mistake would not happen. read more

Best place in Downtown Orlando for Cuban Coffee. Mine is actually espresso as I take it without sugar. A colleague and I tried every place offering espresso downtown and this is our winner. They serve their omelette with fries and I'm not mad about it! The Cuban style ham croquettes were really good as well. Decent and moderately tasty food, quick service, but substandard portions for a $17 consisting of a small chicken breast and small portion of beans and rice. Also, I was frankly disappointed of the 'Miami-ization' of this establishment; a 4% on charge service charge that was not apparent until the tab was paid. This is a local mom & pop shop and you can tell as soon as you walk in - you are greeted with a wonderful hello & smile. I had ropa vieja & carne frita both flavorful & delicious. Small portions, over priced likely due to downtown overhead, slow service, no flavor. Ordered the chicken plate and paid an extra amount to sub for salad instead of rice. The salad was pitifully small. Had to add salt to beans and chicken and I HARDLY EVER add salt to food. The only thing that tasted like it "should" were the plantains. I won't be back. When I am wanting cuban food, I am expecting FLAVOR. read more

Too expensive for a Ham & Cheese ($5.99). Employees have very low energy, confused and slow service. This is a very average Cuban Cafe with a high rent to pay. I won't visit this place ever again. read more

This is a small hole in the wall Downtown Orlando located in the Fairwinds Bank Building on central. They are open for breakfast so a nice egg sandwich and coffee is always good. I usually go for lunch and the food is always fresh and the place is clean. It's very small and not a lot of seating but they seem to always make it work. read more

FINALLY. A delicious, authentic Cuban lunch conveniently found in the Central Business District. I had the Media Noche with Tostada en la plancha and a cafe con leche. Amazing! YELP WINS AGAIN! We were on vacation and in the area and looked at our phones looking for a decent place to eat. And as we were strangers in a strange land, we figured we would have food that is uncommon (or at least relatively uncommon) in our native land (Colorado). The food was wonderful! The only negative was that the location was not too easy to find, which also might be an asset to the restaurant. Small place but great food with barely enough seating. If I am back in Orlando, and visiting the Museum just a couple blocks away, I will be returning. read more

I work and eat downtown daily. I try and roll this spot into the lunch rotation to keep things fresh but each time I go there the woman at the register is a clear reminder of why I don't eat here often. I understand we all have good / bad days but don't make your customers feel like you're bothering them. I will add a video video of my customer experience next time ago. Hidden Gem! If you are not a local, this place can be hard to find. It's in the Fairwinds Credit Union building and there are no signs on the street. Small, quaint Pro-Cuban place with tables for eating in (or you can take away). I had the roasted pork with black beans, rice and plantains. The pork was ohhh so juicy and the plantains were delicious! Nothing fancy here, just a small cafe tucked away and serving primarily the employees in the building, but certainly worth the trip! read more

Eclectic little spot right off Ponce De Leon Blvd, so little we almost missed it. After finding some parking we walked up to what looked like an old bookshop to me. The smell inside was nothing short of amazing!! I got the Game 7 and it was to die for! It has chicken, some onions, Prosciutto, cheese, and the most yummy sauce! I even got some extra sauce on the side to dip my plantain chips in. They also do specialty coffees, espressos, etc. I sat outside which had a beach feel to it, paradise. Check this place out! First time here. Had a roasted pork sandwich which was awesome. Fresh pulled Cuban pork with lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Very good and fresh. The lunch platters looked really good too. The staff is very friendly and the coffee was great too. It was easier than I thought for access with parking under I-4. Try it. I'll take pictures next time. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant. Not only is the food consistently awesome the staff treats me as if I'm family and that is always a welcoming feeling when you visit them. The pork will melt in your mouth and even though they hate to, they cook my plaintains to death. (Just the way I like them) I do wish they would bring back the red beans on Thursdays but hey! a girl can't have everything. :-) Make sure you make it in to enjoy these folks great food. I've been coming for at least 7 years and will continue to come. read more

I love the food here. The Cuban sandwiches and the Pico de Gallo are great. And they offer food not easily found downtown. My problem with them, and the only reason they don't get 5 stars, is that I can't get waited on! Several weeks ago I went in, only one person ahead of me. But she was a very pretty young lady and the gentleman working the orders and cash register spent over 10 minutes talking to her. I finally left. Today I went in and there was no one waiting at the counter; just one person eating at a table. I waited 5 minutes. One of the cooks waved to me twice. The same gentleman was at the end of the counter reading something. I coughed twice. So I left again. I am sad to say I will not be back. The food is so very good. If they could get a little service to go with the food, they would have something special. I'm not saying don't eat here. Just saying don't be surprised if you don't get waited on. Unless you're a good looking young lady. Then you'll probably have no problems. read more

The nicest and most efficient quick lunch and delicious Cuban food. The owner is always present and assists with the food prep. She is super duper. Best time is to avoid the crowds and lines...off hours...usually 30min before or after the lunch crowd. You have to eat there for the "feel" - be sure to ask for the special "green" sauce which now has a bit more red to it. Spicy and yummy. Thanks! read more

The most disappointing chicken empanada I've ever had. At first glance, I was really excited because it was quite big and appeared to be stuffed full. When I bit into it, it was almost hollow.... After chipping away all the bread that didn't have chicken, I was left with less than a quarter of what I started with. Turkey sandwich was good. read more

I overly enjoy finding new restaurants, especially when they exceed my expectations! I was told by a friend of mine that I had to check out the hidden Cuban cafe in the Fairwinds building downtown. He said go in, all the way down the hall, make a right, then a left past the mailboxes... Well obviously you can see why I was interested. It was like a map to buried treasure and that is just what I found. This cafe is legit. Cuban food, extremely friendly staff and served quick! I went with coworkers on our treasure hunt. Easy to find, you just had to follow your nose as soon as you entered the building. My nose did not disappoint. This is a small little cafe with a lot of energy. The woman up front (I'm fairly certain she was the owner) was beyond sweet and took the time to give us her list of specials and elaborate on the various sandwich options on the menu board. I had one of the specials, bistec palomillo (flank steak and cooked onions), it came with a side of rice, beans and sweet plantains. One coworker had the same and the other tried the other special, ropa vieja (beef, potatoes, peppers, etc). All three of us could not be more delighted to have found a new favorite lunch spot. Do yourself a huge favor and take the treasure hunt!! They serve breakfast too. read more

This is a very good restaurant in Downtown Orlando that has excellent Cuban food. The staff is very nice and the food is really good. When I went here I ordered the pork special which came with pork, rice, beans, and plantains. The meal was very good and so were the sandwiches. This is a very good lunch spot in the lobby of the Fairwinds Credit Union building. I recommend it. read more

While I understand she was trying to address the concern, that response completely missed the point of customer service and recovery. One poor management interaction can change the entire experience. Unfortunately, because of how this situation was handled, I have to give this restaurant 1 star.

The interaction became uncomfortable, and the server continued to give us what felt like dirty looks for the remainder of our visit. The situation left us feeling unwelcome and ultimately made us want to leave.
