Most of the people in line are wearing board shorts, bikinis, or whatever they woke up in. Incoherently waiting for food in warm beautiful weather makes me wonder why I left California. Anyway... My ice-cold blended vanilla Cuban coffee and Key Wester sandwich were worth the cheat. The bread was so crunchy and soft and chewy and perfect. The line never got shorter and the small number of employees putting it all together so quickly was like a well-oiled machine. Definitely want to try more menu items. This is a cute coffee/ sandwich takeaway centrally located, unfortunately the chicken sandwich was terrible! The mangoes were not ripe! I ordered wheat bread, came in white. A Key West staple! Hidden in a tree covered little alley way, this is a great spot to start your morning. The Cuban coffee was fantastic, but the star was the guava and cream cheese over toasted Cuban bread. Not sure what made me gravitate towards ordering but happy that i did! We literally already had lunch a few hours ago but got a sandwich just to split while we drink our coffees and hide from the sun but I wish we didn't even eat lunch and had just come here We got the Cuban mix sandwich which has ham, pork, cheese, basically everything on it and the bread is crispy and there's so much flavor. Solid Cuban coffee. The iced Cafe con Leche uses coffee ice cubes instead of regular ice which is a big bonus. The staff (especially the roasters next door) are pretty friendly and very chill, helpful too. They have a charming outdoor table area with fans and shade albeit slightly limited seating with how popular they are. The Cuban Coffee Queen was a fantastic experience. Definitely glad that I decided to stop by based on an online recommendation. We visited Cuban Coffee Queen yesterday morning around brunch time. Since the location was on Duval Street, we expected a crowd, but it was even busier than we imagined so we had to wait a bit to place our orders (thankfully one of the restaurant's employees began taking orders for people in line while they waited). For our visit, we ordered the Cuban Queen Mix and a Cafe Con Leche. The Cafe Con Leche was excellent and very strong and the Cuban Coffee Queen Mix is probably one of the best sandwiches I've had while in Florida. The service and price for the food were also quite good. I will definitely visit again before I head back to the mainland. read more

The quality failed as bad as the service. The walk up window service was understandably rushed but the staff were not only overwhelmed but seriously under enthused. We stopped in for breakfast recently and tried a couple of their sandwiches and they were both amazing! The staff was very friendly, helpful, and even offered suggestions. They have an extensive Cubano menu with lunch and breakfast style sandwiches and they offer different styles of bread too, but their Cuban bread we found to be really good. They make everything fresh to order, so there might be a slight wait, but we didn't have to wait too very long. They also roast their own coffee beans and the Americano I tried was excellent, not bitter, with nice flavors and strength. Their hot sauce goes very nicely on their sandwich and definitely on their black beans & rice. The black beans & rice was an excellent side dish over the plantain chips too! Very busy chain in Key West area. Guessing the staff put the wrong name on my order as they called out for a small caramel coffee on Leche, but didn't have anything remotely close to what my name was. I Ordered a large caramel Café con Leche that not only did they not put the caramel in, but gave me a small. Informed the staff that they gave me the wrong size ever seeing an order had not been picked up and they told me was mine and they threw it into a larger cup and put a little bit more Milk in it. Staff was very rude. Coffee was bitter and watered down due to prolonged sitting. Ended up, throwing the coffee away because it was so bad. I've had plenty of cafe con leches in my day, and love them, but this was terrible. I blame it on the poorly remade coffee. read more

My husband and our 10 month old stopped at Cuban Coffee Queen per my sisters recommendation for an afternoon pick me up while exploring key west! Cuban Coffee Queen is an open pagoda with lots of picnic table seating. We got an iced coffee to share, a smoothie and a side of rice and beans. The iced coffee was a delicious and refreshing pick me up and the rice and beans were tasty as well. I've been coming to Cuban Coffee Queen since around 2010 and have always enjoyed their coffees and breakfast sandwiches. We started to come here because my husband heard they use coffee ice cubes in the iced coffees and said we had to try it (and never stopped since then). I didn't think such a small island could support two locations but after a few years we would skip Cuban Coffee Queen (by the marina) because it was was too busy with tourists. Right by our VRBO we loved the convenience. The coffee was excellent and the food was really good. We had the key wester with ham. The staff was so friendly. We've had a drink at Cuban Coffee before and not been disappointed. This morning we tried the breakfast sandwiches and were equally not disappointed. Excellent sandwich served hot and fresh. Love cafe con leche from other places since it's flavorful and delicious but I was sad to experience the balls taste of the coffee here. I just ordered the simple cafe con leche with sugar like I would at other places but it turned out not to have any flavor at all. It was like drinking hot water almost. Took a few sips and will likely throw the rest out. Definitely not worth the 7.93 that I spent on it. I normally don't but decided to go back and see how they would handle a request to have the drink replaced with it being so bland. I was met with contempt and passive aggressive look that said you ordered what you ordered. I mentioned that the cafe con leche at other coffee shops have flavor and are delicious and there that was met with ours is just milk and coffee. They did make another iced drink with vanilla in replacement but it wasn't done very nicely so the 2 star review stands. read more

I'm sad. The reason? I just finished off the last cup of coffee grounds from Cuban Coffee Queen. Well, let's take a step back first to February when I had visited Key West and first tried this glorious coffee spot with extremely tasty results. On our first morning in the Keys, we actually veered towards a different (though still lovely) coffee shop. It was the next morning (and the one after that) where the Coffee Queen truly reigned supreme. There's a couple of locations for CCQ, but this semi-hidden coffee hut is off of Duval and/or Southard Street (or in Key Lime Square as the pathway is called). It's easy to find because if you see someone walking with a black and yellow spiraled straw, then you know you've found the place. It's all outdoor covering with a handful of tables, plenty of roaming roosters, and quite possibly a line of coffee craving humans. They'll be churning out drinks rather quickly as the demand for coffee like this is high. And rightfully so because Cuban Coffee Queen roasts, grinds, and bags all of their own coffee. The aromas are ridiculous and the results speak for themselves in each sip. With plenty of coffee choices to partake in, you might find it hard to choose. I went with the iced cafe con leche and added some vanilla flavor to it. WOW! This drink packed a sweet yet robust coffee taste in every sip. Better yet, even with the Florida heat and ice melting quickly, the ice cubes are made of offee so you won't fret over watered down flavoring. Just amazing. But wait! The Queen doesn't just help with your thirst quenching. There's also a plethora of handheld food options to choose from (many with a Cuban twist). Our last morning, I partook in an egg, cheese, and chorizo sandwich on Cuban bread. Deliciousness ensued through each bite. Oh how I wish we had had more time to try a few other menu items or even to have lunch there. Next time! Overall, Cuban Coffee Queen is a fantastic coffee spot for Key West. It was something I didn't want to just leave behind so right before our last trip here, I ventured into CCQs small store where coffee beans are sold and purchased a bag to take home with me. It's been delighting me with French press cold brew for weeks. But alas, as stated at the beginning of this write up, the bag is done. Perhaps I'll need another trip down to the Keys sooner than later to replenish myself with their glorious coffee... read more

A quick service where a limited breakfast and lunch menu. Also, coffee options are limited too. Cuban coffee - rich, dark and flavorful. Only 3.5 stars because of options of coffee and out cashier seemed to be a little too quick to move you along. Maybe we caught her on a bad day. Got the Cuban Mix sandwich and two smoothie drinks which were cold and flavorful. Not a lot of sugar so don't it being sweet. More of the natural flavors of the mixed berries. Cuban Mix was good but tasted better with their vinegar based hot sauce. We might try again but we found a better coffee shop across the street. Check out my other coffee review. read more

I think we went to 3 different Cuban Coffee Queen locations while we were in Key West! Absolutely love this place! Even when they are slammed busy, the employees are nice and helpful and the food & drinks are consistently good. My daughter got a smoothie one day and liked that too! One morning I counted 12 people in front of me but there were cute chickens running around and lots of good people watching to keep me occupied! Everything we have tried on the menu is good - love the coffee so much that I bought a shirt this time! LOL read more
