Being my first experience, it was okay. I was expecting more and perhaps have been spoiled by other Cuban places. While I understand I had I had to wait until the designated prep time, they seemed to unsure about receiving my online order. I also couldn't hear the server as she spoke inaudibly through her mask. My cuban chicken sandwich was tender and flavor but very plain in terms of preparation. My bread could have been pressed more and ended up a bit soggy. I love finding hidden gems like this in a random Plaza. The food was amazing! I got the mojito fried chicken and I accidentally ate some of the bones, no for real. There wasn't a heavy batter on it at all and it was perfectly seasoned. Somehow they got the skin to crisp up to perfection while maintaining juicy ness. I don't even like white meat but baby this chicken was incredible. The garlic oil is the cherry on top of this dish. I loved their fruit juices as well. I love this place. Definitely a gem in Marietta. The venue is compact cafe style in a strip mall But do not let this fool you. The food is very very good. The service is attentive. The popular thing people seem to get is the cuban chicken with the rice. Quite tasteful and plentiful. It really has a neighborhood feel to it. Used to have to drive to Little Havana in Miami for good Cuban but I love this place. Fell in love with real Cuban Cusine a number of years ago in Florida. I had had Cuban Sandwiches before but they were approximations and not real Cuban Sandwiches. First Real Cuban Sandwich I had was at a Food Stand north of Tampa run by a Cuban Expatriote and I fell in love with it. I looked forward to trips back to Florida to visit this Stand but the closed a bit later but I could still find the real thing in Little Havana of course. My son and his wife and my grandson live in Marietta and i had spotted the Cuban Diner some time ago and made it a point to give it a try and I'm glad I did. It's a small store front and does not look like much of the outside but don't let that food you. What's on the inside is vibrate, service is great and the food is excellent. Can't say this is across the board, but everyone one on staff we talked to were either native Cuban or 1st Generation. Our server was excellent and gave an excellent primer on certain aspects of Cuban culture and cusine that i was unaware of and for that I am thankful. We started out by ordering the Sample Platter which is 4 different appetizers and we all shared. The Grandson loved the Fried Plantains or more correctly Tostones Tapados. Can't speak for every dish but I had the Picadillo which is a seasoned ground beef dish along with yellow rice, Black Beans and Cuban Fries which is Fried Yaca. All were excellent and I will be honest, best Black Beans I have had in a long time. I think I may have found my long lost cousins @ The Cuban Diner, where I was treated like family. Lol A friend of mine drove out from Decatur, Ga in search of a good soulfood spot. The food was great, I ordered the Lomo De Pureco which are pork loins, sauted with grilled onion and marinated in mojo ( hope I'm giving the right description), it came with 3 sides, so I ordered cuban rice, yuca fries and homemade chicken soup and yes, it was all that and a bag of chips, but you must have a special love for garlic; here it is the next day and I still think I smell garlic (it may be a mind thing-lol). Our server-Christina was great, made wonderful suggestions and was very polite. The manager visited our table several times, teasing about my drink option ( moonshine mojito) and inviting us to try a dessert. We actually recieved a visit from several other servers, making small talk and making sure we were okay. Nice bunch! The drinks...... the drinks ....did I say the drinks???? -lol ... I've returned to Cuban Diner a couple times for lunch with my coworkers since my last review and am happy to report that things have improved since then. This place has the best Cuban mojo sauce sauce in metro Atlanta. If you haven't tried Cuban mojo, it's a mixture of minced garlic, olive oil, and other seasonings. Order some yuca fries ("Cuban Fries" on the menu, $2.25) and give it a try. The sauce is addicting. Cuban Diner's version is homemade and looks/tastes unique. More oil and garlic taste than Papi's "citrusy" rendition. A good lunchtime deal is the Half Cuban Sandwich for $6.50 because it comes with two sides. Along with the the yuca, another good side to order are the maduros. Maduros are small, soft, pan-fried bananas. They're a golden brown and sweet and delicious. Eat them while they're hot. The Cuban is better these days. Pork, ham, and cheese are appetizing as is the bread. Lots of sauce (mustard, mayonnaise) though, so be careful not to let any of it drip on you while you bite into the sandwich. If you need a pick-me-up, the coffees here are very good (and quite strong). It's all espresso-based. I like the Cafe con Leche ($1.75) which is an IKEA-coffee-cup-full of espresso and milk. Hot and creamy. If you want a soft drink (non-American), try a Malta or Materva ($1.95 each). Both are sweet Latin American carbonated beverages with unique flavors that are hard to describe. You just have to try it and taste for yourself. Malta is actually beer that hasn't been fermented yet. If you're a fan of sodas, chances are you'll like these. I did. Fast and friendly service. This is a casual, no frills type of establishment. Plenty of seating inside and parking outside. Nice menu selection with affordable prices. Virtually everything is under $10. I had the arroz imperial (yellow rice casserole), which was different. It's pretty much a small rice plate with shredded chicken dispersed throughout. It was okay; nothing wowing to mention. The bf had the Cuban sandwich. To my dismay, it wasn't as wowing as I thought. The breading used was different. I thought it lacked pork as the sandwich had more ham. The mayo and mustard seemed like it was slabbed onto the sandwich. Altogether, the sandwich looked like it was made in haste. The side orders of fried yuka fries, sweet plantains, and fried green plantains were great! The yuka fries here tasted and looked different as it resembled thin mozzarella sticks. The garlic (?) dipping sauce gave it a unique flavor. The sweet plantains had a nice soft texture and natural sweetness to it. Lastly, the green plantains were hot and crispy. Yelp is always looking out man! For real. I'm so glad I found this place and even more excited that their located in Cobb County! Woot woot! I was on the hunt for some empanadas so I pulled up Yelp, read a couple reviews from some Yelpers I know and they said this place doesn't disappoint. Of course I had to try it out. If you're from South Florida, you know what this is. It's thee best pineapple soda in the lands. It doesn't come close to Fanta. For food, I ordered the beef empanadas and a pan el bistec sandwich which is basically a steak sandwich on Cuban bread with grilled onions. I took a bite and I was in heaven. That steak is seasoned so well. I was kinda disappointed in the empanadas though I have to say. Too much dough and not enough beef. It was seasoned well but damn! They only give you like 2 tablespoons of it. I'll definitely come back for the sandwich and get empanadas when I visit home cause I know I'll get more meat for the same price, if not cheaper. Randomly found this place and my fiancé and I couldn't wait to try their food. It's located at a shopping plaza so this restaurant wasn't too big. Went here on a Friday night and this place had a good amount of customers but we were seated right away. I ordered the Mojito Fried Chicken and it came with three sides. The sides that I chose were Moros (Cuban rice), Yuca fries, and Moduros (sweet plantains). It was definitely a lot of food for me for $10.99. The fried chicken was cooked really well and crispy of course. The sides were delicious and paired well with the chicken. I really like the combination of the Cuban rice with the sweet plantains. My fiancé order the Lechon Asado which was also delicious. We also shared a cup of Cafe con Leche which was a great cup of coffee. I've never eaten at a restaurant alone before... where do you look? I say mistakenly because once inside I quickly realized that I would not want to eat in my car and that meant that I would have to be brave, listen to the bumping music and smile at every person that looked my way. The staff were super friendly, a bunch of them stopped by and said a few things (Is this the single diner culture? Maybe I like it.) and a few more complimented my hair (all of whom I consider new friends)-- probably this goes without saying but they made me feel comfortable and welcome even as a single diner. I really do appreciate that because when I walked in I immediately wanted to turn around and leave. The food, guys, was wonderful. I got a Cuban sandwich with tostones... yum!
