As Pitbull would say Dale !!! Cuban Guys is a great concept. Growing up in Hialeah in the early 90's or as my American friends would call the Northern most tip of Cuba, there was a little mom and pop restaurants all over city that dished out some of the best cuban fritas, cuban sandwiches and milk shakes in all South Florida. Cuban Guys took the authenticity of the food and the concept and added capital and made a chain of delicious cuban food. Now this is not restaurant type cuban food it's more of a fast food concept. I would compare it to a hispanic version of "Five Guys Burgers" However, with better food and some added "Saźon" I ordered a Pan Con Bistec and Batido de Trigo. In addition, I went with a tamale as a appetizer. Tamale: Was very good, it came and appeared to have been made in it's own leaf. Very juicy and soft, the corn flavor was evident. It was paired with cooked onions which gave it amazing flavor. There is nothing worse than having a dry tamale. I am pretty sure it was boiled and you can tell it came off the pot and into my plate. Pan con Bistec: Isn't there something about cuban bread that makes everything in life better. I mean if your hispanic you can make anything with cuban bread or pair it with any dish. The Pan con Bistec is the center stone of that. Soft tender stake, soft string fries, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and cuban bread! Perfection!!! Just like in the mom and pop places, with fresh ingrediants and soft and warm cuban bread. Batido de Trigo: Milk and Wheat = Heaven with a straw! I have to say, that I now love this place. I had originally tried one of their other locations, but I was not fully satisfied. I wrote a review on it, and the owner reached out to me and asked me to give them another shot, so I did. I have actually gone back twice since then. I came to this location on a Saturday, and it was quite busy. The staff was moving fast, so I didn't have to wait long. I ordered 2 chicken bowls and a tres leche for dessert. The employee who attended me, Felix, was great. I am big on customer service, and I appreciate the great great service I received here. My food was ready in about 7-8 minutes. I ordered it to-go and enjoyed it at home. The bowl was packed with food. It had rice, black beans, chicken, platanito maduro, and some crispy bread things?? (I'm not sure what it was, but it was crunchy). It was so much food, I couldn't finish in one sitting. Everything tasted so good. My bf also enjoyed the bowl. We are now fans of this place. The tres leche was also very yummy. If it wasn't for the owner that reached out to me, I'm not sure whether I would have returned. I appreciate that the owner took my opinion seriously and asked me to give them a another chance. Officially adding Cuban Guys to our "go-to take-out" roster. The steak seasoning has won over my hubby who has a heart for understated sweetness, which is not to say that it is a sweet steak but there is uniqueness that sets it apart from the typical saltiness of Cuban food. The bread continues to be delectably soft and the crispy string fries that top most sandwiches are pretty darn good (and perfectly cooked). There is something to say about an establishment that listens to its customers and applies the suggestions made, Cuban Guys did just that and they have gained a loyal customer for doing so. The yuca fries portion was plentiful & delicious as was the Vaca Frita sandwich I tried for the first time. Everything was fresh & tasty. This was my first stop when I got to Miami driving down from NC (13 hours. YIKES!). I have been following this companies success all the way from NC and I knew that when I came to Miami to visit that Cuban Guys would be my first meal back in Miami. Ever heard the saying "Curiosity killed the cat"? Well... "Satisfaction brought it back!" Both my friend and I got the pan con bistec and a drink. Unfortunately they ran out of coke mid pour and the pan con bistec was really good. I was happy to order churros that didn't come with CINNAMON! Everyone in NC adds cinnamon and that drives me CRAZY!!! Anyways... The service was really good it was nice to hear the cashier say "Can I call you Tati instead of my full name... Tatiana". I knew I was back home away from the country where everyone who hears my name follows it up with a "Say what?". The staff was attentive and made sure they had our order right. few days later I started my day off with Cuban Guys breakfast with my family and walked across the street to Navarro. Well ladies and gents times have changed and a new "Rey" has come to our city ready for war "Cuban Guys." With a perfect chorizo to meat ratio and home made papa Julianas (string fries) - these guys have def taken the frita out of the ball park! Each bite full is an explosion of season and taste just to hard to put down. To top it off, it's considerably less greasier than what we are use to! I heard great reviews about the amazing sandwiches made from this location. Since I'm not a red meat eater I've postponed on trying any of their sandwiches. Today I was craving a chicken sandwich and not any fast food chicken "mystery chicken" sandwich so I ventured to this location. Their trademark says everything: "Not simply fast food, it's marvelous sustenance quick". I've gone to this place twice this previous month and all that I have attempted has been awesome. The first occasion when I requested the vaca frita bowl with a "jugo de melón" or watermelon juice. The bowl landed with a lot of rice, dark beans, vaca frita, home-influenced shoe-to string potatoes and maduritos (seared plantains). It was a liberal bit and heavenly also. The second time I went I requested the frita (Cuban burger) which arrived new off the barbecue and all around prepared, finished with shoe-string potatoes and flame broiled onions. Another hit too. Luv these fritas from Cuban Guys. Ordered two cooked to order cheese fritas and a fountain drink 11 bucks. Fritas were fresh made to order and tasted great. The bread was fresh and the papitas (string potatoes) crispy and not at all greasy. The restaurant is decked out in a white, red and blue scheme and has plenty of inside and outdoor seating. Service was fast and friendly. In addition they have some other Cuban staple foods, pan con bistec, croquetas, chicken sandwiches, bowls and Cuban batidos(shakes). The parking is available, not familiar with the area but it was easy for us to find especially with GPS, the place is facing the street and the sign is well lit. My friend asked me if I had ever eaten here and when I said no he looked confused. I have lived 5 minutes away since they have opened and they have never caught my attention. There are other places where the fritas have owned my but I gave it a shot. I must say the frita was the juiciest I have ever tried. That was the best part about it. It did lack something though. Hubby went with Classic Pan con bistec - this was a perfectly cooked steak between 2 warm cuban bread pieces - topped with mayo, lettuce, tomato and grilled onions (this is extra thou) and their delicious super thin crispy fries...... yummy i went with the Cuban Sandwich... delicious warm cuban bread sliced ham, pork, melted cheese, mustard, pickle (extra) good flavor abuela went with the kid's meal mini chicken with grilled onions (extra) this was served with a very generous serving of their crispy thin fries! enough to share and still have leftovers..... drinks - We had 1 Mamey shake & 1 Trigo (wheat) shake - they were good side of mariquitas - these were delicious - not greasy at all - crispy and served with a delicious garlic sauce on the side.... Limited choice for a place to eat during Christmas visit. The Cuban Guys saved us from starvation. I had split a steak sandwich with my date and I, my lonesome had the caliente Perro! My steak I can say I've had better at many places in Miami but the hot dog was better than expected by far best in Miami. The guy who made it had this macho sauce that just simply gave it a nice flavor. He may not remember me, I had my sunglasses, ordered a corona and espresso as well churros. On 4/06/15 I had a craving for a midnight sandwich. Before leaving home I weighed my options and decided to avoid the local Latin America and the Casavana. Their fare is pretty standard and I had vague recollection of a satisfying meal I had some time ago at a trendy place called Cuban Guys. I live in Miami Lakes so the Hialeah Cuban Guys is less than 10 minutes away. I figured I would call ahead and place my order so I could avoid a long wait. Through the magic of Google I found their number and called. A guy picked up the phone and told me to wait. I waited. .. and waited. I finally got in my car, put the call on the speaker phone and drove to the store. When I arrived I was still on hold. I hung up, got out of the car and entered the store. It was relatively busy for a Monday afternoon. There was a line 6 customers deep and there were at least 7 more customers seated and waiting for their orders. I stood in line and dialed the number again. The kid at the register ignored the ringing phone. I was mildly amused. I waited in line for a good 10 minutes. Placed my order with the kid and handed him my American Express card. He looked at it as if I had handed him a turd. "No American Express" he said without even looking at me. Even McDonald's accepts American Express.. I thought to myself. I looked in my wallet and luckily found some cash. My order was placed and my annoyance gave way to anticipation. The wait was long and I began to notice certain things. The place is small and noisy and the loud Latin music doesn't help. The dining area was dirty and there was a piece of ham on the floor that I was sure would cause an nasty slip and fall. One of the garbage cans in the dining area was filled to capacity and overflowing. All the way in the back of the restaurant there is a pick-up area where they call out your order. I could hear a customer complain that he had been waiting 20 minutes for his sandwich. Another one piped up and said the same thing. The woman behind the counter (presumably a manager) seemed nervous. Despite the growing dissatisfaction the three employees working the open kitchen seemed content with a very leisurely pace. Where is order 10? where is order 13? she barked. One of the cooks sneered and turned his back to the woman. At this point one of the employees behind the counter (some guy in a dark shirt) went to the overflowing garbage can near the door and opened it. His did this with his bare hands. He took the garbage out and returned with a new liner. He did not bother to sweep the floor. He then went behind the counter and opened a bag of bread Never once did he wash his hands. Not good. I looked at my phone. I had been there for 22 minutes. Time to complain. I walked up to the rear counter and politely inquired about my meal. The woman looked over to several bags on the counter and handed me one. Never once was my name called out. I needed to go but there was one more thing I had to do. .. I had to grab my soda. The canned soda in this place is kept in an open air bin with ice. Except there was no ice in this bin. The sodas were basically sitting in a pool of tepid water. I reached in and noticed the water was not only tepid but it was not clean. It was cloudy and there was debris in it (food, algae, I don't know). My Iron Beer was hot and covered by this nasty water. I drove home and washed off the can. The interior of my Midnight sandwich was cold (sigh). I heated it up and scarfed it down. It was good. The extent of my hunger probably made it seem better than it was. I grew up in Hialeah. Despite this, I avoid the place like the plague. Hialeah has changed and not for the better. "Trendy" things do not come to Hialeah. This city of 230,000 people has one Starbucks (maybe two if you count the one in Target). There is a reason for this. I went out of my way to go to the trendy Cuban Guys in Hialeah because I wanted to support it. Cuban Guys was a disappointment. Perhaps its Hialeah customers do not expect any better. The place is always busy. Unfortunately I do ..AND I use American Express. I know... I get it.... Amex charges a 2-3% discount rate and merchants are loathe to pay "the vig". So what do they do? They make it convenient for themselves instead of accommodating their customers. Good luck with that philosophy. read more

I hate that I was not impressed. I really wanted to be impressed with Cuban Guys and it just didn't happen. I smiled a couple of times because some of their items did take me back to my childhood, but the food just tasted too bland for being Cuban. I had the PAN CON TORTILLA. It was dry and didn't taste like anything. Maybe it was the papitas that just didn't go or the lack of cheese. I just was not impressed. Frank had the CUBAN GUYS SANDWICH which is a pan con bistec with ham and cheese. It was meh - really nothing to write home about. The steak just didn't have any seasoning. The CROQUETAS took me back to simple times. These tasted like frozen Caseritas we used to make at home when I was a kid when abuela didn't feel like cooking so she'd just fry up some frozen croquetas and served it with white rice. Un mata hambre! The final disappointment was the FRITURITAS DE MALANGA. These were raw and the frying oil tasted like it was time to change it. I will give them a second chance. Cuban Guys, you will have one more chance to wow me. I was telling Frank, next time we're ordering the fritas and a shake. I also was happy to see the jugo de melon, but I didn't order one because my pan con tortilla came with a cafe con leche. Hasta la proxima! read more

So conveniently close to home and it reminded me of a Five Guys turned into Cuban style. There's fritas, pan con bistec, pan con lechon, media noches, and Cuban bowls of masitas de puerco....etc. We had fritas and thought the bread, cheese, and onions made them super tasty. The mariquitas were perfect and didn't seem oily. I was shocked at the amount of people picking up orders and eating at 10pm. I love the soda machine; it has tons of flavors! More fast food restaurants should consider getting those machines! I recommend the Frita bowl! It taste very good and leaves you full. I don't recommend the Pan con Bistec. Personally, I think it's too small and it's not juicy at all. I love my pan con Bistec to be real Cuban, thick juicy steak dripping sauce and with papitas!!! I have no words to express my experience today. I have been coming to Cuban guys for about a year. I always loved Cuban guys but I have been disappointed more and more each visit but I never give up on them always blame a bad cook but today was officially my last time at Cuban guys. The meat was not cooked properly and there was a dead maggot in my frita. I told the cashier and he made me another one and it wasn't cooked. Long story short I couldn't eat it because I was thinking about the maggot. When I got home I went vomit.
