I love coming to this place. It's been a long time but the service is amazing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is great! My pollo tropical (tropical chicken breast) was Devine! I have never had pineapples over grilled chicken breast before. It gave it that extra umph! The rice and veggies were also delicious. The martini I had was good. It's basically a cosmo. Listen the bartender does not go light on the liquor. To finish off my meal I got the brownie with chocolate drizzle over coconut and caramel ice cream! It was the best thing I've had in a long time. The vibe of the restaurant is casual. The ambiance is very nice, with music playing in the background. The art in the restaurant will make you feel like you are in Cuba.

Delicious food served in a festive atmosphere. We visited on a night with a LOT going on in the area so it was busy but food was still coming out in a decent time. Not pictured a perfect plantars punch!

Great restaurant and not to be missed! Friendly and warm atmosphere. The food is terrific and the owner is always present and very welcoming. Looking forward to coming again on my next trip to MKE.

I ordered from DoorDash and everything arrived in good fashion. I got the pulled beef bowl with black beans, rice and and veggies. Was a pretty good portion for the price. I added a chicken empanada on the side. The beef and veggies were good, I think a good option if you're going for something quick and semi healthy. Nothing to write home about but a decent option. The empanada was interesting... olives and raisins, never had that combo before. I kept thinking idk if I love it but then also couldn't stop eating it haha worth the try!

The theme is so pretty and there was many space to sit. The environment is nice and cozy. Staff are very nice. The price of the food is not pricey at all. The flavor of some food is good and some need more seasoning, like the rice (have an old tasting like it's been sitting out in the heat all day so it tasted dry). The drinks taste amazing. My husband love his food. We will come back to try other food.

I've been here multiple times during the week and love it here! They have happy hour 4-6pm during the week and it's half off all alcoholic drinks. I got a raspberry mojito for $5 and it was so fruity and spritzy. The empanadas were so delicious and unique. Inside is very eclectic with the decorative frames on the wall and I love how bright it is in there, especially during winter. This spot is in my rotation and definitely recommend.

Not what I was expecting I had cold empanadas inside. The empanadas were not good I ordered Yuca Al Mojo, and it was so horrible I also had rooa Vieja. It was just ok Not good experience

We have been here a few times before and the food is absolutely delicious! First time here for valentines day. Staff is on point! Super attentive and friendly. I ordered the mojo-tini and wow so refreshing and light. My new favorite drink. I ordered the valentines day special Mahi mahi with yuca mash. I hope this makes it to their menu because this was excellent. My bf ordered the bbq half rack of ribs. He loved it. We were offered to have our picture taken which was super sweet so thank you for a wonderful night.

Met a friend for lunch and neither of us had been here before. I love the interior-- they have intentional paint-peeled walls with pastel colors to make you feel like you're in Havana. We shared a beef empanada which was so flavorful and packed with meat. I loved my arroz con pollo, it was flavored very well. My friend loved her pollo asada bowl. The plantain chips are fresh and delicious. I can't wait to come back and I am pumped that I live walking distance from this special spot! Nice to have culturally diverse options in town.

Cubanitas is always a good decision. The cocktails are good, and they have specials during the week and happy hour. I tried a coconut margarita for the first time and really enjoyed it. I also tried one of the bowls and loved it. The sweet plantains are always on point. The service is great, and the restaurant is cute inside. I highly recommend it.

It was highlighted on the menu, but the appetizer was just okay. The plantain chips were a little bland and the guac could have been fresher. For an entrée I chose the pollo tropical. The flavor of the chicken was phenomenal, and the pineapple and oranges complimented it well. However, the chicken was really, really, really dry. I dunked each bite in the mojo sauce (which was delicious -- it added a citrusy, garlicky punch) but it didn't fix the textural issue. My dining companion went with the steak sandwich with a side of fries, and it was nothing to write home about. For the mediocrity of our meal, it was definitely overpriced. The customer service was fine. The ambiance was pleasant with good music, though the restaurant was pretty chilly. I don't know if I'll be returning to Cubanitas in the future. I'm sure there is better Cuban food in the greater Milwaukee area.

I started out my experience with their Pisco Sour. I prefer the Peruvian style Pisco Sour (with egg whites and bitters), they serve it in the Chilean fashion (sans egg whites and bitters). It was aok if that's the style you prefer! For our starter, we got the tostones rellenos, which were the star of the evening for me. So flavorful with just the right amount of heat. Perfection! For my main dish, I got their salmon tropical, which is grilled salmon over whipped potatoes with cilantro, mango, onion, and avocado on top. It's also served with asparagus, which was pitch perfect. All in all--it was a fresh and tasty dish! For dessert, my dining companion and I opted to share their nutella flan. I found it to be overly, cloyingly sweet and wouldn't likely order dessert here again. The service was attentive and the prices were reasonable. Get to it!

The place has outdoor seating in front and the inside has a nice bar with big front windows and tables/chairs. The bar menu for a tropical restaurant had a small tropical drink menu I thought but the strawberry mojito sounded good. The strawberry mojito was good but for all I know it was a kiddie cocktail because it didn't taste like an adult beverage because it didn't taste like an alcohol beverage. The blond woman with the hypnotic/beautiful accent working the whole room by herself did a great job. The menu has so much good stuff on it that it's hard to pick a dish so I opted for the Latin inspired signature sampler which is empanada choice of meat, steak quesadilla, tostone ralleno pork, three mango bbq wings and tostones. The food took a bit to hit the table but it looked good when it did. Everything was delicious/flavorful and seasoned nicely. I enjoyed everything on the plate so it's hard to pick one over the other except the wing's because wings are everywhere. The pork was moist and seasoned nicely as well as the tender steak quesadilla, it's all very good. Overall I really like my lunch and I'm so glad that I stopped for something different and they did a great job.

The owner is one of the nicest people you will meet and you can see the sheer passion just oozing from him. He makes you feel like a guest in his own home and he is so obviously proud of the food he serves. That pride is well deserved -- this is some of the best Venezuelan food I've ever had, anywhere in the world. The pabéllon and the reina pepeada are especially worthy of mention, with the pabéllon in specific being one of the best things I've ever eaten. The yuca frita is delightful -- fried to perfection, with a delicious chimmichuri-esque drizzle. The kids arepa is hilarious and hilariously good -- a ham and cheese delight tuned for the very German influenced palate around here. My kids and I hope to sample every last item on the menu. My only worry is that this is not a style of food that generally gets a lot of attention in this town -- this place is always rather empty whenever I come. I would love to see lines out the door, because that's what this place deserves, and that's how good the food is here. The fate of many ethnic restaurants in this area seems to be to go under -- and oftentimes that's not commentary on the quality of the food. The palate of the general population in this area tends to be less adventurous, and that puts restaurants like this at a disadvantage. That is to say: please come experience this place. Please come eat here. Please help make sure that this place sticks around.

We started with the pink Guava Paloma and the Schilling Local Legends for our drinks. The Pink Guava Paloma tasting amazing and was strong. You were really able to taste the tequila but it wasn't un-drinkable. The Guava was a great blend with the drink and my friend wished he had gotten the same drink because of how good it tasted. The menu was divided up into three different sections; Field, Sea, and Pasture. They also had specials, as well. We tried to get a few items from each section to try different dishes. In the Field section, we tried the Truffle Potato Skins (WI). The potatoes skins were PILED onto the plate. They were more soft than crunchy but tasted amazing. I wasn't really able to taste the truffle but it was still good. In the Sea section, we tried the Sambal Goreng Udang (Indonesia). An Indonesian dish with white shrimp, sambal chili paste, mash potatoes, and coconut milk. Honestly, this was my favorite dish. It was creamy and the mashed potatoes paired so well with the sauce and the shrimp. It had a hint of spice, which elevated the experience for me personally, as I love spicy food. In the Pasture section, we tried the Beef Empanadas (Columbia) and Vietnamese Pork Belly Crepes (Vietnam). The Beef Empanadas came with four pieces and some green sauce. The outside was crunchy and not over fried, the inside was perfectly filled and moist. Would highly recommend it as it was amazing. The Vietnamese Pork Belly Crepes were a little disappointing. I was expecting them to come out like the traditional Vietnamese crepes, crispy outside with the pork belly and other fillings on the inside. Instead it was like an actual crepe mix. It was soft and honestly okay. It wasn't our favorite. As for the specials they were offering, we tried the Pork Tenderloin. The Pork Tenderloin was pretty good, not super dry. It was served on top of potatoes and tasted amazing. La Merenda has a very cozy atmosphere. Low lights and overall just a chill and quaint spot. I will definitely come back for more of the Sambal Goreng Udang and to try out some of their other plates!
