I ordered the jerk chicken, and they served a generous, well-seasoned chicken breast that was incredibly tender and full of flavor. The rice and beans were delicious, the black beans were a great addition, and the plantains were cooked perfectly. The prices are very reasonable, and they also offer a military discount, which makes the value even better. Nice on the inside. Like the decorations. If you're looking for authentic, flavorful Jamaican food with great service and excellent value, I highly recommend Willie & Rum Island Grill!

Ashley, my server, was 100 and provided great energy and service throughout the experience. ...didn't have an entree because the spot was approaching close. The space felt authentically Jamaican, which added to the vibe. No oxtails available though, so just be prepared for that. Also, it was my server's first week, so give a little grace and patience with timing. The drinks were amazing. My only observation was that, like many places using fresh garnishes for cocktails, gloves weren't worn during drink prep but hey, maybe the alcohol handled the sanitation duties *shrugs* Overall, it was a really good experience and I'd definitely go back.

We got the skirt steaks and grouper and both were delicious. I like the white rice and plantains and the beans are okay but the proteins are amazing. We've come many times before and also like several other dishes. It's a little nicer feeling inside but fun and welcoming.

We didn't really need it since the restaurant was pretty empty, but we were a bigger group and didn't want to risk it. The hostess didn't confirm our reservation until about 10 mins prior, which was quite concerning, but everything worked out at the end anyway. Our server was wonderful! It was our first time here and he explained their background and what his favorites were on the menu. We for sure wanted to try the paella, so went ahead and ordered that first, with the carretillero ceviche, mixed empanadas (chicken and beef) and patatas bravos to start. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. Loved the fried calamari and all the toppings it was served with. The empanadas were also delicious and was served with a very spicy sauce! The patatas braves had a nice, smoky flavor. Now for entree, I ordered the veggie chaufa. Our server may have been a little biased as he preferred the Peruvian side of the menu, more so than the Cuban side. My dish was easily good for 2-3 people. It had tons of veggies and scrambled egg, plus served with a side of fried plantains. Our group ordered a bunch of other dishes and tried some of them. The churrasco steak was a little chewy but loved the chimichurri it was served with. The parrillada de mariscos was so good too, and my personal fave was the grilled octopus! Personally, I would opt for this instead of the valenciana paella. You essentially get the same types of seafood. I love that we got to dine at this hidden gem! We truly enjoyed our experience and will be back for sure.

One of the spots in Ponce City Market that I've been sleeping on. The customer service was top tier. Everyone was super patient and knowledgeable of the menu! The guava and cheese pastry.... Wow! Chefs kiss! It was served warm, flaky and honestly one of the best pastries I've had in a while. On my top 10 list! I also found out that you can order in bulk to anyone who asked!!! Truly loved the ambiance but I'm also a sucker for a good food hall!! I'll definitely be back!

It was flavorful, well-textured, and paired perfectly with the creamy orange sauce, which was absolutely delicious. I'd honestly come back just for the mofongo and sauce. The tofu, however, was a bit of a letdown. It was crispy on the outside, but much too salty for my taste, which overpowered the rest of the dish. At $20, I'm on the fence about whether it's a great value. It's not cheap, but the quality of the mofongo almost makes up for it. Would I order it again? Absolutely, but mainly for the mofongo. Next time I'd probably ask if the tofu can be made with less salt or try a different protein.
