First time at Cubby's, and they're missing the boat. Tacos should always have a corn tortilla option, especially for those who eat gluten free. I had to pick the tri-tip and toppings off the tacos, which I will say were tasty, but would have been much better in a corn tortilla. And would have been much more filling. Suggestion from a Texan, add corn tortillas please. On a side note, the rosemary fries and fry sauce were good. And my hubby enjoyed the Gypsy burger quite a bit. This new Sugar House location of Cubby's seemed to pop up out of nowhere! All of the sudden I was driving by and noticed the brand new sign and was so excited. Something else I was super excited about - they have a drive thru! I didn't realize they had a drive thru situation until I was already inside, but I'm lazy and hate getting out of my car, so I will definitely be utilizing the drive thru here in the future. A healthy food drive thru?! Heck yes! I love that this is an option. The inside is huge and really bright with tons of natural lighting. They have a ton of seating, and the seating felt super private too - the booths have wooden backs that go all the way up to the ceiling, so it felt really private when you were sitting inside of them. I could see myself spending an afternoon working from here just because the privacy was nice. I deviated from my usual order last minute, and decided to try out their bender bowl with rice, veggies, a really yummy dressing, cheese, cilantro - it was really delicious. I usually get their kale salad and sub their chicken for extra avocado. The fries here are good too. I got the half salad and it was about $11 and was the perfect amount of food for me for lunch. We come here pretty often and really enjoy the cockadoodledoo sandwich. The past few times our fries have been very over salted to the point of inedible and the drive thru wait when we're the only ones there can be a bit much. Our most recent visit we got a kids quesadilla meal and were so disappointed. The fruit side consisted of three grapes and a few apple slices and unfortunately the grapes were molding. The quesadilla itself wasn't cooked long enough to melt the cheese through fully. I'm so sad our past few experiences have been so poor as we really like Cubby's and frequented their previous Sugarhouse location without these issues. We might try out a different Cubby's location in the future to see if it's just this one location with these issues read more

Cubby's is a "Go-to" Utah burger joint that offers some interesting and innovative choice. Especially for the vegetarian. This is a great Cubby's due to its location, (I love Sugarhouse!) but the current construction has made it hard to get in and out of. The have good service because they have great people working there. The Gypsy burger is my favorite. If you're a burger connoisseur- get a double, with Rosemary fries and a huckleberry shake (My humble recommendation) Then add a good dollop of Cubby's chipotle fry sauce to the burger because the beef can be bone dry. It's good, very lean, very dry. Great outside seating, but lately, the construction makes it dusty and hard to find parking. Give this place some time for the city to complete the construction. I love Cubbys! I almost always get the Tri-tip salad because it's hard to top! Their burgers and sweet potato fries are also tasty. I like how you can get a burger and an awesome salad at the save place. The breakfast here is top notch too! I've had both good and bad service here but the tasty food is what always brings me back. I also returned the rosemary fries as they had not been seasoned, the manager advised they didn't have rosemary ready so I had to wait for a new batch to be made which seemed to be an inconvenience... while my burgers were going cold. I'm a patron of Cubby's because of the quality ingredients and GF options. Unfortunately this experience has been a huge turn off spending ~$40 for lunch and half of it was inedible and had to be tossed in the trash. At the time of ordering, I was also cut off twice before I had the chance to finish - the whole team including management don't seem to have the care or enthusiasm I've found at other stores. My first time trying Cubby's and I had the half Beets and goat cheese Salad with orange zest and it was delicious. Not enough goat cheese for me for the price but it was still yummy. It had red and yellow beets. We had rosemary fries which was good and and sweet fries as well. My bf had the double Houdini burger and he said it was delish but the double meat kind of took the flavor from everything else. My son got le cheeseburger and he liked it. Not-great: Ordering always seems to be a hassle for those taking the order. I don't know what it is about the Sugar House location, but the people just aren't friendly or helpful. Rude. Fucking. Assholes. Spend your money literally anywhere else. Wasatch Brewery is a couple doors north. There are dozens of other restaurants nearby within walking distance. My friends and I, a group of about 10 people, showed up before 8:30 and started placing our orders. Mind you, the time on the door says they close at 9pm, as does the time here on Yelp. We sat down, they hadn't brought our food yet, and a guy comes out at 8:35 YELLING at us that we need to be out by 9. "You need to be out by 9! You need to leave by 9! Will you be out by 9?" 1. That all depends on you -- will you have our food to us by 9? 2. Never once were we told calmly "Hey, just letting you know we need to lock up by 9." 3. If it's such a big issue, lock the doors early or stop taking orders early and just politely tell people that you can't take any more orders for the night. 4. They didn't yell at any other customers, or even let them know gently, that they needed to be out by 9. Just us. 5. They continued to take other orders after this... They brought us our food and we took it outside to finish in the cold. We didn't want to go back inside for napkins or to throw our trash out because we felt unwelcome, so we even took our trash with us to throw away elsewhere. I don't give a flying fuck what's going on in your life or if you're having a shitty work day, you never approach a group of polite customers that just spent over $150 at your shitty restaurant and yell at them for no reason. Ruined our moods. I wish I hadn't tipped and will from now on think twice before tipping elsewhere before the food/service has been provided. It wasn't just that guy either, the cashiers were rude, and the people bringing the food out were unfriendly as well. I worked in customer service when I was younger. Grocery store, Starbucks, etc. Even when a customer yelled at me out of the blue, I was never rude back. Basic manners are NOT difficult. They are NOT a lot to ask for. My friends and I were a group of obviously gay people, so maybe they just hate the gays. Who knows. The food was underwhelming. The grilled cheese was not worth $10. The shake was not worth $5. Whoever runs this place - Check your security footage if you want to know who the problematic employees were. I'm not going to call out any specifically because it seems to be a team-wide problem, and that reflects on the business and management as a whole... Had we been pleased, we likely would've been back again. A group of 10+ of us go out 3 times a week in this area. We will very happily bring our money elsewhere. read more

The food here is always very good. Some things are overpriced, but most of it is delicious and fair. I did have an issue with the cleanliness and orderly nature of the restaurant. The garbage cans were overflowing with trash and had started to have dishes gathering around it. The tables and chairs throughout the restaurant were dirty and unkept. Customers were having to clean their own spaces with napkins. Multiple workers were standing around and watching, but no one was cleaning up the messes or offering to help. This was disappointing because usually I really enjoy the environment that cubby's supplies. It also took an exceptionally long time to receive the food and it was not warm when we got it. read more
