The aroma from the street was intoxicating and the pleasure never stopped, we ordered 2 different bowls beans yellow rice moist shredded pork beautiful slices of avocado mango orange slice and lime to enhance the dishes flavors and if this wasn't good already but then there's crispy salty yummy fried plantain and sweet soft ripe plantain like a bite of fresh plantain pudding. Even though I grab salt and pepper I guess from reaction but absolutely never needed it at all this food was perfectly seasoned and cooked and delicious. This place is a must eat at when your in Portland

This was our first time visiting, and we were not disappointed. Cute little restaurant with very authentic options for Cuban flavored food. I ordered the spicy shrimp bowl with black beans, Platanos, plantains, and instead of rice I opted to have the green salad that had fresh avocado slices on it. Everything was very flavorful. My husband had a Cuban coffee which he said was excellent. He also had the shredded beef bowl which he enjoyed very much. The service was very attentive and friendly. Casual place with outdoor seating in warmer weather. Looking forward to returning to taste some of their other options. Great menu, adult beverages available. Great location on Mississippi, lots of places to walk around and visit after you're done with a great meal.

I have been wanting to go here for so long after seeing the one on Hawthorne and didn't realize there was a second location closer to where I live. I ordered online and it was ready right when I got there. I got the Havana bowl which they do in a half portion. I appreciate that they had that option. The half portion was pretty regular sized too. Only 10$. The meat was really juicy and tender. Loved the maduros and tostones. Avocado was ripe and the mango's were such a nice touch. Beans were flavorful and not bland at all. The perfect bowl. I liked the ambiance inside too. They had indoor and outdoor seating. Large menu, I liked that you could easily find healthy options here too. Employees were friendly. I would definitely come back.

We stopped at Cubo for a late lunch at around 4 PM and we're all extremely hungry Below is my take on each of the items we ordered THE CUBAN Slow roasted & shredded pork shoulder, pit ham, Swiss cheese, house made mojo, caramelized onion & pickl - I would say this sandwich was very flavorful but almost too flavorful for a Cuban , a true Cuban wouldn't have the caramelized onions which I think made this more flavorful MADUROS Fried ripe, soft, sweet plantains - These were delicious, but not as sweet as I expected, still good though HAVANA Slow roasted pork shoulder w/ house made citrus, garlic and onion mojo sauce & caramelized onion - This was pretty good and it all came together really well The rice and beans was what you would expect from most dishes of this nature The service in itself was very friendly and I would go back and maybe try some different dishes

Decent portions for the price. The platanos and plantains were delicious, everything else was okay. They have a nice big seating area, but it was empty when we went

My husband and I had a brisket bowl and a pork bowl and found them to be fresh and delicious. We look forward to exploring the menu further. My husband also had a Housemade guava sparkling lemonade that was fantastic. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service.

Cubo-sippi! The Mississippi Corridor is awesome for the variety of dining choices and Cubo is a nice flavor choice along the ave. A bright colored vibe inside, friendly service. Food portions are set as a nice small bite, especially their side salad or fries. Great HH, great outdoor umbrella seating.

No flavor in the mojo pork at all. I tried the Havana bowl which came w/ rice, beans, maduros, tostones & mango & avocado in addition to the pork. The meat just tasted boiled plain, I doused with tapatío just to give a bit of flavor lol. The tastiest part was prob the rice & beans. The tostones were pretty good too. They do have a pretty good HH (3-6 I believe) with draft beers for $4.50 and half sandos w/ a side for $8, might come back for that tho. Fast-casual counter service, and with plenty of outdoor as well as indoor seating.

I used to live in Tampa and am always curious about Cuban options in the area. I came with a friend for lunch and was intrigued by the Picadillo Soya bowl. As someone who can't eat beef, I'm always intrigued by a picadillo option I can eat. The flavors were perfect and super tasty! I likes the bowl came with a lovely range of textures from spot-on cooked tostones to black beans that were just right. I look forward to trying more tasty options in the future.

Probably one of the best piñata colda I've had in a while due to how smooth it was. They even have guava colda if you're a fan! The Cuban sandwich is where it's at forget the other stuff- juicy, cheesy, meaty, ugh! I ordered another right after! The service is quick and the ambiance is great for dinner or friends date. Run don't walk!

The meats here were incredible, and the complimentary soups served in the cutest little teacups was a thoughtful touch! We ordered a unique apple sliced salad topped w blue cheese, of course oysters, tartare, and my very first filet mignon! My partner at the time insisted we order it, and I'm so glad we did - it completely lived up to the hype. So tender and juicy! If you're visiting, don't skip this. The restaurant is intimate with limited seating, so be sure to make a reservation. The dim lighting creates the perfect date night atmosphere, and the aroma from the grill is intoxicating! Every detail made the evening feel special, and I'm so happy we got to spend it together here. Thank you to the staff for making the evening unforgettable!

The restaurant…read morehas an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere and I appreciated thoughtful touches like providing toothpicks in the restroom. On our first visit we had a reservation and were seated at a table. After ordering, patrons are served a complimentary leek soup in an espresso size cup. I wish it were on the menu because it is one of the best things I've ever tasted. The flavor is incredibly rich! We ordered the clam chowder, halibut, maple glazed carrots and tres leches cake. The clam chowder's presentation was nicely done but nothing special in taste. It came so highly recommended on Reddit and many other diners ordered it but neither my party nor I cared for it. The halibut was good but didn't stand out and the maple glazed carrots weren't to my taste. What completely won us over was the tres leches cake. It is one of the most delicious and most memorable desserts we've ever had. Every layer complemented the next perfectly creating an incredibly balanced dessert that wasn't overly sweet with different textures. We couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It was one of the reasons we decided to give the restaurant a second shot. After our meal I mentioned to our server that we weren't sure if we'd ordered the right dishes since we weren't thrilled with the food especially with how popular the restaurant is. He explained that it's primarily an Argentinian steakhouse and suggested returning to try the meat dishes. On our second visit we arrived at opening without a reservation. There was plenty of seating but since we didn't have a reservation we were seated at the bar. I didn't mind seated at the bar but the bar stools were extremely uncomfortable, almost torturous. Unfortunately, it was too hot to sit outside. Midway through dinner a machine, maybe a dishwasher, was turned on behind the bar. It was loud and the vibrations could be felt. This time we ordered the beet salad, cheese empanada, beef empanada, two filet mignons and the lamb shoulder. The beet salad was a disappointment. It consisted of large overly soft chunks of beets with what tasted like a basic grocery store salad dressing. For a restaurant of this caliber I expected more. Neither of us enjoyed the cheese empanada but we both liked the beef empanada. We also ordered two filet mignons cooked the same way. Both arrived more done than requested and one way more overcooked than the other. They were also on the salty side, though both were very tender. The lamb shoulder, which our server had already warned us about before we ordered, ended up being dry and tough. The chimichurri served alongside the savory dishes was also heavier on onions than I prefer. Overall, the service was excellent, and the complimentary leek soup and tres leches cake were truly outstanding. Unfortunately, despite two visits, the main dishes we ordered didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation for us.

I had been craving pupusas, and the moment I saw they had a good variety to choose from, I knew he made the right choice. I ordered the pork with rice and beans pupusa and the chicken with beans pupusa, and both absolutely hit the spot. They were filling, flavorful, and comforting in the way only good, handmade pupusas can be. The curtido and sauce tied everything together perfectly. Honestly, I could've just stuck with the pupusas and been completely satisfied. But I was really craving plátanos, so I also ordered a side of plátanos with beans and crema ..and wow. That combination was next level. The sweetness of the plantains with the savory beans and creamy crema was so good that I've decided from now on, that's the only way I want to eat them. The whole meal kept me full and happy for hours. One thing to note: you do bus your own table here, which I personally don't mind at all! just something to be aware of when you visit. After I finished eating, I took a walk down Mississippi Avenue, which made the whole outing even better. It's such a charming stretch -- little boutique shops, a cute pet store, a piercing shop further down the street, and plenty of restaurants and dessert spots if you want to keep the day going. Comforting Salvadorian flavors, this spot is definitely worth stopping by.

Note: Their meals do not come with complimentary chips and salsa, something I have come to expect in this type of a setting so that was a bit of a disappointment, but not a deal breaker. If you want chips and salsa, the menu has a photo of the "amount" of chips and side dipping sauce you would receive for $5.00, so you can decide if you want to spend the money or not. I ordered the Chile Relleno and my husband ordered the Fajitas. Chile Relleno review: This is made with a poblano pepper, sweet potato, apple, quinoa, melted queso, veggies and garbanzo beans. This is not a typical filling for this dish, but that is exactly why I tried it. The veggies in my dish were carrots and zuchinni. I enjoyed this dish, the flavors of the veggies was very nice. My only complaint was when I cut into the pepper, the filling inside was a bit watery, as opposed to the filling on the plate which was a more appropriate consistency. As far as a spice level, I would give it a 3.5 out of five (five being very spicy). The presentation was beautiful as you can see from the photo), and this dish is at $20. It is plenty of food for one person. I would give this a 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. Now, many of you would not care for apple along with the other items in the filling, but I found the apple brought a little sweetness to the otherwise spicy filling, so it worked for me. My husband got the Fajitas. They are served with corn tortilla shells warmed in foil, a side of black beans and the filling which consisted of red and green bell peppers, onions, adobo sauce with chicken at $20.00. The menu shows it served on a plate, not on a hot skillet, but we found we prefer the "char" that a hot skillet provides this dish. Therefore, we give this dish a 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. Chuck also thought it was a bit spicy, as he said his mouth was "{on fire" after he started eating the dish. I don't know if he accidentally ate a hot pepper, or in general if this dish is served on the spicy side since this was our first visit there. I only mention this if you don't care for spicy items, this may not be a good choice for you. There is a good selection of beers - although I did not indulge this trip since it was lunch. Another reviewer mentioned the "smell" from the water glasses and sadly, we experienced the same during our visit. Therefore, I would skip the water and perhaps order something which comes in a bottle instead. This is a gluten-free restaurant for those of you on the hunt for this type of food. I would say this is worth a visit if you are in the area and are looking to try something different - a bit non-traditional than what you would expect.
