Love this place. Food is pretty good. Usually take it out. But eating in the bar is good also.

On our latest visit here I enjoyed a Small Guacamole and warm Tortilla Chips, along with spicy Red Salsa. Then while Diane worked through her Shrimp Quesadilla, I finished off three warm Flour Tortillas filled with a Side of Refried Beans, and a crunchy Shredded Beef Taco packed with meat. A Ground Beef Tostada adorned with numerous pieces of bright red tomatoes was saved for lunch the next day, which turned out to be a wise choice. It was delicious and, underpinned by two deep-fried Corn Tortillas, was very filling. In the restaurant we sat at a nice, roomy half booth. This was our second time at a Cuca's restaurant in as many days, but this was our first time at a sit down version. We were able to walk in on a Sunday afternoon and got seated at the bar right away. The waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I started a house margarita, which was strong but very drinkable. I ended up getting the taquito plate, and was surprised when it came out because it had six taquitos and I was expecting three taquitos based on the plates at the Cuca's Mexican Food walk-up I had been too before. The chicken taquitos were stuffed with chicken and smothered in guacamole and cheese. My wife had her usual bean and cheese burrito and said it was as good as always. Horrible Experience with Manager Jose and Host Julio! On January 30th I paid over $22 for chicken Enchiladas, side of rice and 3 chicken Taqito's. Only to find that they not only didn't give me chicken , they filled 2 tiny taco size tortillas with cheese and a rice filler. I had to bring it back twice Only to have it wrong a 2nd time. When I asked for the manager I was told he was 1st not there, then when I took a firm stance and stood my ground...the cook , who was also doubling as the manager ( Jose ) without even apologizing saying we can remake it... Basically gave me the same cheese mess again. I demanded to know who he reported to and he claim not to know telling me look on the door the number to corporate office was posted. I called while in the Redlands Logonia location never to get an answer only a message that voicemail wasn't set up. I filed a BBB Complaint and disputed the charge on my debit card due to the full refund for food I never consumed and had to return it twice , the entire order. I will not allow Cuca's to take money when I returned the Horrible, shrinkflation size portion in it's entirety. Julio and Jose both need to be fired! They cheated the wrong hard working woman. Jose posted my refund and attempted to recharge me when I left, thinking I wouldn't check my debit card. In what universe does Jose and Cuca's think they can steal from consumers when the entire order was brought back, I refused to eat any of that GARBAGE! read more

Food was cold. We went two weeks in a row to have menudo and pozole. The first Week Pozole wasn't hot we also ordered nachos and the cheese wasn't melted. We had a couple of beers also on the bar side but waitress was rude and we had to go track Her down to get refills and our check. $85 for the two of us. The following week My Man wanted to go again even though service was horrible. We arrived at 10:30 am and she told us all menudo and pozole were Sold out. Only an hour and a half after opening seemed strange and the place was empty like the week prior. We ordered entrees and they were cold again. I did not even eat most Of my food. Neither did My Boyfriend and he never complains. We did not stay for refills on beers and we are permanently done with this place. Our bill was $70 this time. We used to Come years ago all the time and never had these issues. There was a cute older couple we seen both weeks dining and they greeted us with smiles more friendly than the staff. This place has been a staple when we come to Redlands. Their chips are wonderful. My husband always orders the chile relleno "because it's so good!" Anything with their carne asada is wonderful. A 1000x yes! This has been my go to for decades. The consistency over the years hasn't changed and I keep coming back. There are times when this is dinner at least two times a year. So our kitchen is being renovated due to some structural damage with all the rain/snow that happened a few weeks ago. So my husband, dad, & his girlfriend all decided to go grab dinner at Cuca's Mexican food #3 for dinner. First and for most, I had Cuca's in Yucaipa all the time when I was in high school, and it was great. This time around it was pretty good, but not nearly as good as I remember. Service was good, staff was friendly, even when they gave our baby girl a children's menu, they didn't have crayons anymore but the waitress offered her pen and apologized. So I don't remember was everyone got but i took photos. My dad got a wet burrito of some short, my daughter just got the kid's quesadilla, my dads girlfriend got another burrito of some sort, my husband got the carne asada plate, and I got the chicken taquitos plate. The food was decent, not terrible but not the best either. The ambiance wasn't awesome but still clean, well kept, and nice for a little corner restaurant. I recommend giving it a try. My dad and his gf said they got pretty good drinks sometimes, but I don't drink so I can't provide an opinion on that. Will try again. read more

My husband just picked up dinner for us. I told him when he left to please make sure that they put the chile Verde sauce on my chile Relleno or I was going to lose it! They have screwed this up no less than 6 times, maybe more. He gets home, I open it up and sure enough, they've done it again! To add insult to injury, they put the enchilada in the same container. Now my Relleno has enchilada sauce on it!! which is worse than not getting my chili Verda sauce. They cannot get simple instructions correct. He said when he placed the order he told them not once but twice he did the exact same thing the last time he picked up food for us told not once but twice and they still can't get it straight. Come to think of it the last time we ate in the restaurant they did the same thing and I had to send it back. Also, half of my rice was fine the other half had hard pieces that you couldn't even eat. Haven't been to Cuca's for awhile so we had dinner at the Mentone location tonight. The restaurant was busy, but we were immediately seated and our drink order taken. Enjoyed the ambiance with the dimmed lighting and darkened walls. Our server was Josh and he was excellent....he was not only so nice, he was also knowledgeable. I had beef fajitas....portion was huge with alot of beef. It wasn't all peppers and onions which is a waste...it came with 3 tortillas and guacamole pico,beans and rice. Everything was fresh and delicious. My husband had cheese enchiladas and fries. Lots of sauce and cheese...delicious....I wasn't crazy about their salsa but asked for their green sauce which I loved! I love Cuca's. Best Mexican food around. Been going to various Cuca 's locations for decades. I am a senior citizen, so I have eaten at many Mexican food places throughout the years, and was totally SHOCKED when asking for a second basket of chips today and was told there would be an extra charge. I have seen that listed on menus throughout the years at different Mexican food restaurants, but have NEVER been charged for it. There were four of us eating at the table...the first basket went quickly. The second basket was only two dollars, but I have never experienced that extra charge. The server said it was the owner that is now requesting it. Just wanted to share that info, so others may not be as surprised as we were. Not sure if it is only this Cuca's location, or if our server didn't like us for some reason, or what happened. Otherwise, the food was delicious, and the server did well. It was the extra charge for an extra basket of chips for the four of us that left a bad taste in my mouth for returning to Cuca's anytime soon. read more

I've been going to different Cucas for decades. I loved the one in Rialto, when I worked out that way. My new favorite is on Lugonia. I sit at the bar a lot, however it doesn't matter where you sit, you get great service. First you get the best bowl of FREE tortilla chips & salsa you ever had !! Next you get excellent service. Food comes out fast & delicious. I love the burritos, tacos, flautist, quesadillas, however the Albondigas soup is a MUST TRY, thank me later. I always get some salsa to go. I make very good salsa & this is just a wee bit better than mine. Definitely homemade salsa, no jar over here No New York City picante. I wish their fast food Cucas were as good as the actual restaurants. They're not even close especially on the soup. Go to Lugonia Ave. & thank me later. read more

We called just about 5 minutes ago the lady who picked up the phone already seemed harsh. We asked politely if we could make a takeout order and this was at 7:40 PM. Apparently they close at eight. The lady then said well can you be here in 10 minutes we said of course. And then she scoffed and said I guess we could start an order for you. So then we asked for a chimichanga with beans and rice on the side. Simple, right? Again, she rudely replies with "so why don't you just make it a combo?" I said yes that works. We could hear her ask somebody else a question and then she came back to the phone and said we don't do combos for the chimichanga. At this point I was fed up with talking to someone who was rude and inconvenienced that I wanted to order food so I hung up and we will not be going there anytime soon. Lack of respect and customer service is beyond me. It's not like I was ordering a whole feast. It was one chimichanga. read more

Little. Cuca's on State street is best but twice I have been over charged by the new cashier. I am not sure if she is stealing money or saving the company food and ruining their reputation. Check your order from now on and let the manager know so he can fix the problem. I am still going as often as I can, but like everyone everywhere they have changed their menu and prices ti survive this inflation. Found a new Cuca's in Yucaipa. The meat tastes the same. Price s have risen but the quality of food and serving size are fine. I just go to the walk up and drive thru so I really don't have comments on ambiance. I go to State street in Redlands the most. We went on a Saturday for lunch and we were seated right away. They brought us chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa was so good. So flavorful!! My husband ordered the 1 item combo with the beef taquitos and I ordered the Grande Tostada with carne asada. The plates came and everything looked delicious. My husband said the taquitos were crispy and not greasy. And the beef was really tender. My tostada was really good too! Tender carne asada and the beans were so delicious. Chile Verde Burrito (Pork) Slowly simmered chunks of pork in a tomatillo sauce, refried beans, Mexican rice & cheese rolled into a large flour tortilla- $13.05 Was really tasty but not much pork had mostly beans and rice. The salsa has a really good flavor and spice was on point. Portion was small for the price and definitely needs more pork since it's called a Chile Verde Burrito. read more

Unfortunately my husband and I got food poisoning from here! I'm not sure what it was but we were throwing up all night after we both ate here. My husband had a chicken wet burrito and I had a chicken enchilada and 2 flautas. Food was very mid. This is not authentic Mexican by any means. The service was a bit slow but they only had one waitress. I wouldn't come back again after that horrible food poisoning. If you're used to eating authentic Mexican food, don't come here unless you want to be on the toilet all night throwing up. read more

We have been here several times and it's mostly like the Mexican food back home. They really know their menu and which dishes, sauces etc are gluten free. The table salsa is spicy but not too spicy. The tacos are giant! I've had the fish taco and the chicken taco and they are both fantastic. I've also had the chicken veg and the chicken tortilla soup with modifications. They are very good about making sure your dish is gluten free, I ordered a tamale not knowing that it came with sauce that wasn't gluten free and they took it back immediately and remade it. I appreciated that! No pics, ate too fast, lol, I'll get some next time. The only thing I recommend is that they bring water to the table right away. No one seems to do that around here maybe it's a Cali thing. I also like the fact that it is nice and quiet in there! It's a good atmosphere for a dinner where you can hear each other talk! I was so sad coming here tonight. Few things... our waitress didn't write our order down. My mom ordered a chicken flauta, beef tamale and chili relleno (3 item combo) and was served a beef taquito, a chicken tamale and the relleno. I ordered a veggie burrito (wet- $4 to add sauce wtf). I got basically a red and green sliced peppers burrito. It had a little rice and a little beans but 80% not cooked peppers. As we're sitting down eating, next to the bar, the waitress and the bar tender are laughing and tell each other "you're so F'n dumb" (they used the actual words). Went to pick up to go food from this restaurant. Owner has changed and so has food quality and flavor. Ordered Chile Verde Keto Bowl, no green sauce anywhere. Two ground beef tacos with rice and beans, ground beef almost invisible snd what was there was overcooked. Don't even provide chips as accompaniment to meal unless you pay extra. I brought my father here for lunch on his Valentine birthday as he wanted Mexican food and hadn't had in some time. It was our first visit to Cuca's which a friend had recommended. It is a clean, sit down restaurant with a small bar and friendly staff. My father ordered a Chile Relleno and beans which he enjoyed. I am Vegan and went with the Vegetable soup and a side salad, no cheese with balsamic dressing and I added avocado. The food was fresh and tasty as were their chips & salsa.
