    Asada Quesadilla

Nice spot for food! I went inside and I was impressed with how clean the dining area and salsa bar was. I got a steak burrito and it was good. We also got the quesadilla and I wished the filling was a little more but it wasn't bad. I would be open to trying other things here.

The carne asada fries were amazing and I got a strawberry horchata to go with it, also great. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was inviting and pretty modern.

Hubby got the fish taco and shrimp taco and I got the chicken quesadilla, all delicious! The service is wonderful!

This is the new location (second one) for Cucho's and is located in the former Pizza Hut building on Butler Road in Mauldin. It is set quite far back off the road in between Cook Out and the Waffle House, so you need to be on the lookout for it. The method is to order and pay at the counter, receive your drink and a number placard for the table and they bring the food to you. Options are street tacos (pastor, asada, pollo, chorizo, birria) with cilantro & onion and fancy tacos with themes, e.g. Steak Korean Tako (steak marinated in Asian sauces, grilled, served with shredded cabbage slaw and chipotle sauce). Or the Grilled Chicken Taco (grilled chicken, lettuce, jack and cheddar cheeses, pico and spicy lime ranch. I had these two that are described. There is a salsa bar with a variety of salsa available - salsa verde, chipotle, dragon hot, creamy lime, etc. The menu also has burrito's, quesadillas, salads, bowls and even a cheeseburger. There are a lot of tables and this is a spacious restaurant. The taco's were enough for me for lunch, having two, they were messy and full of toppings. With just the two, my bill was just under $9. Many people review these as the best tacos in Greenville. This was my first visit. I would compare them more to a Willie Taco or Tipsy Taco than to a more classic such as 4 Tacos Locos (my fav.) or Mextizo (my second fav.). It is just not what I am looking for in a taco. I will try this again since it is close to work, quick, inexpensive and it is good, just not as traditional as I wanted. Their street tacos will be tried on my next visit.

    Taco asada. Meat was fatty.

Awful doesn't even begin to describe it. The service was rude and condescending. $40 for 3 tacos and cheese dip. Cheap meat no salsa on the "salsa" bar. First and last time. Don't waste your time or money. RUDE!!!

Upon entry to my right is the much advertised salsa bar with about 8-10 choices ranging in heat levels, both green and red, and both creamy and not, and a mango salsa for good measure. It's all you want from the salsa bar to accompany the free chips delivered to the table. I was meeting my middle son for dinner, just the two of us, and upon being seated, ordered a draft Negra Modelo, a darker beer, and it had been a while since I had one of these former favorites. "Small or large?" Was the question. "Large" was the answer. I think this beer was a 32 ounce beer! (See photo). I had two Tinga chicken street tacos and one asada steak taco, corn tortillas and as is the norm, cilantro and onions. My son had two asada and three pastor. Service was attentive but not too much so. A few families showed up for an early dinner. A few barflies hit the bar for a happy hour (Thursday). Restrooms are clean. Tacos were good, just a bit dry, salsas were good. Tortillas were a little drier than most. All in all a serviceable meal, nothing bad but nothing outstanding, good beer. I would definitely return, but it's not close to some of the best tacos in town.

Chips and salsa are not complimentary, but you do get these cute little wagon wheel looking chips called duros. They're like puffed air and remind me of pork rinds but not as crunchy and probably made from flour. The drinks are all delicious and strong. The margaritas are small but watch out, they'll sneak up on you! Lots of options. They specialize in tequila and mezcal with flights as an option. The bar is the spot to be; bartenders are friendly and they have small TVs to watch whatever sports are in season. The atmosphere is a little lacking in my opinion, but it's all about the food. Food is delicious and the portions are larger than expected. We got the chips and queso, Heidi's Flautas, soup of the day, and the Birria Egg Rolls. Too much food for 2 people so we took some home. Location is in a strip mall; parking is tight and can be a challenge. We won't let that stop us though! We will be back for those delicious Birria Egg Rolls and margaritas!

Our waiter was a superstar- in talking with him he shared he was from Ecuador and made suggestions for our lunch choice. We started with the beef and chicken empanadas- very good- and an order of maduros- ripe plantains. We should have stopped there because I was almost full at that point. For our entrees we chose shrimp mofongo- which we really see in small cities being that it is the national dish of Puerto Rico- and the paella for one. Both were wonderful. I would argue that the size of the paella should be be renamed as a lid of a trashcan serving. It was giant and we barely put a dent in it before asking for a to go box. I highly recommend this spot!

The only thing I'd change is using fresh-caught shrimp to give it more of that seaside flavor. The whole red snapper with coconut sauce was also full of flavor. Other things we liked: the decor was nice, our waitress was a friendly young lady who made the experience pleasant, and the restroom was very clean. Overall, a solid spot for tasty Latin dishes and a comfortable atmosphere.
