The exterior and interior are both very nice, feeling clean/new and setting the scene for a memorable meal. - The complimentary bean dip and salsa bar are always appreciated at P&B. This bean dip was missing something, I'm not completely sure what, but salt and pepper helped. The green and pumpkin-based creamy salsas had the right flavors but were a bit watered down. The red salsa I tried (see photo) was dead-on delish, and the tomatillo was fantastic, with vibrancy and depth; IMO no Mexican food chain does tomatillo salsa better than Papas. - The Huevos Divorciados was a dish I'd had before but never at this chain. This one was mediocre and uninspired. Nice runny yolks would improve it considerably. - To me, if you're not serving esquite with fresh corn, you should just leave it off the menu. No matter how much you try to dress up canned corn, it gives "grade-school cafeteria" vibes. - Service was friendly and attentive - high marks here! read more

The food is always good and plentiful. Go hungry! Love the Fajitas and the burritos are also delicious. The complimentary chips are served with a good bean dip and there is a salsa bar. Only complaint is the cups for salsa are too small. Service is very fast. Be ready to eat when you order 'cause the food will be out in minutes. Good beer selection. But the Margaritas are the star. Several flavors to choose from. You can't go wrong with the house Margarita. The ambiance is Mexican family restaurant. There are booths in the bar if you'd rather be away from kids. First I'm a little confused.. while I understand kids meals are typically for kids, I'm not sure I see an issue with an adult who does not want to eat a lot getting a kids meal. When I tried to get a kids meal for my 12-year-old I was told it would be a dollar more because she was not 10 or under. When I asked are they providing more food I was told no. Rather confused over the idea about if my 12-year-old eats that food and is fine how is the business out any money? This is the first time I've ever been told she cannot buy a kids meal. As for the service I was very disappointed in the fact that I had to chase my waitress down more than once to get refills and to pay my bill. I definitely will not visit this establishment anymore but will continue to visit the one near Hendersonville where I always have an excellent visit. read more

Great Mexican restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we loved the vibe. Very bright and colorful, made us forget we were in Spartanburg! The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. Our food came out amazingly quick and tasted fresh and full of flavor. We had the chicken fajitas and the burrito. The only reason why I am giving them a 2star and not a 1star because the waitress was nice and were given chips and bean sauce. But we sat there 31minutes with no service (this was before Covid) the place was not all packed and yes we could have left (but we were hungry) and we finally decided to leave . Went here yesterday for my daughter's birthday and she and I ordered chicken chimichanga's and to our surprise they are not what they use to be. They now use a dark brown bean gravy and the chicken was hard to find. It use to have grilled white meat chicken but not so any longer. That was the last time we will be going there after going there there for ten years. It's too bad when a they change from great to not so great! read more

Okay I am biased I like the manager a lot - hes really a great kid and doing what he can to make the place fun, enjoyable and serving great hot food. I usually order the same 2-3 things all involving pork. Im never disappointed. I like the salsa bar but I think it needs to be more clear whats hot and whats not. Everyone there seems confused. The chips are hot and tasty and they give you refills. The chips come with beans which is ok. Food comes out pretty quickly even on nights where they are slammed. Theres always large enough portions that I have enough to go and have for lunch the next day. The reason I cant go with a 5 star: The staff is hit or miss. Sometimes you have to wait for anyone to take your order or you have to ask someone to take your order. Sometimes the server is not friendly and isnt the greatest. You have to ask for refills, silverware or a check etc. Theres one waiter there that I think hates people. He looks pissed everything you ask for and will argue with you. I just ask to not be sat in his section at this point. The menus are dirty sometimes. So are the tables - usually under neath. These are all things that the owner and management can easily remedy. Overall this is a great place for Mexican in town. read more

Fast service and staff is attentive. I had the shrimp Chimichanga and it was loaded with shrimp! It comes with rice a shredded lettuce with a dollop of sour cream on top. Queso dip was warm and had to send back to heat it up. My daughter ordered a steak burrito and was not hot almost room temperature. Interesting little authentic Mexican grill. Managed to make happy hour and get a large DosXX for $3.00. They bring chips and bean dip and have a salsa bar. The table salsa and Papas salsa were both good. Maybe not include the cilantro stems for a cleaner bite. The carne asada steak was awesome. The Spanish rice was a little bland and reminiscent of rice a roni, not bad, just not your typical Mexican restaurant rice. If you find yourself in Spartanburg, it's worth the stop. Very unprofessional...we walked in and asked to sit at the bar, they said "there was no bartender do we couldn't sit at the bar" however there was a couple sitting at the bar with drinks and a server taking their order. We proceeded to sit at the bar since others were there and the server NEVER acknowledged us. We will not return to this restaurant. read more
