This is a chain restaurant. I like it because it is relatively healthy without the extra calories and cholesterol. Normally I order the spicy pork bowl - yesterday it was the carne asada bowl. The meal was fine, but next time I'll stick with the pork - it's more tender & moist. The yellow rice that was served with it was non-descript in taste and a tad on the hard side. But nonetheless, the service at Tropical Grille is streamlined and efficient, so the wait is usually not long at all. With a drink, tax & tip the meal was about $20. read more

Great food and selection everyone can find something they would like. I got the chicken and veggie bowl it was a great high protein healthy option. They also had wild caught salmon and burgers that looked good. The employees were very kind and helpful. They do lots of good work in the community and are a great christian company. This used to be my go to for dinner. The restaurant is always clean and the employees are polite. The problem is that some time ago they must have changed the meat vendor and now the chicken and beef are horrible. In my opinion it tastes like processed meat of some kind. I am so sorry they made the switch, it used to be like Chicken Kitchen back in Miami, now I feel like it tastes like whatever is in chicken nuggets, Disappointed. My wife & I had dinner at Tropical Grille this past week. They never disappoint! I got the new fried chicken sandwich with ham and the curry sauce. Wonderful! And I like that they've added fries to the menu. Golden and crispy! My wife got the white meat chicken fresco bowl with yellow rice and beans. Cuban food - yum! The food here is very authentic and tasty. The portions are MASSIVE - as in I don't even think I ate half of a meal. (Don't worry, the rest is in my fridge patiently awaiting the due attention I will give it tomorrow for lunch) The restaurant is in the heart of downtown and not far from Falls Park. The yucca fries were excellent and so was the chicken chop bowl. My daughter had the steak bowl, which I of course, tasted as well. The steak was decent too and a nice cut of meat, but could have been more flavorful. However... the sauces compensated for any flavor shortage on the steak as I happily dipped it into each one of them. I tried the garlic flavored one and the sweet red sauce - both were delicious. One of my favorite quick service meals to have in Greenville! The owners and staff have such a cool concept going with the restaurants. I really like the Cuban inspired menu with healthy options to accompany and they get saucy too; homemade sauces to spice up your meal. There are several locations, sadly Charleston location recently closed, but they are all delicious. The slow roasted pork is what we go for usually, but sometimes I go for the leaner chicken option. All the proteins are delicious and you can customize as you go. I would recommend adding some veggies to the dishes, but outside of that, you are all set......well there is the sauce too. Honestly I buy a bottle of the curry mustard and the garlic jalapeño to keep my fridge stocked. I really like both sauces on pretty much any combo of food, but tacos at home are next level. For starters, $3.29 for 4 slices of sweet plantain is absurd, since an entire one costs about 50 cents. Next, I had the Cuban pork bowl and while it was tasty, it was served lukewarm. My stomach started aching before I could even finish the meal. Sad to say, I'm pretty sure I will be sick to my stomach. Maybe the pork is not being stored at the right temperature? So impressed with the Chicken Fresco bowl! My sis and I split the large and we were full. Full of joy and flavors and healthy goodness! The chicken was flavorful and juicy. The yellow rice was cooked great. The veggies were diced perfectly for forks. Yucca fries are wonderful and crunchy! Dip them in the sauces. The side of fried plantains was a nice sweet treat. Don't get me started on the sauces! Wow so grateful the manager gave us one of each, green, white, and yellow. I loved every single one for different reasons! The green is a bit spicy, the white is garlicy, and the yellow is indian inspired. Awesome sauces! The location on Main Street is super convenient and the inside is bright and clean. My cheap, fast, healthy food option before finding Tropical Grille was Chipotle. Now there's Tropical Grille, the better and downtown option! Their menu is pretty straightforward - salads, bowls or wraps/sandwiches. They have different grilled meats with veggies and you ask for one of their signature sauces to mix in. The sauces we tried were guava BBQ and cilantro garlic which were both pretty stellar! My favorite part is that you can add on plantains which I absolutely love...we'll call those healthy for my sake ;) The service is speedy - you order at the counter and they bring it out within 10 min. The food is so worth the price. I paid about $6 for my deluxe chopped bowl and it filled me up. If you're all about meal prepping but don't have time to cook, they offer prepped meals too! read more

Always fresh and tasty, I particularly love the tropical bowls that I've had in the past but decided to try a pita wrap recently, which ended up being a bit dry. They will waste your time, take absolutely forever, get your order wrong and the food quality will be crap and you'll get smaller servings than any other location. I was in Greenville for three days and ate here twice! If you've been to Pollo Tropical it's a lot like that. Tropical/Hispanic food. I like this much better than Pollo Tropical because they have some great low carb options including cauliflower rice!!! I ordered the steak and cheese, onion and mayo sandwich on cuban bread. It took a while to get my order. Bowls were quicker to order. The bread was good, but the steak not so much. This is not the typical steak and cheese sandwich. The steak is one piece of tough, dried meat. The onions were as if they were boiled in oil, they were that greasy. Mayonnaise was scant and the cheese even more so. First bites was a flavorless piece of tough meat with fat. I probably won't be going back.
