I recently moved to the Petaluma area and live near downtown. My colleagues suggested me to try out Cucina Paradisio and they claimed to be the best Italian food in town. Me and my daughter where sauntering in downtown and we came across this gem in the end of town and it had the sidewalk covered with a temporary tent and heaters blowing and we had a cosy little corner table. We ordered bruschetta , chicken pasta and grilled salmon with vegetables and I must tell you all three dishes were just fantastic. I had heard that all dishes and restaurants in Petaluma serve good food because the ingredients are so fresh but this blew my mind The pasta and the sauce was just amazing. Last night myself, my wife and son dined @ Cucina, Paradiso.. We've been there many times over the years we live about a mile away. for the most part, it's always been a great experience there and this really isn't a complaint about the service more of the price increase and the quality of the food. I ordered $28 pork chops that were thin with a couple of potatoes and a few vegetables and they were tough. My son had meatballs that were dry rather than go any further with the criticism they need to change their menu and if they're gonna raise the prices-improve the quality of the food it's sad when the highlight of my $160 billwas the bruschetta and my cappuccino. there are many places to dine in Petaluma. Holy smokes. Whatever is happening here these days is messed up. We stopped at a spot we thought we could rely on, a place we had loved as a couple and eventually as parents. But tonight. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering dinner with our 5 1/2 year-old and still no dinner was in sight. If their intention is to scare away parents who come in with a kid, mission accomplished. We couldn't even find anyone of staff to ask for a check for my glass of wine and a bowl of soup. We have no shame about the fact that we just walked out to get our kid a pizza and put her to bed. Hope the staff enjoyed our food if the order was ever even put in. I have been wanting to dine here for awhile and finally I got off work earlier enough to walk over for dinner. I sat at the bar, typical for me when dining solo. The restaurant was packed at 730pm on a Monday night. Immediately given menu and specials and beverage order taken. I ordered the Polenta with mushrooms and Gorgonzola as my appetizer. I did also request bread, not sure if your meal normally comes with it or if you have to ask for it. The bread arrived first and came with a delightful olive oil and garlic dipping sauce. I knew I was off to a good start with that. My appetizer arrived and was perfectly broiled on the top and still very moist in the center. For my entrée I ordered the vegetarian version of one very large ravioli. The pasta was light and homemade, the filling was mostly zucchini and while good, not outstanding. The sauce however, was TO DIE FOR! It was the lightest tomato sauce and sent me back to memories of Italy. Service was pleasant and I will be back. read more

We took my brother-in-law here for his birthday. I was anticipating a wonderful experience and exceptional food. I had envisioned a pleasant atmosphere with old style career waitstaff. I was however disappointed. First, the room was overcrowded. There were too many tables and too close together. I was difficult to carry a conversation without talking very loud. Waiters keep bumping into our chairs and we were seated right outside the kitchen and heard clanking pans. The food was just ok. I had the halibut. It was very thin. I was expecting a smaller thick piece. And, it was overloaded with vegetables. There were so many customers it was impossible to get good service. That being said the place is very popular and we were there on a Saturday night 7:00 PM. Customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. I will not to back. read more

Warm fresh ciabatta bread made from scratch & the high quality herb infused olive oil for dipping was delicious. Great first impression. My family of 4 started w/ calamari, bruschetta & roasted eggplant w/ burrata & grape tomato salad to share. The calamari (not battered) which made it so much better! It came with was baby cuttlefish, cannellini beans, arugula, celery & a light vinaigrette. Light, fresh & a perfect star to our dining experience. The Bruschetta had the best ripe tomatoes ever! Drizzled with a little garlic, basil & again...amazing olive oil. Simple but packed with bright flavors! The eggplant burrata was heavenly. Good amount of burrata which made me so happy! The butternut squash soup was velvety & well balanced. So perfect for the season. All of our 4 pastas were incredible!!!! You can taste the fresh made pasta. Cooked perfectly. Not mushy or overcooked which can easily happen with fresh pasta. All 4 sauces were executed perfectly. The consistency was beautiful. The servings were just right. Portions were plenty but, not obnoxious. Now for dessert. We were already full from eating our entire meal. No doggie bags for us. It was all that good that we left nothing on our plates. But, we had to try a couple desserts since everything we had ordered was so good. Our 3 desserts were phenomenal! The crème brûlée had a thick caramelized crunchy topping that cracked to allow you to dig into that perfectly light yellow custard that wasn't overpowered by eggs. It was just right! The tiramisu was firm yet, perfectly soaked in the coffee & alcohol. I tasted the cocoa powder, mascarpone & drunk ladyfingers in every bite! Oh my was it perfection! I usually don't carry on so long about a place but this is an exception. The staff was wonderful. The place was charming & full of life. We even met the Chef as he came to the front of the house to greet patrons. His culinary background is fascinating! You have to say hello to Chef Dennis & hear his story when you dine in. We ordered two penne dish; mine was with seafood. Overall it tasted fine; very tomato-y, but nothing too special. I have to say the rave reviews raised my expectations and I was slightly disappointed. Service was a bit slow; sometimes it's hard to get the staff attention. I took a long time to decide on what to eat, but this is one of those places where it doesn't matter what you order you can pretty much guarantee it will be amazing. Beware that after eating here the bar for Italian will be high and if you are like me you will compare every ravioli you eat thereafter to Cucina Paridiso. Cute first date spot. I already forgot what the thing I ordered was called but it was some sort of pasta pouch thing that the waiter joked was like an "Italian burrito" which was pretty darn funny. The hostess and waiter were super friendly and welcoming. Clearly the folks working here are happy and that makes a difference. Despite being somewhat busy the service was very prompt. Anyway, my "Italian burrito" and my date's dish were both great although the presentation on my dish was uninteresting. Yes, I'm complaining that it didn't look amazing. I know... I'm weird. But seriously, I haven't had actual Italian food at a decent restaurant and while and now I realize how much I miss that. I definitely want to come back and try more dishes that I can't pronounce! My only complaint if I had to have one was the pre-food-arrival bread was lame. The olive oil sauce it came with was darn good though! They should call up Union Hotel Restaurant in Santa Rosa and find out how they make their fabulous breadstick thingies and then Cucina Paradiso would get seven stars from me! I'm quite budget-conscious and most good Italian places don't really align with my cheapness, but we got out of here for about $40 (not including tip) and that's exceptional. My wife and friends have had other dishes and none had any complaints. All were excellent. They have a nice wine selection as well. The service is always excellent and even though it can be a little loud at times, the inside of the restaurant is warm and inviting.
