My son and his friend was hungry and we were looking for a place with a simple menu for two teenagers to eat at. While walking, we heard music coming from this place and decided to stop and looked at their menu. They had burgers and hot dogs, sold! It looked to me like a tiki/dive bar but they served food and cocktails and had live entertainment. The boys sat down and I left them for a bit to do some shopping down the street. When I came back, I was able to sit with them and enjoyed the show. We really loved the singer. She sang some familiar ballads and we had a good time singing along. She really worked the crowd and had a great voice. My son said his burger was really good and he ate the whole thing! Shocking, considering how picky he is. Service is a little slow and you really have to flag someone down to get the check. We could've stayed there longer but it was getting late and we had some more exploring to do. Old bastion of Waikiki. It's super tacky and the drinks suck but that's the charm. Live music by old, aging rockers playing covers of the 70s and 80s. Actually they're in their 70s probably too. Used to be the only place in Waikiki you could get a laulau--and a cheap one at that. Maybe they got rid of the Hawaiian Plate during the pandemic. The burger and other stuff are decent chow, good to get in your belly as you singalong to Oye Como Va and Pretty Woman. A huge fail on behalf of the service and management team here. I sat at a wobbly table and ordered a pina colada, lau lau, and loco moco. The drink came immediately but yet I waited over 30 minutes and still no food. They totally forgot to put in the order and said it was because a group of 8 people caused a backup in the kitchen which is simply nonsense when theres about 50 other guests in the restaurant. The $17 pina colada I ordered had absolutely no flavor and very little liquor so dont waste your money on it. After requesting my dishes 2 more times and waiting about 40 minutes I ended up paying for my drink and telling them to cancel the dinner order. If they had the honor to waive the drink I would have given them 2 stars. However they only deserve one for the horrible level of service. The only thing decent here was the singer with her lineup of 70s covers geared towards the mature tourist crowd. They dont care about serving food only drinks. Forget this place. Period read more

This use to be one of my fave venues to have cocktails, relax and have some authentic dishes and enjoy the live music. Since the new owner has taken over this place, there is no authenticity about it all. Bringing four other guests for there first time the other night the little lady that I assume is the new owner has a bad attitude with her customers and was very rude to my guests. We are all in our 50's and do not need to be disrespected and talk down to over seating, especially when your staff seated us in the first place. We got Virgin Pina Coladas in the pineapples that Cuckoo is well-known for and thought they were below average. The pineapple flavor overwhelmed the coconut cream flavor completely and it was not the frozen slush consistency we expected. The pineapple was large though and there was a lot of drink in it; however, we unfortunately didn't finish ours because we didn't really like them. Our drinks were also brought out at different times and we had to remind them that we ordered another. This spot is a fun time and a half! I was introduced to this bar by the cheesiest man that I know, Mr. Craig G himself! (Just kidding Craig... you ain't that cheesy!). We came here to catch up over a few drinks. Speaking of the drinks... these drinks probably aren't for light weights. Yep... they make them stroooong AF! Mark my words. They may look all pretty while you're sippin' on them out of that coconut but they are deadly! I had a Hawaiin chi chi (my favorite Hawaiian cocktail) served in a fresh pineapple and Craig had a lovable Mai Tai. Not really sure how he managed to drink that Mai Tai because the sip that I had was just too much! I really enjoyed my chi chi! I mean, who doesn't love drinks served in coconuts and pineapples? What's really cool about this spot is that it's off the beaten path. Not really touristy and very low key if you're looking to escape from the crowd. Now back to the cheesiness... there's lots of it! It's lit up like a Christmas tree with all sorts of fake beach backdrops that pose as a perfect picture taking opportunities! When you walk in, they have those funny little boards that you can put your face in and pretend like you're somebody else. It's super colorful with all kinds of fake plants! This bar is located outside but it's covered by a ton of umbrella shades. The drinks are relatively cheap and the bartenders are really cool. We stayed until closing time and not once did they attempt to kick us out. They were patient and accommodating I really dug that! It's a bit divey and they also serve food, but I haven't yet tried any of it yet. A tourist-y spot for all your pineapple drink needs! I came here on a recommendation from my friend in Hawaii. The place is decorated in a fun way and definitely makes you feel "typical Hawaii". While we didn't order food, I ordered the pineapple drink in a pineapple and my boyfriend ordered the Mai Tai. The pineapple drink is great! It's not very strong in terms of alcohol, but it tastes basically like a pineapple smoothie. On the other hand, the Mai Tai was SUPER STRONG. The bar area seemed nice. There was a musician playing, plenty of tables available, and stocked bathroom facilities. There was a separate cashier and two bartenders to make sure the line was moving smoothly. I appreciated that they were keeping up with the crowd. However, it always irks me when a bar doesn't support designated drivers. I usually get a soda water rather than a still water, as I think it tastes better and it gives the appearance that you are having a standard adult beverage. I was absolutely shocked when they said I would have to fork over $3.50 for a sad, small little soda water in a paper cup. (I would pay that price for mineral water or even a can of soda water, but not straight from the soda fountain button!) There are many other bars in the area that charge $3.50 for a beer or even hard liquor during happy hour. At that price, some drinkers might be tempted to give up their DD duties. We were pretty excited to give this place a try based on other reviews. It's all outside but you really forget about being outside with all the tiki decor and fun atmosphere. The server recommended some things and we ordered the calamari, fish and chips, spicy ahi bowl and a cheeseburger. We also got a piña colada and Hawaiian chi chi to drink. The drinks were really strong, our grandmother couldn't finish hers and I had to stop after 1 because I had to be able to legally drive home. The calamari was great, they were the size of onion rings which was cool. I really wanted to love the spicy ahi tuna poke bowl because it looked amazing with a generous serving of ahi. It was just really salty. My husband said the burger was average and the fries tasted like freezer burned fries. Our grandmother got the fish n chips, these big fried medallions of sea bass were really tasty. The perfect tiki bar food. Once the food came the server asked us how things looked and we didn't see her for a while. As salty as the poke was, I was there for a good time so I just ate it. The band started to play and they really transformed the whole vibe. Because we had gotten there earlier, things were still opening and it was just a cute chill tiki bar. When the live music started it was a fun upbeat party type tiki bar that you wish you could dance at. When we got home after about an hour I was pretty sick feeling and still have an upset stomach as I write this the next day. Maybe the salty poke? We waited 10 minutes to be seen, then it took 10 minutes to get drinks ordered, the food was bland, and the poke came out warm at a serving temperature that would violate the holding temperature health code. We would have said something about our food, but seeing our server was rare. $175 down the drain. Save your money and go next door to aloha table, everything was WAY better.
