TOP NOTCH. Every once in a while I find a place on Yelp, read reviews, stop in, and things are great. This place knocks away any Mexican restaurant near and far. Now, Ive been to many...but this place has food that will send you places. We also enjoyed a nightly special where they hand make guacamole tableside....our server made the best guac I have ever tasted....and it wasn't the creamy blended into oblivion type...it was chunky, delicious, with lime and pepper....ohh mama. Great interior and such friendly staff here. Drinks are the cheapest Ive ever encountered...not sure why Florida prices aren't this cheap but I was impressed. Even the Mexican made 40 pound chairs are unique and give the place a real touch of class. I'm a fan....I'll be back. read more

The place is trying to be a little bit more upscale than the rest of the Mexican restaurants in the area. If you enjoy a spicy salsa, this is your place. Most everything on the menu will put some sort of flame in your mouth. I enjoy spicy when it comes to my food, but one member in our party had a bit of a time getting used to her meal. Now keep in mind the place has just opened, so things are bound to change with how the dishes are prepared. I do look forward to trying this place in the future to see if there are any changes. Maybe we caught them on a good day, but unlike the other reviews we had GREAT service! Eduardo was awesome. There's nothing fancy about this place, but with good food, drinks, and service you can't go wrong. We had a margarita (they don't skimp on the tequila), michelada (delish), fajitas, and the flautas (stuffed with chicken) for under $35. My husband and I have been eating here since it opened a while back. At first we enjoyed it as the food was very good and the service, while sometimes a little slow, was tolerable. The last several times we have eaten here, the service has been terrible. Last night we had to order drinks 3 times before getting them, asked for water which we never got and when we wanted another round of drinks we had to go to the bar and ask for them. I ordered a shrimp chimichanga and when the food finally came it was chicken. It took so long to get the food that I figured we'd be there all night if I reordered so I let it slide. The poor service wasn't because they were busy because there were only about four tables of folks. One family came in and were seated only to get up and leave after some time passed and no one waited on them. I must say the food is still good if and when you finally get it. read more

Had beef enchiladas and a beef burrito. Food wasn't terrible, but was bland -- no spice, no heat. Same with the chips and salsa. Service was extremely slow. Took a long time for our food to come out. Server did not offer to refill our chips or salsa, nor did she apologize for the long wait. The decor was nice, probably the nicest of the Mexican restaurants I've been to in the area. As for the food, I'd order something different and give them another try. However, they really need to do something about the poor service. read more

This used to be a very good Mexican food establishment. I don't know if they've changed ownership over the last few months or what but they rarely have enough servers, our cheese dip which is normally white was yellow, the chips were cold and stale, the steak in the cheesy steak and rice was burnt to a crisp! Did not have the best service tonight. Server never came back to check on us after food was delivered. We ordered sour cream and requested it to be brought out first to have with our salsa. Never came at all. Ordered steak tacos and they came out with steak and taco shell. No lettuce, no cheese, nothing. Everything was great until we got the check . Asked to talk to manager. David came to table said prices changed two weeks ago. We said it was false advertising since prices were 2-3 dollars cheaper on menu. He said it wasn't his problem. Said he'd come back with adjustments but never did. We were the only two people in the restaurant at 4:30 pm. The waitress brought us chips and salsa and 10 minutes went by..no drink or food orders..nothing. We left. Two waitresses and one waiter were at the front of resturant on their cell phones and one waiter was setting at a table by the kitchen. This use to be a great resturant...but not anymore. I don't know what happened. I didn't recognize any of the workers from my previous visits. They must have sold the resturant. Don't waste your time. Amazing. I eat here at least once a week and will continue to come back until the day I die. If you want amazing Mexican food, this is the place to go. Look, this is typical Tex-Mex food with far too much salt and MSG in everything. Its not bad to have dinner after golf with a buddy but not to bring an out of town guest or even someone you really like.. You wont get sick for sure but not a place you plan ahead to go. Same as almost every Mexican place here in MT Juliet with the exception of Carreta Mexican Fast Food on Lebanon Rd. They are the real deal. read more

First time at Woodfire MJ. Celebrating our anniversary. All around we were satisfied & will go back. Steak (beef tenderloin) & pork chop were delicious. Vegetable sides could have been bigger but we had an appetizer so we were satisfied. Key lime pie was amazing!! It did seem casual & very loud for a tab of $100. (We did have a $36 bottle of wine.). Restaurant has tin ceilings & no art work on the walls which might help with the acoustics. Again food was delicious so if you aren't looking for ambience & a quite romantic dinner you will like it. read more

Worst restaurant experience in a long time. This location was less than half full when I arrived with a friend for a late afternoon snack. Our server seemed rushed and unhappy when she arrived at the table, took our drink order and went away. Our drinks arrived shortly and we placed an order for an appetizer and one a la carte taco; that's where the problems began. The app arrived quickly - how long does a small bowl of queso take, anyway? The a la carte taco got 'lost in translation'. First of all, our server never stopped at our table again in the 45-50 minutes that we were there. She was seen racing all over our side of the restaurant, but never again came by our table. The single, a la carte taco took more than half an hour, delivered by some poor kid who said "You ordered a taco?" (Uh, yeah, back in the Mesozoic era.) I said, "Yeah, I did, but it's 30 minutes late, so here's what I want - I want the taco to go and another tea in a to-go cup". As he turned away from the table, guess who came roaring by? Our server! I heard her say to the kid "he didn't order it to go". (No, I didn't, mostly because I was hoping to eat it AT the restaurant sometime before the November election.) Under my breath, I muttered, "Pick it up". By this point she was in the doorway about 10 feet away. She turned around and said, "What?" I responded, "You're slow". Her excuse? - "Well, I'm not a cook", and she disappeared. The kid returned shortly with the taco (What, no tea? Nope. Am I gonna ask a second time? Nope). Just after that our server dropped off the check. **Time for full disclosure - I've spent 5 years in my life as a server. I go out of my way to be kind, even helpful, to servers. I also generally over-tip, as many veteran servers do, if only because they know how tough a job it can be.** In spite of this, I left $13.00 on a $12.71 bill. It's not that I didn't have the money, it's just that I didn't want my change from a twenty to suffer the same fate as my lonely taco and take 30-35 minutes to reach the table. (You may also notice that I was charged full price for this experience.) I complain so rarely about restaurant service. Thus, this complaint is a reliable barometer of how bad this experience was. It wasn't just the poor service or the non-existent food or the fact that the kitchen seems to operate at geriatric speed. It was the whole feel of the visit to Los Compadres that made me uncomfortable. I just didn't like it. Bottom line? A single, a la carte taco that takes more than 30 minutes to reach a table on a slow-to-medium day is evidence of problems bigger than any customer can solve. Don't bother stopping at this restaurant. If it's still in operation by Labor Day, I'll be shocked. Then again, I won't know because I'm never going near it again. Neither should you. read more

Horrible', I went in for lunch for the first time on 6/24/13 at the Mt Juliet location. There was one other table of guests so I should have walked out then. Drinks were all flat with incorrect carbination mix, the food was awful (inedible) and despite the place being empty none of the 3 servers bothered to check on me. I waited and waited for the check but had to track someone down myself. When I asked if the owners were there to complain they were not on site. Prices were even higher than their competitors, I'll go to one of the other 6 Mexican restaurants in town next time. Oh and ditto on the bad salsa comment below, I thought it had a heavy pepper taste which was offputting. IF they can't make good salsa why are they still in business?? read more

Absolutely RUDE waitress! This is a new restaurant in Mt Juliet, so we were anxious to try it. My wife's fish tacos were good, my enchiladas were small and good, but not outstanding, and our margaritas were well mixed with a healthy dose of tequila. HOWEVER, the strangest thing was when we ordered the margaritas. I am in my mid-50s and look every year of it. The waitress asked to see both our IDs, so I grinned and opened my wallet, expecting a cursory glance at my driver's license. But..NO! She looked carefully at the license for about 10 seconds, then began to grab at my wallet, saying "Mind if I take it out?" She had trouble getting it out, but just as I offered to help she finally was successful in removing it from the wallet. Holding the license close to her face, she spent a great deal of time alternating between looking at the picture and glaring at me. THEN she flipped the license over - you know, the organ donor side - and spent a good ten seconds studying that for no apparent reason. It was then abruptly handed back to me with a grunted "OK." My wife's license was subjected to the same lengthy inspection. I have no issue being "carded" to fulfill some restaurant policy or state law, but it's pretty dang obvious that I'm over 21, and it was embarrassing and uncomfortable to have my license subjected to a lengthy level of scrutiny that exceeds what occurs when I fly commercially! I felt like a terrorist suspect - and all because I ordered MARGARITAS? Sheesh! read more

I've been excited for Los Compadres to open. The decor is great, better than most Mexican restaurants in the area. The house salsa is good and the chips are thin and crisp. I think their other salsas are a bit better, their tomatillo is great and their chipotle is very good also. Neither of them are hot for hot's sake, they have very good flavor and just the right amount of heat. The Chile Relleno is made correctly with the egg batter on the outside, but they have chosen to go with the "Queso" filling instead of real cheese, so they lose a couple of points there. The rice and beans are good, but the beans could use a bit more flavor in them, don't be afraid to add the bacon fat boys! The soft tacos are very good, but you have to ask for corn tortillas or they will give you flour. I've had the carnitas, pollo and carne asada, all three were delicious. I've yet to try the enchiladas. I haven't found a mexican restaurant in this part of the country that can make them correctly, but I'll give one a shot next time. Overall, I prefer this to all of the mexican restaurants I've tried in the Nashville area including Cinco De Mayo, El Ok Corral, El Comal, Las Americas, & La Hacienda. Word to the wise, stay away from Hacienda Del Sol in the Providence mall area next to Publix, it is hands down the worst excuse for Mexican food I've ever had to endure. read more

Worst service we've received in TN! My husband goes to the one in Lebanon all the time so he likes the restaurant so we decided to go there tonight for dinner and opted to sit on the patio. The host that sat us down promptly brought us our drinks and then we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order. There were two waitresses that simply ignored us and never paused long enough for us to get their attention. We finally had to go inside and ask for help. The host came to take our order and claimed one of the waitress was notified to help us but nothing like that happened. They continued to ignore us and so my husband went inside to complain and ask for the manager. The same "host" said he was the manager and would take care of us. By taking care of us he simply came out and threw the bill on our table and walked away. One of the waitresses came out and said we weren't assigned to her so that's why she didn't acknowledge us. No one cared about our poor service, NO ACCOUNTABILITY and the "manager" said he didn't have a number for his owner and refused to give us information. He had the nerve to tell us to go to the Lebanon location and look for the owner. Sorry service, mediocre food = never again!! Go to a real Mexican restaurant in Cali! read more

Came here after a very long drive with six other friends. It was around six on a Thursday and was not very busy. We waited for about 5 minutes to be seated even though a majority of the tables were unoccupied and almost opted to walk next door. Our server was good, very talkative and cleared our plates as we finished. Allowing us to sit and talk for a while before heading out for an even longer drive. The food was good everyone cleared a majority of their plates, besides the chicken having some very stiff and hard to chew places. I can honestly say I have eaten my last meal at Los Compadres in Mt. Juliet!!! It's very frustrating because I've been eating Los Compadres since I lived in Lebanon! Our waiter spent more time watching the soccer game on the bar television than he did waiting on my wife and I, and it's even worse because the restaurant was EMPTY! We spent at least 15 minutes staring at him staring at the TV. I spoke to the manager, who happened to be the bartender, and his only response was, "Who was the waiter?" REALLY?!?!?!?! Yesterday was my second time coming to the restaurant. My first time going was great, the service was good, food was good, drinks were good. I just had to come back. When we first got there it was a ten minute wait and from there it went down hill. Once we got seated a fight broke out in the kitchen between to waiters. They tried to close the kitchen doors but we had already seen all the action. After that we ordered drinks. It took a long time to come out we just blamed it on the business of the restaurant. Once our drinks arrived a member of our party had a dirty wine glass with lipstick marks. We tried to find our waiter to fix this, he was no where to be found. So the member of our party went to the bar to fix it. Next, we wanted to order waters but still no waiter to be found. Once are food arrived we all felt like we were being punked due to the fight, bad glass, and no service. I began to eat my food and something just didn't taste right so I sent it back for an exchange. Everyone in my party agreed the food was not as good as the first time. About 5 minutes into our meal another member of our party fount a long piece of hair in the food. It took a while to completely pull it out of the food, due to how long it was. At this point we were all done, fed up with the service, the food was nasty, and just ready to leave. About 4 hours later the worse began. I began to get real sick and that food I thought didn't taste right, well I was right I ended up with food posion. I will never be back. read more
