My partner and I came here for a date night on a Wednesday and it was packed! And for good reason. I highly recommend making a reservation, even if it's just a party of two. The ambiance and decor were so sexy and colorful and transported us to an upscale restaurant in Oaxaca. We had the hibiscus refresher, the Vida Eterna, and the Casi Cielo, which were all delicious and unique. For appetizers we got the tuna tostadas and the empanadas. The ingredients of the tostadas tasted so fresh! I'm not huge on empanadas in general but the beef in these was cooked nice and tender. Maybe could have used more sauce on the side though. The entrees were the lobster/watermelon salad and the Tetela con puerco en mole. The salad was refreshing but maybe could have used a little more citrusy flavor in the dressing, but I get that they didn't want to overpower the watermelon taste. The tetela though, I would have ordered three times over. It was 5/5. For desert we got the tres leches and I got a Mexican hot chocolate. If you like the tres leches moist but not drenched in the milk, then you will love this as we did. It had a passionfruit cream over it, which added a tart twist! Will definitely be back. read more

The ambiance in this restaurant is so uniquely curated that it feels like you're not in Atlanta! My boyfriend and I sat in cave-like booth that was super intimate and perfect for date night. Our waitress was wonderful and made our first time visit so memorable. They offer a huge selection of tequilas and she recommended one that was probably some of the best tequila I've ever tasted. We weren't super hungry since we left from another event so we shared the queso fundido dip, corn ribs, and the quesadillas. The food was decent enough but I wish we would have tried more Oaxacan dishes which is their main specialty. To finish off the night, they brought us these postcards that we could write and send to friends/family and they would mail them out for us. Heads up, the main dining area for this restaurant is up stairs. If you are unable to climb stairs, you will need to be seated in the lower level. We arrived on time for our 7:30 reservation. One of our guests is in a wheelchair. We were told that we'd have to wait for a table on the lower level. It took 30 minutes to be seated. The manager Eric did bring over some sparkling wine and allowed us to sit at a lounge table during the wait. When we were seated, the table was very unique and in a cave-like space. The server did a great job, but she was not knowledgeable about liquor or bar service in general. The menu was adequate offering a few classic Oaxacan staple items (enchiladas, tacos etc.) with a couple of vegetarian and/or vegan options. The food and drinks were pretty good, but not spectacular. The wine selection was rather limited, but there were drinkable options. About half way through the meal Carlos (another manager) came to check on the table. He reminded us how lucky we were "to get into a cave table, that the reservations for those table are often 3-4 weeks." This is when we reminded him that we made a reservation 3-4 weeks ago for which we were made to wait 30 minutes upon arrival because we could not sit upstairs. We did not have a preference for sitting in any location, we were forced to sit in the lower level because the space does not accommodate those with disabilities. Carlos also let know that he comped our appetizers when he delivered the check, which Eric previously told us. I didn't expect it to be as tiny as it it inside the "waiting" area, there's no seats or anything which i get but was a bit awkward just standing in the way. I have to say, I was unfortunately a little disappointed with Cuevacia. After trying to get 2 bar spots every Friday for MONTHS (I wish this was an exaggeration), we finally got a spot last Friday. First off, the building itself is beautiful. The outside is so cool and the inside is equally gorgeous. Second, the staff and mixologists are absolutely wonderful and so friendly. It's hard to find a bar with good sherry, and the manager helped us find a bottle to try. They also brought out a little amuse bouche of queso, seed bars, and elote. Such a cute idea! The drinks were phenomenal, we tried the Esperanza and the Vida Eterna. No notes, they were delicious. I will definitely be returning for the cocktails. We weren't very hungry, so we only tried the Short Rib Empanadas. They were okay. I truly wish I had a better adjective. The amount of short rib was so small, it was mostly corn shell. The sauce that comes at the bottom is delicious, but it doesn't make up for the lack of short rib. For $14 for 2 empanadas, they need to be exceptional. I had to dip my empanada in the leftover queso from the amuse bouche to make it taste better. I truly don't think I would order an entree from here. $20+ for 3 tacos is a little excessive. I was also checking out some of the entrees near us, and the enchiladas just looked so dry. My girlfriend and I met up for a much-needed girls' night, and the ambiance at Cuevacia is undeniably sexy, sophisticated, and perfect for catching up over cocktails. The only downside? The restaurant doesn't have its own restrooms, so guests have to leave the restaurant and use the Colony Square restrooms, which takes away a bit from the overall experience. For drinks, I ordered the Paraíso (Reposado Tequila, Blood Orange, Sugar Beets, Ginger, Tarragon, and Lime), which was refreshing and well-balanced. My friend had the Adoración (Uruapan Añejo Rum, Tamarind Cordial, Aguardiente, Coconut, and Pineapple), and she thoroughly enjoyed it. We started with the Elote Asado, featuring charred corn, lime, cotija, chile powder, and crema. It was flavorful and a great way to start the meal. We also shared the Short Rib Empanadas, filled with guajillo-braised beef short rib, Chihuahua cheese, chipotles, and mole verde. These were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the Tacos de Pescado with mahi mahi, fried in a light masa tempura batter and topped with poblano crema, grapefruit, cabbage slaw, and salsa verde. Served with rice and beans, this dish was a standout--fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the Pescado con Pistachios, which featured trout with an adobo rub and pistachio pepita crust. The fish itself was very good, but there were a lot of pistachios, which slightly overpowered the dish. For dessert, we shared two options. The Chocolate Tres Leches Cake was fantastic. Even as someone who isn't typically a tres leches fan, I found it rich, moist, and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the Churros de Lujo were disappointing. They didn't taste fresh and would have been much better served hot with a scoop of ice cream. The mango and dulce de leche sauces were presented as tiny dots on the plate--far too little to actually enjoy or taste. This is one dessert I would skip on a future visit. A new gem has entered the Atlanta scene! I got the pleasure of checking out Cuevacia this past weekend. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The restaurant is simply beautiful with the first floor having tables that look like small caves and the 2nd floor having seating that transports you to an hacienda balcony. The decor is authentically Mexican. To say this restaurant is gorgeous is an understatement. You start off being greeted by your server that presents you with a small tasting dish that the chef has curated for you to open up your palate. Not only that the servers are also bilingual, in case you want to practice your Spanish skills! The food focuses on the states of Central Mexico. This is not your typical Tex Mex food, it's authentic southern Mexican food. We ordered a plethora of dishes with the banana leaf tamales & quesadilla grande being our favorite. The plates are a masterpiece, imaginatively stimulating your eyes. Needless to say that flavors don't fall short. We were too full to order dessert but plan on coming back to explore the Mexican Hot Chocolate and churros. There is Valet Parking available or you can also self park. When a new restaurant of this caliber opens in Atlanta, the eternal buzz begins envelop both the physical establishment as well as all the social presence. Reservations are impossible to get, influencers are all there for a complimentary meal and it seems like a legendary concert came to town with the amount of excitement in the air. Cuevacia, is currently in this stage in early 2026 and a few months from now, the buzz will die down. The question then will remain: can Cuevacia deliver? That is to be determined, but we can certainly reflect on the initial impressions today. The Oaxacan kitchen is one of the most underrepresented in the US, despite being acclaimed as the top food destination in Mexico. Known for its famous mole as well as being the top mezcal producer in the country, it's a Mecca of traditional culture. Cuevacia delivers on mezcal, with an extremely substantive list and upmost quality selections. The service is great despite struggling within the influx of influencers at the time of the visit. The mole with slow roasted meats is a great combo as well. One more thing...the design. Cuevacia is unquestionably one of the most beautiful restaurants in Atlanta. The team did a truly remarkable job with the stone enclosed booths, creating an ambiance that genuinely transforms guests from a metropolis to a small Oaxacan village. An amazing addition to casual-fine Mexican in dt/midtown Atlanta. Highly anticipated when I saw the ad last year. Unfortunately it was super popular since its opening, so I only tried it twice; one dinner and one lunch. For food, I have tried the following: 1. Puerco de Res: braised pork shoulder with sweet-savory mole (Apricot-Guajillo), served with grilled plantains,roasted onions and tortillas.The pork was fork-tender, the fresh tortillas were delicious. However, the dish almost only had sweetness. It would be better if there could be a spcity/savory/sour twist, such as some grilled nopales, hot peppers, or pickled veggie. 2. Tetela con Puerco en Mole: a ~4inch lengh triangular masa tortilla stuffed with corns, black beans, msuhrooms, cheese, placed atop Coloradito Mole and pulled pork, and topped with more cheese. The mole was refreshing and slightly sour. The ingredients in the masa tortilla paired well with each other. However, I did not find poblano peppers as listed on the menu. 3. Arroz verde: "green" Mexican rice. Cooked with herbs. Compared to El Valle's version, this one is drier. I think this one is better. 4. Verdura Asada: a small portion of charred seasonal vegetables. I got roasted squah, pumpkins and mushrooms. Great as a side. 5. Complimentary platter: Only served at dinner. There were Oaxaca cheese with salsa matcha, elote, roasted pepitas, tortilla chips. A combination of savory and sweet stuff. Good as app. 6. Birria de Chivo: braised beef and goat tacos. My friend had this as entree and she liked it. The consomme for dipping was rich and not spicy. However, the first time she got this dish, there was hair in the taco... For service, the staff were customer-oriented and have a good knowledge about the dishes. When my friend noticed the hair in her taco, our server responded quickly, then the kitchen staff, the manager all apologized for the mistake, and I heard them discussing possible ways to avoid this. They also took off EVRYTHING from our bill (though this made me a bit uncomfortable because they didn't do anything wrong with my dish) I will try more dishes and update my review. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our waitress was really good and attentive until she got more tables and became less attentive. The restaurant is really nice on the inside! We received complimentary appetizers which were good. We both ordered non alcoholic margaritas which were really good as well! We ordered corn as an appetizers and it was really good. I had a dinner date with my wife recently at Cuevacia and it was a very enjoyable evening. The extensive build-out of the space has erased any vestiges of the sushi place that preceded it and imbued an extremely cool Oaxacan vibe...it's hard to believe this place is in Colony Square! The downstairs tables are like mini grottos (very moody) and the upstairs has great views of both the bar below and the street level (more lively). Since it was our first time we received a small complimentary appetizer sampler that was really nice; the very fresh tortilla chips were great. To drink I ordered an Adoración cocktail and it was very nice; for dinner I opted for the Tamal Oaxaqueño which was good if not overly flavorful. Service was excellent from checking in with the hostess to our attentive waitress and finally the manager stopping by to ensure we were satisfied. Cuevacia looks to be a unique addition to Midtown's food scene so I look forward to returning to further explore the menu. read more

The round-cave seating is very intimate and private. They even have nice outdoor seating which we moved to later for cocktails. The service was beyond excellent! I think we had at least two or three different managers or people come by and ask if everything was going OK. The drinks are strong, so beware (good thing). I will say the passionfruit margarita tasted more sour than sweet, which I told them about, and they took off the check, even though I wasn't expecting that, since I had already drunk most of it. This brand new restaurant had amazing service and the coolest vibe in the city. They have turned around this previously used space into a completely unrecognizable stone cave that may be my new favorite restaurant ambiance in the city. It is a small space but they have used it so effectively and designed it incredibly. The staff was so attentive with the managers even coming over and interacting with us several times. The food also met expectations with the flavor. They give you a free appetizer set when you sit down which was a fun introduction into their Oaxaca flavors. Every cocktail and dish we ordered was excellent. The octopus was so tender and great spice level. Our personal favorite dish of the evening was the chicken mole. The maduros and mole sauce were excellent. I love their collection of tequila and mezcal as well. They were willing to play around with their collection as well. They made my fiancé an off menu mezcal manhattan which he loved. This was a much needed addition to cooling square where I think a lot of the restaurant food does not match their vibes. The Guacamole con Totopos lacked flavor, the Aguachile de Camarón tasted more like a shrimp cocktail with a watery lime sauce, and the Pescado con Pistachios was downright awful--the fish was completely overpowered by burnt pistachios. The Arrachera Norteña flank steak was disappointingly dry and lacked the tenderness you'd expect. On the positive side, the atmosphere deserves an A++--beautiful ambiance and a great vibe. Unfortunately, the $24 parking fee earns an F- all by itself. I was very disappointed with my recent experience at Cuevacia. I had been genuinely excited to try it and chose to visit on Sunday evening to celebrate my friend's birthday. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet our expectations. To begin with the positives, our server, Jackie, was exceptionally kind and attentive. The drinks were excellent, and we both thoroughly enjoyed them. My friend also ordered the queso fundido with homemade chips, which was very good. However, the remainder of our visit was quite disappointing. My friend ordered the Chicken Tinga tacos, and I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla. Shortly after, the manager, German, informed us that the quesadilla was unavailable because the kitchen had discarded the necessary ingredients. I then requested a side of beans, queso mole, and chips instead. When our server returned, she brought two orders of Chicken Tinga tacos and explained that the manager had entered that order for me. This was not what I had requested, but I decided to try it regardless. Unfortunately, the chicken was mushy and slimy in texture. Both my friend and I found it unappetizing and sent the dish back. After that, my friend decided she did not want to order anything further, as she was put off by the experience. I again asked for my original alternative of beans, queso mole, and chips. Our server returned and informed us that the kitchen had discarded the remaining ingredients and there was nothing else available to prepare for us. As a result, I left the restaurant without having eaten. What was most concerning was the lack of managerial follow-up. The manager entered an order I did not request, did not return to address the situation, and did not offer any accommodation or adjustment to the bill. The only time I saw him afterward was when we were leaving, and he was seated at the bar reviewing receipts. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or attempt to remedy the situation. I share this feedback because I believe in giving businesses the opportunity to improve. I was particularly surprised, as I understand this restaurant is owned by the same group behind Saint and Council, where I have consistently experienced excellent food and customer service. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve the overall guest experience. read more

The food leans Oaxacan and upscale - rich, slow-cooked flavors, simple but thoughtful plating, and dishes that actually feel traditional instead of overdone or trendy. Cocktails were a highlight. Very mezcal-forward, well balanced, and not overly sweet. You can tell real care went into the drink menu. The space is beautiful - stone, arches, great mood lighting. Feels great for a date night or a quieter dinner where you actually want to talk. Service was attentive and very knowledgeable. Great ambiance management seems solid. Food was good. Unfortunately our server was over whelmed.

Hmmm, Well do i start.... First off, beautiful place, nice scenery for taking pictures only. Im all about supporting new ventures and new places, but........... this 1 needs work. For one i didnt feel welcomed by the unpleasant hostess, management wasnt any better. The food was dissapointing and the service trumped the mediocre food. From the food, to the service, all was just....mediocre. Such a cute place but the experience was more of a tex mex or hole in the wall experience. This was very low class and unworthy experience for me. The female and male managers employed, were some of the most incompetent ,and unprofressional ive seen. Better luck with perhaps newer, more refined establishments. P.s. i feel the black patrons were treated horribly!!! I wont recommend. read more

Food is mediocre. Ambiance is really the best thing about the restaurant. My cocktail was way too citrusy. Server was attentive but throughout the dinner we felt as if we were being rushed by him, asking if we were done with our cocktails when they were have full or half eaten appetizers. The wine selection is decent. The first appetizer that was brought out was wrong, my friend who doesn't eat pork asked for it on the side and it came in it so we had to send it back and get another which was an easy fix. Food was terrible. We ordered several different plates and the only thing edible was the rice. Service was good. Atmosphere was special. Unless they fix the food quality, it may not be around for a while. The Health food rating was 82, which is not acceptable. read more
