Small mom and pop shop that served solid food with excellent service. Menu is basic. Nothing fancy, just good ol breakfast faire. I got the country fried steak and eggs, and my hubby got the pork chop and eggs. My country fried steak was perfect. Not too much breading, tender steak, delicious gravy. It was served with tons of potatoes, 2 eggs, and toast. It was a huge breakfast. My hubby's pork chop was perfectly cooked, not dry at all. It was a bit lacking in flavor, but otherwise a decent chop. It was also served with the usual. Food was a solid 3 stars. Our server pretty much worked the whole joint. It wasn't very busy, so I guess it wasn't a huge task, but he was extremely efficient and just the right amount of friendly. Service: +1 star. Yes, it's cash only. I see that with a lot of mom and pop shops. It's a bit hard to believe with all the technology around, but I guess they need to keep every bit of their revenue. Since most of the customers are regulars, I assume they don't have to worry about catering to new folks, but it might attract a few more patrons. read more

I want to first say that I've been a loyal Cully's customer for many years so this poor- mid review is very unfortunate. Pre-Covid the place was a steal. Great food, large portions and low prices. I understand how it might be necessary to raise prices to offset costs but when you raise prices and reduce portions- it's a double whammy. Now, I acknowledge that sometimes the service can be a bit slow but our last two visits it was evident that the staff was more concerned with chit chatting, looking at videos on their phones or being non- present to either take our orders or once we were done- bring the bill. They must also have a new cook who doesn't understand what eggs over medium mean. Both visits my wife and I's eggs came back fried. This wouldn't be a problem if the servers came by to check on you- which they don't. They did offer to replace my fried eggs with what I had ordered (medium) but what was the point since the rest of my meal had already been eaten ( remember those smaller portions) I remember the kids Micky Mouse pancake being so large there was no way my daughter would come close to finishing- so I would. It's now 3 mini pancakes formed to make the mouse head. I laughed when it came out because it looked so little sitting dab in the middle of the plate. Higher prices- smaller portions- terrible service. I guess all good things must come to an end. read more

This place is hidden in the big plaza with the O'Reillys and Bellus Academy. I say hidden because there are a bunch of tall trees which do a pretty good job of obscuring the view of Cully's from the street. It's a very mom and pop place that feels like you're in someone's kitchen. They serve typical American style breakfast and lunch fare. I ordered the meatloaf entree. It came with a salad which was gigantic. I think you get the better half of a head of iceberg lettuce. However, it does come covered with raw brown onions so ask them to leave it out if it's not your thing. The meatloaf itself was good and I didn't find it too dry like some other meatloafs I've encountered. read more

Old school dinner with huge portions and friendly downhome service. Will find lots of (older) regulars in here during breakfast hours. Chicken fried steak is decent with a generous portion of gravy, hash browns have a nice crisp layer on top. This place is cute and quaint, exactly how you'd imagine a local restaurant in Poway--very country. The service was warm and friendly and the food came in hefty portions. We love this place and its dog friendly. I wanted eggs Benedict as good as my own or my dads but why the hell should I cook on Mother's Day? We got right in after skipping church. I got my eggs Benedict first and my fiancé waited a bit to get his farmer omelette. We were a little annoyed that I was half way through my meal but when it came it was huge and really good with plenty of hash browns to share because we normally share meals. The owner is super cool and loves dogs, next time trixie is welcomed. It's super outdated but these places are the best kept secrets. This was our 2nd time at Cully's and we truly enjoyed our breakfast! I ordered the combo omelette which was delicious. My wife got the pancakes which were huge and very good! We love their coffee and our server as nice to us with the refills! I am taking off a single star for cleanliness and the interior that is now old. My chair was sticky and so was our table. Classic breakfast menu. Tasty sausage, fluffy pancakes, eggs over easy cooked perfectly. I ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. Very good, although the gravy was a bit under seasoned, which is ok because I was able to season them to taste. I would prefer under salted than over salted. Great friendly place! This place is a regular joint for me and my family. However, I can only truly recommend one thing. One thing so damn amazing that it should be the one thing everyone deserves to try: CORN BEEF HASH & EGGS Holy muther, this was amazing. Paired up with two over easy eggs and hasbrowns, this meal was simply the most delicious corn-beef you will ever try. Salty, soft, buttery, and savory, it makes you wish you had it everyday. Oh, and everything you get is classic dive diner fare, nothing fancy or new here. Its cash only, dont hold it against them. Just good ole Americana breakfast. Not many places will cater to their customers - Cully's is that place. Substitutions are not a problem - just ask. Want those fries extra crispy, or hashed browns "golden to perfection"? Ask - they never turn you down. I miss Cully's most about no longer living in Poway, I was a Saturday and Sunday regular for many years - no I go when I want a treat and it's worth the drive from Temecula! Went in today, with coworkers. I had the Steak & eggs, friend had the Ham & Cheese Omelet and the other friend had the Chicken Fried steak. I enjoyed the steak and eggs, I asked for Over Medium eggs and they got it right! The steak was medium though I asked for Medium rare but still tasty! Ham & Cheese Omelet was typical fare, my coworker said he'd try something different on the menu, as that was tough to judge being typical. Chicken Fried steak got good reviews, I read other reviews saying the sauce was plain, which they must have changed because they have bits of ham in the sauce now, instead of typical sausage. We'll all come back and try their other items. Previously I tried their kielbasa and really liked it! Great value for the money and very close to our work! read more

I'm a breakfast man 1st and foremost and often judge a place by the morning menu. First the good : warmly greeted into a neat and clean establishment. Super friendly staff and great table service. Just like the old days.Now the great: a breakfast to drive miles for. Best Spanish omelette ever. Sauce that's just fantastic. Breakfast potatoes fresh and full of onions and bell peppers . And I mean fresh. Not the return of last nights baked potatoes. Great salsa and classic buttered toast. A plateful. Big light buttermilk pancakes and tasty bacon. They keep your coffee cup filled. We discovered this place a few months ago by mapping some breakfast places near us, even though we live right by an IHOP. However, my husband didn't have a very good meal there the last time we had went. I love the tables. It's like sitting down at your grandma's table. And the staff is very friendly. We've gone a handful of times since we discovered it. The pancakes are nearly the size of the plate. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy is good if you don't like it super peppery. And if you do, add pepper to it. The biscuits are super fluffy, the sausage links are amazing. All in all, every experience I've had going there has been great. Cully's is almost your quintessential Americana diner. Except they only do breakfast and lunch. If you want dinner, go somewhere else. It's a hole in the wall of a strip mall kind of place. The walls are plastered with paintings of birds and other country scenes. The dining area is small with a lot of tables packed together. it's a place of regulars and blue hairs. a place where they'll end up knowing your name and your usual order. As far as I can tell the place is family owned and operated with a little outside help. The foods good. It's diner food good. Breakfast is really the high point here in my opinion. They offer the full range. I'm partial to their short stack pancakes with egg and sausage. Never hurts to add hash browns or O'Briens potatoes on the side. Their omelets are well made, as are their eggs benadict. Large portions too. I usually end up taking leftovers home. For lunch, the make a solid burger. Their sandwiches aren't half bad either. They also offer the old diner staples of meatloaf and chicken. A little something for everyone. It's a little out of the way in poway, but parking is easy to get and free. And if you go in during peak hours you might wait outside a bit for a free table. and them you'll probably be eating elbow to elbow with the others. But it doesn't bother me Good food for good prices, I've been a few times and I'll be back a few more before all is said and done. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but we didn't have the best experience. Fortunately, we got seated fairly quickly on a busy Sunday morning. Our server acknowledged us within a timely manner initially, but we hardly saw her the rest of the time. We watched her try to deliver our food to the wrong table. They turned it down and said that's not what they ordered. So she brought it to our table and the order was all messed up. Maybe it wasn't our order either, now that I think about it. Asked for bacon, sausage, and cheese omelet. Only got bacon and cheese, wrong potato order was on both mine and husband's plate (they have 3 different options), his eggs weren't cooked as he ordered. Everything was cold! I never saw our server to ask for it to be warmed. She also forgot to bring out one of our toast orders. If the order was correct and food was hot, I'm sure it would have been delicious. I hardly ate because my omelet was so cold that the cheese firmed up. Lastly, the coffee is awful! Tasted like it had been brewed a day before and reheated. On our way out, we were rudely pushed out of the way by a man seating another family. We will never return. read more
