    Fish fry dinner
    Sam S.

I was extremely surprised by how good the food is here. We got the fish fry dinner. Really crispy flaky fish, with some decent crinkle cut fries/roll/coleslaw and tartar sauce. Really fast and friendly service. The dining area and restrooms were particularly cleanly as well.

I first discovered Culver's back in 2011 while visiting Madison, Wisconsin. A friend from Madison--someone I knew while working on the Green Line project in Boston--insisted I try it. After two visits, I never forgot the experience. When I saw that Culver's opened near UNC CHARLOTTE, I had to check it out. This Charlotte location brings the charm of Wisconsin straight into the University City area. It combines sweet Southern hospitality with the brand's signature Midwestern comfort food, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in. I ordered the Double Bacon Deluxe ButterBurger with Wisconsin Cheese Curds--yum, yum, yum. The burger was perfectly seared, the bacon crisp, and the cheese curds as addictive as I remembered. I rarely drink soda, but their house-made Culver's Root Beer is impossible to pass up. The restaurant itself sits just off Interstate 85 and is impressively designed. Spacious, open, spotless, and relaxed, it resembles the Madison locations I visited years ago. It feels familiar in all the best ways while still fitting perfectly into the Charlotte dining scene. Culver's was founded in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin, and has grown into one of the country's most beloved regional fast-casual chains. They are best known for their ButterBurgers, fresh frozen custard, and signature Wisconsin Cheese Curds. The chain emphasizes hospitality, cleanliness, and food made to order--values that are clearly reflected in the Charlotte location. Culver's now operates more than 900 restaurants across the United States, with a growing presence throughout the Southeast, including North Carolina. PLEASE COME TO THE NC TRIANGLE. If you're craving hearty Midwestern comfort food with excellent service, Culver's near UNC Charlotte is absolutely worth the stop.

Looking for a quick bite to eat after arriving late in Charlotte and found this nice fast food joint with a line of cars in the drive thru. Offering a variety of typical fast food fare with advertised farm to table Ingredients. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Lovely dining area good for families with kids and bigger groups. Butter burger and fries were tasty - chicken fingers were okay. Service was great - friendly and helpful!

Great service each time in the drive through. Counter pickup see ice is inconsistent at best while management, I'll presume in the Back polos, leave much to be desired. Specifically lady with the strawberry blondish pony just hanging and swanging around the food but open top drinks made my heart skip a beat. Like, she doesn't even think of it. Anywhoo, they do a horrible job promoting their local specials BECAUSE for BOGO ice coolers.... I would have been here 5x a week. No shame

Was in the area and decide to stop in for lunch, I wanted some Swedish meatballs from ikea, but my son preferred culvers and since I have not had it in a while, I complied! The restaurant was clean, we decided to dine in. My son ordered the cheeseburger kids meal and added bacon to his burger the kids meal comes with fries and a drink, you also get a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream. I ordered a deluxe cheeseburger and subbed my fries for cheese curds. My son inhaled his food! When asked he said his food was good. Maybe my tastebuds are changing on me because I found the burger to be a bit on the salty side, the cheese curds were hard to enjoy because they to were salty. The hamburger patty didn't have the signature crispy edges that a good Culver burger is known for. Idk, fast food lately has been really letting me down. After we ate, we redeemed the coupon for the free scoop of ice cream, they are able to either get a scoop of the flavor of the day or a scoop of vanilla or chocolate custard. With that free scoop they can choose one topping. I got a turtle sundae and it was delightful!

After just moving out here and trying my first experience with the famous "butter burger" I am impressed. Upon entering the restaurant it was very spacious and clean. The staff were very welcoming and helpful in navigating the menu in search of the perfect burger. I found it in the limited time Colby Jack Pub Burger. This is a double beef butter burger with Wisconsin colby jack cheese, crispy onions, A.1. pepper mayo sauce on an everything bun. The combo comes with a drink and a side. I naturally chose the cheese curds being a Wisconsin based company. The meal was amazing and probably the best fast food burger I've ever had. I was left wanting a shake, but had no room left after the double cheeseburger so sadly that experience will have to wait for another trip. I have not one bad thing to say of this place as it was truly amazing and am very much looking forward to my next visit.

    Cod dinner

I love Culver's. Great burgers, good cod and the best custard. I walked in this one and the cashier looked like a robot. She had a hand on both sides of the register abs stared straight ahead, didn't say a word or acknowledge me. The lady at the other register finished that order and asked me to come over to her. She was very nice, took my order and took me through the process to get my custard later although I already knew. The drink station was in need of cleaning and restocking. All the tables were dirty, not super bad but someone had clearly eaten there since they had been cleaned. I think this was a management issue as there were a lot of staff at the tables outside on break. Everyone needs a break but maybe stagger them so the job gets done too. Culver's usually does a really good job with the cod and I get it regularly. At this location the breading was not crispy and there was lots of grease on the plate pooled up. The best part was the second lady at the counter. When I went back to get the custard sundae she didn't ended look at my ticket, she remembered what I ordered and brought it out right away. She is probably the only reason I've did not give them a 1 start. They really missed the mark .

I love a fried fish sandwich so I was excited to try the fried cod sandwich at Culver's. Their butter burgers are amazing so I had high expectations for the fish sandwich! The sandwich looked great but didn't have much flavor. Some salt and more tartar sauce would have made it better. I will stick to getting burgers in the future.

I've come here a few times since it's not too far from work. Always cooked to order and delicious. However this visit was still delish but it seemed like the burger was much thinner than other times. The meat to veggies ratio was definitely off for me. But overall, still good and I love getting the cheese sauce to dip my fries in. It's a must for me.

This was the best dinning experience I have ever had. Right after ordering, my food was hand delivered to me before I could even sit down. The food was amazing too.

Checking in at Culver's for some of those amazing cheese curds and I stumbled upon this shake (oh so good)!

Optimist Hall itself is a very food-centric, upscale food hall with a ton of vendors, so the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Seating can be a little challenging during peak dinner hours since so many people are grabbing food from different spots, but when the weather is nice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Harriet's keeps their burger formula refreshingly simple. It's a classic smash burger done right--made to order with a straightforward menu that doesn't overcomplicate things. There's usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the burgers come out hot and fresh. One of the best parts of eating here is the flexibility of the food hall experience. While you're waiting, you can grab a craft beer, a glass of wine, or even browse for dessert from one of the other vendors. Insider tip: Come with a group if you can. It's a great place to share fries and let everyone explore different vendors around the hall. Parking is fairly easy with the nearby garage, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall, Harriet's is a fun, delicious stop for a smash burger, especially if you're already enjoying the energy of Optimist Hall.

I live super close to Optimist Hall, so it's been on my radar for a while. This particular night I wasn't feeling great, so I DoorDashed instead of dining in. I ordered the Royale with crispy fries and let me just say... I get it. The burger was genuinely impressive. The quality of the beef stood out immediately. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The meat to bun ratio was spot on, which is crucial. Nothing worse than a bread heavy burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, the build was balanced, and even after delivery, everything held up beautifully. So far I've tried two burger spots in Charlotte, and this one takes the top spot. I'm not ready to declare it the best in the entire city just yet because my burger tour is ongoing, but right now it's leading the race. I'll definitely be going to Optimist Hall soon to try it fresh off the grill and experience the service and atmosphere firsthand. Expect an update. But based on this first round alone, Harriet's is absolutely worth the order. Burger lovers, this one deserves a try.

As a West Coast transplant now living in Charlotte, I have very specific standards when it comes to…read moreburgers. For me, the gold standard isn't fancy -- it's balance. Think that perfect meat-cheese-bread ratio you get at an In-N-Out: not too big, not too messy, not dripping everywhere, but still juicy and satisfying. A burger you can actually pick up and enjoy without resorting to a knife and fork like George Costanza. That's why I appreciate Ace No. 3. Their menu is refreshingly simple -- burgers, fries, shakes -- and that simplicity tells me they know exactly what they do well. Everything is made to order, and the consistency shows. The Ace burger is my go-to, and it delivers every time. The shoestring fries are excellent, and the sweet potato tots are another favorite. I've also treated myself to a milkshake here and there, and they're worth it. Fun bonus: they offer "boozy shakes" for adults, which adds a playful twist -- just note they have to be enjoyed on site. They also keep a short, rotating list of beers, which I appreciate. It's curated, not overwhelming. One thing I noticed recently -- and as a fellow marketer, I have to applaud this -- is their milkshake happy hour from 2-4 PM. That's a smart strategy to drive traffic during slower hours between lunch and dinner. Simple, effective, and well executed. A few practical notes: Parking can be a little tight because the lot behind the restaurant is small, but if you go during off-peak hours or order ahead for pickup, it's manageable. The Belmont neighborhood location is easy to get in and out of, and while it's not a high-traffic pedestrian area, that can actually work in your favor. Bottom line: As someone who grew up with West Coast burger culture, this is the closest I've found in Charlotte to that classic, satisfying bite -- even if it costs a bit more than In-N-Out. The quality and execution make it worth it. Get out there, eat well, be curious -- and follow me as I continue eating my way through Charlotte.
