Jeni's continues to offer really fun flavors made well and even in non-dairy options (hooray for vegan flavors!) It's always a conundrum when there's more than 1 vegan-friendly flavor for me but they weren't busy so I got to try all of them. Sadly I was only able to narrow it down to two flavors - banana dream pudding (I'm usually not into banana but this is GOOD!) and peppermint patty. It was a weird combo but it worked! Great location in south end but definitely overrated/overpriced. Ice cream is ice cream though, so I could never be too harsh. They do have a great variety of flavors- I sampled the goat cheese raspberry and some other cheesecake. Goat cheese was bizarre but fun to try; I ended up getting a standard scoop of a salted caramel chocolate chunk or something along those lines. It was tasty but for $5+, I would appreciate more than a golf ball sized scoop. The line was well out the door; about 20mins to even get inside, but they work as quick as they can to keep it moving. After a great dinner at Hawker's, it was a no brainer to drop into Jeni's right across the courtyard. With big windows and a bright vintage style sign, it draws you in, and the smells hit you before you even open the door. They have a fairly big selection, and I landed on the Brown Butter Almond Brittle ice cream. They measure in half size scoops, so two scoops is what would be one scoop at many other ice cream shops. I got mine in a waffle bowl which they make in the shop. It had a great sweet flavor, though the bowl was a bit on the soggy side. This is a gentrifying area with a lot of kitschy stores, and a number of apartments being built. Parking can be a problem but the whole South End is really going to be something. They offer a score of flavors, many with wacky names. The ice cream was very good, but just didn't have that super premium mouth feel I look for. This time I grabbed two fruity flavors with a single scoop of the lemon bar and the lavender. I usually am a big chocolate gal but I wanted to venture out to try two new flavors. I was very happy with the lightness of the lavender and the crunch in the dairy free, lemon bar flavor. Overall, I love the outdoor seating and lively environment of this space. In Charlotte the only place I really knew and like is Dairy Queen however that location is located on one of the busiest roads, Wilkinson Blvd, and they have no guard rails or fence. Jeni's is located in South End and surrounding by other restaurants and shops. Lots of pedestrians so cars aren't flying through the streets. Jeni's also have picnic tables located on the opposite side farthest away from the street along with outside bar seating. They offer many unique flavors of ice cream but I do wish they offered the more generic flavors; like plain vanilla, strawberry, cookies and crème. On the flip side, they serve each order with a waffle wedge. The aroma from the waffle pan making the waffle cones, cups and wedges is most pleasant and it fills the entire plaza atmosphere. Always love stopping by the Jeni's for their special event flavors! Got to visit for Olivia Rodrigo and before the eclipse. Love the creativity with the flavors and the fun decor on those days. It's something cute to look forward to. There's always a long line outside the door especially during the weekend/evenings. This location is super busy, as it's centrally located in South End. The staff are usually able to accommodate the crowd. I will say the last time I was there the AC must have been out or one of the staff members seemed to be flustered with the crowd. Walked in when there was no line after 9 at night. Had our 4 month old puppy with us. She is also an ESA. The girl looked at us and said dogs are not allowed in the store. I said What an ESA? And she said again we don't allow dogs in the store! My husband just said whatever and took her out. I also left because I don't believe in giving my money to places that treat people and their pets poorly. I live in South End and have seen 100's of dogs in line with their owners to go into Jeni's. The Lynx light rail stops approximately 2 minutes (walking time) from the shop, so utilize this method of transportation as parking is not the best in this area.
