I felt extremely uncomfortable when I arrived today to pick up my online order. I had expressed that I was a few minutes early, and I was ok waiting. I had just been across the street and overshot how long it would take. I did find it incredibly rude that the cashier took their online order iPad, explained that since it was programmed for 7:30, it hadn't even been sent back to the kitchen yet. Again, I was totally ok with this and expressed it when I walked in. It was really condescending for him to literally show me the order instead of just taking 5 seconds to listen to me and be kind. I was showing my daughter Yelp pages and she was like, "But what about CULVER'S?!!" so, here we are. First off, my kids love this spot. We only go here a few times a year, and often for a school give-back night, but it's an enjoyable treat when we do. For fast food, they've sorta changed the game. I feel like the quality is 10x what a McDonald's might spit out these days, and the service is always, always, always friendly. The burgers are delicious, fries pretty good, and of course the frozen custard is always a winner. We always eat in when we go here, and it has those weird fast-food dine-in vibes that you'd expect, but it is what is it. Got a $15 Burge meal basket for lunch today. Outside of the price being weirdly high for a single meal. My Large soda not drinkable - it has zero carbonation. Beyond flat. Fries were soggy and not fully cooked. Overall very disappointed because Culver's usually does much better. $15 down the drain. read more

Culver's has been our go to burger place as of late! Their butterburgers are definitely reliable and can't forget about their cheese curds! They are well staffed, making their operation pretty efficient and they are always friendly! There's plenty of seating inside and their drive-thru and curbside pickup is also very efficient! I will say sometimes our to go order is slightly wrong, so just double check before driving off! But they are always willing to fix the mistake! read more

Far too pricey for a hamburger place (on my budget). The food was good. I don't know what happened to my earlier review of this State Line location, but after mentioning my thoughts on pricing to them, and writing a semi-critical Yelp! review about it, the response was: they raised prices--to ensure I'd not return? I haven't returned. I didn't find the ambiance pleasant here, either. I pass by this location fairly often, yet I have no plans to revisit here in the near future. Not every restaurant is for every diner. This pertains to chains just as it does for one-offs. K.C. has many good options for restaurant food. Value/$ is an essential key to retaining my patronage. I love Culver's food. I hate the ice cream. They serve it melting so bad that everytime I pull the lid off my Hot Fudge sundae, melted Ice cream spills all over my lap. A lot. Then it's a race to finish it before it melts and I never make it to the bottom before it's entirely melted. I will never buy ice cream from any Culver's again. The ice cream is not that good compared to Andy's ice cream. I spoke with two different managers about this and the say corporate controls this. That was years ago. I love Culver's burgers. Very thin patties, squished to the point of crispy on the edges is just exactly my cup of tea. I frequent these places for a low carb meal. Double cheese, pickles & onions, no bun. Makes my mouth water just thinking of it. Unfortunately, this location on State Line today didn't quite hit the mark. Quality food, good service and clean restaurant. All these things factor into what Culver's does. Ended up having lunch with my dad, and it had been a while since I've been in. A couple things I noticed, they were fully staffed, they were welcoming, they took my order quickly, they attended to our needs and even picked up our trays from the table. It was like living in the twilight zone where everything was perfect. If you go to any other fast food location, you're bound to run into somebody screwing up something. I have heard the manager speaking to several employees in Spanish this young man didn't have a clue what I asked for and his English was far from understandable. Culver's will always have a special place in my heart, because it's where my daughter first tried ice cream. Yes I know it's technically 'custard,' but nobody talks about their kid's first custard, so I'm calling it ice cream. I actually think their custard isn't anything special. It's good, but Freddy's & Sheridan's definitely have it beat. The best part of Culver's is the cheese curds. Definitely a death bed/death row food for me. Those curds, despite the weird name, are so freaking fantastic I can't even explain it in words. It's like on 'Friends' when Joey says 'fried stuff with cheese!' That's what the curds are, and why they're so good, and also why you should walk home afterwards. They're definitely not a health food. If curds aren't your thing (although I can't imagine that) you can get other side dishes too- from green beans, mashed potatoes, to fries, of course. Although their fries are mushy, crinkly, and flavorless. Their burgers are good, although the buns are always kind of dry. Except the special Pub burger that they have a few times a year. It's served on a different kind of bun, and it's a knockout of delicious flavors. The outdoor seating is nice on a warm day, the service is always really good and attentive, the place is bright & clean, although the room spray they use in the restroom could choke a giant. They have vanilla & chocolate custards daily, and can always make a great 'concrete' with your choice of ingredients. The salted caramel with cashews is delish, and the Heath bar one is crazy good. Of course I say that though, since I am fairly obsessed with Heath. They also offer a 'flavor of the day' custard, which they post on their sign outside, which can be very tempting/dangerous as you drive by. Their flavors of the day are all over the place- from candy to fruit to cheesecake to blends of all those. The fresh peach, offered in Summer, is a standout. They often have coupons in the Sunday paper, and you can sign up to get texts from them. They don't come too annoyingly frequently, and usually include a nice coupon too. I recommend either dining in the restaurant, or ordering inside and getting it to-go rather than using the drive-thru. The drive-thru needs work. My order has been wrong a few times, although they're always polite & quick to make it right, but it shouldn't even get to that point. Plus I think it's weird that they give you your custard first, then tell you to drive up and wait for the rest of your order to be delivered. Waiting in my car with melting custard that I'd rather have come out AFTER my meal seems backward and odd to me. read more

There's just something extra creamy about concretes! Today we shared a short vanilla with banana, brownie and almond mix ins ($5. Nuts were an up charge). Yes, totally worth it. We always go out to eat after church on Sundays and usually are accompanied by friends. We sometimes choose Culvers because the restaurant is clean and has ample space for customers. We also appreciate the greeters at the door, We have noticed that the menu is not friendly to read with understanding concerning the meal or food options in the restaurant. That is, we really have to search to discover the choices and especially the price we will end up paying for the meal. Even the meal receipt which should have prices clearly indicated on it, does not! We did ask a server if there was a printed menu which we could view, and he didn't know, but never came back with one, so we supposed that was not available. I'm a Culver's fan, but this location disappointed me. The service at the counter was somber, and not very friendly. My order was delivered to my table in about five minutes. The grilled chicken sandwich with crinkle cut fries tasted great. The chicken breast was premium white meat, and the fries were flavorful, and meaty, without being greasy, so I didn't feel as guilty. The dining area was clean, but the free Wi-Fi was down. The drive-thru was also moving slowly during my visit. Overall, just A-OK. read more

Maybe if I tried something other than a burger and fries I'd give this place a better rating but those items were just run of the mill. The best part of my meal was the chocolate milkshake and even that was something I could get most anyplace else. I did taste the cheese curds from a member of my group. I ate a few and didn't crave anymore but I must say they were unusual and much better than fries. The positives are the place was extremely clean and comfortable. Welcome to the worst Culver's in the Midwest. The State Line Culver's is an embarrassment to the chain's reputation, why they let these franchisees drag them down is a mystery. I've been to this location exactly three times and in each instance they got my order wrong, the last time was the most egregious. Since the first two times may have been to complicated for them I tried to simplify it...a double Butterburger, with cheddar cheese, bacon, tomato and ketchup mayonnaise. An order of fries no drink.....what I get is a double with who knows what kind of cheese. No bacon whatsoever, no ketchup or mayo. Having learned my lesson I checked the order before driving off, I had to drive back around and get in line again. I tried to be as polite as possible under the situation. I showed the gentleman at the window my receipt and told him it was wrong. I asked him to have them remake the whole order since I knew the fries were bound to be getting cold. They brought the supposedly remade order, I checked the burger, it now had two tiny strips of bacon and STILL no ketchup or mayo !! And the fries were obviously the same ones they gave me previously but missing about half of them. I'm a senior and decided it just wasn't worth the aggravation, so I took the meal home and warmed it in the microwave....and you probably know how that suck. The irony of all this is I did a negative survey on Culver's home page and someone supposedly Culver's QC person contacted me via email offering apologies and coupons. All talk.
