Welcome to the worst Culver's in the Midwest. The State Line Culver's is an embarrassment to the chain's reputation, why they let these franchisees drag them down is a mystery. I've been to this location exactly three times and in each instance they got my order wrong, the last time was the most egregious. Since the first two times may have been to complicated for them I tried to simplify it...a double Butterburger, with cheddar cheese, bacon, tomato and ketchup mayonnaise. An order of fries no drink.....what I get is a double with who knows what kind of cheese. No bacon whatsoever, no ketchup or mayo. Having learned my lesson I checked the order before driving off, I had to drive back around and get in line again. I tried to be as polite as possible under the situation. I showed the gentleman at the window my receipt and told him it was wrong. I asked him to have them remake the whole order since I knew the fries were bound to be getting cold. They brought the supposedly remade order, I checked the burger, it now had two tiny strips of bacon and STILL no ketchup or mayo !! And the fries were obviously the same ones they gave me previously but missing about half of them. I'm a senior and decided it just wasn't worth the aggravation, so I took the meal home and warmed it in the microwave....and you probably know how that suck. The irony of all this is I did a negative survey on Culver's home page and someone supposedly Culver's QC person contacted me via email offering apologies and coupons. All talk. I love Culver's! There are a TON of menu items and I always have a hard time picking which is GREAT because I know I can always try something else when I come back. This visit I am having the pot roast dinner which comes with two sides, mine being mashed potatoes and green beans, and a roll. It came out looking amazing. The service was very friendly and fast. This was my first visit to this location. It was a midday on Saturday. It was fairly busy but not overly noisy. I had a salad which was nice and made with spring mix. There were a few unsightly greens but I picked them out as spring mix does go bad quickly. The chicken was moist and tender. The blue cheese dressing was so so. My daughter had a butter burger which was very nice. The crinkle cut fries were fresh as well as the onion rings. They had double strawberry custard for the daily special. Better than in N' Out. Yea, I said it- come at me In N Out Bros. Culvers is the best fast food burger IMHO. This viewpoint has been upheld by numerous friends, blind taste tests, and a narrow 5-4 Supreme Court ruling (thanks Alito). They have way more variety of options than the usual fast food place (other than say Jack in the Box which has Tacos and Sushi which is terrifying). And they have custard which is delicious. AND cheese curds. I mean if this place sued Disney they could probably win the rights to be called the Magic Kingdom. Here are the things you need to know when eating at a Culvers -Cheese curds- these are little balls of fried cheese and pixie dust - you get them instead of fries (or in addition to fries if you are a baller) -Concrete Mixer- this is like a DQ blizzard only they give you a healthier dose of candy and the custard is very thick and creamy, not airy and weird like DQ soft serve now is (or always was?) -Burger- this is really where Culvers knocks competition out of the park- they have a ton of different burgers/sandwiches so you are given more choice than just 1 patty or 2. They usually always have a few specialty burgers that rotate in and out every few months along with like 8 burger options and a few melts In closing, if you find yourself driving by a Culver's you should probably stop because really you weren't going anywhere good anyway. read more

Hummmmmmmmmmmm.... okay... if you've just pictured anything like I have, you probably saw some greasy burgers, stale fries, dirty bathrooms, nasty soda machines, incompetent employees, and fake friendliness. Now... Throw that all away, because, Culver's is the COMPLETE oposite of what you just envisioned. Now, imagine this... Floors, walls, all surfaces so clean you could see your reflection. A more mature and friendly staff, with genuine smiles, and caring conversations. Excellent food quality and selections. Incredibly affordable, and bountiful servings. My first visit to Culver's, and my was I impressed! An older man came from behind the counter and actually delivered our food to us in the lobby. He made friendly conversation and joked about "who was boss" and "whether you've been naughty because santa won't come" He patted me on me arm, and smiled us out of the store. I wish Culver's existed in Boston, because I would frequent the place. Actually, I'd probably get fat... so we'll just be glad Culver's is a special treat when visiting the Midwest. read more

I decided to take a slight detour off the KC BBQ Quest and try something else. When I first drove into town yesterday I drove past this place and my interest was piqued. So I looked the place up on yelp and I knew I had to try it out. I second and third everything that has been said about this place, it is spotless, the people were friendly. The man at the counter came around the dining room asking if everything was okay and if we needed refills. When was the last time you saw that at a fast food joint? On to the food... butterburgers - sounds juicy, greasy, something I had a feeling I would like. I ordered the double butterburger with cheese basket. I loved it, it was juicy, it was greasy, and on top of everything it was pretty cheap. I also bought a pint of their frozen custard to go - turtle cheesecake (you can also order customized with assorted topping i.e. m&ms, oreo cookies, nuts etc). I am eating the custard as I type this. It is sweet but the saltiness of the pecan halves (yes I said halves not bits or crumbs) really compliments it's sweetness. I was going to spread this over a couple evenings but I don't think that is going to happen. read more

Culver's is the second best fast food I've ever had, the best that's available in KC. There's just something about that butterburger that makes me happy. What doesn't make me happy is the calories...and now they are printed on the menu so I know how bad I'm being. I'm sure that's good for the health conscious people out there, but let's be honest, those people aren't coming here. The staff are always friendly, the food is always good, the shakes are out of this world. My standard is the double butterburger-cheese, ketchup, and pickle and a small chocolate, banana, caramel shake (you should try it, but don't say I didn't warn you how good it is). My definite choice for best burger joint in KC. I may be biased because I grew up in Wisconsin and it was always a tradition for my dad and I to go out running errands or whatever together, then to Culver's for lunch. But the food is fantastic and the menu has a lot more than just burgers. Chicken, fish, delicious salads, along with homestyle-type meals as well. What Culver's is most famous for, at least in WI, is the custard and its up there with the best around. They don't have a huge selection of flavors (vanilla, chocolate and the flavor of the day) but its made fresh and that makes up for lack of selection. Try vanilla ice cream between two of their chocolate chip cookies - love it. The service is always good and friendly. The restaurants are always immaculate. My mom loves this place - so like a good wayward daughter I seem to like it a little less because of this. She loves anything from Wisconsin, she loves anywhere my grandparents love to eat, blah, blah, blah. I think that their custard is exceptional - possibly the best quality in the city, rivaling Sheridan's and Foo's - it has the texture of silk. I don't like plain vanilla ice cream, but the vanilla custard here has won me over on many occasions whether its topped with anything or left plain. And it's the only thing I really come to Culver's for. The butter burgers make me a little nauseous. I wish it didn't - I love a good burger, but the first and last time I had one the thing was a greasy mess! It should be renamed the 'sloppy and wet burger!' I feel bad about writing this because its a neighborhood favorite, my grandparents love it, my mom loves it, blah, blah, blah ... but at the end of the day if I tried to eat one of those things - I would gag. Crinkle cut fries are a type of fry I opt out on any time offered - they are the black sheep of the fry family and I don't crave them or enjoy them anymore than plain potato chips. In other words, their boring and with places like Winstead's, serving up thick cut, golden, crispy fries and good burgers alongside them on the Plaza, I would much rather go there at the end of the day. The only problem? Winstead's doesn't have Culver's custard and it never will. Culver's is the Rockhurst choice - they have an intimate bond, it's hard to explain, but Culver's hosts nearly every football game at Rockhurst, only a few blocks south. I can see why its a popular place, they offer lots of menu options and the most satisfying of American desserts - but dinner-wise, it doesn't hold a candle to Max's or Winstead's of Westport Flea Market, or hell, Wendy's for that matter! read more

I am certainly a fan of Culver's. Anyplace that makes a burger the old fashioned way like they do here, and toasts the buns, and puts mayo on there standard burger... well... they have my business. You may not like the fatty 70/30ish meat they use or the seared exterior of the meat, so don't eat a burger here if that is not your thing. Culver's is like Steak and Shake with more meat and better shakes. It's like Chick Fil A for service. So that is pretty darn good company for a franchise. If their custard was as good as Sheridan's or Maggie Moo's - no doubt it would have been 5 stars. But honestly, I think their custard just barely cuts the mustard... I had went to Culver's on 7953 state line kcmo and got a fresco garden chicken salad. I usually get a salad when I come here but I won't be coming back. I was almost done with my salad when I saw a maggot crawling on the piece of chicken... I spit everything out and ran it up to the counter. They didn't really seem to care, I only got my money back and that's it, I waited for someone to come talk to me, Neither the owner or manager came to talk to me about this. This was the first Culver's I ever patronized back in 2003. I became an addict of the Culver's Double Deluxe with everything on it, large fries and large Dr. Pepper or Sierra Mist...I don't do Pepsi. Always a delicious burger that isn't fake-tasting like Mickey D's or Burger King. Great fries. Good service. I haven't eaten here in a while & now remember why. I had the Swiss Melt single meal. Hardly any meat on it!! This sandwich was one of those thin smashed patty types. The onions needed cooking longer & it was dry. They need to develop a sauce for it. I love their crinkle cut fries! The best part of my visit was the staff. Garcia the cashier/manager did a great job answering my questions and the lady who brought out our food was very accommodating. Perhaps I'm missing something by not trying the custard (I can't do dairy). Why was this rated 4 or 5 stars? I had the butterburger (minus the butter and cheese) deluxe platter with fries, sweet tea, and diet mountain dew. I enjoyed the burger, but it was quite greasy skinny burgers. I could hear my arteries screaming bloody murder as I ate it. The fries were crinkle fries, but they were all crinkled :( I.E. dried out, burned, tasting like they had sat there for hours. The sweet tea was decent, but MCD's one tops it. What I liked: Everyone was super friendly and explained the menu quite well to me since I was a "virgin." They bring your food to your table. About a dozen fountain choices. Unlimited refills. Food came out rather quick and NO LINE. Decent price. What I didn't like: Burgers were not that high quality and were greasy. Fries looked amazing (reminded me of those yummy Oreida ones mom used to broil to a crisp). Unfortunately, they tasted and looked like they were crisped hours ago. I just couldn't eat more than a 1/3. This was only a mile from the AMC so we thought we'd give it a shot while waiting for the movie. We'll try somewhere else next time. read more

Went for a school fundraiser and they were staffed appropriately and orders were taken quickly and food was brought to the table quickly. My mother loves the cod sandwich and the fish looked light and crispy. I had the butter burger with cheddar cheese and it was delicious. To the owner of this particular store (Stateline Road). Have you ever considered studying why Chick-fil-A is such a successful National Chain? Culver's has good products (the fish is a bit too greasy, but nonetheless the menu is good). The only problem? The staff tends to not give two cents about pride in their work. The drive thru checkout is one of the most important opportunities for a good experience. I typically come thru your drive thru once a week for a meal. But I have been met more and more with increasing lack of care to service the customer. When a customer asks for vinegar and horse radish packets because they ordered TWO walleye dinner plates, please do not just give them one packet of each without asking "how many packets would you like?" And if the customer asks for more... do not reply with: "I will have to check in the back" as if waiting for the customer to say, "Oh then you don't need to check. I'll just settle for one packet." Advice: I would just go ahead and do it because you want the customer to have a good complete meal experience. Once is weird. Twice says something about the employee. A handful of times... that is a management problem. This is why I ask if Culvers owners learn from really successful chains like Chick-fil-a, where they have condiments packets at the ready. On 03/19/2022 at 8:30pm, I had such a bad "condiment" experience with the drive thru checkout that I asked to speak to a manager. Please check who was on the station for both the drive thru and the shift manager. Because although the manager told me "I'll speak to him," I got the feeling that the manager was not earnest enough to care. Again, this is for the owner of the 7953 State Line Road Culver's. I'm going to be as honest as possible. 1 star may seem harsh, but they've earned it . I used to work at this location, and I genuinely have nothing but bad things to say about it, and I'm not the kind of person to say that. first off, the owners pay the managers $9.00/hr, no exceptions. the crew members make minimum wage. My biggest complaint is that the restaurant is almost entirely Mexican immigrants, many of whom are illegal and do not speak english. The Mexican managers were nasty and rude to any American crew members. I complained to the owners about this, and they told me toughen up and quickly left the meeting. please do not support these people. read more

I devour their dbl or, sometimes, trpl butter burgers, w Swiss cheese, grilled onions, pickles & grilled shrooms. I use my own imported Moutarde de Meaux Pommery. Not trying to b a snob, but it is, certainly, one of the most divine of mustards (altho, as an ol geezer, I remember when it was sealed w a lg cork, waxed, & stamped; however, it still comes in a crock. get the largest one bcause, dear reader, u too will become an addict...but I digress). We have been going to Culver's for a long time. Mostly because my kids like the free ice cream they get with their meal. This last experience was horrible. We were there at 4:50, the place was not crowded (on a cold Monday night!) yet waited 20 minutes for our food. Both kids meals were stuffed in one bag, so I had to prove to the cashier with my receipt that I had indeed ordered two separate meals. I don't like that, especially from their own mistake on a very quiet night- he rang my order! Don't you remember?!?! Also, I ordered a regular mushroom Swiss burger and was given a double and noticed after that I was charged for a double. Grr. Had it been any good I might have been ok, but it was soooooo greasy that I put a pile of 8 napkins under the burger which were all soaked thru. Nasty! My bun was obviously a mush mess as well. Nothing particularly special or out of the usual, but its a chain diner/fast food joint, what are you expecting? It's certainly better than McDonalds or the like. Is it fine dining, no.
