Located just a bit east of the giant Voice of America radio antenna is Culver's. It's tucked back a bit from the road, so it's not really an "in your face" location. It was, however, enticing enough to get us to try it this past weekend. We went in, not really knowing what "custard" was and having a vague memory from childhood about what a "butter burger" was. Turns out it's a modern, clean and reasonably priced burger joint with soft-serve ice cream/custard treats. Husband had a butter burger, I had a grilled sourdough burger. We tried the tuna melt and chili fries too, and had some onion rings, all followed by two sundaes: Turtle and Bananas Foster. Good fast-ish fried foods and shakes. Kind of like a better steak and shake. Have been a few times. It's primarily staffed by teenagers so expect some service missteps along the way, but at least they try to be polite and helpful. Can't say the same of some of the rude customers. read more

Culver's is a nice place to grab some fast food. There are a good amount of choices (even though they market the butter burgers). If you are a cheese fan the cheese curds are a must order. Cold burgers, rock hard onion rings, and melted custard. I stopped eating here for these reasons. I just gave them a couple more chances and nothing has changed. I kept it simple and ordered one lg. onion ring and one scoop of vanilla custard, and twice I received onion rings that were rock hard and my scoop of custard was almost completely melted. When the girl handed it to me I regret not asking her for a straw so I could slurp my custard soup. They keep raising the prices and keep giving you bad service and worse food. What is the point of pulling forward to wait for your food when it isn't fresh and the custard is melted to the point you need to drink it instead of eating it? How does an employee even have the nerve to walk that out to a customer! More importantly, where's the manager? If the manager was doing her job maybe the food would be cooked right and you wouldn't need a straw for your "frozen" custard. I stopped ordering burgers because I got sick of pulling forward to wait for a cold burger. It obviously doesn't matter what you order because they expect you to pay for and be ok with being served undercooked/overcooked/melted food. Done for good this time. read more

For a fast-food burger, Culver's ButterBurger is darn good. I'd compare it to Steak & Shake's steak burger...only it's better. The "butter" part comes from the bun (I'm hoping) which is lightly toasted but soft and thick. The patty is smokey and tender, it falls apart a little while you're eating it. Diners can order their burgers exactly how they like them...I got mine with lettuce (chopped, love that texture), tomato (a good slice for fast food), and mustard. My bf ordered the double bacon variety and couldn't stop saying "this is soooo good." I ordered a "snack pack" for dinner and it was more than enough food, a single burger and a small fry with a small drink. For less than $3, it was a really good deal. My guy's massive beef construction cost $6.50 and was served with a huge side of onion rings and a large drink. Culver's has their own root beer, which I tried. It was quite a bit like A&W. The restaurant was PACKED when we walked in...it appeared that some little league and soccer games had just ended in a nearby park. We waited in line to order for twenty minutes behind kids and adolescents ordering the restaurant's homemade frozen custard creations. Every sundae we saw looked so good that we had to go back to the counter after finishing our dinner to try dessert. I got the turtle sundae with the flavor of the day-butter pecan. RICH. I have heard about this place for years and always wanted to go. Today was the big day, after all of the hype and waiting. And sad to say that all of the cliches of fantasizing about something are true.The experience was better in my head. I went through the drive thru and their menu is extensive and has a nice variety from fast food, to comfort food and all kinds of custards and shakes. I got the cheddar butter burger with cheese curds and a strawberry bananna concrete mixer. The mixer is "kinda like a blizzard" is how it was described to me only I thought that the taste was ok but it was too thin to be concrete. I did like the fact that the burger which was a double was homemade, but didnt really have a distinguishing taste or seasoning. The cheese curds I have to say were the best of the meal. Went here for the first time last night. Their service was comparable to chick-fil-a and the food was decent too for fast food. I got the buffalo chicken strips meal and the food was hot and my order was right. They even gave me dog treats for my dogs. read more

The food is awesome first of all. However, after 12 minutes waiting for your order, to have someone ask what you ordered is sad. Every other car ( five in all) received their orders while I was left waiting. Maybe an order for a family of four is too much for the crew to handle. I am a giant fan of Graters, but I then tried frozen custard and fell in love. This specific location is very courteous in the service they provide and are very quick. I love that when driving by I am enticed by a new flavor of the day each day...which sometimes draws me in. They have a large variety of food which makes it a popular stop after sports. read more

When I confronted the cashier and the manager about it, their reply was to start ringing me up for another burger, despite me having the receipt saying I'd already paid for it. I wish I could give them a 0, but sadly this fine app only allows me to give them a 1. I'm not sure why Dayna or the other managers at Culver's do not like me, and I was patient through every single encounter. For the past 6 months, I've been going to Culver's and got the same order every time; a double deluxe burger with NO TOMATO, and large fries. Many of these encounters have been with Dayna. She is always extremely passive aggressive and rude towards me, and the only reason I ever come back is because of the food. Going back to the food, remember how I said NO tomatoes? Yea she doesn't understand that. For the past 6 months that I've been coming here, I have been asking for no tomatoes, and every single time: there are tomatoes. The first few times it happened, I gave Dayna the benefit of the doubt, and thought maybe it wouldn't happen again. Fast forward 2 more months of them doing this to me I even tried to talk to them but they still kept on, I'm thinking purposefully, messing up my order. It came to the point where when I was in the drive-through and ordering, I basically shouted no tomatoes. Yet I was met with the same disappointment when I checked my burger. This happened to me yesterday, and enough is enough. Not only that, Dayna, the manager I mentioned earlier NEVER LOSES to apply additional and pointless charges on to my order, for things like a hot sauce packet. I have been eating at Culver's for 5 years and I've never seen anyone do that and I have never been charged except for when Dayna is there. Again, at first, I thought that she's being reasonable, because I get 5-7 packets of hot sauce. Mind you, these packets are the size of a small ketchup packet. She would apply 25 cents per packet and would ring up however much she wanted, even when I would just ask for a small amount of hot sauce. This, obviously would add around 2-4 more dollars to my order, and waste lots of hot sauce. Being aware of this, I went to Culver's yesterday and when I made my order, I said to Dayna (who was working drive-through) that I didn't want ANY hot sauce (partially because the sauce they had already been ripping me off for had stacked up enough at my house to the point where I didn't need any more). However, she placed the charge for EIGHT packets of hot sauce, which added two more dollars to my order. At the window, I asked for my money back because I had stated I didn't want any sauce in my order. Instead of giving me my 2 dollars back, she handed me a dollar bill and was overall very rude. Once I looked at my receipt, I realized I was cut a dollar short, AND THEY PUT TOMATOES ON MY ORDER AGAIN. Every time Dayna is there my order is messed up or I'm ripped off. I'm very dissatisfied with Culver's service and I don't think I will return again. read more

They messed up a very simple order of Chili Cheese Fries. The first order soaked thru the paper container & all over the bag. The 2nd time, they made it with no Chili. I let the 1st one go, but after the 2nd incident, I went back right away & let them know. Would've been fine that they remade the orders, but both my kids became ill with stomach problems shortly after eating the redone orders. Never going back!!! Scary, but it seemed a big deal to have the orders corrected & then the Manager personally delivered the corrected order & seemed eerie in hind sight. read more
