Culver's is advertising their special "Cheesecake" custard on their pylon order signage. The advertised "Cheesecake" special has Reese's pieces and other chocolates. At Drive thru- ordered the special "Cheesecake" custard, shrimp basket, and two order of curds. Specifically had the discussion twice of needing cocktail sauce and two ranch cups and the Custard with Reese's pieces. Got home from drive thru and got no cocktail sauce, no ranch, and wrong custard. Of course it was 10:30 on Saturday and this location gave up on customer service a year ago. Just checked, at least I was charged 0.35 cents for two cocktail sauces each and two ranch's each, which were not provided. So I was stolen from. I guess we are now down to Chik-fil-a as the only quick serve restaurant that provides real service. And at the drive-thru, I got the deep look in the eyes and verbal confirmation that "we checked and fixed your custard order". Surprise, they didn't. read more

FPO and I had never tried Culver's before. We'd been running evening errands and it was after 8 pm so most of the places we would've gone to were closed. We'd been meaning to try Culver's for a while. The restaurant was clean, the drive-thru was doing some brisk business. The employees were friendly and helpful. The food was hot and fresh. I wanted to go back again the following day but I think pretzel bites should really be considered a treat rather than a basic food group. (Sometimes being a grown-up sucks.) I had the fish dinner and it was delicious. FPO had one of the burgers and cheese curds, which were both favorably compared to Freddy's. We will definitely be going back. read more

Culvers is probably my favorite fast food burger spot. I almost always go with a mushroom Swiss burger. It's always tasty and is just good comfort food. I love a good crinkle cut fry and they deliver. I did try the infamous curder burger on my last visit. It was fine. It's one of those gimmicky things that's ok once but you'd rather just have the usual going forward. I love the spicy tenders but they've been out of spicy chicken for FOREVER! I don't know what the deal is. But if they ever bring back the heat, definitely try it. They also deliver in the custard department. I love ice cream and all variations of it so I like to stock up on pints. If you go inside there's a little freezer towards the front that's filled with all sorts of flavors and combinations. They sell 4 pints for $12.99 which is a hell of a deal and much cheaper than buying a concrete. read more

The Butter Burger - I always order the single cheeseburger- is the best burger I have ever tasted and it is much larger than the standard fast food one. The lightly buttered bun is delicious and the burger is larger than the bun! Plus it is made to order. Yes, you may have to wait a few minutes, but it is so worth it. I also usually order a waffle cone with two generous scoops of chocolate ice cream. Both the cone and ice cream are scrumptious. I suppose I should order something different, everything looks good, but I love my cheeseburger and ice cream. read more

Have visited the Metcalf Culver's location three times since my mediocre review in January. I am very pleased to report the January visit was a fluke as stated within my original review. Kudos to the staff whom have always showed professionalism, courtesy, 'true' customer service (Manager asking customers how everything is) and showing respect. On this last visit, ordered the chicken strips and mashed potatoes/chicken gravy. Hot, fresh and delicious. Will continue supporting this Mission location. read more

Culvers have always been bad about the soft serve being too soft. Its half melted by the time you park and its a race to eat it before it all turns to liquid. I've complained twice at other locations and I get "Its just the way it is" This happened again to day. Hot fudge sunday. Parked, almost no hot fudge. Half melted; They made me another one. More fudge and I lost the race to eat it while its frozen. I'm 100% done with their expensive ice creme. $8 bucks for sunday! never again! I love the food but I'm fed up. We stopped in on Saturday night to pick up two pints of ice cream. Drive through was packed so I walked in. I was amazed at the selection, the freezer was full. Got home to discover that both had been thawed and refrozen since I basically had 2 pints of flavored ice crystals. My wife wouldn't touch it. We got a salted caramel pumpkin concrete - and I have to say, they missed the mark here. You just gotta add graham crackers. It's a necessary condition to a well-rounded texture; without it, it's too smooth. Of course, you must get whipped cream on top. It was pretty good, though. A note on Culver's staff and flavor amalgamations: They're both wonderful. The staff really does a spectacular job. You can tell at each and ever Culver's you visit that it's developed in the mix. These people - more than the food, really - are just great at customer service. But the flavors! How do they do it? I don't know, but they do it almost better than any other shop - Cold Stone is nearly magic, so they win the flavor battle. But Culver's makes food too, so they win the war. Try a salted pumpkin concrete with graham crackers - and stay far away from the pumpkin shake unless you're a weirdo that likes plain pumpkin. I admit to it, sadly. I was suckered to this place by an ad. I was watching this ad and this jolly, slight overweight old guy appeared on my TV, telling me how good their Cod Fish sandwiches are. And darn did it look good. So I decided to go to one to try it out. I had been to Culver's before and they are trying to build a reputation of being like a Chik-fil-a. Their goal is to welcome you, be very friendly and offer you good food. Well, they failed all counts on my visit. The first two fails were ones I don't really care about. They didn't greet me, give me their spiel or thank me for my business. They were about as friendly as a regular McDonalds during rush hour (if you've been to a busy one, you'll get that reference). The food being of poor quality is no excuse though. My fish basket sandwich combo came out to $11 with tax, much more than what a fast food sandwich combo goes for. Maybe it has to do with the inflation that is going around, but at $11, I'm expecting to be wowed. Getting home a couple of minutes later, I opened the package. The fries, which for me is a highlight, was as good as usual. Crispy while light and with no salt...just the way I like it. But the sandwich....where do I start? First, the sandwich comes on a rectangular potato bun, which is soft and fluffy. But the fish only covered a little more than half the space of the bun, which meant a lot of bread with nothing.... Secondly, the quality of the cod was okay on the first bite, but a second bite revealed that poor texture. The Filet o Fish is a tastier piece of meat, even if it looks like it came from a manufacturing plant. Thirdly, the sandwich came with shredded lettuce, which was a bit old and made everything messy. On top of it, the one thing Culver's should be good at (the cheese), was a few pieces of shredded cheese that looked and felt old. The shredded lettuce was extremely messy because the sandwich did not have any wet condiments. While I don't want mustard or ketchup on my fish, I did expect tartar sauce. BUT THERE WAS NONE. No Tartar sauce on a fried fish sandwich is sacramount to EPIC FAILURE. If they served this in England, there would have been riots. But this is Kansas and most of the customers were nice old people so I guess Culvers is not used to people complaining about their food. But I will never set foot in this place, unless I really crave their fries..... read more

Although the food at Culver's, in general is very good, this store gets a three star for their service. We ordered "carry-out", and watched as our prepared food sat in the window for several minutes. We finally went up to the counter and asked if what was in the window was our order, the employee said, "Yes. But please wait a few until I get these orders out to the dining room." We waited. The manager than came to the counter to take care of a transaction unrelated to our order. When I saw that it was the manager. I kindly remarked that the food in the window was our order and we have waited a long time to get it. He remarked, "They are getting to it." Then he went on with his transaction. At this moment, another employee realized the scenario and immediately went over to bag our food and deliver it to us. I applaud his efforts. Unfortunately, this was an overall poor service experience. Culver's, as a whole, is an excellent company. This store on Metcalf Avenue in Mission, KS is not at all reflective of Culver's reputation of value to customers. This particular store could use some guidance in management and in service arena to cistomwrs. read more

Not pleased. Spent $27 on two kids meals and two burgers and a side of cheese curds. We eat fries in the car, so instantly I knew they weren't fresh out of the frier since they were room temperature. My burger was fine, nothing memorable. Cheese curds ok. Not worth almost $4, and maybe I had to spend money on the dipping sauce? I'm not 100% sure, but I think I was charged for it. Kids meals are pretty pricey, but I figured "hey we get custard with it at least!" When we got home, I learned we have to drive all the way back to get our custard when we want it. I thought they'd serve it in a frozen cup that we could stick in the freezer at home like how Freddys does it. All in all, I feel ripped off by this meal. Almost $30 should go a lot further than it did here. I went into this place thinking that I was going to get a decent meal After the young lady that handed it to me in the car read back exactly what I ordered I get to the house and it is not what I ordered I tell my wife about she jumps my butt tells me because I didn't check it it's my fault so I don't appreciate I called back up there and complained and and told that we cannot give you credit we cannot give you a gift certificate we can't do anything At all except to come back and wait in line for 30 minutes. We can only say we suck. After complaining to my wife I was told that this happens about 1/2 the time so why did she want me to go there. Ps called up there and ask for the manager and the person answer the phone wast a lady that says she was the manager and then in a few seconds later she gives me another person who said he was a manager so a place that has this many managers working at it you would think they could at least get an order straight. It's funny how I've never had this many problems with Chick-fil-A Burger King and McDonald's so they can get good help why can't you. read more

I admit, we were there on a busy Friday night, but this place is going to need to work on their attention to detail. The parking lot/drive thru design takes some getting used to. We ordered a shake and a concrete. It took a couple tries to get the order taker to repeat the order correctly. We weren't quite sure we'd get what we ordered. We pulled up to the window and Miss Preteen Merriam is working the window. She's real cute and all, but brainy she was not. She is busy looking over her shoulder chatting with her buddy and instead of putting my change in my hand, she puts it all over the parking lot. She looks down on the ground and says "Ooops [giggle] sorry about that" and shrugs. I said "Oh, that's no problem, how much did you drop?" She tells me. I said "That's fine, you can get me some more money out of your drawer and come get this out of the parking lot later." She just stood there in the window with her mouth open staring at me in disbelieve. I waved at her to "go on, get my money from your drawer, or come outside and pick it up off the pavement, because I'm sure as hell not going to do it." She blinked back her disbelief, took one more look down at the pavement, then went and got my change again. Well, I'd obviously ruined her night by then. She shoved my two items out the window at me, still stinging from having to provide some customer service to a customer. Our order was okay, but we got the mint shakes and concretes that are being advertised right now and the mint was barely even mixed in. Took my place in an extremely long line only to be told they're currently not serving the sandwich I wanted. Okay... while a sign would have been nice as I'd have left the line but I'm at the speaker now... so I'll order. I ordered a cashew chicken salad. Dressing choice? There's not a corresponding dressing to a cashew chicken salad? Nope. Is there anything CLOSE to a dressing choice for a cashew chicken salad? Again, no. Okay give me vinagrette....... and they only came to the car once... to ask if I wanted chicken in my cashew CHICKEN salad. Yes, please. The chicken was literally the chicken version of a McRib. Pressed chicken "meat" into a form to resemble a breast, then sliced. It was full of grissle or... something and it was disgusting. A plain "butter burger" purchased for my dog was the strangest "meat" I've ever seen and the cheese burger basket contained the same mystery meat. This was a $20 order and all but a few bites were thrown away. Guess I have to find another place for a quick pork tenderloin... can't imagine what that's made of. I arrived in the middle of a stress eating shame spiral! I wanted one of everything, but settled on three. I ordered a cod filet, cheese curds, and a vanilla shake. The total was almost $13. My order was taken with accuracy by a friendly young lady who was very pleasant, but sounded as though she needed a good nap if she was going to get through this lunch service. My sandwich and cheese curds quickly arrived carside and I dared to escape this Bermuda Triangle of food. It get's pretty treacherous over here, so proceed with caution during peak times. I think Culver's vanilla custard milkshake may be creamier and more smooth than Sheridan's custard concrete. The cheese curds were crunchy and pretty good for fast food. They aren't as good as I've had at Blanc, but still very delicious. The cod fillet sandwich came on a beautiful bun (seriously, this bun was f'ing pretty!) with lettuce and cheese. The lettuce was fresh and there was plenty of cheese. The cod was fried to golden brown and pretty tasty. Overpriced for fast food, but not far from their neighbor, Chik-fil-a. I might eat fast food once every few weeks, which is still too often for me, but I would eat here again. read more

Hubby took me here one evening when I had a sore throat to get some cool frozen custard to soothe it. Now, I have to admit, I hadn't jumped onto the custard bandwagon before this experience. I do know that frozen custard is big now, hence all the various custard places popping up around town, but after consuming one of the worst desserts of my life at this place, I have to wonder why. Maybe the other custard places are good, and Culver's just sucks? I don't know. My frozen dessert came with toppings and being a chocolate fiend, I selected chocolate brownie bits. This befouled the already bad frozen custard even more. The brownie bits were disgusting rubbery bits with a chemically flavor piled onto a cold mound of yucky nearly flavorless custard. My husband had a pumpkin shake thing that he thought was ok and I tasted it and it was certainly better than my gawdawful dessert. This is the only reason why they get two stars instead of one. And the kids working behind the counter seem pretty nice and competent at their jobs, too. read more
