I have catered McAlister's a handful of times and it's been great. Today I did a personal order through Uber and I was very disappointed. I had asked for extra mayo on the wrap and extra gorgonzola on the salad which neither of them had. The salad was fine, had good flavor, and would probably order again if I ever come back, but the wrap was sad... as shown in the photos. I had also ordered the famous sweet tea with lemons everyone talks about but they forgot to add a side of lemons.. If this wasn't an uber order I would have called and said that things were missing from the order but it wasn't worth it. I just hope when the next person orders extra of something or a side of lemons they get what they pay for.. read more

My parents and I came here for the T-Mobile Tuesday free French Dip sandwich with drink purchase. I regrettably didn't get a photo of the sandwich, but I tried their bacon spud instead. It was really good! I wish they put butter on it under the cheese instead of on the side, and the bacon being in strips instead of crumbled on top was a bit unusual but good nonetheless. They were very busy, but the staff seemed to do a good job managing the long line and many customers. read more

Wifey and I were jonzing for homemade chili and I searched on Yelp for somewhere close by. McAlisters popped up with their "filled with beef, beef and more beef to give it a hearty flavor that will warm your heart" chili. I downloaded their app and ordered 2 bowls of chili and a carrot cake. I went down there to pick up earlier than my designated time and was surprised it was already packed up and waiting for me on the pick up shelf. That was a pleasant surprise. I got home and we heated up my homemade sourdough cornbread I made the other day and dug in. Ohhh my gosh!! It was super salty and had waaaaay to much cumin (or whatever spice it was) in the chili. Wifey loves salt and it was too salty for her. I also noticed portion wise it looked more like a "cup" than a "bowl". It wasn't even filled to the top. There was at least an inch headspace. I so hate wasting food so I tried putting both "bowls" in a pot with tomato paste and water to dilute the saltiness/over seasoning. It didn't help and I threw it in the trash. Wasted $15 for both "bowls" of chili. Wifey and I love a good carrot cake and she didn't wanna try it cause the bad experience of the chili. I did and wasn't impressed. It was jus a carrot cake with big pieces of walnuts in it. Nothing special. I still haven't found one better than Q39's one. Well I'm super hesitant on going back to try something else. I usually try 2-3 times before calling quits. We'll see if I do. I know wifey won't wanna. I gave 2 stars cause the app was easy to use and the food was ready even before my designated time. I've always liked McAllister's. Flavorful sandwich creation is a nice selection of sides, great iced tea and killer brownies. I go to the one on Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee Kansas and my last couple visits or a little off. On the first of those was terrible and I wrote a review And received a coupon for a free entrée. I redeemed the entrée, getting a half-and-half (sandwich and salad) and an iced tea it was a $20 check before they took off the coupon which still left $8. I feel like their prices of escalated out of proportion to other nearby eateries (Arby's, Shawnee Pizza, Chick-fil-A). read more

We started coming here for the first time ever back in June. We all loved it, my husband, my girls and myself. It was really good! We have been here several times since. However, we have been less than satisfied the last two times we were here and I have no intentions on returning. Today (10/8) we ordered a Jalapeno Crunch and two cheese toasties with turkey one with fruit one with mac n cheese. The jalapeno crunch came out woththe meat cold cold barely any chips on it and very old avocado. It was terrible tasting. The bread was also somewhat harder and older tasting than usual. My girls' cheese toasties barely had cheese on them and my daughters wouldn't eat her mac n cheese and this kid eats EVERYTHING. The time before the bacon was so burnt I couldn't even bite it without it hurting my teeth. They didn't seem to care about it that time so I didn't even bring it up this time because I didn't have time to deal with lack of give a damn today. I had the chicken salad sandwich on Sunday and was violently ill during the night. I had to go to urgent care. I called the deli and first spoke with a server who was extremely nice - she got the manager. The manager was argumentative and said I couldn't prove I got sick from there. It was the only thing I ate on Sunday and my doctor confirmed food poisoning. I have been home from work for two days! I called to tell them to throw out the chicken salad and was treated terribly! I enjoy McAllister's Deli. The food is always prepared fresh and they have quite a variety of sandwiches, salads, and soups. I ordered the Savannah chopped salad today and it was delicious. I always liked the dried cranberries, honey roasted almonds, and that special dressing. It's a good combination! You don't wait too long for your meal, and there is always someone walking around to make sure that you're taken care of and to refill your drink. This location is easily accessible right off of the road, and there's plenty of parking in the front or the rear of the building. The dining room has plenty of seating with high top tables, as well as regular tables and booths. read more

McAlister's Deli is one of my ol' go-to's. A delicious menu with plenty of variety, McAlister's has something for everyone. It's simple counter service - order at the counter, they give you your drink(s) and a number, grab your lid and straw, find a seat, and they will bring your food to you in no time! The staff has always been super friendly and helpful to me. They can get busy - especially at lunch and on weekends. I don't think I've ever been there and NOT spotted children (family friendly!). My favorite is the Grilled Chicken Sandwich (the one that comes on a croissant, not the Club) with a side of Mac n' Cheese and a Half n' Half Iced Tea (half sweet, half unsweetened). One day I'll try a loaded spud with an Arnold Palmer but for now I just love my 'usual' so much! read more

Wanted a casual place to grab lunch with a friend. I had never been to a McAlister's Deli before so I took a bit longer while ordering. The cashier I had was not friendly and he acted annoyed that I didn't know my order. I ended up ordering a choose 2 with the Jalapeño Turkey Crunch, Pecanberry Salad and a lemonade which came out to $19.27. My drink was filled to the very top with ice (without asking me if I wanted any) and when you're paying 3.99 for a lemonade, I want more drink than ice. The food itself was good, but when I had gotten up to get a straw I came back and there was a gnat crawling on my sandwich. I had swatted it off and discarded that part of my food but within a few minutes another two gnats had appeared crawling on my sandwich. I ended up throwing out the remainder of my food. Considering the price, customer service, and the cleanliness of the restaurant I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

If it wasn't for the fact that their Reuben sandwich was good and the fact that my wife likes their food, I'd never come here ever again!!!!!! Every time I order, they can't seem to add a simple pickle spear to my order, and this time they completely gave me the entire wrong order. I only noticed because I have to double check EVERY ORDER, because of the missing pickle spear, EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!!!!!!! And don't get me started with sour cream or butter for a baked potato that you specifically asked for... I've called and spoke with the manager about 4-6 times, so has my roommate. Doesn't seem to fix anything. I've even contacted their corporate office about 4 times...no effect! Sure it's a pickle spear, but my roommate is diabetic and this is a "0" food for him. And it's the fact that if they screw up putting in a single pickle spear, what else are they screwing up? Wow. This place is lacking in customer service and cleanliness. I watched a customer stand at the counter for over 5 minutes as employee after employee walked right past her and ignored her. The young woman taking orders asked my name then stared at me never once asking me what I'd like to order. The floor was filthy and at 3:30 there were over 10 tables covered in dirty dishes. We meet here for lunch with my in-laws a couple of times a year, and they have the best broccoli cheese soup and iced tea in town! This may not sound important, but if you are a broccoli cheese lover like myself it's everything! Today I also tried the Pecanberry salad, with fresh strawberries and blueberries, with a raspberry vinaigrette, and it was out of this world! It pains me to write this review but I must be true to my experience. A coworker and I decided to grab lunch at McAlister's as I was raving about their tasty chicken club sandwich. We arrive and head to order. Now I've never been inside of this restaurant since the two previous orders were either Postmates or a friend dropped it off to me. So it took a few minutes to find my way. There was a young blonde cashier who took us in her line. I order my food, she asks if I'd like a drink and I declined saying I just wanted water. I hand her my debit card and she tosses it on the counter. PET PEEVE ALERT! Then she asks if it's to-go or dine-in. I respond with "we're going to eat her. She tosses the table top order number card on the counter. PET PEEVE ALERT! I slide to the side so that I can help my coworker in case he has issues. He orders and asks for water. She tosses his debit card and order card on the counter as well. At this point I'm LIVID. Then I remembered who I was...a YELP ELITE. So I held it together and proceeded to check in on the app so I'd remember to post a review. After she hands him his water I jokingly say "so do I not get a water?" I kid you not, she says "Did you ask for one" with a snotty undertone. It took everything with me to grit my teeth and say "Yes, when you asked my drink choice I said I would just drink water." I would've given 1 or 2 stars based on that interaction alone, but the food was good and well plated. Word to the wise, retrain your cashiers on customer service and etiquette. Had I been anyone different, this poor review wouldn't have been the final result of this visit UPDATE: I was sent a gift certificate for a free meal. I hadn't been in since before the pandemic and had planned on using some gift cards to pay for my order. However, two or three months ago McAlister's was apparently bought out and now their are having all kinds of issues with older gift cards not working. Valerie, who I assume was the manager, explained the situation and said she would take care of my order! I was very appreciative as it's quite a drive from where I now live to this location (which is the closest to me). She said to call the number on their website as their system couldn't even show purchase history, just balance. They were very busy but got the food out to me very quickly! Excellent service and excellent food. The only reason I took off a star is because my sandwich was made with two pieces of bread that were nowhere near the same size. I don't know who thought that would make a good sandwich but I would advise that the staff be reminded that a sandwich is supposed to be made with bread that is about the same size. The food was really good it would have been better if they would have made the sandwiches the way they were ordered. We ordered one sandwich with no onions and no lettuce as someone is allergic to it. The other sandwich was ordered with extra red onions and light lettuce. Well you can picture what happened they were piled high with their spring mix and plenty of onions on one sub and plenty of spring mix and hardly any onions on the other. When we took the subs back in they told us we don't have time to remake them. So beat them 35 hours worth of sandwiches in the trash can and went and ate at Jersey Mike's. Upon walking in I was greeted by a lonnnng line to order, which made me worry a bit, but WOW these employees are fast! The line moved so quickly I barely had time to plan my order. Despite the large crowd, my cashier seemed calm, cool, and collected. In fact, every employee had a smile on their face, and they all looked as though they were really enjoying their time at work. Not something you see every day in the restaurant industry. I ordered a 1/2 veggie potato and 1/2 chopped salad to go. Both were fresh, flavorful, and incredible filling. I especially loved the salad dressing. Carry out or eat in, this is one of our favorite places! Yummy, the best tea! We bought the Unlimited Tea Club last year. This year they have tea passes, for sale, that last 30 days at a time. The staff is friendly and helpful. My husband has food allergies, so it's difficult to find places that will accommodate with substitutions. The tall manager, sorry I don't know his name. (He went to the Missouri store and came back to Shawnee.) He overheard us talking about the allergy to lettuce. He suggested going all spinach. Wow, it was a game changer for my husband, he can enjoy salads again. Sandwiches can be made with wraps instead of bread, another game changer! Since we are almost empty nesters and the kids take care of their own food most of the time; we eat at McAlister's at least 3 days out of the week. Big variety, healthy portions and a welcoming environment. A+ read more

Tonight it was just me eating dinner, so I decided to place a to go order online. Super easy process. I was able to search allergens on their online menu to find what would fit my vegan eating habits. (Their allergen search feature is by far the best I've come across. Thank you, McAlister's corporate for making things easier for your customers!) I was thrilled they had a decent amount of items that would work. I went with a bowl of veggie chili and a veggie sandwich. The online ordering system was easy to use and I was able to customize my items easily. Once I got to the restaurant, I hopped in line to grab my order. Turns out that all the online orders get placed on a shelf near the take-out door, so you can just grab and go. If you ordered a drink you will have to ask them to fill the cup for you. I'm guessing they don't fill them ahead of time so the ice isn't all melted. My order was packaged perfectly for the trip home. They even wrap the soup bowl in plastic wrap so it doesn't leak. The veggie chili was really good! Lots of beans and tomato pieces. Very heart and filling. I should have gotten a cup instead of a bowl. The veggie sandwich was good, but not overly flavorful. I added hot sauce at home. I did order the sandwich without it's mayo, so that's probably why it was missing some flavor. Next time I'll add a vegan sauce option if possible. The veggies in the sandwich were fresh and crisp and the bread was great. Now that I know McAlister's is vegan and vegetarian friendly as well as a place my family can get their meaty sandwich and baked potato needs met, we'll definitely stop by more often. read more

I had really friendly counter service. I couldn't believe how busy they were on a weekday afternoon around 1:30 pm! I got a taco salad to go. It didn't take long, even though I special ordered it to leave off some toppings. I had some trouble leaving the parking lot because a huge truck parked behind me that seemed to be making a delivery to the tire store next door. I'd recommend not parking on that side of the building. The food was good. The salad was Huge and a decent price. It had a bit more tomatoes than my preference. I wasn't too fond of their chili that comes as a topping, but chili comes in a wide variety of ways. The guacamole was good (I'm typically not a fan). I've been going to McAlisters since it opened here and the food and service has always been great. But here lately (like the last 3 or 4 times that I gave been in), my orders have been up to 25 min late, the order has been completely messed up. They run out of potatoes, so no spuds on a Friday night. I have even had to show proof of order when picking up and then got home with someone else's order in my sack along with mine. I understand that we are in the middle of a pandemic and that workers are hard to find, but new workers need training and accountability regardless if they want to work or not. If they don't want work or be trained to do the job right, they don't need to work. I hope McAlister gets it straight soon or they will lose me and others as customers and end up closing. read more

We stopped in on a whim the other day, my husband and I, to give this place a try. It was a Saturday and the place was pretty busy. It was hard to tell what tables were taken as they all had these table numbers across them and the others were dirty but we managed. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and they were soooo good! I didn't think I was going to love them since they were more chili than "nacho" meat. I got the pick 2.. the king club and a potato soup and my husband got their Reuben as he is on a quest for the best Reuben in KC. He said it was delicious as well as my sandwich and soup were. I really like the food and staff is fine. I just wish training was better. I was just in there and asked about rewards program. Employee thought it was the Tea Pass program but I said I pay for that program and what I was looking at "says" rewards. To me that says not paying, something extra for spending money at restaurant. I tried to say I knew there use to be a survey that a customer sometimes got on a receipt and she said didn't do that anymore. So is it where you take a picture of your receipt and points add up?? She just said she didn't know and walked away as I was saying was there a manger there. No response. What exactly is the rewards program. Thanks read more
