We went to Culvers for a late dinner on Wednesday July 15th. We ordered a 2 piece cod dinner and a mushroom and swiss basket. We also had drinks. Our order came to $38.89 for our order made through the drivethrough window. We ordered at 7:50 PM, we pulled around and parked in the drivethrough waiting line I walked up to the main doors at 8:20 because we hadn't gotten our food yet. When I got to the front door it was locked and there was a sign that stated that they closed at 8:00PM. I banged on the door ntil someone finally came to see what I wanted. I stated that we were still waiting in drivethrough for our food. The runner heard me so she ran out to our van and gave our food to my husband. The guy who was talking to me announced that the order had been delivered, although I met the girl half way to my van. When we opened the bag there were no forks to eat the cole slaw or fish with, no ketchup, the Onion Rings and Fries were cold, the fish was all soggy and greasy and one piece was obviously undercooked and blond on one side from not being turned over. $40.00 is a lot of money to pay for such horrible food and treatment. I will never trust Culvers again. Also my husband says there were no mushrooms or swiss cheese on his Mushroom burger. read more

2 of the last 3 most recent purchases have been problematic. Trip 1, the window attendant thought it was a good idea to stuff 7 napkins in each of the drink tray holes before placing the two concrete mixers in the slots. THIS DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF THE DRINK TRAY. which is to SECURE THE CONTENTS. Had a mess to clean up on the floor of my car by time I drove the half-mile home because one mixer tilted and the other mixer fell completely out. The fact that the concrete mixers were made incorrectly exacerbated the problem. They were more like watery shakes AND each was missing the sauce ingredient. Concrete mixers when made correctly can be turned upside down without spillage! Called AND emailed them with all of the details regarding my issue, including the half-hour I spent cleaning my car. The phone number was an eternal busy signal and the email only said they would try to get in touch with me by phone. How about respond to the issue IN THE EMAIL? This issue never got resolved despite the specific details I gave them on two occasions. Trip 3, I asked for my burger to be made SUPER WELL DONE (my exact words) because they tend to undercook their burgers at this location. The burger came back less than medium and in the center it was medium rare as there were deeper red segments. I got the exact opposite of what I specifically ordered. Receiving an undercooked burger despite my requesting the exact opposite has happened at least 7 times before in the past several months, but never THIS undercooked. I understand that it is mostly young adults working during the times I visit; but how hard is it to BURN A BURGER ON REQUEST?? All the complimentary coupons in the world doesn't fix repeatedly problematic order issues. I'm done with this location. A newer-style Culver's not too far off the interstate that made for a pleasant Friday afternoon lunch on our way to central Wisconsin. Service was fast and friendly; there was no wait at the counter when we arrived around 2 PM. Staff was busy cleaning the dining room and beverage area while we waited for our food, and everything came out fresh and hot despite not being a peak service time. I got the Cheddar Butterburger with Bacon basket and it was a greasy, delicious mountain of food that kept me full well into the evening. My boyfriend got the fish fry dinner with mashed potatoes. I stole a bite and they were stiff (in a good way) with a lot of chicken flavor in the gravy. It's rare that we stop in Portage, but if we find ourselves needing a quick meal on the road again, this would easily be a contender. read more

This is my second time coming to Culver's in the last 2 weeks. Both visits were for custard. Culver's is known to be a Wisconsin staple and has the best custard and shakes! Or at least they used to. This location has redone the drive thru so it has 2 lanes to help. That addition is great to keep the flow. What really needs an upgrade is the customer service and quality in general! Last week I went and got a regular vanilla shake and a chocolate shake. The vanilla shake was SO thick it was like a cup of straight custard. Today I went and ordered 2 concrete mixers. We were asked to pull ahead after paying. This is typical when you order food, but not just treats. We watched 5 cars behind us get their food and cold treats before us. When the concrete mixers were finally brought out they were completely melted and not edible. I hope that they are able to improve on the training. I understand they are probably under staffed so a wait is okay IF the product is of somewhat actual quality. read more

Parked where staff told me to park and then I was told I parked in the wrong spot which is why my $68 cod dinners were cold and my malt melted. The manager lied to me saying that they came out looking for my vehicle but couldn't find it, even though I parked where I was told to park BY STAFF. Corporate only responded after I posted a negative review. Culver's are pure money grabbers. Corporate stuck up for the staff that lied so expect the same with any complaints. All they want is our money. They don't care if they screw up and lie to the customer, they got their money up front. So the commercials where the founder is talking about the care they have for their customers is a lie. He's clearly interested in selling franchises and depositing the money they took from us. AVOID this establishment like it's the plague. But if you do patronize Culver's, don't complain when you have an issue to complain about and corporate doesn't do anything. I've been to portage Culvers many times. I keep coming back because the staff are super nice, the food is fresh and tasty and its clean. They have a great selection. Healthy salads, soups and the best burgers. I love that they have a fish fry 7 days a week. I miss the chicken dinner but their chicken tenders are really moist and flavorful. They have other dinners too and the best cole slaw. read more

So went this evening and ordered some burgers and salad from drive through, came up to the window and asked if I can get few fries for my little puppy and was told no we cant do that. I was like you cant give me literally 2 wedges of fries. I dont eat fries due to health issues and have always been given fries or treats for my little puppy who jumps up to the window on my lap. We came here for a late night eat, which was the only time I've been here that it hasn't been beyond packed. Staff was friendly, orders were correct. My sister ordered fried cheese curds, and although they came out hot, any one that was slightly larger was still cold in the middle. She said something, and they gave her another order, but the larger ones still had the same issue, so she gave up. Their chicken tenders look over done, but the children liked them. Fries were crinkled and delicious. We use this place as a half way point to Northern Wisconsin, so we will probably stop back, although I might suggest somewhere else. read more

Well, you know what you get when you go to Culver's. This location is no different, except for the small town feel. I usually go on my lunch break and the same lady works the drive thru window. She is always friendly, happy and excited to be there. I have never had any issues with the food or orders going awry. The food is good for a chain burger joint. Their chicken tenders usually make me drool. They also have a great variety of salads and soups. This location does a great job of giving back to the community. ahhh, a place in portage that takes amex! and has 11 year old boys working behind the counter. seriously, dude wasn't old enough to drive, or even count money, but there he was! can anybody tell me why they have iced coffee in two flavors, vanilla and as the child told me "moochi" (normally known as mocha)? high as a kite after all the fat and sugar and coffee clogging up my veins. Our second trip (hey, they take amex, have salads, and are clean compared to most places in portage) they screwed up and didn't give me lettuce/tomato/pickle/onion on my butter burger.
