I wonder if the park is closed for use. There is no water and only dust and mud. There is got to be an explanation of why the park looks like this. There is a lot of construction around it and the park should be closed down if not at least necessary basic is provided such as water. read more

One of the better, if not the best dog runs/parks in Queens right now. Things it has going for it: - Not a lot of wear and tear - Very clean - Plenty of parking - Seating for humans - Has 2 dog drinking fountains - Has 2 separate runs (big and small dog runs) - Safe area/park - Has plenty of shade Things it has against it: - Bathrooms (for humans) near parking lot aren't always open - Can get a little crowded at peak times on weekends - Parking on the street can get you a ticket if you park on the east side of 193rd St near the entrance Have been on a dog run/park tour and this is in my opinion the best dog run in Queens. Great place to take the dogs for some outdoor exercise. Enough room to run for the big ones with a smaller dog area to keep the little ones safe. Water fountain for pets and their owners, picnic table and benches plus a herding ball for fun. Trees around the park provide enough shade to make it comfortable even on a hot day. read more

This dog park is not suitable for any dog. The run is poorly maintained, some of the fixtures were broken and posed a serious hazard. The pet owners that frequent this dog run had little to no control over their pets. Their pets do not exhibit healthy playful habits. Owners were not active in discipling their pets as the dogs were very aggressive. The area for small dogs were occupied by large dogs and the owners called it the "detention" area. I have a 6 month old Labrador that plays at many dogs runs and is fairly well trained but was petrified by this experience. While the dog run was a huge disappointment, Cunningham Park is a great place to bring your dog. On the lawns there are many respectful dog owners that can have their dog off leash and are well trained. read more

I bring my puppy here a lot since he digs up the compost heaps in my backyard. This run would have gotten more stars last summer when the water fountains were working and the ground was covered in wood chips. Now that it's winter and the fountains are shut off to prevent freezing, a few of the gates are busted and most of the wood chips are gone. I still bring my dog here to frolic in the snow covered dirt and hang out with his dog buddies....however as the snow melts into the uncovered dirt, mud ponds are formed in the center of both the little and big run. It's bad when your dog likes wallowing in it. Mine does. (And this mud has dog pee and who knows what else in it.) For now I will only bring him if the ground is frozen over or use Little Bay Park. read more

I've been bringing my dog to this run for years. It has gotten so neglected that it's a health hazard. Every time I bring my dog here he gets a serious bacterial infection on his paws. I've let it heal, bring him back to the park, and sure enough the infection is back every time. It's so bad now that pads on his paws are bleeding. I don't understand how the NYC Parks Department can spend millions of dollars on maintaining the rest of the park - tennis courts, big apple circus, etc., yet can't put a cent into this dog run. There are hardly any wood chips, and the rest is mud, dog waste and garbage. It's an unsanitary disgrace and should be contaminated. Should be better. The place is simply neglected. I am afraid to bring the dog here. Yes, it is that serious. I know that in NYC things tend to get old faster due to weather conditions. But this is not an excuse to neglect the park in a way that makes you feel bad to bring your dog here. And don't get me wrong, the park itself is in a OK condition. It's dirty and not taken care of. There is more dirt than mulch. Most of the dog owners there do not follow the rules that are clearly posted on the dog run. Examples are the significant amount of dog poop that is littered over each part of the dog run. The dog owners don't keep smaller dog run for little dogs, several times there were massive dogs in the smaller part. People take un-neutered males to the dog run and don't keep them from humping other dogs. There is no park employees around to keep the dog owners from not following the rules. read more

A large dog run and small dog run next to each other. It's a dirt floor with some wood chips. There is a picnic bench in the sun and three benches under a tarp. There's running water for dogs and humans. There are also a random huge ball and part of a slide on the floor. It's in the big cunningham park which is pretty well maintained with a parking lot. We were there for the first time with our dog mid day on 9/21/16. The place was littered with garbage, and poorly maintained. It appears that attendees are not cleaning up after themselves. Deep holes are dug up by dogs that have not been filled by irresponsible dog owners. Some areas are not covered by wood chips and muddy. Furthermore, in my opinion wood chips are not a well suited ground cover for a dog run. They absorb dog urine, and stay wet, breed bacteria, and that is exactly what the place smelled like. We were disappointed, and did not stay. Perhaps that is why it was vacant, and no one else was present. read more

I absolutely love this dog park! There is plenty of space for big dogs and small dogs, although the dogs all play together. The dog owners are extremely respectful of others and the dogs are all well behaved. The park is clean and well maintained. Doggy doo-doo is cleaned up immediately. They even have bags at the park for you. I bring my dog here almost every night for the past 2 months and she absolutely loves it! read more

Took my chihuahua here cause I read online that there was a section for small dogs and large dogs. When I arrived the small dog section was empty so I went in with my dog and closed the gate . I then played fetch with him with his favorite toy. The owners of the larger dogs seemed very cliquey with each other and were too busy talking to watch their dogs . At one point this lady's dog snuck in while another patron entered the small dog area. The dog was running wild and stole my dogs toy and brought it to the large dog section. The owner got mad at me and gave me a dirty look . Then whenever I tried to close the gate to keep the large and small dogs separate someone from the clique would open it do their dogs can have more space to play . Plus the woodchips on the ground were hard for my dog to walk on and looked dirty. Will not be returning , felt like I was in high school all over again . read more

Took our new pup to this dog park today based on the reviews here on Yelp. We live in the Bronx but it's right across the Whitestone Bridge and a little bit more...beats paying for parking in Manhattan just to take him to a decent dog park. There was plenty of parking (free) so that alone made it a winner. The park area was big enough. Bigger run for the bigger dogs and smaller area for the little dogs. The pet owners there were really nice. One lady even helped our 8-month old pitbull puppy with her own older dog. Our pup was way too excited and to those that didn't know dogs might've thought he was out to attack. The nice lady's dog put our pup in check and it was all good to go. Balls strewn all over for dogs to play with. Water fountains for owners and their pooches. Overall it was very nice. Everyone was really friendly and there was a bag of bags for picking up after your dog. Definitely going back. read more
