We went to Patriot place for the first time and had never heard of Cupcake Charlie's. We figured who doesn't love a cupcake. Well this place goes beyond a normal cupcake. We got 3 and we wish we got more. My son (8) got the hostess with the mostest. My husband got the Raspberry and I ordered the Lemon. OMG best cupcakes ever. I am glad we don't live near there as I would be eating these every day. The frosting and filling are so delicious. The cake itself is soft and moist. The employee that helped us was nice and friendly she was very knowledgeable with the product. The only thing they need to do is put a label on the box saying their name. Kinda gross and overpriced. These are cupcakes made with cheap ingredients and sold at way too high of a price. The cupcakes are overpoweringly sweet and greasy. In my humble opinion, they are meant for young children who do not know what constitutes *real* food, with high-quality ingredients--in other words, it's for kids who think the epitome of a burger & fries comes from Mickey D's, for example. Bottom line: Save your money, and go to a mom-and-pop cupcake bakery. I can almost guarantee it'll cost the same as a cupcake from Cupcake Charlie's, but without the greasy aftertaste and overpowering, sticky sweetness. read more

I came here after Patriots training camp one day. I was looking for a snack so I decided on a cupcake. They didn't have too much of a variety to choose from. I was going to get a cupcake to eat right away and a couple to bring home until I found out they were $3.29 each. I know they were recently made and they are regular size but $3.29 is still way too expensive. If they were $2 each I would have no problem buying a few of them. Since I didn't want to dumb $10 on cupcakes I decided to just buy one. I got the vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. The frosting was a little too sweet but the cake part was very good. The service was good and the way they get people in and out is very effective and easy. The place itself is small. Beautiful presentation and nice selection of flavors. Overpriced. Cake pops are generically dipped with basic light dip of sprinkles on top...$2 each. I make hand piped and decorated cake pops for $2 but theirs should be $1. The cupcakes have gone down from $3.95 to $2.95. Smart move. Equal amounts of frosting to cupcake... Too much frosting for my liking. Get the cupcakes with infused fillings, if not, you get a generic chocolate or vanilla cupcake with a flavored frosting. The store is clean and smells yummy. I think one cupcake is too rich for one sitting, but that's just my opinion. They're doing a special cupcake deal for valentines day where you can get a dozen cupcakes with a matching chocolate for $40!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? I could by a box of whitmans or Godiva for $10 and maybe twice as many chocolates and I'll make my own cupcakes. Way too overpriced. It's nice for a little treat, but I wouldn't go out of my wAy for these cupcakes. They are moist and they seem to do well, but they are definitely overpriced. YUM! The cupcakes are great, the fact that they have frosting shots is amazing, and the service is friendly and lovely. However, the kicker, the reason for me to even take the time to review.... A few weeks ago I visited Patriot Place in Foxboro to meet up with a friend from Rhode Island. While I was there I noticed a cupcake shop I'd never seen before. Naturally I had to check it out. Cupcake Charlie's has four locations around New England, in Foxboro, Plymouth, Mashpee and Newport. When I walked into the Foxboro location I was immediately greeted with the sweet smell of cookies just coming out of the oven. The case was fully stocked with a range of inviting choices that made it hard for me to choose just a few. Cupcake Charlie's cupcakes have a good balance of cake to frosting. One of the cupcakes we especially enjoyed was the lemon drop, which had both regular frosting and fondant, as well as a little lemon jelly in the middle. I liked Cupcake Charlie's a lot and will definitely visit again when I'm next in the area. I still think Sweet has the best cupcakes, but I would put Cupcake Charlie's on par with any other bakery in the Boston area. read more

My favorite thing about this place is there are so many options. Do you want a cupcake? A cupcake with ice cream? Ice cream? My two friends and I split 6 cupcakes which cost about $4/cupcake. I had the Swiss miss cupcake and the red velvet cupcake. Baby let me tell you! Those things would make you slap the nearest person next to you. They were so darn good. I'm very picky about my red velvet. Being a southern girl, red velvet cake has to be made with cream cheese, buttercream be damned! And don't let me get into going on about the Swiss miss cupcake which was a chocolate cake filled with cream and topped with chocolate layer. My mouth is watering as I type this. I've seen this place at Patriot's Place for a couple of years now but always passed it by. Not again. What a great place with a little something sweet to satisfy just about everyone. They serve not only cupcakes but soft serve ice-cream as well. They also had bite-sized cake pops, dipped cookies, and frosting shots-which are exactly what you'd expect them to be. I noticed they also had a good selection of gluten free offerings. Cant make up your mind on ice-cream or cupcakes? Have both! In addition to a cupcake sunday they have this concoction they call a Cupcake Whirlie. Think DQ Blizzard but with a cupcake. You pick out a cupcake and the flavor of soft serve and they blend them together. Had to try it and it was great. The cupcakes themselves were very good. Decent size, cake was moist and flavorful, and the frosting had great flavor and texture. These are cupcakes that fall into the 'premium' category so expect to be paying $3-4 each. I hate cupcakes. Well, until I had one at Charlie's. The lemon cupcake and the lemon trifle were heavenly. Wonderful frosting (not hard and crusty) and curd (not too sweet or too sour) in the trifle. Wow. Again: I hate cupcakes--but I make an exception for Charlie's. The young women behind the counter were friendly and upbeat despite the cold foggy weather and were kind enough to refer us to a nearby Dunkin Donuts for decaf coffee afterwards. We stayed to eat the cupcakes and went for the decaf coffee afterwards. They do have caffeinated coffee, but it was late afternoon and we don't real coffee at that hour. read more

So I have this 'thing' with my mother. If I see a fancy cupcake place, I call her up and ask her what kind of cupcakes she wants. Well this is exactly what happened the other day when I found myself in Foxboro. The girl asked me what I would like, and I said "hang on, I have to call someone", I then proceeded to call my mother and rattle off all the different varieties of cupcakes they had (which was about 12), and promptly decided which ones, and got off the phone. I then apologized for being 'that girl' and she explained that I was fairly quick, usually people take way too long deciding. I never thought to feel bad for the cupcake girl. There are plenty of cretins in this world that take forever to decide what they want for breakfast, and they only have two choices, never mind the 12 that are displayed here! Obviously the service here was very pleasant, and the atmosphere was cute but small. I would hate to be in here before A game!! There were two tables if I remember correctly, and I honestly wouldn't want to sit in them if it was busy as you would constantly have people bumping up against you that were waiting in line. I ordered the Boston Cream Pie, the Peanut Butter Cup and the Hostess cupcake. Apparently, the peanut butter cup was excellent, but I wouldn't know as my mother ate the whole thing without saving half for me as is per our agreement. But I did try the other two, and aside from a couple of things that I would change that are ever so small, the cake itself was moist, and the flavor was spot on! Cupcakes are decent but when you get an attitude when you order then its not worth it. In my opinion, Cupcake Charlie's has the best cupcakes I have ever tried at an upscale cupcake bakery. I ordered four and they were all beautifully presented. My choice was "Hostess with the Mostess" (I believe it was called). It truly tasted like a Hostess cupcake but ten times better! It was moist and delicious!
