Wow this little hole in the wall is easily missed in the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago! We popped in on a Saturday late morning and the line was out the door. You order at the counter and find a table, or wait for takeout. As busy as it was, I was impressed at their well oiled machine! They had me at freddo cappuccino. Just coming off of a trip to Greece, I was happy to see the freddo on the menu while I was searching for a breakfast/coffee spot near Navy Pier. It's basically a popular Greek iced coffee drink, which is very creamy and foamy and I fell in love with it during my time in Athens. This was within walking distance to my hotel and Navy Pier. Upon walking in, I was delighted to see the hip, open space filled with high top tables and cozy seating areas. The brick, the wood, the whole decor and servicescape is a vibe! I loved it. Customer service was quick and friendly as I ordered a freddo cappuccino and a ham and cheese croissant. I found a nice little cozy spot on a big, cushy chair to enjoy my breakfast. Went here for the first time and loved it!! The chocolate croissant was perfectly flakey and just enough sweetness from the chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. Usually food by Navy Pier is touristy and just basic, but this place was delicious. We came in a huge group, more than 30 people, staggered. I thought it would take a long time for the food to come out, but it came out pretty quick. The burgers are especially good. Their smoothies and drinks were good. very busy when I arrived. we were handed menus and a table number and told to order at front counter then sit down. I tried ordering a coffee drink with baileys or kahlua and I was told that the cafe didn't have those. I thought that was kind of odd. I ordered the avocado wrap and it took about 15 minutes to come out, it was okay. the eggs were runny, I found raisins in my wrap, and there was soo so much avocado I actually got sick from it. I still finished the food because I was so hungry and I removed a large portion of the guacamole. no one coming to check on us. the front staff was rather uninformed and dismissive, the manager was walking around but not interacting with any customers or helping any of the staff. if you want to come here either just get takeout or plan to study or something. it seems to be what they market the ambiance towards even thought it is a very fast paced brunch diner. you self serve your water and get your own salt and pepper, if it was less of a takeout joint I think people would enjoy it more, also if the staff was more attentive and helpful. Great vision but the manager really needs to tighten up ship for customer experience. read more

Said they have the absolute BEST croissant in the city! (I later learned they bake them all in-house!). I love Cupitol! They have come a long way in improving their menu. Earlier, the menu used to be limited but now they have expanded their menu. They now have a long list of coffees, teas and hot chocolate. They also have a log list of cakes and pastries. Their Cortado and Nutella cafe are my favorite. Amongst the pastries, I am a big fan of their almond croissant. They now also have a long list of alcoholic beverages and desserts. I love their mini tarts. The place has a lot of seating. It can get crowded on weekends. They don't have any service per se as you have to go and order at the counter and then go pick up your order once they call your name. Found this place through Yelp and it did not disappoint. The service is quick, efficient and all around great! Staff was welcoming and provided great customer service. The place is busy so finding a place to sit is a bit difficult. I got an iced vanilla latte and it satisfied my craving. I also got the falafel burger and wow!!! After hoping off of the plane we searched a good place to have breakfast and Yelp led us here. Being from out of town, the parking is a nightmare. This is located in the middle of the city so only parking, at least that we could find, was in the garage which cost us $38 alone. Staff wasn't necessarily the friendliest and the girl assisting us had to repeat herself because her volume was very very low. I got the Nutella latte and sticky buns. We waited a solid 20 minutes before ordering our meals and could tell by all the people around that there was something special about this place. However, I likely won't be ordering takeout anymore as they keep running out of things. Before they would just swap something else and that was ok.
