I'd definitely recommend making a stop here if you're in the Owings Mills Metro Center. The food was robust, portion sizing was more than fair, and the flavor takes you into a new world. The owner even came out to speak with us and chat about his life over in India before coming to America. First, I'd like to start with parking. There is a FREE-parking garage across from the entire shopping center so no worries in this department. This day in particular, I was attending an event that didn't serve food, and wanted a bite to eat after. I dropped my things in the car (yes, in the same free garage), and decided to stop here before I drove home. I was greeted by Janet, who allowed me in enter, and see the beautiful art-work displayed in the restaurant, then sat me at my own table with a dim light (perfect in my opinion). We had samosas as well as samosa chat and could not get enough. The Samosa chat was my absolute fave! Lamb Biryani, Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala were all spot on with flavor and spice level as well as portion size. Last night my wife and I went to Curry and Spice bar for a date night dinner. We haven't been to this place in the last 6 months. I noticed something was up when the menu was changed since our last visit. My wife ordered the Shrimp Curry which she said was extremely bland and had no flavor and I ordered Chicken Saag, which tasted like it came from a grocer's freezer. The spinach was straight green with no kinds of seasoning and the rice was not basmati. We both tried adding salt and pepper to our dishes but it did not help at all. I rather for this place to charge me a couple extra dollars to maintain the quality than cut costs and give us food that was inedible. Eh, unfortunately today's order wasn't as good as the previous times I've had the butter chicken. Immediately when I removed the food from the bag I noticed a difference in color of the sauce. I also don't like when restaurants switch up containers because it makes me believe there is a reduction in portion size. I believe the butter chicken was once served in a larger container and now it's served in a small plastic container ($18 per serving). I ordered two servings of butter chicken but my rice was combined in one order. 1. this makes an assumption that both orders will eventually end up in the same place and 2. I ordered for takeout and got the Chicken Tikka Masala (spice level: hot), the lamb samosa, and plain naan. I wondered about how big the portions were, but my entree came out to be a very nice size. The gentleman at the front was very friendly when I came in to pick up my order and the restaurant looked clean and inviting - nice vibe. The samosas were amazing...the only thing is there's a light dusting of seasoning on the outer shell and there was a tad too much which made it a bit salty. The worse Indian food I've had in my life. The chicken tiki Marsala was bright red, not brown like I'm used to and tasted like tomato. The rice must've been at the bottom of the rice cooker cause it was hard as a rock and lumped together. I think the worse part of the whole thing was right at 3 pm they turned the lights off on us! We are snowbirds and haven't been back to Curry and Spice since last November. This was one of our "go to" Indian restaurants. Boy were we disappointed!! The Samosa Chaat was a runny mess of chickpeas. The Tikki marsala and Rogen Josh were watery and tasteless. We asked if there was a new chef or change of management - but were told no. We could only eat a few bites and packed up the rest hoping we could "improve upon it" at home. No wonder that we were the only ones eating in at dinner time. My fiancé was running lunch-time errands in Owings Mills recently, so I did a Yelp search for restaurants with vegetarian options. Most Indian restaurants offer tasty, no-meat options, so when I located Curry and Spice Bar after a Yelp search, I quickly ordered through the app. It took longer to decide exactly what I wanted to try, because the menu is not in English. I literally has to google all of the options for the vegetarian section of the menu. English sub caption would have definitely been appreciated, but it wasn't a huge issue. I had the mulligatawny soup with rice, which was a simple yet flavorful dish. My fiancé, who is a huge fan of spicy foods, had the Dal Makhani. The flavors were very good, but the spice was a bit overwhelming. We also had an order of the Gobi Manchurian to share. It was well seasoned, but they were just a tad bit heavy on the batter. The food is great and authentic, the service is not black American friendly even with a black woman working at the front she's super rude and not patron friendly unless again you're white or south Asia. Wow! Blown away by this place. Let's start with the decor. Very elegant (albeit a little dimly lit) and nice for a date night. Very clean. Staff was super friendly and walked me through some of the things I hadn't tried before at other places. I gotta give them credit too. I asked for it very spicy and they delivered. One bite of each dish and my mouth exploded both with flavor and with heat! I was in heaven. Honestly some of the best Indian food I have had. I ordered lamb samosas, achar (spicy vegetables), garlic naan, bullet naan (spicy green chiles), and curried goat. OMG! Everything was spot on. So delicious! The samosas were rich and flavorful yet with a light crust. Add the chutney and they were fantastic. The bullet naan was delightfully spicy, with just the right amount of chewiness. The garlic naan could have been a little more garlicky, but was still very tasty. The achar was both spicy (hot) and fully spiced with some spices, or combinations at least, that I had never experienced before. Absolutely stellar! There were carrots and artichoke hearts (I think). Beyond that I couldn't tell you what was in it, just that I wanted more! The main dish, the curried goat, was the star of the show though! Rich, super spicy, with the perfect thick curry sauce that I just love. It was nothing short of heavenly. I will caution people that it is not everyone's thing as it is cooked with the bones in, so like most goat dishes, you have to be mindful of the potential for bone pieces in each bite. Yaaaasss! Tried this place out during a girls not out but in. Anywho I got the healthy chicken methi, garlic naan and the mango chutney. Everything was absolutely delicious. My food came with a hot sauce and a sweeter sauce. For some reason, I was under the impression that I would receive vegetables, but there weren't any. Also, I requested that my food have a spice level of medium, but I don't believe that my food had any heat at all. I'd like to try more out if I'm in the area again. read more

I came here close to closing time at 9 pm, when closing time is 10 pm. After asking the owner what time closing was and what time the kitchen closes (he said 9:30 PM), we were quickly seated. My party of 3 ordered the Samosa Chaat, the Devi Chaat (special of the week) Kerala Style Pepper Chicken among a few other dishes. Within ~5 minutes of sitting down, they asked us to order, which we quickly did. The servers seemed frustrated by us arriving so late, although I did ask to confirm if we should order or leave. Sadly, the food was subpar.The samosa chaat was the best item but everything else seemed under spiced. The Kerala Style Pepper Chicken did not taste at all like it should've tasted, according to the person from Kerala that I was eating with. He was initially very excited since this is an item that not often found on the menu and found it disappointing. Another pet-peeve was that the masala tea was watered down! However, I was very disappointed as they rushed us out as soon as possible. We ended up leaving by 9:37, even though closing time was 10:00 PM. It's a beautiful restaurant. From the outside it looks really dark. The inside is beautiful. Loved the music. It was not crowded so we sat down immediately. The food came out fast. The veggie samosas are delicious but they have some seasonings on top that they can leave off next time. Our entrees were very good. Seemed like small portions for the prices. Masala chai was very good. The dessert was not good at all. Beware they don't take it back or take any money off if you don't like a dish. Our food was wonderful, the service was not great. What was initially odd was that we were told the lunch special menu was only by special request after we ordered a ton of food. we found that peculiar and gave us the impression the server was purposely giving us the dinner menu to run our bill up. She was attentive - very attentive and hovered quite a bit. We paid and then sat in the restaurant which had literally no one but us in at 3 pm on a Saturday. The out of no where she turned the lights out. When I asked why it was so dark she said they were on a timer and turned them back on. Then A member of the kitchen staff came out looking at us and shaking his head in our direction as to why we were still there talking, and she in return was carrying on, back to him, shaking her head back and forth excessively and looking at us. It made us all very uncomfortable and we all felt we were unwanted so we got up and left. If they wanted to close at 3 on a Saturday just let us know, enough of the passive aggressiveness already. Despite the amazing food we won't be back. This hostess has been here forever and this isn't the first negative experience with her. Have been going there since they opened but Saturday was a big disappointment. Not only has the menu selection been significantly scaled back but so has the physical menu. The print on it is VERY difficult to read especially for elderly that may not see as well in the low light. Also the serving size is smaller and the deserts no longer listed or suggested. Originally the owners were always present and pleasant but the past few times I have gone almost everything seemed to be fine responsibility of the one waitresses/ hostess from seating everyone to taking and delivering the order. She is pleasant but clearly spread thin which is reducing quality of the experience. I will give them another chance to rethink and return but I have other places to dine. read more

Finally got to try this spot after seeing signs for it near the metro station recently. I decided to order something other than my go to (chicken tikka masala) and went with the Chicken Methi and I'm so glad I did, it was so delicious and flavorful. I had a side of butter naan which was warm and a great compliment to my meal. Service was great and VERY fast. Even after I walked out the front door, one of the employees followed me out to make sure everything was in my bag for my order. A little taste of Indian in Owings Mills, Md! This place is pretty dope and the food is amazing. Happy hour is from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Friday. They also offer non vegetarian and veg favorites with their dinner specials. Highly recommend the Watermelon Ginny cocktail and cheese naan for starters.
