Chicken Tikka Masala Garlic Naan Chicken but

After finishing our sunset cruise at 10pm, we were starving and stumbled upon curry leaf, so we decided to give it a try. Honestly, it was one of the strangest restaurant experiences I've ever had. We ordered an even tipped, but then the man behind the counter, told us to get our own plates, cutlery cups, and water. When the food was ready, we also had to pick it up ourselves. At that point, I was half expecting him to ask me to wash the dishes too. As for the food, it really wasn't great especially if you're Pakistani and know how authentic flavors. Maybe it's appeals more to Americans but for us it definitely wasn't worth the visit. Here's what we got: 2/5 stars-Seeks Kabab (I was expecting more than just one). Could have been at least two vs one for the price we paid. 1/5 stars- garlic naan was not good at alll! 3/5 stars- the chicken biryani was okay nothing special!!! Skip this particular place if you can! Still not sure why I tipped, when I did all the work hahah

I've been to SF 3 times in my life, and 2 of those - I've made it a point to eat here because it's DELICIOUS. Their cheese naan is 10/10, try it, and I always get the Chicken Karahi, and their rice is just perfect. It's a bit of a hole in the wall and it really is all about the food. I'd eat here regularly if I lived in the city.

I finally tried this delicious food. The service was very nice, and in a gorgeous location in the North Beach district of SF. I go the chicken keema w/ potatoes to go. I'd love to try more items on their menu the next time I'm in the area. The food is very spicy btw, wish I love.

Curry Leaf is an Indian and Pakistani restaurant in Russian Hill with flavorful vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The restaurant had indoor seating, good for small groups and you order/pay at the kiosk before your food comes out. The ambiance can be described as casual and the prices are very reasonable. The food is a little sweeter and less spicier than the average Indian restaurant, but the portion sizes are good. The chicken biryani was a good pick and paired well with the chicken karahi. The mushroom keema was also something that was new to me. It was flavorful and was a good pick with the naan.

We ordered to go for this India restaurant. Little overpriced only ordered 3 entrees and 2 garlic naan and chicken tikka masala costed almost $68. Garlic naan was so soggy. Doesn't recommended for to go. They gave you a lot of rice but too little chickens. Masala was over power too spicy. Make sure you tell them mild.

Ordered the Chicken Roll wraps and Mango lassi. Chicken rolls were very good. We ordered it Spicy and it had a nice kick. The sauce is also smoky in flavor which I liked. Paired with the tamarind and green chutney, it was very good. Would definitely recommend.

What would I do without Yelp!!!?? ;P After spending a few days in SF's Fisherman's Wharf area and enjoying meal after meal of seafood, fish n chip and clam chowder, we were craving something different and Yelp! came to rescue! We found Curry Leaf on Columbus Street and it is somewhat a hole in the wall. The restaurant is smaller, but very clean and comfortable, and seats about 20 comfortably. We walked in at about 6:45p and were asked to grab the menus and seat ourselves anywhere, and to walk back up to the cashier to place our order whenever we're ready. By the time we left at 7.30p, the restaurant was 90% full. We opted for a Vegetarian Samosa appetizer (excellent, and nice & spicy!), lamb wrap (really good( with balanced flavor), and a boneless chicken biriyani (very good and offered at a very generous portion!). Everything tasted very good and prices are very reasonable and on the cheaper side. Overall a very pleasant meal and enjoyable dining experience. Thumbs Up!

Open late, reasonably priced, flavorful cuisine. Curry leaf is a gem. While most people order this place on a delivery app- I think hot and fresh Indian food tastes much better than Indian food cooked 45 minutes ago. That being said ambiance here is no frills but it is clean and the service is attentive. You order at the counter and you have to pick up your food when it's ready. I really enjoy the Bengan Bharta, fish tandoori and samosas here. The bharta is one of the best I've ever had. The fish tandoori is a mix of smoky and flavorful. Samosas are soft but pack a punch. The ctm is good but certainly not the best and the sabzi is good but simple. Overall I recommend eating here and it is worth a stop even at 10p on a Saturday. Nothing I've ever eaten here has been below good.

Curry Leaf wasn't even our original dinner spot but when we walked by there was such a flavorful delicious aroma coming from the restaurant that we just had to at least stop by for a snack. I'm suuuuper duper glad that we did stop by and try out some dishes because everything was sooo incredibly flavorful and packed with spices. We got the chicken biryani (so many different spices and packed a lil spicy punch too!). The rice and chicken were both not too dry but the rice was really the star with how delectable it was. We also got the saag dal and it was also very flavorful. The spices are definitely less punchy than in the biryani but it made for a great pairing to the rice. Lentils and spinach were plentiful. There were so many other yummy looking things on the menu that I wished we chose more dishes to try but even then we did not finish the two that we had ordered so portion sizes are solid. Service was quick and easy as you order your food up front and then you pick up at the same counter. The restaurant itself is small/mid sized but still with enough seating. I hope to be able to come back and try more things!

Cute little place in north beach serving tasty indian and pakistani food. You order at the counter and pay when you finish your meal. Lots of water and sauces available for free. We ordered the vegetable pakora, the lamb chops, sag and lentils. The pakora were filled with a mix of potatoes, cauliflower and onions. These were yummy!!! the lamb chops had so much flavor unfortunately they were over cooked. The sag and lentils were excellent!! Prices are so reasonable!!!!

We were hoping for a low-key, laid-back Indian restaurant. I arrived first around five o'clock with my husband joining me a half an hour later. The restaurant was between shifts and seemed quiet with the owner and waitress chatting at the bar. Once my husband arrived we ordered from the young, kind Indian waitress. Our dinner began with the vegetable pakora appetizer. It was freshly fried and accompanied by three sauces creating a different taste experience depending on the chosen sauce. Our main entree was the lamb rogan josh at a medium curry level. The slow cooked lamb had a vibrant red yogurt based thick gravy making the cumin basmati rice, and Himalayan ice tea a great match. I consider our meal filling with nothing to carry home. All this delicious Indian/Nepal inspired dinner for only $40.19. Hard to beat in San Francisco.

It was super savory so it was perfect for naan. Garlic naan was amazing because garlic out of the onion and paneer(cheese) was the best addition to the bread and curry combo. All the naan breads were perfectly made but onion and paneer wasn't outstanding. The lamb saag I would recommend if you like a thick spinach curry Chicken momos were nice and simple chicken dumplings Samosas weren't good because of how dry it was and it didn't have as much flavor even with the side sauces compared to the curry vibe: it had a homey vibe in a nice location of the city. It was clean with a very funny looking water dispenser I'd go again for the goat curry and garlic naan.

Copra is an absolute masterclass in coastal South Indian cuisine that completely recalibrates your palate. The Fillmore space itself is gorgeous--dripping with lush greenery and high-end tropical energy--but the absolute culinary obsession happening on the plates is the real story. We ran through a massive spread, and honestly, the flavor profiles are loud, complex, and unapologetically bold. The Standout Drinks -Jaggery Sour It hits that perfect balance of sweet and tart, with the jaggery giving it a deep, complex molasses-like richness that pairs beautifully with the spice of the food. -Salty City: refreshing and addicting Food hits -Mysore Masala Dosa: My personal favorite of the night. The dosa itself has that elite, perfect crisp-to-chew ratio. Pair it with the tomato and coconut chutneys, a heavy dusting of podi, and that rich onion sambar, and it's pure perfection. -Thayir Vadai Chaat: A total texture bomb and another personal highlight. It's got this incredible contrast between the cool yogurt, sweet date chutney, and the crunch of the Madras mixture and cashews. -Varuval Sea Bass Collar: Absolutely phenomenal. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection under that heavily spiced varuval crust. The karavelli curry it sits in is incredibly rich, and pairing it with the clean, bright snowpea poriyal and basmati rice made it an elite main course. We also dug into the Shrimp Vennai Roast (smothered in a brown butter chili chutney that is pure crack) and the Slow-Cooked Octopus with that sharp jaffna rub and grapefruit. Dessert -Jigarthanda: You must save room for this. The frozen caramel milk bar combined with milk jam, nannari, and the crunch of candied cashews is elite-level dessert engineering. It's sweet, cooling, and the perfect antidote to the spice of the meal. Last but not least, you must try their filtered Indian coffee. It delivers a strong nutty subtle sweet flavor. Service is sharp, fast-paced, and genuinely passionate about the menu. It's vibrant, energetic, and entirely worth every bit of the hype. A shout out to Ser taking care of our group of 6. She helped us make decisions for orders as we were divided in what we want. Lol

At one point, I asked for an extra napkin, and it was carelessly dropped onto one of our dirty plates. We were also asked to clear the table almost immediately after paying to make room for upcoming parties (as is their right, but they could have easily notified us of this earlier so we could plan accordingly - and the service hadn't felt particularly considerate or attentive up to that point). The person who states "This is most likely the best restaurant in the world" has to be beyond sheltered; It's not even the best restaurant in the _neighborhood_. The main thing you must understand: the food is "inspired" by Indian food, but it does _not_ taste like Indian food. I suspect its been intentionally watered down to be palatable to milquetoast palettes. We ordered three small plates and the butter chicken as the main. Chicken Tikka Taco. This was greasy to the touch, with chicken and cheese. The dominate flavor is the cheddar cheese. They were trying to be creative but the ultimate effect was similar to a frozen burrito with cheddar cheese and chile verde. If you eat this, close your eyes and imagine a microwaved, frozen burrito..you'll see what I mean. Tandoori Avocado. This features an avocado that's been warmed and covered in a chili sauce. There's a green hummus and a fried dosa crisp. While it sounds wild, once the flavors are mixed together on the plate...the overall effect is that of a green-goddess salad. It's not bad, but its not mind bending. Octopus Xec Xec. The octopous was was cooked nicely and there was a tomato based sauce. Unlike something you'd find in India, it is _not_ heavy on the spices, or tang, or nuttiness. It's just very _neutral_. Butter Chicken. This was the biggest disappointment. I've never had a butter chicken curry that tasted so close to tomato soup in my life. I've eaten tons of butter chicken in my life, hundreds of Indian restaurants. I cannot imagine this was not an intentional choice...It was extremely disappointing. Also, the choice to use chicken breast was poor. Inevitably you get overcooked, chewy chicken pieces. They must have chosen this because (like Disneyland) sometimes you water things down to make it more popular with less adventurous people. The customers next to us (not Indian) kept slathering it on their rice and saying "I can't believe I didn't use to like Indian food!" -- that told me all I needed to know. BTW the naan is insanely bad. They stretched it very thin and then crisped it to the point that it breaks like a cracker. In what world is naan not pillowy and soft? Personally, I was really disappointed with this experience -- the other reviews on yelp are absolute insanity IMO. I know there's a hype train right now -- but someday people will realize this place is not it.
