On a recent outing to Lambertville we stopped off in Flemington for lunch. Curry Zone had some good older and some newer negative reviews so we stopped in since the negative reviews were mostly about service. Pretty decor, and we were greeted by a friendly woman. We were the only ones there but they seemed to be doing a brisk take out business. We ordered an appetizer which took a 1/2 hour to come out. It was tasty so we figured it was worth the wait. But we waited another 45 minutes for the food to come out. Why didn't we say something, you ask? The woman, nor anyone else, ever appeared again after taking our order. The appetizer had been brought out by a young man who was never to be seen again. Finally the food came out, brought by yet a third person. We ordered tandoori chicken and some sides, and Kashmiri bread. The tandoori chicken won the prize for the driest tandoori chicken we have ever eaten, and we have eaten Indian food all over the world. After another 20 minutes the Kashmiri nan came out. Feh! The rice came out after we were done. When a fourth person came out to give us the bill, he asked how we liked our meal. After telling him the truth, he said he'd take the chicken off the bill. When our charge came back with the chicken still on the bill he assured us he would rectify it afterwards. Spoiler alert - he never did!!! Worst Indian food and experience ever! read more

I've never eaten at Curry Zone before and must say I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The staff was friendly and pleasant. The bread basket was so delicious various flavors that were plain, garlic and onion. We shared the eggplant and lentils and chickpea. We have ordered takeout several times from Curry Zone and each time the food has been excellent-- no longer need to drive to Edison to enjoy Indian dishes. Love the breadth of options for vegetarians. Mild versions available for those new to this cuisine. Try the chef's specials -- you won't be disappointed! I usually try to stay away from bread -- but not at Curry zone -worth the carbs! read more

Had the opportunity to finally dine here, glad we did. Don't let the outside fool you, inside it is beautifully decorated, table linens, nice ambiance. We were greeted right away and seated by Pash. An order of papadam was placed on the table with dipping sauces. We studied the menu and asked a few questions which Pash took the time to thoroughly answer. We ordered entrees of Chcken Karachi-mild and Lamb Bindaloo-spicy, plus an order of naan bread with onions. Everything was delicious, service was great. Will be back again. read more

Unbelievable! This was like a bad movie. We arrived there and there was only one couple at a table and several people waiting for takeout. We were greeted and given the 1st table by the door. Our waiter was busy taking care of take out customers so we scanned the table side placard for the menu. We were given water and Papadam while we selected our meal. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees and bread. While waiting we heard several of the carryout people complaining about the wait. One person had placed their order 1-1/2 hours prior. That was a common theme among them. The person at the counter blamed it on staffing which the service industry is experiencing issues with right now. One customer said if it takes this long you should have let him know. He would have still ordered but wanted to know. The person at the counter blamed it on personnel and the customer shot back that this happens every time. Back to us. After a while we received one appetizer of Samosa and it was decent. 15 minutes later came the appetizer of Coconut Shrimp. We needed the drinks we ordered and some more water and our server was busy in the back and appeasing the people waiting for takeout. Another ten minutes out came one entree being the Tandoori Chicken. At this time we got our own water pitcher and filled our own water glasses. The chicken was good but when I asked for Basmati rice which always comes with an entree, he asked "Oh, you want rice?". Really? Ok, so I asked and it didn't come so I had to ask a second time. It came after the chicken was finished. We were still waiting on the bread, another appetizer, and an entree. After 10 more minutes waiting on an entree of Palak Paneer and the Aloo Paratha, it was taking too long so we asked for the rest to go and the check. The waiter asked if we got the other appetizer and we said no so he took it off the check. The check experience was crazy. He had a card reader he walks around with and shows me the total which seemed high. I asked for the breakdown and I was charged $6 more on 2 items and 8$ on another which is more than the menu stated. He proceeded to tell me they experienced a 20% increase on food and labor and it was posted on the web site. I said I wasn't on the web site and used there table side placard to scan the QR code for the PDF menu. He said that wasn't accurate and will he fixed in 2 days. I said you can't charge ridiculous upcharges without letting the customers know. He said there was a sign near the counter as well but we were at the 1st table when you walk in. He said its also noted on the menu but I said you never brought us any. By the way, he needs to go back to math class because a $10.95 item that he charged $18.95 for is not 20% but a 73% increase. Ripoff and double talk. We were overcharged $20. Oh, and the other couple eating there, the woman saw the check and the same thing happened. They did reduce our bill because I had no intention of paying the highway robbery. So then a very pleasant woman came out of the back and apologized for the delay of the food and heard me dealing with the server. She reiterated the same things he told me. My wife asked if we were on Candid Camera. We told them you have to make customers aware BEFORE they eat rather than after they are finished. Just for reference, this is the notice on their website "ATTN : GUEST NOTICE Due to significant increase in cost of raw materials and labor cost, we're increasing our menu prices. All increase will reflect on your Final Check. Thank you!" Are you kidding, they can charge anything. I don't even think that is legal. I know it's not if their QR code menu has no disclaimer and the prices are posted. Ok, so the wait for food was long, some never came, and we were grossly overcharged. What we had of the food was pretty good. Unless they get their act together they will not be around much longer. And if a small appetizer with 4 small Shrimp went from $10.95 to $18.85, I don't think many people will want to pay that. It seems like the customer is paying for their lack of business skills. I for one will not contribute to eating there as it would take a lot to get them to a decent service level. Read the other reviews. If you want good Indian food, go to Masala Arts which is our usual and a great place but we wanted to try somewhere closer. My first 1 star review read more

I hate to leave a bad review because in the past the food has been great. However tonight we were told 35 minutes to pickup takeout. Waited over an hour and a half. Then as we are paying they mention they were out of something we ordered. Well at this point we aren't waiting any longer. Get the food all the way home (about a 20 minute drive) only to find they didn't give us any rice at all with our order. So sad as we had such high hopes for this restaurant when it came to the area. I've given this place a few attempts and sadly it's not a spot I would recommend. While the food does taste good, the portions are very, very small compared to other Indian Restaurants I have frequented. The food is definitely overpriced for what you get. I stopped in recently and ordered Chicken Tiki Masala and I received tofu tiki masala. They forgot my chicken, but they didn't forget to charge me for chicken instead of tofu. Bait and switch if you ask me. They also take a very long time to cook your food and there is nobody ever in the restaurant when you need them. Skip this spot and look elsewhere. read more

My partner and I had a great experience dining here. The owner (I assume) was so sweet and attentive. She suggested a pakora appetizer that was out of this world. My partner ordered a chicken appetizer that she loved, and we ordered two vegetarian main dishes to share. Unfortunately I didn't love them - they were swimming in ghee and that's all I could taste. And service was slow, but they admitted they were short staffed, and we weren't in a hurry! I'll definitely be back to give the veg dishes another chance; hopefully just an off night. read more

Our party of 4 dined at Divs Curry Zone this past Sat. nite. The food and atmosphere were fine. Divs herself is a lovely woman. As repeat customers, I can even notice the improvement in the service of this relatively new restaurant. However, our checkout experience was terrible. We were handed a bill with an 18% service charge included in the total. Not noticing that, when their hand held payment device prompted us to leave a gratuity, we left an 18% tip. When we noticed the double tipping discrepancy and brought it to their attention, we received nothing but double talk about the high cost of running a restaurant and how eat in service is more expensive than take out. They reiterated that a service charge is not a gratuity, and that the total of 36% we paid above and beyond the food charges was justified. It turns out that their own website menu clearly states that "a party of 4 or more will have 18% gratuity added to the check."  So what they called a "service charge" on the bill in the restaurant was in fact a gratuity on their website menu. To deny this and then ask for another gratuity is beyond deceit. Truly a disgusting business practice. We will not return here, but will instead take our business to Masala Art. read more

My husband picked us up the most delicious take out from here last night. We enjoyed the chili chicken appetizer, tandoori vegetables and palak paneer(this was my favorite). Not only was the food great but I love that you can order and pay online. The staff was happy to bring the food outside when my husband arrived. Can I give less than a star? Worst Indian food I've ever had. The tikka masala was straight up tomato soup with three pieces of cheese. Asked for extra spicy. Zero Spice. I really don't want to be that guy... However they really ruined our Friday night. We went to eat inside at 530, waited until 7 and still didn't have our order yet. Eventually our sons order came out but mine or my wife's never did. We ended up canceling our order and paying just for his. I know they're new, but there were loads of people waiting more than a hour just for takeout. I'm glad they're doing well and getting orders but they have to know service is a just as important. When I saw that an Indian restaurant would be opening in Flemington, to say I was excited would be an understatement. Since moving from Hudson county to Hunterdon 5 years ago, I've been so disappointed at the lack of delicious Indian cuisine in our area. We ordered a small takeout order from Curry Zone last night and it was delicious! The portions were very generous and the flavors were spot on. My husband and I spilt the Palak Paneer, Tikka Masala, and some buttered Naan with basmati rice and loved it. We can't wait to order again, and try out the market! read more

Torn how to rate this place - food was decent, but worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant ever. Super slow, staff extremely rude and not responsive to any of our requests or the obvious need to clear dirty dishes stacking up at our table, etc. It ruined the whole experience of dining there. I have eaten 'in' once and taken out once also. My experience is mixed. the take-out rice portions were ridiculously small, to the point that I needed to make rice at home to complete a meal, I was left wondering what the point of the take-out is. I ordered popadoms, and these were omitted from the order, luckily I picked up on this before accepting the order and popadoms were provided (without condiments), BUT I would recommend checking your order before accepting it. The food quality is good otherwise, not sure why they come up short on the cheapest of items, popadoms, rice and basic condiments? I waited so long for Curry Zone to open and must confess to a huge disappointment for minor items. I will NOT be going back. read more

Ok we love this restaurant. The food is amazing. They are so so generous with their portions (mixed grill specials) and they surprised my son w this cake that was literally the best chocolate cake i ever had surrounded by Indian ice cream. Chicken korma is my favorite but I'm looking forward to trying something new. Its the kind of place that as they are bringing food to another table you say what's that what's that. Their presention is great, the aromas ... just love it. And the owners literally serve you the food and interact with helping you decide. We were there three hours last night. Family friendly, they even put a note w candy on the table with the reservation name to welcome us. And they have an authentic an Indian food market attached w ice cream and all! I totally recommend. The scenario: Saturday night, 6:15 p.m. order was placed, take out order for two. We were operating on a tight schedule food was promised by 7:00. I walk in there's only one table occupied by two people, there are no other people coming or going, I walk up to the counter and asked for our order to which the person behind the counter offered me a seat and said it's not ready yet. There were no other to go orders sitting around and in the half hour further that I had to wait which was a full 30 minutes later than promised not a single soul came in to pick up any food. When I finally got the food home and we opened it everything was overcooked. Dried out, overcooked salmon and chicken dishes. Not sure how this place got as high a rating, I guess it goes to show how deceiving internet ratings can be. The reality on a Saturday night of no one in there but one customer, and no line of take out orders which would at least explain their tardiness, and then to receive the food a full half hour later than promised and way overcooked... That was our reality and we will not be coming back ever. read more

JUST THE FACTS 1. The food is good enough for us to have gone back for a second meal. 2. The Menu states that an 18% Gratuity will be added to all bills for parties of four or more. A Gratuity is the term for a Tip in every other restaurant I have been to. 3. The electronic payment device showed the 18% Gratuity as a Service Charge. 4. The device then asked for a Tip amount. 5. The owners explained that the Service Charge (Gratuity?) is to cover the costs of table service, like "napkins and glasses" It is not a tip, that is additional! 6. The device then calculates the Tip as a percentage of the total bill - food costs and the Gratuity/Service Charge, that is, a tip on the tip. Our total charge, with an 18% Gratuity and an 18% Tip was 39.24% of the food amount billed! 7. We will not be back. read more

I placed an order over the phone at 5:40P for pick up. I was told it would be 45-50 minutes (longer than I expected based on online ordering saying "25 minutes", but fine). Our order was not ready until 7:10P - a full HOUR AND A HALF after the order was placed (and 40 minutes more than was quoted). All the while, waiting, I was told it was "almost ready" or "another 10 minutes". That is ridiculous. I understand being busy, but learn to give an accurate estimate and at least be honest when the food isn't even close to being ready. I would recommend this restaurant to NO ONE. Update: I can not even say the food was worth the wait. In all honesty, it wouldn't even be worth the 25 minutes promised on the online order form. The entire family found the food to lack flavor (it tasted almost watery) and substance (very light on the meat in the dishes). Also, the naan was a perplexing combination of dry, stale, chewy, and underdone. read more

My friend and I ate here to celebrate our birthdays. The service was delightful and the food was wonderful. The staff was extra special. It felt like we were surrounded by good people, never rushed and well cared for. They pay attention to details: hand wipes at the table, clean bathrooms, a hand written birthday greeting with chocolates at our table, and smiles from the entire crew. I've eaten here a few times over the past couple years. The food is average, the service is extremely unpredictable, however the 18% service charge "to cover our extra attention to details for a fine dining experience" is extraordinary. I hardly think that the fancy wine glasses, the hollowed out tomato with a tea light candle in it and the hard candies left on the table warrant an 18% service charge. It's also very unscrupulous to calculate the tip on top of the 18% service charge not to mention you don't see this coming because they use a hand held Clover device. I ended up leaving a 25% tip on top of the 18% service charge due to the fact that I never saw the actual bill before I paid. It's commonplace for restaurants to charge a service fee (typically 3%) these days when you pay with a credit card however I'm not aware of any other restaurant in the area that charges 18%. The only thing that's unclear is if the Curry Zone would charge an 18% service charge if you paid in cash. My assumption is yes but I won't be returning to find out. read more
