Bought my curtains here for my upstairs 2 windows in the hall way, with their help I end up having 4 pieces. Using the leftover fabric to make 2 extra short curtains for my kitchen windows as well. They look absolutely adorable and function well in both places. My purpose was having something upstairs to keep some privacy but does't block the light. They look great. I was wandering inside for quite a while and didn't know Which piece to pick until the sweet lady introduced me this fabric. I like all my curtains a lot and for sure will come back next time. This is absolutely the best place to buy Hunter Douglas shades. I bought Hunter Douglas accordion shades 20 years ago from here and they're still in perfect condition. I just bought Hunter Douglas shades for my kitchen and couldn't be happier with the shades and service. The end caps on the valences shipped were the wrong color from Hunter. Curtain time was very responsive in getting them corrected. Paul, the designer from CurtainTime, helped me pick out the kitchen shades, and he was top notch and spot on. I was looking for curtains for my new place! if you've ever shopped for curtains, it can be frustrating: Your only options are Wal-Mart or Bed Bath & Beyond. Or, this place.... I went in and was stunned - wow! Look at the selection! Hundreds to choose from! I took my time choosing out the ones I liked the best. When I inquired to one of the geriatrics who worked there if they had a particular one in stock. She said "I don't know" and to "follow me". She led me to the basement. I know, sounds scary right? It was. She led me to the area in the basement where they store their stock. Haphazard and senseless, old wooden shelves with mixed up packages of curtains. "It might be here" she gestured. I was stunned. Huh? Do you have the item I asked for or not? It should not be up to the customer to dig through garbage to find what they want! That's YOUR job, grandma!!! When I was back upstairs after finding NOTHING of any worth in the basement, I asked why do they have certain curtains displayed if they don't have it in stock. I got a gruff "Ask the owner." This apartment had a 192inch wide window with a Travis rod hooked to the ceiling. My only answer to obtaining a pleated curtain and hooks, was to go to a specialty curtain store. people were nice at this place BUT, no design eye in the place. I ordered curtains that came out short when pulled back. I asked for pillows that were never made but charged my credit card. I wasn't asked to get charged nor did they follow up with me about the size pillows. Then I asked to send back my fabric and did not say they would charge me for shipping, just went ahead and took that, after they reinbursed me for the pillows that they never made. I had to look at my statement to know they had charged me for pillow. I would never go back. This is a place that is old school and does not think out of the box. Very out dated. read more

I set up an appointment with Ilya, one of the owners and, when I showed up, he was on the phone chatting with a friend and kept me waiting fifteen minutes. I then took some sample cellular shades home to choose a color. When Ilya came to my home to measure for my chosen color shade, he insisted I give him a down payment for 3/4 of the ESTIMATED cost. He told me he had to go back to the store and calculate the exact cost. He ESTIMATED at least $850 for 23" and $1000 for 30" windows including remote. When I told him I wanted an exact price before I gave him any $$, he stormed out and I never heard from him again. Apparently he doesn't need the business. read more

Just moved to Stoneham about two months ago. Saw this place as we explored the downtown area. Stopped in and was surprised by the selection. Picked out some curtains for our bedroom that we liked. Unfortunately, they weren't in stock. The lady working told us that they should be in within 1-2 weeks, so we ordered them. Sadly, that is all the nice things I can write about Curtain time. Since we placed our order 6 weeks ago they no longer return our calls. Anytime we call they take our order information to "look it up" and say they will get back to us. Not once have they gotten back to us. Between myself and my wife we have called and inquired 2-3 times per week, always getting the same run around. My wife even went into the store to just ask for our money back only to be told the worker couldn't do that, the owner had to. Once my wife got the owner on the phone she got the same run around, served with a side of attitude. 5 days later Eli, still waiting for a return call. You'd think these people would want to help / cater to the local clientele, sadly they do not. I will never buy anything from here again, nor recommend anyone I know go here. Customer service is non-existent. Only thing I will use curtain time for is to see product in hand, then I will give my money to someone else that deserves it that carries the same thing. read more

I love this place. I walk in here, and it feels like my own mom and sisters are helping me to decorate. Everyone who works here takes the time to figure out what you need. I didn't really know where to start when I first set out to find curtains for my new home, but the women at Curtain Time walked me through every room and offered suggestions, showed me fabrics, and explained pros and cons of picking certain types of window treatments over others. Just purchased my first house and was in a desperate need of a bath curtain and accessories. I went to a few of the department stores in the area and was shocked by the prices of a decent shower curtain. On my way home from a very unfulfilling search, I saw Curtain Time. I wasn't looking for window curtains but thought, why not. When I showed up, I saw someone locking the door. I ran up and the person opened it up, and introduced himself as the owner. I was in need of vertical blinds for a sliding glass door. Not being a fan of the "traditional" vertical blinds, I called Curtain Time to talk to someone about my options. I spoke to the owner who explained a few kinds to me then invited me to come into the store to show me what he had explained. I told him I was unable to get there until around closing time. He gave me his cell number and said he would still be there & just call when I arrived. I was able to get there just before the store closed. The owner was very patient with me and showed me samples of the different options he had explained over the phone. I ended up wanting the Luminette vertical blinds, which give an almost sheer-like appearance yet provide total privacy. I also wanted white wood blinds for a bedroom. The owner came to my house within two days of my store visit to measure the windows. I expressed my need to have these installed by a certain date. He assured me that would not be a problem and he totally came through for me! All the blinds were installed by my desired date. They look beautiful and work wonderfully. He was also kind enough to hold off on ordering until the tax-free weekend, which saved me a lot of money. I would recommend this store to anyone for their window treatment needs. My skylights look great now with the Hunter Douglas Applause Simplicity E50 - Vintage 3/4" Light Filtering 303. - Tea Biscuit was the perfect color with white walls - it looks just like light, fine linen. Everyone in my building seemed to be using this store. Ilya showed up on time, friendly, professional - showed me all the options, no pressure even though I went for the less expensive set. Simple design - no overly complicated gears or clips or tracks but simple, light weight...there's really nothing to break, come off track or get worn out. The installation was fast and masterful. Even though my skylights aren't perfectly rectangular, you wouldn't know it - the installation was perfect with no weird gaps. Love em. Highly recommended. read more

They're taking transactions down by hand and manually adding in the tax. It takes forever just to buy something a simple as a curtain rod. My wife and I recently bought a new home with absolutely no window treatments. Because we were first-time homeowners, we had no knowledge of what type of curtains or blinds/shades to get. Our project was to get window treatments for roughly two dozen windows, including a large window with a large semi-circular transom window. We brought samples of our rugs and wall colors to the store so that we could properly match the decor with the proper curtains and treatments. When we spotted a few designs that we liked, she arranged for us to bring home window treatment samples so that we could see how they looked in our house. This gave us the reassurance that we needed and confirmed that were making the best decision when it came to making a large purchase. When it came to blinds and shades, Ilya, the owner of Curtain Time, went out of his way to show his expertise. We went with a variety of Hunter Douglas offerings to warm our home. In addition, he came to our house on a number of occasions (at least 3 or 4 times) to ensure that the treatments were measured properly as well as giving us the best guidance on how to properly decorate the various windows. After making our purchases, Ashley and Ilya arranged to have everything professionally installed so that we did not have to worry about getting the beautiful curtains and treatments on the window ourselves. The installer was extremely professional and nice and worked around my busy work schedule to come at a convenient time for us. Curtain Time made sure that all of the window treatments were installed perfectly and that we were happy with how they looked. I could not have been more impressed and pleased with Curtain Time and the very knowledgeable and friendly people that work there. Though it may seem a bit daunting to walk into the store and see the huge selection, the staff are able to work with your budget and personal tastes to help focus the selection to your preferences. Curtain heaven, if you're into that sort of thing. A huge store that sells 95% curtains, 5% shower curtains and bathroom accessories. The staff were extremely helpful in getting my mom into a nice custom-made set of curtains for her condo in Brookline. Extremely competent and nice woman named Monique came down to Coolidge Corner for her and did measurements there, sent a letter with xerox images of valence options, and is overseeing soup-to-nuts installation. My mom's saleslady was named Inge, which is worth a star in itself. I love downtown Stoneham: the theater, restaurants like U Me and Kro-Mel's, old-fashioned places like this you imagine have been ground under by Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware but solider on based on huge selection and great service. You can even go into the little boxing gym down the street and vent for a while. Check it out. read more

I read the not so great reviews and hesitated on trying this place. My grandmother once mentioned it so I went for bathroom curtains and am so glad I did. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and given a tour of the curtains that met my description. The woman (I believe owner) was very kind and very helpful. Before I left, I inquired about the Hunter Douglas shades that they carry. A very nice man from the back (I also believe he is an owner) came out and showed me a demonstration. I am disappointed to read some of these ranting reviews. I have only shopped here a few times. I would say your best bet is to buy off the available product on display. Although everyone's tastes are different if a particular consumer has any, any longer. I chose linen woven cotton with a pick stitch trim and on another occasion bought Battenburg lace. I was satisfied with the product offerings. As with any retailer - buyer beware. If you order something sight unseen or a retailer does not have it readily in stock run, don't walk away. It is harder to find small businesses with some degree of customer service and everyone has an off-day... still not acceptable. I will have to go back and see if something has changed for the negative but I never had a rude sales woman at this shop. read more

In February I visited again and found that the store has a new owner as well as new staff. They were very attentive and helpful. They were very easy going and my experience was a very good one. The past 38 years I have lived two city blocks from this store. They have always been overpriced with mediocre service, but I loved their products. On August 5, 2016 I purchased a few items, and was disappointed that they did not have the shower curtain liner that I needed. I ordered it on that day and had to pay in advance, and paid more than I should. Told the I would receive a call in a week or two, a month passed when I stopped by. They seemed to have forgotten about my order. After FIVE return trips and FOUR MONTHS, I told the presumed owner that I wanted my money back if the product was not available in two days as I had house guests arriving. I received a message that it would arrive in a few days. It did, and it will be the last time that I will darken their door.
