Okay so I went in here because I was hungry and I need some food. The selections were good. However, I ordered a create your own pizza with chicken and bacon.i ordered it to-go which apparently isn't understandable there. After I paid, I was told they don't have chicken but I can have anything else I want. I got another meat and finally got my pizza about 5 minutes later. I just now opened it to find that it is only 3 slices. I paid $11.26 for this which included my $2.95 drink. When I pay that much for pizza I expect more than 3 slices. 3 stars because the food is really good even if it is way too expensive. read more

Ate lunch today at Custom Pie (located off Collins/Campus Park). Loved my grilled Chicken Caesar Panini with potatoes!!! So tasty. Also they have good gelato & sorbetto. They do have wine and beer. Placed an order for delivery through the Yelp application, which was cancelled and refunded without any explanation. I've been ordering from Custom Pie on a regular basis since they opened and never experienced anything like this before. Since the previous owner left, Custom Pie has gone downhill. Food quality and service had been rapidly declining. Sad to say, I'll never order from Custom Pie again. I know for a fact that it will soon close it's doors just like a Custom Melt did. read more

Great tasting pizza! Found this place on Yelp. I love their crumbled sausage pizza! Yum!! The owner was very friendly and and you can tell they take pride in their food. They chat with their customers and want to ensure that your happy with your experience. The kids liked their pizza as well. I would also recommend their Cobb Salad, was plentiful and flavorful. The salad was great and they use real bacon, sliced cherry tomatoes, avocado, cold seasoned chicken and hard boiled eggs. Give this place a try if your in the mood for some tasty grub. read more

YUM! We loved the formaggi pizza with added wood roasted onion. It didn't need onion. The blend of gouda with the usual mozzarella parmesan and just the right amount of garlic made it a strong cheese pizza. (I saw a post about the bottom being soft - you can turn your fork over to make an arch and slide it under your slice to let it air-cool. It keeps the bottom firm!) ~$12 Honorable mention, and almost show-stealer, goes to the roasted brussels sprouts side with pancetta and shaved parmesan. I'm assuming this is a seasonal dish but if you are one of the few that appreciates the brussels sprout, they did it justice. Light on the oil, well seasoned, well cooked, tasty little sprouts... crispy, salty pancetta slices... I'm glad I made myself take some of these little mouthfuls home to enjoy again later. ~$5 Lastly, we split a cup of chocolate gelatto. Perfect end to a wonderful meal. ~2 Everyone working was friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed (drink refills, parm or pepper for the pizza, crushed pepper for the side, etc. But nothing needed to be seasoned and we chose a seat close to the soda fountain so we were good. Wow, I'm really confused. The Fabulous reviews vs. the Reality. Our whole family went to try it, based on the great reviews. We ordered three pizzas to try a couple of their specialties, plus the grilled asparagus. The crust is amazing. Light, crisp at the edges without being burnt, and thin. Here's what we can't get passed: The pizzas are WET. Each was various levels of sopping. Like, when we picked up a piece of the Fungi (mushroom) pizza, the entire top slipped off onto the ceramic plate. Our kids loved the taste of the pepperoni pizza - the edges of the pepperonis were crisp and crunchy and delicious. But wet...liquid and pepperoni grease. All three pizzas tasted great, but we couldn't get past the wetness. When you finish a pizza, and the plate it came on looks like you might have knocked a soda over on it, something isn't right. The owner was very friendly, and came out and talked to us. We told him the taste of everything was very good (the asparagus was delicious, roasted and just the right salt & lemon), but asked him why the pizzas were so...wet. He said it's a balance between high temp and how long it's cooked. If it's cooked more slowly at a lower temp, the liquid evaporates. He apologized, and said next time we should bring it back up and they'd do it again. So, to be fair, and because the ingredients were clearly so fresh and tasted good, we'll try it again in the future. Hopefully, they'll figure out if the sauce is too thin, or what. read more

It's all about the pizza and this place delivers. The crust is thin yet fluffy and the sauce is sweet yet zesty. The cheese is gooey and the toppings were fresh. We ordered the El Diablo and Pepperoni. Both of the pizza's were generally very good, but not great. I think the main issue is the pizza feels relatively small for $15. We also had the wedge salad which was good, but not great and at $9 felt a little steep for what you get. I spoke with the owner Phil and he seemed very cordial and down to earth. All in all, this is definitely better than all the franchise pizza's so if you are looking for quality over quantity then this place delivers. read more

Since the new ownership took over this place has gone down hill. Not very friendly and they are struggling getting your order correct. My most recent take out order I got the wrong pizza and the caprese salad didn't have cheese or tomato, just a bucket of arugula. Very disappointing when you get home and your take out order is not what you ordered. My previous order I place on-line and received a text that it would be ready at 7:10. They called me at 7:00 and asked why I didn't pick up my order as they close at 7:00. The owner then went on to argue with me as it was my fault. The owner is very friendly, and the service is always fast and attentive. Standouts are the brussel sprout/bacon pizza and the tiramisu. I do not usually like tiramisu, but our waitress insisted we try the owner's recipe. It was awesome, and I now stop by occasionally to pick it up to take when visiting friends. I really want to give this place five stars, but the pizza is still inconsistent, depending on who's cooking. I have brought many a friend with me to try and impress them (also because there aren't many options out that way), and some love it, while others are just blah. The reason being: the pizza is always different every time I go. I've had some AMAZING pies and some that were soggy with too much olive oil gathering in the middle. I continue to go there with gusto. I would recommend if it doesn't WOW you the first time, give it another chance. There might be a different person manning the oven. read more

We were quite disappointed. We heard great things about this restaurant. The food is definitely unique. Too spicy for me, but my family enjoyed the pizza and the buffalo chicken sandwich. The service was the problem. First, the wrong pizza was delivered but was immediately switched with the correct pizza. The problem was one meal was never served. We had discussed this one meal in depth with the server because it needed to be Vegan, but apparently it was never ordered. So, 3 of us had finished our meals before the forgotten meal even arrived. The server then said "I got you" so we assumed the meal was comped. Though, as we were leaving, the chef stopped us and asked us to pay for the meal. It was only spaghetti with no meatballs; a relatively inexpensive meal in general. We were stunned but felt we had no other choice. Fortunately, my Aunt threw a polite fit and got us a 50% discount on that one meal. But, she was annoyed so she went and took the tip off the table. Well, to put it lightly... I am obsessed! I do not usually write reviews on Yelp but I just could not just pass this one up. Custom Pie is where it's at. Excellent pizza, the best I have ever had in California. I grew up in Jersey and have been searching for a pizza that comes close to that classic, Italian, homemade, east coast tasting pizza I grew up on and Custom Pie hit the nail on the head. Beside the amazing pizza the staff is great! On our way out the chef was making a practice dish for dinner that evening and let my boyfriend and I taste it. It was amazing! The owner/manager checked on all the guest while we were there. He runs custom pie and custom melt wonderfully. Totally impressed with the whole ordeal. Custom Pie... When I first saw the name on the plaza sign, I thought I would stop in and pick up a nice coconut creme or Dutch apple. Then my wife says: "No! Pizza Pie!" OK - I get it now. We finally decided to try this place out, which is located in the retail center at the corner of Collins and Campus Park. When we first entered, the lights were so dim, we weren't sure at first if they were open, but were warmly greeted and welcomed in by the staff. On this note, I have to give a big kudos to ALL of the staff here. They were practically falling over themselves to serve us and make themselves available to satisfy our every whim. Simply the best service ever. If only all retail establishments were like this! Our next step was deciding what to eat. The menu offers lots of very carefully designed and matched pizzas, salads and other items. Unfortunately not being a native Italian, we couldn't understand half of what was written. However, not to fear... The excellent staff sensed our confusion and immediately stepped up to interpret for us, telling us that EVO is extra virgin olive oil and burrata was cheese. And while almost every single menu item contained garlic, which unfortunately doesn't agree with me, they politely informed us that it can be omitted easily enough. Once our pies arrived, we were surprised to learn that their 9" pizza was actually 12" in diameter. (Yep, we measured.) And likewise, their 12" pizza was around 15" in diameter. So you actually get a larger portion than you bargain for. And the taste? Well, that was perfection! Custom Pie immediately leaps to the top of our pizza list! It was simply amazing! Not cheap - but amazing! If I was forced to ding them for anything, which is almost impossible, it would only be for perhaps a little more light in this dimly lit facility. That's about it, and hardly worth mentioning. As Arnold said so well: "I'll be back!" - But unlike the scary robot from the future, it won't be to terminate everyone. I was really craving pizza tonight and couldn't decide where to go; just knew I wasn't driving into the valley.... Toppers? Meh. Chi chis? Meh. Turned to yelp and found this place. I just got a plain pepperoni pizza and my boyfriend got the buffalo chicken... I decided to go plain just to play it safe. Food came out fairly quick and upon my first bite I knew I would be coming back. Next time I go I will definitely try one of the other pizzas they had a pretty good selection and my boyfriends was daaaankies. The owner was also very sweet!
