I reached Mirako Spa in Brea for my facial appointment exactly 3 mins late. A lady who told me that…read moremy appointment was at 2:30pm. (I have attached text messages that my appointment was at 2:45pm). Upon showing the text message, she agreed that I was late by 3 mins. (+ 5 mins grace period). I was informed right away that I need to reschedule as I was late or cut down my facial time from 60mins to 40 mins. I should have arrived 15 mins before the appointment time. Therefore, my showing up delayed by 3 mins would delay the next client by 15 mins as they needed time to prepare for the next client! Math doesn't add up any way we look at it unless they had informed in advance to show up 15 mins before the appointment time, which they hadn't. 1. There was absolutely no notification or instruction provided to me about arriving 15 mins early before the appointment time at the time of making my appointment or text reminder. Therefore if one is late by less than. 10 mins, they lose their facial time by 20mins and are lashed out if clients try to reason out. I was told me to depart as I was 3 mins late or reduce my facial time by 20 mins. 2. Jenny, who came over from inside took over the conversation, was very unprofessional and rude. She argued with me for 15 mins non-stop when I tried to reason out that if I was late by 3 mins, if they wanted to be a stickler of time without informing me to arrive 15 mins early, they should take away 3 mins of my time not, 20 mins. She yelled at me saying "I don't want you to come here ever, I never want to give you service!". I don't understand how Mirako Spa even employs such people who are clueless about how to treat clients with courtesy, let alone working in a service industry. Here is the twist: when I checked in, another lady besides Jenny told me that my appointment was at 2:30pm, which their mistake to begin with as my appointment was at 2:45pm. It appears that they messed up with their own scheduling but because I was 3 mins late for my 2:45 appt, I bore the brunt of Jenny's unprofessional behavior as she couldn't admit that they had accidentally messed up scheduling my appointment. Instead she told me to leave or get a facial cut down by 20mins! I am attaching screenshots of my appointment time. As per Jenny, I should have a common sense to show up 15 mins before appointment time even though I wasn't informed about arriving early or else, appt that was anyway scheduled incorrectly by 15 mins sooner, from what I was notified. Try to avoid Jenny if you go to Mirako Spa in Brea, she can be scathing, unreasonable, and unprofessional. Try to reach 15 mins prior to your appointment even if they don't notify you.

I received a text coupon from the salon for 15% off any service. My regular manicure and pedicure started off just fine. When I was asked to pay before getting my manicure, I mentioned that I had the coupon. The owner was there, Martha consulted with her, and they asked to see the text to verify the offer--which was completely reasonable. What happened next was not. While I was getting my manicure, Martha was openly discussing the coupon with the owner and another stylist in Vietnamese. The conversation was about how the service wasn't worth her time at 15% off, who was going to absorb the discount, how much she would take home, and how it would be entered into their iPad. She continued making comments about how I "only tip 15%" and that I "sit for hours." First, my tip should not be a topic of discussion among employees while I'm sitting right there. Second, I had just received a manicure and was sitting for approximately 20 minutes afterward to allow my nails to dry before leaving. That is hardly unreasonable. Today, after sitting for about 17 minutes following my manicure ( I was sure to time it), the hairstylist made another comment: "Wow, she sits so long." At that point, I packed up my things. As I walked out, with my 15% tip on the table, the owner said, "Thank you, have a good day." I responded, "I didn't realize it was such a problem to let my nails dry before I leave. I understood everything you guys said." Apparently, sitting for 20 minutes to let a manicure dry is too much to ask. Martha also brought up a comment I had made previously about a price increase. Yes, I did make a comment--and I think it's completely reasonable to be surprised when you are told after your services are completed that the price has increased. Why wasn't the price change communicated when I made the appointment or when I arrived? I wasn't objecting to the increase; I was surprised by the lack of communication. Customers should know the price of a service before it is performed so they can make an informed decision. What bothered me most was being made to feel like I was inconveniencing the salon by using a coupon they themselves sent me. If the salon doesn't want to honor a promotion, they shouldn't send it to customers. I've supported this business for years, but customers deserve to be able to use a legitimate promotion without being made to feel guilty about it--and they certainly deserve to sit quietly while their nails dry without being discussed by the staff. There are plenty of other salons where I can spend my hard-earned money and feel welcomed and respected and you should do the same!

At no point before beginning the service was I asked whether I agreed to this additional charge. When I questioned why I had not been informed or given the option to approve the charge beforehand, my concern was essentially ignored. What was especially concerning was that the owner was present and witnessed the interaction but did not step in or address the situation. The overall experience was extremely disorganized and unprofessional, from the appointment check-in to the communication surrounding the service and unexpected charge. I am currently escalating this through the appropriate channels. I also wish I had looked into the reviews more carefully beforehand. There are already multiple people discussing their experiences with this establishment online, including on TikTok. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way. Businesses should not be charging customers unexpected fees after a service has been completed without clearly disclosing and receiving approval for those charges beforehand. I hope the owner takes this seriously and addresses the way customers are being treated. Luckily my situation is being escalated and classpass is investigating.

Now I said fine because I'm not that confrontational but I should have been because my nails were already short so they didn't have that much room to file all of the dirt off. Why not just clean it ! I still have the patch of dirt and glue on my natural nails with a bright red gel nail polish on top. The builder gel is bumpy when I pointed it out. He said that he would file. It's still bumpy. I just feel like they did not want to put any effort like completely ignoring what I was saying.
