We came twice during our weekend trip, once for happy hour and another time for lunch service. Heather took great care of us during happy hour, despite being so busy! The ahi tacos and crab dip were fabulous. James was so patient and attentive which was so appreciated as we brought our elderly companions for lunch service the following day. The new light rail service from the Eastside opens up a whole bunch of dining opportunities that were too inconvenient prior. Cutters is back in the playlist, and I returned for the first time in years, you can't recreate that view on the Eastside. First up, a heads up. It's a corporate restaurant, the waiter's are all schooled in the art of upselling. Just relax and let them do their routine, they are required to so don't get upset. We had some Landry's credits that were about to expire, so we decided to give Cutters Crabhouse a try. While waiting at the hostess stand, we were greeted by the bar-area server -- he was great. The hostess was also pleasant and personable. Shortly after we were seated, our server came over. He was nice, though quiet and reserved. We started with the Little Gem Wedge Salad. While I prefer a more traditional wedge, the homemade blue cheese dressing was phenomenal. I ordered the Fish and Chips -- unfortunately, it was a miss. Some of the worst I've ever had. When I broke open the fish, water trickled out, which was a pretty clear indication it wasn't fresh. My first red flag should have been that the menu didn't list the type of fish. The beer batter was overcooked, and the oil tasted old. My dining partner had the Dungeness crab and shrimp fettuccine and said it was great. As we were leaving, the bar-area server thanked us for coming in and asked if we needed parking validated -- which we appreciated, since our server had forgotten. Parking isn't fully validated, but you do get a 50% off sticker. Overall, Cutters was a one-and-done for us. We both agreed it's not worth a return visit. read more

Great views, excellent service, varied menu and they are flexible about substitutions and special requests. Cocktails were full strength and corkage service was spot on, complete with decanter and ice bucket. Filets were properly prepared and nice cuts, but the king crab is the star of the show. The only negative was the kitchen does not serve it ready to eat, so patrons have to cut and crack it table side, which is a bit ridiculous given it's $125 a pound. I am so happy we came here. We did have to wait 10 minutes for the hostess to show up. The people behind us left and we almost did too but glad we stuck it out. Ethan was our server and was absolutely wonderful. We also got to sit in the window with a view which added a magical touch to our celebrations. We got the Thai mussels, kids butter pasta, oysters and Whole Dungeness Crab. We had informed Ethan of our toddlers allergies and him and the staff took them seriously. I was really impressed. Really friendly service but sadly the food was not that good or fresh. Although we enjoyed the raw oysters and the mussels which came in a tasty curry sauce, the rest was largely a miss. The crab was not fresh and did not taste good, so it was sad to waste as much money as we did on it. For sides, we got mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, which were meh - nothing to write home about. The caesar salad was fine also. Our family dined here for Thanksgiving which only had the three course set menu option at $59 per person. Three of us ordered the surf n turf and sake Chilean sea bass. The sea bass was pretty good, but too salty. I was very disappointed with my steak bc it was not served hot or warm. It was pretty much at room temperature. It was cooked to medium rare, which I asked for, but you can tell the steak has been sitting on the counter for quite awhile before it was served. My fig salad was good, but I wished it had more fig to it. The best part of the meal was the dessert: crème brûlée was excellent. Service was decent. For $59, I had higher expectations. read more

Nothing went well for my entire table (food/service), which was disappointing because the concierge at my hotel highly recommended it. We went back and informed the concierge about our experience, and they called the management. My mom and I were blown away by out Cutters experience. I have seen this place for years, but never walked in because I always thought that it was a super high end place like it's neighbor Aerlume. We came in for lunch one day and it happened to be Seattle Restaurant Week I believe. So many wonderful things we had. The bread they serve is hot, soft and pillowy, slathered in a foamy garlic butter. The clam chowder was perfect. Not one rubbery clam in sight. We got two entrees and shared. Mom and I both agreed that the crab stuffed sole was the star. A stellar dish in presentation, execution, and taste. The grilled veggies were addicting. The salmon pesto pasta was our least favorite. The pesto was very light, salmon was tender and not overcooked, but unfortunately, the whole dish was really greasy. Easy on the oil chef! We normally don't do dessert, but it was apart of the deal we go so we had the key lime pie and boy was it a treat. Buttery graham cracker crust, light and airy key lime. This was a hit. We received wonderful service from Ethan. He was very kind, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave great suggestions. Guess what? He's also the bartender! We stayed for happy hour and Ethan made my delicious prickly pear margarita. I had 2. Along with the great food and service, the space looks great. Very classy and contemporary decor. Cocktails: Amalfi stroll was nice and herby, easy to drink. The Effervesce was an odd mix of herby and sweet. We also had two glasses of the Zenato Pinot Grigio, which was crisp and refreshing. We loaded up on appetizers and ordered a small dish as well. The rundown. - Mushroom bruschetta. This is basically a nice garlic toast with sautéed mushrooms and a sprinkle of Parmesan. The $6 HH price is appropriate.. - Grilled asparagus. Because we needed something green... simply grilled and tasty. Not on the HH menu and a tad expensive at $12. - Sashimi Ahi Tacos. Using a won ton wrapper for the shell is genius! Crispy, stuffed full of fish, and well balanced flavor. We ordered a second round of these; they're that good. - Yellow fin tuna roll. These were a little confusing, but they're large and flavorful. - Burrata amd prosciutto. Also not on the HH menu, but I love a good burrata and could t resist. So worth it at just under $20. Large (shareable) plate with grilled bread (enjoyed that it's soft on one side and grilled in the other), generous amount of prosciutto (no squabbles with companion necessary), decently sized burrata (could have been a tad more at room temp), and a dollop of olive tapenade (unctuous) and cherry compote. I'd get this again. Service was pleasant. Upon hearing it was a shared birthday celebration, they brought us a complimentary slice of chocolate cake. My partner and I have eaten here every year on Valentine's Day, but this one might be the last. On Valentine's Day, a 3-course meal is offered, which we both chose. She chose the fish option and I the filet (having seen other tables with filets that looked pretty good). Entrees arrived with her fish looking and tasting pretty good. Where my "filet" was flat (1/2" maybe) and hard to chew. Not my definition of a filet. Also, in years past, the lady was given a rose upon entry. They were missing this year. I love the location of this restaurant. It's on the water and most of the seats have a great view. The decor is simple and appropriate, skewing slightly upscale. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. He didn't rush our decisions. He knew a TON about the menu, including the wine! The food is where I struggled. The menu is amazing and I wanted to try a lot of things. Our appetizers were great, but everyone at our table of six felt their dish was overcooked. At the price point we paid (my crab sampler was $92), that should not have happened. We didn't say anything, which is on us. However, we shouldn't have to at that caliber of a restaurant. Lunchbox special for $25 is a great deal! First choice is chowder or salad, and the salads are huge with nice strong Caesar or blue cheese flavor. For the second choice one person on my table had the blackened fish tacos that are good portions of fish and avocados with fries, and another had the salmon pesto that came with lots of fish chunks. I opted for a cup of chowder that was bowl-sized and chock full of clams, though I wish the soup was thicker and creamier. Then I had the crab cake which was also a generous size of crab on top of tasty corn, really delicious and satisfying. Can't speak to the food but stopped in here for happy hour drinks and was not dissapointed. We were greeted by Nicole, who I assume was the manager, super friendly and welcoming. Our bartender, Thomas, made excellent drinks and gave us great suggestions around Seattle. He was very attentive and personable. The happy hour menu has 6 cocktails total and we tried 3, all were excellent. Old fashioned was nicely balanced, not bitter like some. Prickly pear margarita was a nice combo of sweet and spicy. The effervescence is a cocktail made with Prosecco and elderflower giving it floral notes with a nice sparkling refreshing taste. The ambiance is nice and chill, located off the Eliot Bay there is some nice views of the water front. We sat at the har so didn't get the full view experience, but plenty tables with scenic windows are available. Music is nice and chill relaxing and modern. My husband and I went there for an early dinner tonight. The restaurant was still very empty. We had two servers, Ethan and Thomas tending to our table they were second to none. We ordered the mussels on a Thai sauce for appetizers that was just perfect. The sauce was so good that I could spoon it down. For main course I had pasta with shy and dangeness crab. I requested to have my fettuccine sauce mixed with the Thai sauce. It was perfect. My husband had a King salmon to melt in the mouth. Just a wonderful way to leave town.
