This was our first time in to Shuckers Oyster bar and we were celebrating a birthday and it did not disappoint!! The waiter we had has a calm welcoming presence that made us feel right at home. He was attentive the entire night and made for a great experience.We had a table right in the front window a great place to watch people and the city go by as you enjoy your night. Everything is extremely fresh! The raw oysters were extremely fresh being from the local area and each variety had a unique flavor and they did a good job explaining what we were getting. The clams were light and fresh making for a great appetizer. The halibut was cooked amazingly was the best piece of fish I've had in a long long time! A very classy restaurant with small outdoor seating area , and it located inside the fairmont olympic hotel. And this is my second visit , and would like to explore more food here. Came in on time for 5:30 pm reservation, greeted and lead to the seat. Inside it is really dimming light, old fashion restaurant set up. Service wise, no complaints, especially like the oyster recommendation the waiter provided. Totally 5 star towards the three flavors baked oysters, fresh, juicy and flavorful -- 5 star on it. The clam chowder is ok, the soup and ingredients separated after 10 mins consumption. Good with in house bread, ordered half ( $3 bucks) . 2-3 stars. The Apple crumble dessert , loaded with sugar and at a level that dessert cravings put off sadly, and I have to continue to drink water to take a small bite. Not recommended! Visited in 2010 and looked forward to coming back again one day. Today's the day! We went for happy hour. Oysters were $2 each, ordered 38! Also had the Dungeness crab cakes with a couple of Forbidden Love cocktails. Oysters were so good, we just kept ordering them. The Dungeness crab cakes were probably the most delicious crab cakes we have ever had. The Forbidden Love was a refreshing drink. Loved the balance of flavors. Service was excellent. Rishi was personable and very helpful. The space has the wonderful old wood walls, carvings and nooks from the haberdashery from the 1930...so cool. This place deserves a better rating than 4.1. A colleague and I enjoyed this place, reminiscent of a classic old school looking restaurant that you might see in DC or NYC. We started with the fresh local oysters on the half shell. One kind was so buttery and especially good! We both had the classic Caesar, one with shrimp, one with chicken. They were excellent and had the perfect amount of dressing a crunch, homemade croutons. My shrimp were a wee tad overdone, but barely. Good martinis per my friend. I wish there had been more wine options, but I had a nice Syrah. Service was friendly and personable. They checked on us regularly. My friend couldn't seem to get ice until maybe the 3rd go around, but did get it and my special request for no ice in my water was accomodated. I really want to like Shuckers. It has so much I genuinely like from the ambiance to the food selection. It has an upscale pub vibe, a little moody, darker wood tones, warm lighting that made it feel intimate. An intimacy immediately shattered with how amazingly loud the restaurant became. I sat on an uncomfortable bench seat at the end of the table unable to hear every other word from the person sitting two seats down. The people seated beyond that were impossible to hear. It was a miserable atmosphere for a group dinner. I ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp and was surprised for $27 how small the salad was. More confusedly I stared at my co-worker's Shucker's salad with chicken and it was noticeably larger in portion size for a similar price point. It also was a very basic Caesar salad. I've been to restaurants where the Caesar salad was bright and peppery while this reminded me more of a side salad - minimum effort. Not that I object but I won't repeat for $27. The winner of the table was my co-worker's choice of lobster campanella, which several people snuck bites from. I did not, but noted everyone gushed on the campanella over everything else which included the fish and chips, risotto, and the steak. Better luck next time for me. read more

During our conference weekend in Seattle, a group of us decided to grab dinner at Shuckers Oyster Bar--and let me just say, it was one of the highlights of the trip. From start to finish, the experience was top-tier. We were lucky enough to be greeted by Mama, our hostess, who truly lives up to the name. Warm, funny, and in full command of the room, she made us feel like we were home--even with our large party. She told us she's only been there three years, but you'd SWEAR she runs the place. If you go, ask for her. Seriously. Darla, our server, was just as amazing--thoughtful with her recommendations, patient with our indecisiveness (ok... it was really just me), and attentive all night. We ordered a little bit of everything (because... why not?). Someone at the table had to get oysters--it's in the name, after all--and I even tried one for the first time. Shockingly not bad! Super fresh and briny in the best way. I went with the fish and chips and a side of coleslaw. The fish? Perfectly cooked and flaky. The fries? Meh, they were alright. But that didn't even matter because the vibe, the food, and the company were all hitting. 10/10 would recommend. If you find yourself at Shuckers, do me a favor--say hi to Mama and show her this review. Ask her if she remembers the big group of educators who left full and happy. I bet she will. Out first visit was excellent. We had our food nicely packaged with silverware, cloth napkins, and gluten free modifications. Our meal felt special. This second visit was a flop. For an 18% surcharge, for takeout--because I'm a hotel guest, I'd assume I'd at least get a cloth napkin and silverware, not some flimsy plastic utensils. The meal was lackluster. This was my first time not enjoying cioppino. I asked for gluten free bread with my cioppino. The man taking my order nodded yes, but then forgot to add it to the bag. Shuckers is a beautiful, cozy, wood-panelled oyster bar in the Fairmont hotel. The ambience and aesthetic were wonderful. Service here is great. Our server was phenomenal and made sure we had everything we needed. The menu is limited for vegetarians. There is only one vegetarian option (mushroom risotto), which was sold out when I visited. Our server was able to work with the chef to throw together a pasta dish for me. It was nothing phenomenal, but I appreciated them trying to be accommodating. The clams were a good combo of sweet clams in a perfectly salty broth with 3 pieces of grilled bread. Later in the evening, I got the black and blue pie with the sour cream ice cream. Honestly, I got it to try the ice cream and it didn't disappoint. It was tangy like frozen yogurt. Only pictures I remembered to take were the dessert. The oysters were fresh, local, and delicious -- and the wait staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the sourcing and preparation, which made the experience even better. Shuckers was my favourite place out of all the meals I had on my recent Seattle trip. Everything was delicious. They have a rotating fresh sheet and scallops were recommended by the server that night and they did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked and seasoned and they were about 1.5in in diameter. The fish came with 4 and was just under $50. The mash potatoes were perfectly creamy and I dare say one of the best and most memorable dishes I have ever had. So for the staple, fresh oysters, they were fresh but sizes were small. At that price point, I wouldn't order them. Also the Manila clams were excellent but you can get something similar elsewhere. The prawn cocktail was amazing. The prawn looked like king prawn and very fresh tasting. The calamari was unique and not deep fried. The broth was a bit spicy and amazing. I chose to dip the bread in that over the broth that came with the clams. Another star of the night was the fish and chips. Probably one of the best I've had. The fish was crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The shoestring fries were so crispy. This is a pricey place but worth it for a memorable meal. read more

We did the prefix menu and planned to share it with my 8yo knowing he wouldn't finish his own. The server ended up giving him complimentary child portions of everything aside from the entree. So kind! This review is long overdue and have forgotten the specifics of what we ate. Here's what I recall: Starters: clam chowder and wild rice salad. Both delicious. Clam chowder was the perfect consistency. Salad was unique and the right amount of savory and a tad earthy. Table bread was good (and warm) and I had to stop myself so I wouldn't get full from it. Entree: Prime rib. I asked for medium rare and it was cooked correctly. The sides (green beans and mashed potatoes) were cooked well and accompanied the prime rib. Basic sides that they didn't over complicate. Dessert: Crème brulee with a ginger snap cookie. So delicious! Server brought my mom complimentary cup of coffee. Check this place out. We made reservations online beforehand and I would recommend you do the same because it can get pretty busy during rush hour. This place has an old-school vibe to it with its decor. I ordered the salmon ($44) and we also got a dozen oysters ($44) to share. The oysters were good and I really liked the cocktail sauce but not all of them were the same size so some were way meatier than others. The salmon was good and I liked the skin. I liked the mashed potatoes but the green beans were just okay. The portions were pretty small and it was only a small piece of salmon and wasn't super filling. For drinks I ordered the black manhattan ($17) which was very strong and good. The server asked if we wanted bread and we said yes. We assumed it was complimentary but we found out when we got the check that it was $5 per person ($10 total for one small loaf of bread). I was not a fan of the shadiness of them adding that to our bill without telling us, and if we had known it was not free we probably wouldn't have gotten it. Overall I was expecting great food with the higher prices but it was closer to average. On top of that the bread situation felt very slimy and left a bad taste in my mouth. read more
