I've been to Goldfinch Tavern over 5-6 times in the past few years for every meal. This was probably the best dinner I've had in awhile. Service: 3/5. Our main server was not the best tbh. Disappeared for part of the time, no warmth/emotion and almost seemed unhappy to be there. Would have hoped for a bit more at such a nice restaurant. Conversely, the busser was lovely and made up for some of what she was lacking. Atmosphere: The restaurant is going through a remodel is half of the space is walled off. Makes the dining room a bit darker than usual but it was full and lively for a Monday evening. Food: Starters: We ordered a couple of starters to share and individual entrees for a table of 4. Prosciutto and Burrata was standard, although the cured meat was difficult to separate and serve cleanly. Penn Cove Mussels were delicious, tried to sop up all that remaining broth with bread service. Entrees: All looked good and were finished by all of us - I ordered the special with Scallops and it was outstanding, my plate was completely clean as I finished all of it. Dessert: All of us ordered ice cream. The Chai Masala was outstanding, Pistachio was average. Overall a great meal, with some opportunity for the main waitstaff but otherwise the view, ambience and food were excellent. read more

Visited the restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle today. Our server Sarah was kind and attentive, but it was clear she had no power to actually fix issues. We ordered drinks, wings, burgers, and fries. The wings were overly salty, the fries were extremely salty, and the burgers were sloppy compared to our first visit. Last time the burgers had a nice charcoal flavor and felt properly cooked. This time they felt rushed and messy. After spending $170+ we decided to mention it to the manager. Unfortunately the response was disappointing. Alex, the manager, simply said he would "let the kitchen know." No effort to address the situation, no curiosity, no service recovery. It felt like I was filing a report instead of giving feedback as a customer. For a place charging Four Seasons prices, you expect Four Seasons hospitality. Sarah did what she could, but management completely missed the moment. Between the food inconsistency, the weak response from management, and the odd layout of the space, I won't be returning. We came here for pre dinner drinks (we went out to have dumplings) and not only were the drinks wonderful and on point, the menu was too tempting not to try a few things. We got Oysters, which were some of the freshest I've ever had, and I'm from a sea side town aka Santa Barbara. They say Seattle has some of the best seafood in the US, and now I believe them. The chowder was delicious and fresh as well. For a hotel restaurant we were happily surprised. Most of the cocktails were great, just a note that the limoncello tasted a little off? I've had it before (and also have been to Italy). I'm not sure what went wrong there. The service however was not great. The hostess was incredibly rude and kept trying to turn us away despite the fact we had a reservation. She claimed she couldn't find it and kept telling us to leave until we showed her the confirmation and then she said ok she would "squeeze us in." Wth? Not at all the service I expect from a 4S. Christmas Dinner 2024 Wow! Our first time participating in Four Season Hotel's Christmas Dinner at GoldFinch Tavern was truly an enlightening experience! It's a HUGE BUFFET of appetizers and salads, you choose your main entree and then enjoy another HUGE dessert buffet! What an incredible opportunity to indulge in the spirit of giving! 3 stars for food, 4 for the fact they have Lush IPA on draft and the friendly waiter. Ambiance was impeccable and felt very distinguished and sophisticated. The designers incorporated heavy felt strips into the hanging decor so as to moderate the restaurant noise. The rigatoni was decent, I liked the juicy sausage but it was still somewhat unremarkable and I wished it was a slightly larger portion. The Caesar salad looked lovely but the taste was flat, no lemon or tang that is characteristic of this types of salad. A highlight was our waiter who made sure we had everything we needed. Prices are high but it's inside a FS, so you can expect this. I would definitely return if ever staying again at this hotel. read more

*UPDATE* Trying to nickel and dime their customers. Pay attention to the blll! Just because we have money to spend doesn't mean it needs to be taken advantage of. It's located inside the Four Seasons. I've ate here before, many years ago and recall the food and drinks being good. Came back for a cocktail before heading off to our dinner plans. 1) wanted to just sit at the bar but the front host said the bar was full but we can have a seat in the lounge area which is a hybrid feel of restaurant and bar. She said to order the drinks at the bar and bring back to table. 2) bar tender gave us the menu at the bar. But also serve dropped off the menu at our table. I had already ordered a cocktail at the bar so when returning to the tables I saw the same drink the menu at least $5 dollars cheaper. I pointed the price difference to the server at the table and he said he would make sure I get charged for the price of the menu on the table - $15 instead of $21 dollars. 3) Receipt came and I was charged the bar menu of $21 dollars for the cocktail + 20% feet + tax.... Where the heck did this 20% fee come from. So a cocktail is going to cost $26.48???!! 4) had the server fix the price of the cocktail. Adjusted it to $5 less. Still expensive for a cocktail that was just ok?! $21.19 before tip. :: ORDER :: BLUSH ($16/hh) - Ketel One Vodka, Strawberry Syrup, St-Germain, Lemon, Dehydrated Strawberries. The general manager Kash reached out to me after my post. Not only did she want to speak to me about my experience, but also offered a full refund. We had a conversation about the experience. She ensured her staff would be properly trained, also reviewed the incident with the team, and asked various questions to see their gaps in knowledge. I have never had such a follow up from a restaurant in my life! If this is their typical level of customer service, I'd recommend giving them a try. First and foremost upon walking in last Friday, the bar was under construction and blocked out by walls. So the ambiance was not what it has been in the past, but it's understandable and the construction was nicely hidden. Just head around to the left and you will see the temporary bar set up. We were seated against the windows and I loved that: The view from the Four Seasons is unbeat. Our server was so friendly and excellent. The pastry chef was amazing! I ordered the Touch of Nature that was plated so beautifully with detail, extremely creative and with varying flavors and textures, it was phenomenal. The food has always felt special and intricately prepared and laid out, but this time it felt more like what I would get at a department store cafe, especially the tiny thin strip of steak that I think was from the kids menu. It was so odd. I love Ethan Stowell's restaurants and Goldfinch has always been a solid special occasion place for me with amazing steaks and seafood. It was rather sad. I don't know what happened. Their weekend brunch is where it's at! My partner and I had a reservation for Sunday morning. We were sat right away and greeted by our waitress within a few minutes. Even with the place being busy before a football game, there was never a lag in service. I went with the $80 bottomless mimosa and 3-course brunch. It was delicious! My mimosa was always kept full and the food came out quickly. The last course was a fun, Halloween themed array of desserts. We had pretty high expectations for this ESR restaurant, as we love and go to Staple & Fancy and Tavolata(s) quite often and Victor Tavern. We were so disappointed in Goldfinch Tavern. The physical location is amazing and beautiful inside, views are spectacular. We thought this was going to be so great once we took a first bite of the tuna tostada, it was an 11 out of 10 so delicious. We couldn't wait for the salad and mains. Salad showed up and it was ehhh pretty average, but not terrible. But then the mains showed up. I ordered the New York Steak and my wife ordered the Black Cod. I have to say, the steak may have been the worst quality and worst prepared steak I've ever had. And of course, my favorite meal is steak, all steak, mostly Ribeye and New York. Remember that old, run down chain Ponderosa? Remember how low quality that was? This reminded me of Ponderosa chain restaurant. Actually Ponderosa's may have been better. I sent the steak plate back and had no interest in a replacement or other main. I would give their New York steak a literal 0. My wife's Cod was average, it was OK. Not what we expected from an ESR main dish. We thought we'd order a desert, bad idea. It was called Sweater Weather. Quite possibly the worst desert, had terrible flavor, terrible texture, my wife had one bite and she tapped out. It looked nice on paper but very poor implementation. I will say the Ahi Tuna Tostada was probably one of the best foods I've ever eaten and their fries were absolutely delicious. We could've (and should've) eaten 5 Ahi Tuna Tostada's and 5 orders of fries. Had we done that, we would have thought this was among the best restaurants in Seattle. But hence we don't think we'd come back for a dinner. Happy Hour for a couple Tostada's and Fries absolutely we'll do that. But never back for a sit down dinner. I loved the Four Season experience and highly recommend the massage service. The restaurant is very Seattle with northwest elements throughout the hotel. Everything was delicious and it seemed like a sampler of the best from the northwest with French and Italian cooking techniques. I won't go into what I ate because I believe the menu may have been seasonal. What I will share is that the quality for the price point matched the delicious flavor profiles. Although I could go to other restaurants a couple blocks away or Lyft it 15 minutes to Capitol Hill, I appreciate the convenience as a local to have everything centralized. I also love Franz chocolates and when I used to drink I enjoyed a salted caramel truffle with a 10 year port as a digestive. Franz is right next to the restaurant and the viewof the Seattle Ferris wheel is breathtaking on a summers night. All of this plays into the Four Season dinner experience. read more

Tonight I ordered the king salmon crudo and free range chicken. In all honesty, I could not finish the salmon; what a weird taste and not fresh. I let this go back and it was taken off the check. The free range chicken was fine but it was such a small portion, less meat than one thigh with a smear of the squash puree and a few figs. I was still hungry. I didn't fall victim to these shenanigans and refused to order dessert. In fact, I went to a McDonald's right after to fill me up. For real. Cocktails were ok...Food was mediocre. -Server was inattentive, impersonal and seemed bored. -Had two cocktails (one vodka, one mezcal) from the menu they were ok pretty sweet not popping up with anything special. -The tuna carpaccio with melon nothing very interesting flavor wise pretty dull not much contrast or excitement in the 5 little bites.. -Wynn salad, Caesar salad - again, ok but semi flavorless components/dressing. -Grilled focaccia tasted like charcoal and day old bread, grilled but also somehow served cold? -Mains were tagliatelle and New York steak. Good enough but the lobster potatoes were bad, chewy, rubbery cold. For $320 including service charge I just never had a moment when I thought "oh wow, yum!" which was disappointing. Nice room, nice views, just very sub for the money. Best part of the evening was watching two wanna be influencers (and one of their moms) taking pics of each other in every empty spot in the room. I want to share my personal experience at this establishment in a factual and respectful manner. My partner and I arrived for a reservation for two, and our server, Milla, was exceptional -- friendly, attentive, and professional. The dining portion of the evening was excellent, and I was fully satisfied... until we left the restaurant. Immediately after walking out the front door, carrying leftovers and accompanying my girlfriend, I was approached -- actually followed outside -- by the manager and host. They confronted me and asked if I had paid my $600 bill. I calmly walked back inside with them and asked the question directly to our server. She confirmed immediately that I had in fact paid in full. Despite this, the manager and host -- who declined to provide their first names when asked -- instructed me to leave for "creating a scene," ignoring the fact that they escorted me back inside and initiated a public accusation. It is absolutely unreasonable that staff would confront a departing guest over an unpaid check without first verifying with the server who handled the table. That single step -- a basic level of professional due diligence -- would have avoided embarrassing and publicly humiliating me. I have never experienced such disrespect in a restaurant. I was effectively treated like someone trying to skip out on the bill, despite paying a $600 charge in good faith. The managerial handling of this situation was deeply unprofessional, and the misjudgment and public accusation were damaging, humiliating, and completely avoidable. I sincerely hope the leadership at this establishment reflects on this incident. No guest should ever be treated this way. For anyone considering a visit -- please be aware of my experience and proceed cautiously. read more

We had a very disappointing meal last night, especially for a restaurant located inside a Four Seasons hotel. First of all, when we ordered oysters, they took over 30 mins to come out. They were kind enough to comp these due to the inconvenience, but that was where the thoughtfulness of the service ended. Our waitress seemed very unhappy to be there. Even after finishing the oysters, she did not come back to take any other food order. By the time she came back we were all staving and asked to have everything brought out at once instead of coursed. We ended up being there for over 3 hours on a Sunday night. While we had a nice time with our friends, the attitude of the waitress, the long wait between each curse and lack of attention was really disappointing. While the appetizer beet and crab salad was delightful, the burger was extremely average. For the same price, I'd pick the Bateau burger 100% of the time. The bun completely fell apart and was soggy and the burger itself was under seasoned. Additionally, the waitress was under trained. We ordered a bottle of wine and she split it evenly 4 ways, not how wine is typically served in a fine dining restaurant. Because this is an Ethan Stowell restaurant, a 20% service charge is already included, which the waitress did not deserve, unfortunately. This is not the level of service that I would expect from Ethan Stowell or a restaurant within the Four Seasons. I have been here many times before where we had a lovely and enjoyable time, but I think it will be hard to go back after this. The only reason I am not giving this 1 star is because I have had other lovely experiences here and I hope that this feedback is taken to address. read more

The food and drinks were phenomenal here, but the thing that made our experience five stars was our waitress, Ashley! She was attentive and handled our large group of fourteen with amazing skill and poise. She tended to our every need, and she was so personable! As for the food, the brunch menu was quite extensive. I got an omelette, and it came with both hash browns and toast. The vegetables were fresh and well-seasoned, and the toast came with delicious apricot jam. It was a great value for the price, especially given that this is a restaurant in the Four Seasons. The ambiance here was both classy and fun - perfect for a special occasion or group dinner.
