One star is generous. They are unreliable if you book a future appointment with them -- which I did. I booked a follow up appointment in person at this branch, yet they were out of stock and did NOT alert me. Yes, but not before driving out there in rush hour traffic only to be told 'sorry'. Who does that? Two days earlier, I got an email from CVS confirming it; who does that? For my previous appointment, I received a check-in text. OK. But also, they called me 30 minutes prior to my appointment ?? to confirm that I was coming in. That seemed a little curious, if not weird. This next time, no check-in text. No confirm call. So, I thought it best to make sure, and to call them before coming in. Brilliant idea, except CVS has now made it impossible to speak live to somebody at this branch. (Perhaps all branches. It's a new voice system) Their new robot phone-tree will not respond when you say (again and again) variations of 'I need to speak to an agent'. Though you are invited to leave a voicemail, there is no option to confirm an appointment by phone. There is not way to reply to the email from two days ago. So, again, who does this? Recapping: they ran out of the vaccine and didn't let me know before I showed up for my appointment. Their phone system refuses to allow a call for their pharmacy. Their email confirmation is worthless. I am now looking at new options for meds and vaccinations. CVS has lost my trust. Note: They officially cancelled the appointment via email after I left the store. They offered me a $4 'we're sorry' coupon. They can keep it and take my CVS Card, too.

    ### 2023 review 47/100 ### It's that time of the year....... Pro tip: do call and double check that this CVS (or anywhere you go) is *** IN- NETWORK ### with your insurance. Otherwise you would be getting a bill in the mail for a couple hundred $$ if insurance doesn't cover. Yup. That's how it goes starting this year since pandemic is "officially over" per the Gov't. Book your Covid-19 booster online on CVS website. Check in on the link sent by text when you arrive. Wait by the area with the sign "covid shots" Get your booster shot & while you're there, flu shot as well. Wait for 15 mins, per nurse instructions. Just in case you turn unto a zombie. LOL. All done. Easy peasy.

The pharmacy is the worse I've ever seen in my life. They are always closed or having system problems.

When he got back from break, he again checked on us and our order. He explained their printer got stuck and only 30 of 40 printed. He gave us a couple of options on how to proceed--- if we would like a partial refund or if we wanted to wait for them to fix the printer and reprint. We opt for the partial refund. I'm sure they have been through a lot at this location, which I definitely take into consideration, but I don't think that means that low quality customer treatment is now acceptable (across multiple visits). I waited for them to come take a cheap item I needed out of the locked cages (that every item is in now), and when they did, instead of handing me the 5 dollar item, they insisted that they would take it up to the front where it would be waiting for me. After waiting in a long line, my item was not at the front.. So I just checked out without it. As I was leaving, an employee came up to me with the item I needed and acted like I was being an inconvenience. I went back and purchased the item only to find out that I missed out on a discount that I would have gotten if I'd have purchased it with my other items. I couldn't care less about the discount - ha, but it's just the principle of the situation and how the employees I dealt with could obviously care less. And this has been a re-occurring vibe at this store. Not to mention that the store's inventory has not been very great either.. ALTHOUGH, it is true that you never-ever know what people might be dealing with in their lives... --which is why I gave a 2 star rating instead of 1 star.

And yes, I can go on and on with a list of retro candies, but trust me, there's a good candy selection ranging from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and even as early as the 1920s (hint: Boston Baked Beans). You'll also find cool old school vintage gift ideas displayed on their shelves, like authentic tin toys, old fashioned candies, gag gifts, candles, and cards. Besides every candy imaginable and nostalgic games, there's a charming ice cream counter with retro bar seats, fresh soda flavors for unique creations, and a good selection of sundaes. I was feeling adventurous on that particular afternoon so I ordered the YELLOW BRICK ROAD SUNDAE. It's made with Mint Chocolate Chip, hot fudge, whipped cream, lime syrup, and yellow LEGO bricks. If I order this again, I'm skipping the lime syrup -- it's as awkward as one of those weird jello mold recipes from the 1950s. The LEGO bricks are cute and taste like Smarties only much, much harder. My friend ordered the simple FUDGE SUNDAE and it didn't disappoint. It had a good amount of fudge drizzled on top too. And the ice cream cones put smiles on the other kiddos' faces. Probably because the ice cream itself is creamy and premium tasting. As for the historical scoop: Fair Oaks Pharmacy has gone through a few name and design changes since its establishment. Open for more than a century along Route 66, it was first called the South Pasadena Pharmacy in 1915, then the Raymond Pharmacy in the 20's and 30's. This mom & pop shop finally found its permanent name in the early 40's, which brings us to the Fair Oaks Pharmacy and Soda Fountain, still open today in 2026. In fact, this year it'll turn 111 years old, so let's all make a wish that Fair Oaks Pharmacy stays open for another century more.
