I tend to go to this store often as it is close to where I live. For general purchases, it is like any other CVS, and not much trouble if you know what you want. However, if you have any questions for the pharmacy, you're likely to be disappointed. They are decent in person, but very rude on the phone. When you select the Pharmacy option on the phone, they sometimes put you in touch with a person who lacks sufficient knowledge or expertise to answer even the simplest of questions, e.g., "Do I need a prescription for X?", "What if the patient is over 65?", etc. I was put on hold until he got hold of a more knowledgeable pharmacist, and then the call disconnected spontaneously. I've been there to get passport and visa photographs taken, and it really depends on who is in at the time. Sometimes, the person at the booth knows how to adjust the dimensions and photo quality. The pharmacist said my insurance card was not real when it certainly is. He did not try to run it a second time or give any explanation. I was left paying the bill out of pocket for necessary medications. He also said they would give me some unexplained "discount" which took about 10 minutes to process which I waited patiently for. Turns out after 10 minutes they told me "never mind, no discount can be applied." I asked for explanation of what was even going on with this mysterious discount and he literally said unintelligible words for 10 seconds to which I responded "I do not understand, can you tell me what you mean?" The pharmacist then walked away rudely and said "YOU'RE WELCOME!!" Honestly one of the strangest and most rude customer service encounters I've ever had. DO NOT USE CVS FOR YOUR COVID testing for travel to HAWAII!!! On the 3rd day after testing and still no results, CVS told us that they use "a third party to run the tests" and had no way to contact them or find out the status of our results. CVS was happy to take our money, then wash their hands of any responsibility. TERRIBLE! We ended up having to drive to SFO the evening before our trip and paying again for COVID testing. read more

The only reason they get 1 star is because they are the only pharmacy that has my medication. Other than that, this is the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. My prescription is never ready. They have 20 people working in there, but somehow there is always a long line and no one can figure out what is going on. They also say everything with a question mark, so they sound particularly dumb when the speak. The girl there said "Here is your medication?" I looked at her and said "Well why don't you look on the bottle because you don't sound too sure." It scares me that these people are responsible for distributing medication. read more

I've gone to this CVS Pharmacy a few times to buy miscellaneous things like candy post Valentine's and I've generally had a pretty positive experience here. Contrary to most places in Menlo Park/Palo Alto, the lot in Sharon Park Dr has enough parking spots for you to get in and out without any worry. There have been numerous occasions where I would quickly go during work and be back fast before I didn't have to struggle for parking. In terms of stock, this CVS is pretty mediocre. Most of the aisles are overfilled with an abundance of items, so it can be a hit or miss. And generally the prices are average to a bit more expensive than Safeway if you don't have to club card. In terms of service, this CVS isn't that bad. On a normal day, it may take 5 or so minutes to get to the front of the line, but other than that it is chill. Shop well and prosper, read more

This review is for the pharmacy, which is the only reason I ever go to this Longs. I have had repeated problems with the pharmacy, and usually while I'm waiting for the prescription that was supposed to be ready, I'll overhear one or two other people who are also fed up. I don't think a prescription has ever been ready when I arrived to pick it up. When I ask for it to be expedited, since it's not ready and I'm there waiting, they tell me it'll be 20 minutes instead of 30. (When I get home, I find out the medication comes in tabbed packets, so all they had to do was separate off the 5 tabs for my 5 pill, stick them in an orange plastic container and print the label.) Not at all customer service oriented, and so I'm on Yelp looking for my next pharmacy. read more

It's great to have a drugstore in the neighborhood with such helpful staff. They always try to track down what I want and to answer questions. Unfortunately the CVS Corporation seems to be pursuing the practice of replacing human checkers with machines. If the company continues in that direction the store will likely lose some of its helpful employees...which could encourage people who value the help that those employees provide to shop elsewhere. read more

Well, I thought initially that having only two stars was a little unfair to the store. After the remodeling the store is bright and items easy to find. Less depressing than many drug stores.The pharmacy also has been very responsive. But the people working behind the main counter, specifically Karma, was totally insensitive to the customer. Eight people in line and she would not ask for another checker. Someone in line had to. Impersonal. Unfriendly. Very curt attitude. When I tried to return something that I bought yesterday but left the receipt at home, she would only refund a sale price on the item...and it was not even on sale. And I was given a gift card for CVS, not a refund to my credit card. When I bought the item, I was told that if I had the original packaging and the barcode on it I would be fine. Apparently not the case with karma. I now have my original receipt and will see if I can get refunded the difference. This experience makes a better argument for shopping at Amazon or Walgreens. Karma, if you hate your job find something else. Don't take it out on the customer. read more

Pharmacy NEVER has prescriptions ready on time, even if they confirm that the prescription is ready. The wait in the pharmacy line is excruciating... one person manning a cash register (slowly) with 5 people in the back who look bored. Awful experience. One time they told me they had to re-enter my insurance (fine, no problem) so they handed me off to someone else, who promptly told me it wasn't his job. He sent me back in line to talk with whoever sent me to him in the first place. It took 40 minutes to pick up a prescription that was supposedly 'ready,' with only 1 person in line in front of me. And my wife was fresh out of the hospital from giving birth-- and needed the meds ASAP. Also, they don't accept Apple Pay and they NEVER disable the inventory control tabs on their products... so 1) the alarm always goes off making you feel like a criminal and 2) the employees just ignore the alarm because they know that the alarms are false (because they never disarm the tags). Basically, if you rob this place, they'd never know because the alarms get set off all the time anyway. Completely broken system. And I know that the lack of Apple Pay is due to ridiculous CVS corporate issues, but still... get with the times. read more

2 stars because like any cvs, they have what I need in terms of OTC medicine or band aids or paper towels and want to avoid long lines at Safeway. Most people I've encountered there are pleasant enough, but there is one guy who needs a severe attitude adjustment. I'm Pretty easy to please and don't ask for anything unreasonable. I work in customer service and understand that it gets trying on your nerves when you encounter rude, entitled, whiny, never-satisfied babies who think the rules don't apply to them and because they're spending money, it's ok-fine to treat you like garbage. I get it. Gives off very rude, condescending, kinda creepy vibes and has a lot of general disdain for people. He needs to wipe the constant smirk off his face and take the sarcasm outta his demeanor. Went in there one day with a credit card, card reader asked for a PIN, which the card did not have since it's a credit card, and he snorted and rolled his eyes. Asked him "can you hold my stuff so I don't have to find it again, I'll come back" . "Ok yeah, whatever." Seriously? And it's not like this guy is having a bad day. He's like this every single time. I hope the boss hears enough complaints and does something because genuinely bad employees at bad for business. I try to avoid going in there unless I know for sure that the Safeway doesn't have what I need. read more

I like this CVS. Sure, the pharmacy is slow, but I can deal with it. They have really good deals on a lot of items, sometimes cheaper than Safeway (ice cream, for example), and they have a great selection of cards and cosmetics. I also think the people working here are really nice. Even if they don't know the answers, they try hard to get them. It's a very good place to stock up on essentials at decent prices. Parking is easy - huge lot. And it's very convenient for those in the Sharon Heights community. read more

Okay, this pharmacy NEVER has my medication in stock. Such a bother. They have everything else, like makeup and the like, but never my meds. This is not acceptable. And their drive thru? CVS Health Savings Pass does not work. Spent one week trying to get Doctors to rewrite prescriptions to use the Health Pass system. You can't use it online. This store could never get it right. Some common medications were not feasible for them to ever obtain, even though the Longs on El Camino in Palo Alto had it. However, despite their inability to actually fill prescriptions, when I pulled reports to get health insurance they listed 30 some odd medications that I had taken since September 2008!!! By the time I sorted through it, it was clear that every medication that they tried and failed to fill was reported as filled, so that the same medication would be reported as filled (with refill count decremented) multiple times per day or within a 3 day period. The actual list of prescriptions filled/refilled was not even a handful. I had to spend hours cleaning up records at one reporting bureau that services insurance underwriting and will tackle the other reporting bureau to clean up records next week. Miraculously, while all this has been happening, suddenly the thirty some odd refills listed at Longs disappeared from the Longs/CVS online system after I talked to the regional manager. No insurance company will take a customer who is taking the volumes of medications that were reported by pharmacy. Beyond deciding to move to pharmacies not associated with PBMs permanently, this particular pharmacy is clearly out of control. The lines are out the door (the lines alone are so bad that no one sane should use this pharmacy), perpetually, they would not apply insurance or CVS Health Pass or they'd use the wrong numbers or they'd provide me misinformation, plus, I've lost man days cleaning up my personal health records due to errors in their systems. The staff is very nice but no one has trained them. I don't think the systems are in place that they have any chance of keeping their heads above water. I have no idea what or who is causing such a mess. I complained to regional management and they said they'd investigate and look into further staffing and training but I've seen NO change in the past few weeks. My take and my plan from this point forward is stay very, very far away. My new vision of purgatory or hell is trying to get a prescription filled through Longs/CVS pharmacy. read more

I've been coming here since it opened, which I guess is about twenty years ago. The place has a split personality. I can't buy a box of Rice Krispies without getting an email from CVS wondering whether I enjoyed the experience. And generally I do. The staff working the retail section is usually very polite, maybe because they were raised right, and maybe because their interactions with customers are under a microscope. The pharmacy can be a different matter. Back when my wife was ill I used the pharmacy A LOT, and rarely had a problem. In fact, the pharmacy tech who handled insurance claims back then was extremely helpful. But recently I've had two unpleasant interactions with the same pharmacist. About six months ago someone backed into my car while I was inside the store, costing me $1400 out of pocket. I noticed this CVS has a camera out front, contacted corporate and asked if they could review the CCTV tape to identify the car that hit mine, and gave them a 45-minute window during which my car was parked there. Corporate had this pharmacist call me. She said brusquely that she'd watched two minutes of tape and didn't see my car. I told her that the window I'd given was just an estimate, that if I'd known my car was going to be hit I would have noted the time more closely, explained what the damage cost me, and encouraged her to watch more tape. She said angrily that she would, and that if she saw the incident she would call me back. No surprise, I didn't hear back from her. Okay, maybe she didn't go to pharmacy school so she could watch 45 minutes of CCTV tape, but she could have blown me off more politely. This morning I call at 8 AM, as instructed by another pharmacist last week, to enquire about getting my second Shingrix vaccine. Me: "I'd like to check on getting my second Shingrix shot". Her: "No!" (Silence.) Then, angrily, "We didn't get our shipment this morning!" Me (plaintively): "Could you put me on a list?" Her: "No! You have to call! I've had five calls this morning!" I guess she didn't go to pharmacy school to take five calls about Shingrix. read more

Terrible customer service. Specifically, the person named Jonathan at the drop off counter was very difficult to work with. His exact words were "that's just the way it is" when I asked why my infant son's medication wasn't ready and therefore I had to wait for a pharmacist to finish their lunch break even though I received a voicemail that it was ready. read more

This pharmacy has got to be the worst user experience in the area. They seem to have a huge bottleneck in fullfilling prescriptions. Staffing issue? The customer service staff is very helpful and nice to deal with. However, your doctor calls in a prescription the day before and you show up the next day: result? No prescription and the staff asks that you call before picking it up. Then you call, a staff tells you: it is ready ... And it is not. You wait 20 minutes to get it. Unacceptable. read more

This pharmacy is a miserable experience, and I would in no circumstances recommend it. I went to get a flu shot - if anyone is contemplating doing that here, I very strongly advise against it. It took me 45-60 minutes to just get the shot. I had to wait in three separate lines - first to get a simple 1 page consent form, then to submit the form, then to pay, and only then after all 3 was I told to go wait for my shot. Each line took 5-10 minutes, plus 5-10 minutes at each counter... Once I finally was told to take a seat and wait for my shot, I waited another 5-10 minutes before someone showed up. What was strange about all this was that I went in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon... It didn't even seem busy- just extremely inefficient. The only saving grace for this place was that the person who gave me the shot was pretty nice (the other 3 people I had to deal with during this were either not friendly or were hard to understand). I regret choosing to go here for the pharmacy. If you go only to buy a pack of Twizzlers and leave, you're probably ok. read more

I don't get all of the bad reviews pertaining to the pharmacy, I have had a consistently excellent experience at this pharmacy, even with several insurance issues. For example, today, I went to pick up my prescription, and my **extremely incompetent** doctor had sent the prescription under the wrong name (part of the name was correct so it was still identifiable as me, but it didn't hook up to my CVS account or my insurance). Anyway, obviously this was an issue and they had to figure a bunch of stuff out, but they were so nice and understanding and reran my insurance and figured everything out in less than 5 minutes. They also were so nice to me while I waited!! The head pharmacist is literally so on top of everything, he knows all the errors that can happen and how to fix them. Annoying errors like this on my **extremely incompetent / maybe just has no idea who I am?** doctor's part have happened multiple times but I at least get the prescriptions sent to Sharon Park CVS because I know they will be able to deal if there's any issues. I've been to other CVS and Walgreens where they're either outright rude that I couldn't just get my prescription sent in correctly and/or don't know how to use their computer system (or as they say, "the system isn't working,") but this has never been an issue here. read more

I've never particularly liked this pharmacy as I find their staff overall to be slow and rude. Today sealed the deal when the pharmacist checking me out literally yelled out my prescription when he went to get it: "you're getting 1 prescription for X right?" I couldn't believe it. What a violation of privacy. When I told him I'd appreciate it if he would not do that he got defensive, telling me he just wanted to verify my prescription. I said there are other ways to do that to which he replied "sorry" in a nonchalant, sarcastic tone. I am beyond upset at this experience and am still in a bit of shock that it just happened. A customer's prescription is confidential and very personal information and under no circumstances should be discussed at a volume others can hear. The fact that he didn't recognize his error is concerning given the amount of private information he handles and and his responsibilities as a pharmacist. read more

I dropped off a prescription for a controlled substance medication. The employee told me I needed to return in 3 days later to pick it up. When I returned, they had no record of the prescription whatsoever. I had to call the doctor, and drive to the office to get another prescription. I will use a DIFFERENT CVS pharmacy (since CVS is the only pharmacy I can fill at.) It's too bad. The location is convenient to my home, the store is updated, but losing a prescription is absolute taboo for a pharmacy. read more

"Eek! Methinks not." is exactly correct! This is our neighborhood pharmacy, so we often come here to fill prescriptions. I continuously tell myself I'll never come back, but when emergency calls we don't have any other closer options. The pharmacy here is a complete mess. If you have insurance, don't even bother bringing it because they won't know how to run it. Every single time I fill a prescription, without fail, they will say the "insurance didn't work" without any explanation. I explain again to re-look at the file and re-run the claim to which they say it will just take a minute...15 minutes later, they will come back with, "still didn't work". After going through this a few times, they will figure out how to run it and say "we've fixed it in the system, so it won't happen again". I've heard that numerous times already and yet, it still happens. Save your mental health, this place is not worth your time, money, or most importantly, your health. If they can't figure out how to run insurance imagine what types of mistakes/oversights they have with your medications. read more

So, I read these reviews after foolishly asking my doctor to call in a prescription here, because it was close to where I work. I figured I'd give it a go anyway. I mean, who writes reviews of drugstores, but crabby bored folks looking to vent their displeasure to the world, right? Yeah, that's what I thought. The pharmacy here really is a chaotic poo-show, staffed by what seem to be friendly, but ultimately inept children. They had my scrip for days, but never thought to call anyone for the unusual and time intensive authorization from my insurance company before I was there in person, where I was informed that it was likely to take a few more days. Now, a portion of the blame for my woes is totally on me, I waited until I was out before going to pick up my refill. I accept that. But they couldn't even float me a couple of pills until they figured out how to get their paperwork in order. It's not like they couldn't see this coming, I don't know why the process hadn't been started the day they received the request from my doctor. The rest of the store is fair to middling. It's certainly not nice enough for me to go out of my way to get there, but I don't worry that I'll leave with an infection or anything. read more

I went to buy a gift card. Before I paid I told the cashier I wanted a separate receipt proving activation of the card. I wanted to include it in the gift. I do not like to include my personal receipt with the gift card. The cashier told me I would see the activation in the receipt. I said that was not what I wanted. He told me ok and went ahead with the transaction. I spoke with the manager who basically told me to go take a hike. read more

This location has a drive through and I can pick up the medications quickly. The pharmacists and techs are generally friendly and helpful. We get reminders on our phones. Overall, I don't mind coming here to get our meds. As a medical professional, from my experience, sometimes the medications are not called in due to issues with the insurance company, overlooked when too busy (especially during winter time), or sent to the wrong pharmacy location. I would recommend to call ahead to confirm, especially when you don't get a courtesy call. read more

The only redeeming quality of CVS Pharmacy is its location. The time they tell you your prescription would be ready is a joke -- it doesn't mean anything to them, and they don't bother to call you and let you know. It has happened to me more than once when I tried to pick up my prescription well after my refill time, and it wasn't ready and was told several more orders were still ahead of me. What a waste of time! From now on, I'll just have to order refill well in advance and pick up a day later than the time I ask to be ready. read more

I work in Menlo Park and picking up a prescription while on a break would be super convenient, but the fact that the pharmacy is understaffed and slow annoys me to no end! I've even gotten calls from the pharmacy saying that the RX is ready, but when I get there..... they can't find my prescription! I've told them time and time again that they have my name misspelled, but they never correct it. I just spent the last 14 minutes calling them to find out if a new RX is ready. 14 minutes before someone answered!!!! Although, it's right down the street from my office... this is definitely the last time I use that pharmacy. The only reason why I gave a 2 star rather than a 1 star is because when I do buy other items there, the cashiers up at the front have always been so nice and helpful. read more
