I'm writing to apologize to the pharmacist who was working the morning of March 8th, who seemed terribly inconvenienced to stop what he was doing to help me fill a prescription. He was so incredibly rude through the entire process that I ended up taking my prescription to another pharmacy. When I announced that I was leaving, he finally seemed to cheer up a bit. He even yelled after me, letting me know that I "can't just walk into a pharmacy and get a prescription filled". I guess he missed the class on customer service. I hope he knows something about pharmacy. Regardless, he will be pleased that I will NEVER RETURN to this store. The silver lining is that I went to Costco on Central Ave in Richmond and the pharmacists were incredibly pleasant and helpful. My script was filled in less than 15 minutes. AND I was able to do a little shopping while I waited. For those who don't know, Costco drug prices are often half what other chain pharmacies charge. So, even better, I very likely saved some money. This CVS NEEDS A COMPLETE OVERHALL. I hope the corporate office pays attention to how bad the review for this cvs are because they are valid. Awful inventory selection. Basics are non existent. What you can find is more expensive than a lot of other CVS. It's like because this location is close to the hood the store thinks it can be this bad. Do not use this CVS Pharmacy if you have the option to use a different one. They are incompetent and unprofessional. Something as simple as calling in a prescription I have had at CVS for years became an ordeal because of this pharmacy's incompetence. The person I spoke with mistook me for a different person they had apparently placed on hold, and didn't think to verify who he was speaking with before saying the other person's private medical details, name, and birthday to me. If I was that person, I would be furious. Then, once I realized what was happening and told him, he put me back on hold without telling me what he was doing and never returned to our call or answered my follow up call. Absolutely unprofessional and ridiculous. Other CVS locations have typically not had issues like this in my experience, so I hope the company deals with the unacceptable unprofessionalism and incompetence at this location. read more

No workers except one cashier and a pharmacist, great place to steal. Employee kept calling for back up at the register as there were 5-6 people in line. I came in to use the restroom since the Starbucks one was out of order. The sole cashier called several times to have someone let me in. No one responded. I love going to this Long's rather than dealing with the insanity of the El Cerrito Plaza Longs and their parking lot with it's never-ending gridlock and drivers-who-don't-believe-in-ever-stopping-at-stop-signs. It is not large but it is surprisingly well stocked with all the items mentioned previously. I have been able to buy first aid items, Ziploc bags, pens & pencils, vitamins,greeting cards, gift paper, hair clips, ice cream, as well as many items I didn't need but bought anyway: An I Love Lucy umbrella and tote bag set (on sale) An Elvis Presley umbrella and tote bag set (on sale) Many pairs of earrings for under $10. Cat toys DVD's for under $10 including Season One of Soap and Season One of Mad About You. Nice staff, no pushy fellow shoppers, Plenty of parking too and they have a clean, public bathroom. This review is long overdo and directed to the Indian cashier, Paulina. I myself coupon here every once in a while and she HATES couponers. I had two transaction with 4 items each and when she saw my coupons, she ask me "what is this?" started huffing and puffing, and making rude comments about how she cant do anything if the coupons doesn't beep. Like duh! And if there was a problem then I'll ask for the manager. Common sense shit. Just do your job. These unnecessary rudeness causes headaches, stalling, and more people to dislike you. We coupon community know who you are. Then she had the nerves to ask the lady in back of me to let others go first because she too, had too many coupons. WTF? First come, first serve, isn't that how it works? Make a complaint if you ever come across this problem. She needs some serious customer service training. I typically loathe going to big drug store chains due to long lines at the cash register, disorganized aisles, and poor service. And higher prices than competitors such as Target. Unfortunately, this CVS fits this description. What's more, the refrigerated/frozen section in the back has a sign warning customers to check items' expiration date. That should be a given as a smart consumer...but shouldn't the employees do that too and remove such items? Seems to be a problem with poor/lazy management... read more

In a neighborhood where the nearest grocery store is several miles away this Longs really comes in handy. I find myself here almost looking for some obscure aroma of shaving cream or decent bottle of wine, or a stouffer's frozen lasagna almost every night at 9:55. If I could give the pharmacy 5 stars I would (LOVE THEM!) but this is a general rating for the store. PRO's Pharmacy Staff Store is Open Late Fairly Clean/Well Lit CON's You can tell that some of the employees don't like their jobs (lots of frowning going on!) The shelves are often empty or have one of an item. Items that are "on sale" many times aren't in stock. My biggest problem with CVS in general is all the high margin junk and processed food they push. You walk into the place and it's chips, candy, soda and junk food everywhere. Prices are on the expensive side so I tend to buy here only when I notice something is on sale. At least we have some place to go in the hood so I'm thankful about that. read more

Bernie, it's all about Bernie. The store is about the same as any other Long's Drug stores - clean, effecient, but rarely busy. The pharmacy is okay, small, so they don't always have everything you want immediately but they are honest about how long it will take to get it. And then there is Bernie. Bernie the Pharmacist is a darling, older, elfin gentleman from England. Pop a vest and cravat on him and he's something straight out of Dickens. Have a question on how your prescription will interact with an OTC med? Bernie will come out and help you find the right medication. I have always found him pleasant, informed and kind. This is old school service within a corporate machine. He calls me "Dear" and I call him Bernie. I have a lot of medical issues and it is so nice to have someone looking out for me. UPDATE: I need to right a wrong. As much as I love Bernie, I deal more with the delightful Evangaline who runs the counter with warmth and grace. She knows me and my meds and the hassles with my coverage. She is always looking out for me and makes dealing with all the hassles bearable. read more

There's nothing fancy about this place. I go here when I need convenient materials, such as over-the-counter medicine, booze, or the occasional edible item if nothing else is closer. The clerks were professional and told me what I needed when I needed something. I will come back here as long as it still sells convenient materials when I need them. I rarely give negative reviews, but I'm determined to do it today after a horrible experience at this CVS and their cashier Pauline. As a regular customer and a person who works accross the street I've gone to this CVS for necessities and have been aware for quite some time of Pauline's unpleasant attitude and bad customer service in general, so I have been avoiding her like the plaig, however, today I had no choice and it was my worst experience ever....After putting my card into the card reader, upon her order, no kidding, she barks orders at you, her register froze. She started blaming me for what happened, I was standing there in disbelief. She was disgruntled, she had to reboot her register etc. I the customer, felt so uncomfortable, and violated by Pauline's abusive attitude towards me. Needless to say I left all my items at the register without making any purchases and left the CVS store. Other people who have gone there have had similar experiences with Pauline. Please CVS, do us a favor and put her somewhere in the back of the store to restock merchandise away from your customers where she can be of better service. In the meantime I'm not going to this CVS again even if I have to drive miles to the nearest convenience store. read more

This place is fantastic. As others have pointed out, there isn't a grocery store nearby, so it's great to have a Longs that has a decent sized food and beverage section. On my last trip to Longs, I bought: - potting soil - vodka - moutwash - Haagen Dazs - Chicken Salad - Printer paper That just gives you an idea of the variety of stuff Longs has. My husband and I stopped at Meeker Ave, Richmond, California, to charge our car and saw a CVS unit right in front of us (located at 2151). We decided to get some refreshments, snacks and came into the shop, but could not find anybody by the cashier. The only person close to the entrance was a security guard, but he was sitting on a chair looking at his phone all the time and did not even see us. My husband and I needed to go to the restroom while waiting for the cashier. The restroom doors were locked. We looked around the whole shop to find some employee but nobody came out. We went back to the security guard who was still playing with his phone. We asked him about the restrooms key. He told us to get it with the cashier who was showing up at this point. My husband asked the cashier for the keys and he said their restrooms were not open to the public. I couldn't believe what I heard. I told him that I needed to pee before shopping and had to speak loud that I would not accept his attitude. He told me that I had to ask the manager. Then finally some woman came from the back of the store. He said something to her and she opened the restrooms. The restroom was super dirty and smelling of urine. I came out, got some cereal bars, a coke and other snacks. Then, I saw a red xmas plant and decided to get one for our house. They were all dry and dying right there. The employees of this CVS unit really look like they do not like their jobs. They do not care about doing business. That location is premium, specially with so many Tesla chargers. Unfortunately, this is the closest pharmacy to my residence. Have never had any issues with the Pharmacy department but highly advise customers to otherwise avoid the store for shopping. I frequently receive coupons at the end of my Rx receipt for $ off general purchases. I typically threw these away and never attempted to use one until today. It is a scam. Cashier informed me that I was not using the correct rewards card number and it also wasn't that of my boyfriends. We only have two rewards cards in our household and the coupon could have only come from one. Not getting $2.50 off is not my gripe and I subsequently told the cashier to just forget it. What was absolutely unnecessary was being berated and yelled at by the cashier during the process. It was only in the morning and the cashier was already the most irritated and rude employee I've ever dealt with. I've filed a complaint with CVS. If you're thinking about shopping here because it's just more convenient and closeby, DON'T. Do yourself a favor and go to Target or Walgreens. I have dealt with bad customer service, but today I have probably seen the worst one. The cashier named Pauline, had the audacity to tell a customer to move to the back of the line since she was going to use coupons and didn't want to hold up the already formed line. No matter how long the line is, you should never tell a customer who had waited in line, just like everyone else, to move to the back of the line just because her transaction will probably take longer than most (unless they cut). I, also having experience as a part time cashier, know what it feels like to have to face customers everyday but that does not mean I wont treat them with respect or equality. I have been shopping at CVS for years and have mix feelings every time. Certain days, I get a cashier who is extremely helpful and provides excellent customer service like Taylor at our Pinole store. Unfortunately, there are way too many rotten apples. For example, almost all the employees on Meeker St (Pt. Richmond, CA) are horrible with the exception of a few employees. Paulene has to be the worst of them all. Her name comes up on YELP a couple of time and has been nicknamed as 'Hitler Face' (I did not make this up). Although I find this very offensive, her customer service is worst. She frowns at folks who wishes to pay with coupon and makes them wait for "regular customers" to be rung up. I've been told to wait several times I've shopped there. Each time she assisted me, she'd always add some kind of comment like "I can't do this, I can't do that....oh because I'll get written up or fired...and it'll be on you"....I am a very easy customer. I always get my coupons in order including the ones YOU (CVS) email me. I smile, I even talk to folks in line and offer them coupons. Bottom line, She's always so negative and never wants to help. I'm very surprise she is still employed after so many complaints. If Paulene isn't enough to convince you of what horrible customer service is, yesterday I went to CVS to grab some items that was on sale. I ran into some trouble with my extraBucks and coupons. Annalisa, who was sweet but is afraid of her POS, referred me to her Shift Manager Juanita for assistance. Juanita did not look pleased at all. She gave me some bogus reason on why my ecb/coupons didn't work. She even told me to call the 800 and ask them. She told me that she could not do anything for me. She insisted that I used it even after showing her all of my receipts. She did not come up with any proper solution or did anything "Manager-like" to help me.This store needs a WHOLE new team or retrain everyone. I hope by taking the time to explain my frustration, you, CVS corporate, can intervene and restore excellent customer service, educate your coupon policy to the workers, train them on your POS system, Extra Training for MANAGERS, and most importantly, tell them to stop panicking when customer pays with COUPONS. I wish I could report they give good service but in the past ten months I have had multiple issues. They call and say my Rx is ready but when I arrive it is not. I have gotten other peoples' Rx's instead of my own. I have been on hold for 45 minutes. The list goes on and on. One time I was out of pills for four days because they would not call my physician. Seriously this is THE BEST PHARMACY IN THE WORLD BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE! They know me by name, are so attentive to detail, are so friendly, fast and efficient and extremely caring. I have been going here for years and it's an easy in and out place. It has all the normal stuff you would find in a CVS but there are a few nice finds you might not expect. The selection and price of wine/champagne is actually really good. The same goes for the booze. They often have lower prices on the quality bottles than any other market. There is a nice , but small, gourmet section. International cookies and foodstuffs that are A1 quality are found at a great price. Keep an eye out for the deals. They are out there. read more

The staff at this CVS pharmacy are stellar! I was visiting and had to get my refills there. There was a African-American pharmacy tech who worked the line really fast, I didn't catch her name, but it was busy and she was very cheerful and read my medications to me and the price of each one. When I asked for a flu shot, she checked to see if my insurance covered it for me. When I got home and noticed that an ointment I gotten was a slightly different from the one I needed, I called to let them know, the pharmacist, Sasha, apologized, helped me located a compounding pharmacy which could fill it near me and personally sent me a refund in the mail. This is a great Longs. The staff is always willing to help, the place is well stocked and organized, and the place is clean. Being that I live in this area, it's the closest thing we have to a supermarket. On more than one occasion I've stopped here for basic dinner items that have saved me from a crazy long drive just to find a decent supermarket in a safe area. read more

I usually get a coupon for SOMETHING in here and every now and again, I get these Extra Bucks... to use in the store. Always clean.
