It's a busy pharmacy but much better than the other chain pharmacy in San Carlos that starts with a W. On my late visit there I needed antibiotics and I had to catch a train that afternoon. Infinitely better than the Walgreens I used to go to! The CVS app is extremely useful and easy to use for requesting refills / scheduling pickup. Their software in store & staff are reasonably capable, and while there's occasionally lines I can usually get my prescriptions without issue. Went into isle to get face lotion. It's locked up. Another lady is waiting to get into same cabinet. 10 min of waiting and pushing the button for help yields nothing. We both left the store empty handed. This is why I'll just buy my stuff on amazon next time. Skip this place, it's terribly understaffed and even if you get what you need, the checkout lines are long and move at a snails pace. The pharmacy itself is frequently backup up as well with a single person filling prescriptions in between answering phones and helping people in line. read more

Deeply Disappointed in Emergency Response I had an urgent need for a medication and contacted this CVS pharmacy to confirm details before heading home to sort out my insurance. I rushed back as quickly as I could--only to arrive at 8:03 PM, three minutes past closing. Despite explaining the emergency and pleading my case, the staff showed zero empathy. They simply told me to come back the next day. This is a pharmacy--their primary responsibility should be to help patients, especially in urgent situations. Turning someone away over three minutes, knowing it's an emergency, is not just inconsiderate--it's irresponsible. What are the hrs here? It says midnight so I came In at midnight last week and it was open. Then the other night when I came it wasn't even 11pm yet and they were closed. Well.. the lights were all on and I saw someone walking around the store but there was no getting in. This seems to be a thing at this place. Husband clicked the service button several times to request help in getting something out of the locked shelved cases, waited over 20 minutes. The lady (who appeared to be wearing a white-haired wig, bob-haircut style) ignored him and kept talking to another customer. She walked behind me and said 'excuse me' in a very rude-manner.....more like she meant to tell me get of her way (there was plenty of space for her to walk past me in the aisle). Do not shop here. I have received flu & Covid vaccines here and those all went well. Store is clean and well stocked. If there is a line at the checkout, it moves fast. It pains me to give a bad rating (I had good experience at this location a while back) but this one incident really bothers me. I am giving this store bad rating for lacking dedication and care. I really need the drug (I am suffering now) the doctor just prescribed for me an hour ago, so seeing the Google Maps it says (and still does) this CVS pharmacy opens till 10 PM today/ Sunday I asked my doctor to route the Rx to this location instead of my usual CostCo pharmacy (which closes on Sunday). I showed up at 5 PM and the staff told me they are closing. I said I really really need the drug and told them Google Maps says they open till 10 PM. I asked them if they can do something or transfer the Rx to another CVS and they said they can't (because one of the drugs contains controlled substance). I asked when they changed their hours and was told "a while back". I get Google Maps is not their website but why does this store's manager allows such a widely used website to contains incorrect info? The staff also had a "I don't care attitude" and seems more care about going home on time. read more

BEWARE!! This only has to do with the PHARMACY not the store!! I'm an epileptic and I take medication for epilepsy and without that medication I could die or have fatal seizures. WATCH OUT for a pharmacist named ANNA ANOLIN!! She has sent me to the emergency room more times than I can tell you!! She ihas Dirtied my medical records with false accusations and telling my doctor that I'm refilling my medication early when I'm not.. she goes out of her way with hatred and harasses me.. I was having trouble taking a medication ( generic brand)that is for my epilepsy from another pharmacy and they were happy to transfer the medication over to CVS because Cvs carried the medication that I could take for my epilepsy.. the whole day went by I kept calling, but ANNA was in the background the whole time making it impossible for me to get my medication when I got there she says in a nasty sinister voice. She told me it's too early... I told her what are you talking about? My doctor just called in the script. I can't take this medication, but she continued to cause more problems and then Threatened and said she was calling my doctor, but my doctor already approved i the medication. Then she called the other pharmacist trying to make me out to look bad and she called my doctors office after hours to try to say that I was getting medication early. She's trying to Paint a picture of me that's a bunch of BS.. I thought she had left the pharmacy but then about a couple months later she's back again. Be CAREFUL if you're trying to fill a script she has no compassion or caring for other human beings...!!! WATCH OUT she is a LIAR too.. she will lie straight to your face. Today I had an urgent prescription to pickup for a bacterial infection. I got to the pharmacy counter at CVS in San Carlos, and there were 11 people in line ahead of me. But I needed the meds so I waited. For exactly *eight minutes!* Somehow the pharmacy team was able to process 11 people -- some with multiple medicattions -- in barely 45 seconds on average. They had a full staff at the counter so it all went remarkably quickly. Kudos to the CVS pharmacy team for taking care of everyone quickly and professionally! read more

I received excellent service from a pharmacist named Christine today. Insurance had declined to cover the medication, and the cash price was $600... I declined to pay that, but after a week I realized I needed the medication so I came back resigned to pay the $600. Then a lady name Christina took my case and worked on her computer for a long time and was able to get it down to $200... She found a coupon card of some kind. So I'm very grateful for the excellent service I have received at CVS in San Carlos. I have also noted that they don't put you through the ringer as other pharmacies do for certain prescriptions. Today, my wife and my son decided to walk into CVS on San Carlos ave. to purchase some items during our walk. I needed to use the restroom and I asked one of the employees who was stocking items. He said that the bathroom wasn't available to customers anymore because they go in to do drugs and steal items. I told him I'm a paying customer and that I wasn't planning to do any drugs or steal anything, but he did not provide me with the code. I could not believe that he was not able to see that I'm a normal customer and not someone walking in from the street That was the last time I go into that store. This is my neighborhood cvs and we love it all this year, but today I was very disappointed about the tactics of this person working at the cashiers, I was buying something's and ready to pay, but after giving my number which show my email, she just said to me, don't worry today is free just pay the tax, you got some coupons and you are lucky! Which I had those coupons before and kind of believe but the amount was almost $19 plus tax, so vI was very confused even ask are you signing me on some kind of credit card? She reply nope nothing at all cvs does not have credit card, so I guess lucky me today got some good rewards!! Got home, later an email welcoming about this "Carepass" that will charge $5 dollars every month with the card That was used today!? Really tricky way to made people sign up without any explanation! Got back to the online to cancel immediately and even check again the receipt which usually never do and yes right there mention the welcome to care pass! I dont know how many people she does this a day, but I am sure many will not know what to do once they find out that the sign up on something that was not explained properly!! CVS Pharmacy - The charge for the Carepass receipt - Drugstores Near Me - San Carlos, California

Cashier (Meera?) tricks people into signing up for CarePass, which charges $5 per month. She does it under the guise of accessing a special coupon and instructs the customer to swipe their credit card and then click yes/green on every prompt that comes up. People ask what it's for, and she always says you won't be charged anything now, and you'll get $10 free every month. If someone calls her out she pretends it's a language barrier issue and just says she was trying to "save nice people money, oops sorry!" Not only is this incredibly unethical, it's likely illegal. You'll see countless reviews on Yelp and Google documenting this. I've left feedback with corporate CVS and locally, and she's still there pulling off this scam. Completely upsetting. Beyond that, this CVS is pretty okay for a suburban location. Well stocked, clean, and a great liquor selection. It really could use self checkout to help speed things up, but I'm sure this particular store is rife for shoplifting as well. read more

I shop here regularly and use the pharmacy. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The pharmacy works great with the online tool. Pharmacy is always knowledgeable and there to answer questions. My only gripe with the store is having to ask for access to most items. It's a sad reality these days that they have to lock items away because of theft. read more

Review is actually for the pharmacy. I chose this pharmacy based on locations and hours. It's one of the few CVSs that have a pharmacy open after 7pm. This one has 2 star rating, and most every other CVS or similar place in the area is about the same. It seems people have very strong opinions about their drugstores. I've had no problems here, and the staff have been very friendly and professional (I think I've actually only interacted with one girl who just happens to be there the few times I've been in). I've been here a few times in the last month, and have had very good service here. The staff are friendly on the phone, and my prescriptions have been ready on arrival (though the app is not the best lately). I did a drop off recently and waited 10 minutes for it to be ready. Recently, I anticipated an issue with changing insurance, and so I called ahead to make it easier on pickup. When I arrived, my meds had been run to my old insurance, but I think they just happened to have processed them before i could make the call (fast service). I asked the pharmacy tech about it and they took my new info and had it reprocessed in about 5 minutes. I haven't shopped here or gotten anything else, but I did wander around a bit and the store is clean and well-stocked. So far, so good. read more

I was racially profiled January 18th 2023 by three cashiers. I was at CVS to pick up prescriptions for my broken toe that I broke that morning. After I picked up my prescriptions I decided to get some Easter items for my children which ended up being a lot in my cart which by the way the carts are small carts so my cart was completely full. I was heading towards the front to purchase some lotions that happened to be near the front door. As I was about to turn to get lotions from one of the front aisles I was yelled at by one of the cashiers from across the way and was asked rudely and disrespectfully if I was going to be purchasing the items and if so the register was on the other side. I was not done shopping and there was no reason for anyone to question me. Make a long story short the n word was involved yelling and screaming and disrespect happened to me a young Latin law-abiding citizen medical assistant mother of three children. I would never jeopardize my career or my children due to theft. Three of CVS's staff members who were working at the register continued to disrespect me including in front of other customers and their own supervisor. I have never been so humiliated. I advise anyone of color or different ethnicity to not shop at this location. I do not want anyone to be racially profiled as I have. This incident has been reported and is being investigated. If anyone have anything negative to say towards this post I will take your post and find out who you are and expose you. This was my experience and I hope no one else experiences the racist, hateful and unsafe environment. As of now this is not a safe place. And also I have included a photo of my broken toe to show that this is the truth! Do not go to CVS in San Carlos (on San Carlos Ave) for a flu shot (or any shot). My 89 year old mother had an "appointment" at 9:30 this morning. After filling out the forms on line days before and checking in this morning when we got there - we still had to wait in line behind a person who was a walk-in for the flu shot (with his mother). The pharmacist asked if we had an appointment (while we were in line) and I confirmed - she still took the guy in front of us. My mom had to answer a lot of questions which she had answered on line. What is the purpose of on line forms if you still have to fill them out verbally while there? When the pharmacist was finally ready with the shots - the pharmacist took mom's temperature and asked her birthdate (again)...then instead of giving her the shot - the pharmacist proceeded to take the temperatures of the walk-ins (easier for her in the long run, I'm sure) and their birthdates. I did not see her wipe the thermometer which touched my mom's head then went directly to the other two peoples foreheads. My mom was left just standing there waiting longer. We were almost 15 minutes beyond her "appointment" time when we walked out. Covid concerns? The one (singular) chair CVS used for giving shots was not wiped down with any cleanser while I was there (I saw two people sitting in the chair, one after the other while I was in line). No cleaning or wiping when the pharmacist told my mom to sit in the chair (I told her not to sit - stand for the shot). No cleaning of the thermometer after each use (maybe it's not supposed to touch the person? It did touch my mom's forehead). My mother is quite elderly, it takes some effort to get her safely out during Covid and for something medical - the cleanliness standard should be extremely high. Very disappointed and will never even consider using CVS San Carlos for pharmacy needs. We went directly to Safeway (Belmont, ECR) where she was a "walk in" and was given the shot within five minutes of walking in. Safeway has a spacious waiting room (they only allow one person in at a time) and a separate area where the shots are given. I've seen them disinfect after shot given. They do ask if senior to call ahead to make sure they have the double dose. read more

The brunette lady who works at the pharmacy counter is probably one of the most impatient, rudest human beings I have ever come into contact with. She's especially impatient and grumpy toward elderly people, I've witnessed this several times standing in line, and it's very hard to watch. This is the worst pharmacy ever. I have to fight with them over my RXs being covered when they've been filling the prescriptions with insurance for years. I was going to stay on the line to see if they would ever pick up but gave up at At 28 mins . I either have to have my insurance agent call them or I just pay the uncovered fee because I need them. I Sometimes even Get refund checks from CVS because someone with common sense at corporate realized their mistakes. If you would like to be inundated weekly with texts asking if you'd like a refill an RX you just picked up or expired years ago, this is the place for you. Covid tests are suppose to be free with Medicare, not at your San Carlos location I have to drive to Foster City. They're close but incompetent. SCAM ALERT. The woman at the register asked if I wanted to take use my $10 discount as part of CVS Rewards. I said sure, and the prompt on the screen showed that CVS would charge me $5/mth and in return I'd get $10 off a month in purchases. Nice deal if you shop there a lot but the woman absolutely should have mentioned that up front. When I said I didn't want to sign up she gave me a hard time.
