Came in with my bf just to shop around and try on some jackets and gloves. Worked with salesman, Jonathan, and he was the nicest most helpful employee I've encountered at a shop in a long time. Wasn't pushy and I didn't feel like I HAD to buy anything from him, but because of his knowledge and friendly demeanor (also the deals he hooked us up with) I ended up walking out with a new helmet, gloves, and jacket at the most reasonable price I could have imagined. AND he helped me set up a great payment plan for everything. Picked up a Sena 10U Bluetooth set up for my helmet. The guys were as helpful as ever. Even took the time to install it in my helmet and pair it to my phone. I absolutely love it. I got a really good price too. About 60 bucks cheaper than at a dealer. I'm old enough to be a dad to just about everyone who works here but they're always really cool. Previous to 8/3/16 I purchased a pair of LED conversion headlight lamps from another store location and by true accident they were a mis matched pair due to an updated part that was contained in a box with same part number but physically would not match when used in pairs. Of course it is day before a needed road trip. My store recommended and checked stock of this location and after a phone call Jake went above and beyond to check for a matched pair and promised to hold them as I made a commute down from Santa Monica. Came in for their grand opening this weekend and was greeted with what I expected: underwhelming mediocrity. The store itself is larger than the Laguna location so that was a plus, but the inventory is pretty dismal. As we all know, Cycle Gear started going downhill in 2012 and plummeted in 2013 with the flood of Bilt and Sedici moving in and all the decent inventory moving out. I was hoping this trend wouldn't last, but it's almost the end of 2014 and there seem to be no signs of change. At any rate, the store was pretty empty since it was a rainy day and the news of the grand opening wasn't very well advertised. Location is prime right off the 405 on a major intersection, but the parking lot is cramped and the strip mall is barren. Next door is a pretty decent donut shop with good coffee and sandwiches, and a Chevron is right alongside it, so that's a big plus. Employees were pretty poor and gave little to no attention to the people in line. Sure it was a grand opening but when someone is standing in line and a clerk is working with someone at the counter, the clerk should probably acknowledge the next person in line AFTER GIVING EYE CONTACT rather than ignoring the customer entirely then walking away to another part of the store. I put my items away and left then headed to the D-Store and spent $300. I don't like CG and I'm disappointed in the continual decline of the items in stock, so though it was something to do on a rainy Sunday, I won't be coming back here. If I need anything, I'll most likely go to the Laguna location since it's closer to my house, but even if I lived near this location, I probably wouldn't visit again after my experience today. Note to CG: If you're going to open a new store, you should probably have adults handling the floor instead of children. read more

I have been in the market for some new light-weight riding gloves for quite some time now and have had no luck finding anything that will fit my 4XL hand. I was in Huntington Beach on Monday and decided to visit the local Cycle Gear and see what they had. I arrived late morning and found the place pretty much empty. My best guess was 2-3 customers in the store. I walked in and the young woman near the counter said "Good morning". Customer service!! Great or so I thought! That was the only contact that was made with me until I headed out the door when the same young woman said "Thanks for coming in!" The entire time I was in the store, NO ONE from Cycle Gear offered to help me, ask me what they could do or even acknowledge the fact I was there. They sure had a good conversation among themselves about donuts. Very disappointingly I left. On my way out the door, I said to myself "Sorry to have bothered you! My mistake!" Cycle Gear must be doing very well financially because they did not need any of my money. Customer Service, is it a Myth? My quest continues! read more

Definitely my favorite cycle gear location. I've been to the Lomita and the Fullerton locations and their services combined isn't as good as the Huntington Beach location. I really have nothing but good words for this location. I love the staff. Every single person that my boyfriend and I have encountered have been incredibly helpful -- especially Ben. He goes out of his way to help us as much as he can, always has a smile on his face, answers all of our questions, and most of all, he treats us the way we should be treated -- with respect. I never get this kind of service at the other locations. Store manager is a Karen that doesnt talk to customers and only speaks store credit only. I bought my first helmet here. It was a scorpion helmet. It was okay. I used it for the msf course but by the end of the day I noticed there was a crack on the side near the visor. I never put the helmet down on the ground. I brought it in and showed and explained and the sales associate went to the manager and said store credit only. I was new and needed a helmet asap because I was going to buy a bike in a few days so I picked out the bell qualifier dlx. But instead of a brand new in the box helmet, they gave me the display off the shelf instead. Red Flag. I bought stuff from online and in store and returned stuff all the time. Didnt think it was a big deal. So I bought a rear stand and they only had one left. I looked at it and it was pretty scratched up and I said the to the sales associate "hey this is the last one but can I still return it if its scratched up like this?" And he said "yeah just bring the receipt with you." So I took it home and only realized I bought the wrong type of rear stand. So the following weekend I brought it to return it and the sales associate said you clearly used it and cant accept it. I explained I never used it and its the last one you guys had which explains all the scratches on it. "yeah man sorry but I cant accept it." I call Bullshit. He went to the manager and the sales associate returned and said store credit only. I never met the store manager but its always store credit only. Apparently he's not man enough to come out in person to say store credit only. I had to take it to another store and explained to the manager and he took it with no hesitation. I'll be sure to tell everyone I meet to avoid this store and take my business elsewhere. I know the store manager will read this so I will communicate with you in words that you can understand. We came in around 5:30, last minute on a holiday, and we needed a helmet for my daughter for her first time (she is 3). Despite the time and the holiday we received excellent customer service the moment we walked in the door. Immediate help in finding the appropriate youth helmet. She tried on several helmets and came out with a Fox helmet and awesome gloves. We have visited other locations and haven't had a bad experience yet! Awesome staff. I walked in this Friday for riding pants and a Bluetooth communicator. I said "what's the best Sena?" he picked up the Cardo packtalk, not a Sena. I said "why?" and he responded with "its what he and I have and it has Jbl speakers" in addition to a few other legitimate reasons, good enough for me. I then asked for pants recommendations and he picked out a great pair that provided plenty of protection and still breathed. This weekend I did a 981 mile trip to San Francisco and back, both the Cardo packtalk and the pants performed amazingly in the respective ways. Would recommend 110%. read more

Now I'm told there is only a 1 year warranty because Bilt is having problem with manufacturers. Not my problem. I'm not a every day rider just weekend warrior. Either management has read the reviews posted on this location, or people are too mean? Lol. I'm a first-time rider, and was looking to shop for some gear and view prices. I visited this location yesterday. Upon entering, I noticed tons of gear from wall-to-wall. Lots of helmet variety, jackets, gloves, shoes, and parts. I made my way to a gloves rack, and was approached by a female. She asked if I was doing alright and if I needed help looking for anything. I replied, "yup. I think I may be doing alright". She noticed I was unsure, and asked me if I was sure. I told her the truth, and that I needed help finding gloves for cruiser-riding. She then led me over to where they have their street/cruiser gloves. Once I was looking at the correct gloves, I was approached by Robert. He asked if I needed help, and I told him I was looking for gloves. He asked for what style of riding, and I told him for a cruiser. He then pointed out a rack that holds several gloves mainly used for cruisers. He then started to explain the different styles, but never pressured my into buying a specific brand. I got some large-sized gloves, and upon check-out, he took the security tag for me to try them on. Thanks to that, I ended up changing to medium-sized, as large wasn't a snug-enough fit. I'm sharing my experience so that if anyone out there is new to riding, or just looking for gear, this is the place to go to. I know the negative reviews can make you "iffy" about visiting (I felt too), but like I mentioned, completely different atmosphere than that mentioned in other reviews. Staff has been cool. They price match oils and lubricants. It's pretty cool as I don't have to drive 30 mins to get 2 stroke oil.

This place needs better management or it will be out of business soon. I called and asked if they have a dirt bike fuel filter and the guy said yes come on down, I get there and I see a line outside the store which is understandable because of Covid-19. Now here is the problem, They have two tables blocking the entrance of the store and are able to help ONLY TWO customers at a time, Now you would think they would have a separate table to help out the customer with wandering eye and another for the pick up and go people. Well that's not the case, I had to wait about an hour for a $5 fuel filter because of some kid trying on helmets, gloves, jackets, and boots. every time the associate would bring him an item, "NO its too small" or "no, its too big" while a bunch of customers outside lining up just started leaving one after another, So congratulations on that plan because it is working out great! read more

Go to Kurt, extremely resourceful and professional. Rotten luck today, ran out of gas in the middle of the fwy, pulled over to the shoulder then ran over a nail.. Most local shops including Cycle Gear weren't able to fix my tire, however, instead of blowing me off, Kurt recommended me to a local bike shop that could help. Also, he quickly got me prices for some Kevlar pants, almost got discourage until he price check to find out that they where on sale. Still couldn't get them but service is exceptional, great job! read more

I was pretty disappointed at the knowledge of the staff when I asked for a specific jacket (Alpinestars US 36/Euro 46) and size and was constantly corrected (incorrectly) that Euro 46 was US 56...I have multiple jackets and have ridden for years. This place has limited to zero selection of higher end riding jackets (higher end models from Alpinestars/Dainese), and carried mostly old models with extremely limited size selection. When my size wasn't available, they didn't offer to order one in my size. Needed new gloves as well, and still no help with selection/color and all the inventory (jackets and gloves) were mixed up and unorganized. Seems like this place has good reviews from mostly new riders who might appreciate the gear in stock if they're not looking for anything specific. Two stars for convenience if you're not picky, live close by, and need gear last minute. Otherwise, look elsewhere! I'll be buying from Revzilla and the Dainese store instead read more
