My husband's cousin and her husband are into their sport bikes so my husband thought it'd be a good idea to bring them here during there recent visit from Calgary. It was a little intimidating for me walking into a store where I knew nothing about, but it was actually interesting to walk by each aisle and seeing all the avid motorcyclists come in to buy things. It seemed like they had everything one would need: tires, apparel, helmets, gloves, oil, etc. The staff were all super friendly and helpful that we all felt comfortable. They weren't pushy salespeople at all. Very knowledgeable with the products and they were all avid motorcyclists as well. We were there for over an hour and the cousin and her husband both ended up buying new helmets. Those were on sale for $400 each, but apparently in Calgary, it's double the price so they were very happy to get such a deal. We're glad that we took them here. read more

My boyfriend bought me an Ed Hardy helmet because I deserved it. We showed up on a Monday to purchase it and they had just finished a special over the pass weekend and they gave me the 20% off even though the sale was over. so this happened over a month ago and i was excited to take my new helmet out for a ride on the back of my bf Ducati. I had only worn it once when I found out that I'm going to be a Mom. Now of course there's no way I'm going to ride while pregnant so I went back to Cycle Gear and asked them if it is possible that I return the helmet and replace it for one for my boyfriend. They were able to pull up my receipt because we are registered with them, told me that it would be no problem. The manager here is VERY knowledgeable about motorcycles and is always willing to help you as much as possible. I made the mistake of not listening to him the first time I came in and surprise, surprise.. he was right. The staff here is also quite knowledgeable - not to mention warm and inviting. They're always ready to help you with anything you need, not to mention give you deals. I've shopped here probably 4 times now and left with something every time. Their BILT products may not be the BEST OF THE BEST, but they're definitely decent and my BILT Helmet has been quite reliable for the last few months.. not to mention comfy! (and cool of course, the air flow is great through it). I've also got BILT gloves - and yes they're not the best quality, but they do suit their needs and hold up decently. Overall, they have a pretty wide selection here and I can't help but drool at all their full leathers.. One day I'm actually gonna say screw it and buy a suit... one day! I loved coming here when I was living in San Jose, CA. This is wear I was spoiled by be able to a pair of Dainese leather pants on clearance. I had my eye on the Jacket too, but had to think it over - since it was ONLY one, and in my size. It wasn't on sale though, so that made it quite expensive (or possibly it was on sale, since there was a rack of womens gear, all mixed brands. So after thinking about it, I went back the next day and bought it. I'm so thankful for the employee that helped me, since I had no idea that european sizing IS NOT the same as Dainese sizing (must be an Italian thing). Their customer service is great, and it's a HUGE store! I wish I needed more gear, but I definitely DON'T, not right now anyway. Because every time I used to go into that store, I didn't leave without a ton of stuff that I just couldn't live without. The only time I rode there was the first time. Ok, I'll admit it, Road Rider has far more selection, but Cycle Gear is no slouch in that regard either. More of a Sport Bike/Dirt Bike crowd it seems. Very friendly staff, more than happy to help you try out gear or find what you need. Easy to get to off of I280 and Meridian, and plenty of parking. Bought a Suomy helmet here and love it! Pros: Decent prices Workers there are extremely helpful and informative Lots of parking 15% off if you bring your MSF card on non sale or clearance items. Even if you don't bring your MSF card, they'll still give you the 15% off! Cons: Selection was good but not great. Couldn't find the helmet I came in for but they helped me pick out a different one and I have no complaints with it. Plentiful parking, they don't hassle or try to upsell, they have high end gear if you need it now and don't mind paying California taxes and a higher price than you can get from online. Good selection on helmets and full leathers and it's bigger than some of the other locations so you don't feel cramped when you're in there. They will always greet you when you enter or exit, if they aren't busy they will make the effort to ask if you need help, and if you make it to the register without being helped (which can happen if they are busy) they will apologize for it. Even though they offered to loan me a different style helmet, I needed that specific helmet for a special event that weekend. He has a lot of enthusiasm for riding, and is dedicated to the sport, which made the whole shopping experience a lot more fun. So I just got back to owning a scooter a few months ago and went to a couple of accessory shops in the San Jose area. First one, a smaller shop, was ok... then my buddy took me to Cycle Gear and I thought it was Nirvana. First off the store is always clean and the staff always courteous. I have always been greeted within seconds of walking into the store. Never left to just wander the aisles like a lost nomad. Questions are always answered honestly and intelligently even if I, as the customer, had no clue as to what they were talking about since the technology has changed since I last rode (Circa 1980). I bought a helmet last week and they got it in from another store in just 2 days. Well it didn't fit quite right so they ordered another from yet another store. It too was in within 2 days and fit well. Seems pretty trivial but so many stores take forever for special orders and or store transfers. A few weeks back, my wife wanted to get a set of riding gear and we went to cycle gear. My wife has limited English and frankly I can't STAND shopping with her because she is so picky. By luck of the draw Nicole, now had I read the past venomous posts about Nicole I probable would have said "No thanks" to her offer of help... Thank God I had not read the posts. Nicole worked with my wife to get her the proper pant, jacket, gloves and helmet explaining the differences between the items she suggested and taking the time to work with her WITHOUT growing frustrated by my wife's lack of proper English. Additionally I too have worked with Nicole and while her personality is a bit straight forward and to the point but that is what I want when I go into a store. I don;t need another best friend but a friendly person. It seems obvious that someone must have go a "no thanks I am not interested in going out with you" and decidedly made up several names and bash an employee that they dislike. Truly I don;t feel that is the purpose of Yelp. Perhaps that person or persons should spend mote time writing that kind of on bathroom stalls with their permanent marker I mean REALLY. And your need to use profanity..... tsk tsk tsk. grow up and BE A MAN. A "Gentleman" even. All in all this is a store I will frequent more and more as my new addiction grows. read more

Large selection of gear. As a new rider I received a 15% discount for taking/passing MSF course. Also, they're able to order from their catalog free of shipping charge and exchange as many times as you like if it doesn't fit (I ordered a jacket). The staff are very helpful group of guys who ride themselves and know alot about the gear. It is a bit pricey but that's because they carry the good brands, which are similarly priced online. 3-star reason: Reason for a 3-star review is actually because one of the managers, NICOLE IS A TOTAL BITCH. She is like an evil snake behind the counter, wasting both the customers' and the workers' time. My boyfriend and I came in to get a full set of gear and asked about pricing & MSF discounts and she tried everything possible to give us the highest price she could find, even though the other employees found the prices to be lower/ on discount. She even blamed the other Cycle Gear store for having "messed up/not updated" their prices because they should be the same across all stores. Also, when I ordered a different sized jacket as the one that arrived did not fit I came by to try it on and she got all the employees together & started asking why I paid before and now now and how it should be $5 more for the jacket but since I paid earlier she can't "correct" the mistake anymore. She kept nagging everyone when there was a line of customers and I overheard how much pain she was causing for all the other employees. She never cracks a smile and is very aggressive, providing horrible customer service and truly driving customers away. The three times that I've visited the store she has continued her attitude. I wish they'd just get rid of her. She didn't say anything to me about the jacket but if she did, I would have leaned over that counter and punched her in the face. read more

I spend a fair amount of money here but what happened yesterday is why I am writing this review. I own a Bilt modular bluetooth helmet that I love. A couple of weeks ago the release for the face shield broke off so I came here looking for a replacement part. I told the clerk what I was looking for and was told they did not have replacement parts but asked If I had the helmet with me. I did and he said "then I'll just replace the helmet with a new one". Yeah, I was shocked. Didn't even ask for a receipt. I walked out of there with a brand new helmet. I know a lot of places that say they warranty their products but these guys really do. read more

The sales guy was helpful and patient and providing helpful suggestion. I came back a couple of days later because I needed boots. Same guy helped out and honor the 15% discount again, even though it's supposed to be valid for a 1 time transaction only. Took my rear wheel from my 05 gsxr Bought brand new tire and they put it on backwards, I take it back with my front wheel as well to get a new tire upfront and they charged me for the mount when I went out of my way to remove my rear wheel AGAIN for a mistake they made... charged me anyways!
