My whole house carpet cleaning experience was extremely positive. Bob showed up when I was told he would. He was very pleasant, and thorough. We had placed much of the furniture on carpet sliders, and a few pieces were very heavy (I helped in those cases.) One of our rooms was highly packed with heavy furniture, and he had a great plan to strategically move things to get to all the carpet. As he was wrapping up, I asked if I could add a recliner chair that I had, that had never been cleaned. He added it to the invoice, and again, was very thorough in his cleaning. They didn't actually clean my carpet, but their guy showed up and said my floor wasn't cleared enough. Ok, fine, they could have told me it needed to be 100% clear of items before I blocked out my schedule. The guy also didn't bring a vacuum even though they confirmed in the appointment that they would vacuum it. Icing on the cake was that the machine he brought looked like a rug doctor you can rent from home depot. I ended up doing that and saved 80% on the cost, yippee! read more

They did excellent work cleaning my area rug. It'd been sitting in a basement unprotected, for several years and was not only dirty, but had a very musty odor. I'm happy to report that the dirt and odor are not completely gone! I've used D.A. Burns several times over the years and will continue to return to them for my rug cleaning needs. I've both dropped off rugs at their location for cleaning and had larger items picked up from my home. They always do good work and are honest with me about the likelihood of success with tricky stains/damage. For my most recent order, I ran into some scheduling challenges with my rug delivery and I really valued the way they worked with me on it. This is by far the only place to take rugs for cleaning and repair. Two other places nearly ruined our rugs and did shoddy work. DA Burns cleaned and re-backed 3 large 30 year old beautiful tufted rungs from IKEA and made them like new. They were shedding old backing adhesive (like sand) and we almost got rid of them! The work was of the highest quality and unbelievable. I cannot make a higher recommendation of any business. If you have older tufted rugs that need cleaning and restoration, this is the only place to go in the Seattle area. read more

Bringing my rugs to D.A. Burns was the worst customer experience of my life. Originally, I messaged via Yelp for a quote. I made it clear (as shown in photos) that two of my rugs are from Lebanon. No prob, says DA Burns, they'll clean them. I bring them in. Jim H. does my rug intake. He gets in a nice bit of mansplaining to me about how my rug is curled and I should take better care of it. I explain that it's very old and my father got it for me from Lebanon and that's it's handmade. He writes up the order for my rugs. The day before I'm set to pick it up, the cleaning department calls to saw, oops, Jim H. Messed up. This rug isn't one we should've cleaned. We cleaned it thinking it was a machine made rug (hmm, didn't I tell Jim it was handmade in Lebanon?) but it isn't, and as a result it's now covered in faint pink spots. No apology, but could be keep it another week to try to remove them? Sure. A few days later the same guy calls back- the dye migration isn't budging. I say I'll pick them up but I want to speak to the manager when I get there. I show up and who do I get? The cleaning department who called me twice (and still never apologized for their mistake). He explains over and over that he did his best and he thinks it's clean. Okay? Should I be impressed that you did the one thing your business is for? He refuses to apologize or back down about their mistake, so I ask to speak to his manager. This guy comes out with a photo taken "at intake" that shows pink spots. Funny, the photo I took the same day and sent to DA Burns for an estimate has no such spots. I tell him I'm flabbergasted that him, Jim, and the cleaning dept have all refused to apologize and instead just make the excuse that it's a rare type of rug. Almost as if I didn't tell Jim it was handmade... he says "I'll apologize" and then argues with me some more. He argues with me for a full 20 minutes, talking in circles about how the rugs are clean, how no one else would've cleaned this rug because of its fiber type (ok?) how no one would import this rug (yes, as I told Jim while he was busy talking over me, my father brought it home for me) before I just ask for my rugs so I can leave. D.A. Burns doesn't care about making the customer feel heard, appreciated, understood or cared for. Go elsewhere read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. My mom has been using them for decades and now I use them. I can't recall the name of the person on the phone but she is always super friendly and helpful. We always request Larry. He is so nice and does an amazing job. 2 of 2. The second Beautiful very old Antique Prayer rug I left with D.A. Burns with a prayer that it would not be damaged by their processes. Was not damaged and was cleaned adequately. Unlike the Antique Border, which did require a little more Knowledge to clean without further damage than they were capable of. Not Very knowledgable beyond the basic tasks. Luckily There are many better professional Cleaners in Seattle to choose from. Not even a teddy bear would I have cleaned by them again. We had a nasty, orange, hotpot oil stain in our area rug, not to mention multiple pet accidents in the past. We took our rug to D.A. Burns in Bellevue and the building was easily accessible with plenty of parking. We were given a quote with the pickup/dropoff discount and stipulations clearly laid out. The price seemed very reasonable though this was our first time getting a rug cleaned. After a week or so we got a notification that the rug was ready for pickup. They helped us load the rug into the car - overall the drop off and pickup process were seamless. Once we unrolled our rug at home we were expecting some residue but it was like new. No change to my review of DA Burns but an update just because I've gotten a lot of messages asking - the other rug cleaning company I used (with great experiences, and plenty of good experiences since) - is Fuzzy Wuzzy in Ballard. They've washed 3 wool and 1 flat woven cotton rug of mine, and their rug pickup & drop-off has been great as well. I asked once how they make sure colors don't bleed or run, sexually with vintage rugs, and they said they use only cool water until they've tested cleaning products for colorfastness on the rug. Would definitely recommend them, and do let them know if a particular rug you'd like them to clean is vintage or unknown fiber makeup or what have you. read more

Thank you to the president, James. I thought there had been damage to our rug, and James offered to replace it after we compared his pre-work photos to our post-work photos. We disagreed a bit on what our photos showed, and because I'd had a previous experience of the company temporarily misplacing a rug (which they later found, of course), he offered to pay for a replacement as a demonstration of goodwill. But it didn't stop there, he was the "whole package" - professional, friendly, prompt. In fact he came earlier than he was originally scheduled - which we all know is a plus. He phoned me in the morning to let me know the "window" of when he would be at the house and told me if there were any problems I could phone him back at the number he called on. DA Burns was out to help fix whatever was done by Stanley Steamer the past visit. I am not sure what SS used but it totally messed up our hall carpet. Small tea spots became big dirt areas. Anyway, Larry from Ballard was very kind and very professional. He made a big dent in the issue, but was unable to remove whatever it was that the used on the carpet. I have a huge problem with vendors that are entirely opaque about their pricing upfront and expect customers to be okay with it when they're served huge invoices after the job is done. I ordered cleaning services for my apartment, received no indication about how much this cleaning would be, not even an estimated range. Two days after the work was done I received an invoice for $600 for cleaning a 1-bedroom carpet, one sofa, and some other cushions What upset me further was the tone used by their customer service reps when I called them to discuss my invoice. I had to take a couch ottoman into DA Burns to get cleaned after my cat decided to treat it as a litter box. The employee who met with me let me know what to expect and explained very carefully the difficulty with cat urine (that it also bleaches the fabric as well as discoloring it) so I felt prepared that the ottoman would not come back looking like new. I was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up a week later - it looks fantastic! I wish I had taken a before picture to show the difference but you can use your imagination. All employees I interacted with were knowledgeable and friendly, the service was finished on time, the pricing was very reasonable, and the results were great.
