I really like D'Amore's Pizza. For some reason it just hits for me. It's not Domino's, it's not Pizza Hut... it's just good pizza. Nothing complicated, just something I actually enjoy eating. Like most pizza though, it's best fresh. Don't let it sit too long. I've had their pizza, their pasta, and their hot wings. Pasta was good, wings were how I like them--super wet but still cooked right. Service is usually nice too. The guys behind the counter seem like they actually enjoy what they do and are genuinely kind. It's not a hole-in-the-wall pizza spot, but it is on the smaller side inside. I used to be a pretty frequent customer of the Westwood location that is long since gone . After having a swim lesson in the valley I remember that there was a location close by and had the chance to check it out tonight. I ordered my standard pepperoni slice and sausage and mushroom slice and this location did not disappoint !!! D'amores serves the best slices in LA hands-down. The pizza has so many toppings on it and also a variety of toppings. They are not stingy at all! Lots of seasoning and lots of flavor. The pizzas run around $20-25 depending on the size. This is an unassuming place on Ventura Blvd across from the LA fitness. There is a small lot near by to park but I decided to walk in. There is also street parking. The place is a normal mom and pop looking type place. It has tables chairs and pictures on the wall of the celebrities that D'Amore has met. This includes Dwayne Johnson the Rock! How cool! Pizza arrived cold, burnt on the crust and salad came with a different dressing than requested (online). Called in to let them know the pizza arrived cold and looked like it was cooked hours before. We live under 2 miles away from where the pizza was made and it was 98 degrees today, it makes no sense that the pizza would arrive so cold and plastic looking if it was made fresh. The gentleman with whom I spoke kept calling me "my friend". When I told him the problem he kept telling me that's impossible because they make their pizzas the same way every time, as if that is a direct solution to my issue. I'm not interested in what they allegedly usually do, I'm interested in wtf happened to my pizza. After 15 mins going back and forth and getting nowhere he offered to redeliver a new pizza to us but only if the original pizza can be returned to him, fully intact. 4 of us were eating this pizza and each grabbed a piece and noticed how cold it was while eating it. Because we were starved we warmed the slices and ate them. When I learned the dressing was incorrect and the pizza arrived old and cold I decided to call in. I've never heard of a restaurant asking for the food back. Maybe they reuse the pizza and maybe that's how we got a cold one, it was probably someone's return from earlier in the day. "My friend" kept saying he can't do anything to help because he is not authorized to and there is no manager available. Called slice who their store recommends to for delivery. They called the store and "my friend" gave the same bs about how their pizza is perfect and anyone complaining clearly has personal issues. Then the restaurant was magically able to give me a monetary gift of $4 when "my friend" said he couldn't do anything. $4 off a $42 cold/burnt pizza that sat out all day and a salad with the dressing we didn't want. I'm sure they don't care but both slice delivery and d'amore's pizza have both lost a customer. They may not care now or ever but when the time comes where customer service matters again and will be the difference between keeping your downs open or closed, remember these 1 star reviews. read more
