What an absolute angel behind the counter, a true dedicated baker who loves what she does. These donuts were by far the best I've ever had in my life, and she was so sweet to give me some free samples. God bless her, and God bless this donut shop!

Excellent place to experience the entire essence of a Chicago Doughnut. Their service is amazing they are definitely a team that has the blueprint for togetherness and you can always get an encouraging work to help you along the way. Toppings are real fruit and doughnuts are soft fluffy delicious and delicious. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY STOP BY.

Ok, well, I am here to say yes yes and yes! I was skeptical about this place, I figured it was going to be ok, regular donuts but nope nope nope! This is my new donut spot! Now I haven't tried the cake old fashioned donuts, just yeast but when I say this is the best donut I mean what I said!!! The place is small and looks like it is closed but it is not and today when I went in I was blessed with amazing customer service and with an original glazed donut. Donut was so good I ordered a Dozen donuts. I will say all of the fruit glazed donuts were amazing. Lemon and orange would be my least favorite but they were still good! Strawberry has a choke hold on me, wild berry so full of flavor, blue berry and raspberry are yummy too.Caramel and chocolate was good as well and I had 2 more glaze. Look these donuts disappear! Hands down I will recommend! Stay tuned for the cake donuts!

This is my absolute favorite spot in Chicago to get donuts. They are fresh, made daily, and the homemade preserves are out of this world. This place is Black-Owned and Mrs. Lolita is the kindest person you'll ever meet. It's a small, to-go spot, but the experience is awesome!

OMG let me tell y'all about this place. Before heading back home, I stopped by D&D place to try out their donuts. You can smell the fresh dough and fruit when you walk in. The menu has so many options including the infamous Apple Fritter. The Apple fritter was literally bigger than my face. I had to get it. Also, I got a strawberry donut, raspberry donut, and donut holes. They were amazing. In addition to the donuts, the service was one of a kind. I forgot the woman's name but she knew I was a newbie. She walked through the whole menu and gave me some donut holes to try. Her recommendations of donuts was extremely helpful. She has a warming and welcoming soul that anyone would love. I would come back simply for feeling like one of their own. This is a wonderful business and I wish them much success.

This little gem is right in the center of an area that I frequent...true test of my will power! LOL Ive had all of the donut flavors, which are made fresh every morning They melt in your mouth. This place is everything and all that. Hands down the best donuts I have every had in my whole entire life. Their famous apple fritter is not up and I can't wait to eat it. Plus, they're customer service is excellent, whether you're in person or over the phone. Definitely returning for more, but this time folks will have to buy their own, because I'm not sharing my next batch of goodies. Lol. read more

What can I say, these are the freshest donuts in Chicago. I love the love and attention that the owners put into each batch and their community. It's becoming a rare trait to get homemade goodies from mom-and-pop spots these days. The fruit donuts are fresh and even the glazes are made from real fruit, which is so refreshing! Drove from Lincoln Park to get their donuts and fritters. Fresh, homemade, quality, worth the drive. Great people, great service. Get their apple fritter, HUGE and delicious. If you're in this area, please stop by this place for the donuts. They're unreal. The owner, sweetest lady in the world, and her husband I'm assuming own it. He's also a great guy. It's in an old Tasty Freeze shack. New customers, 1st taste is on the house. I've had the glazed, Carmel, strawberry, and lemon glazed donuts. They're cake donut holes are also delicious. They use real lemons, caramel and strawberries in the glaze. Breakfast sandwiches with homemade croissants are in the future along with other speciality donuts with butterfinger they said. They also make a 6 inch apple fritter and chocolate donut! read more

I've been craving donuts for about 2 months. Finally got a chance to stop before closing. I went in for 1 old fashioned buttermilk. It was so yummy that I needed the apple fritter too. Just went in the morning and the place is everything people on here are saying. The owner asked me if it was my first time. I sheepishly agreed and said I drove past on the way to work, but finally stopped. The owner gave me a free glazed donut and watched with delight as I took a bite and she saw my face light up. I tried the glazed and the caramel, but they were behind and didn't have the cake done yet so I couldn't try an old fashioned. I'm hooked. Owner is very nice and food is amazing. Next time I bring doughnuts for work, I'm going to treat everybody to a dozen. read more

I have been to D&D around 4 times. They have one of the best donuts. The glazed donuts is to die for. They are similar to Old Fashioned Donuts in Roseland. But fellow Southsider's we now have a closer place to purchase one of the most delicious donuts in Chicago! The owner is so nice. Yesterday she gave us a sample of the cake glazed donut hole. OMG, was that good, I was sorry I had already purchased my 6 donuts. Then she showed us the donut bun her husband developed. I can't wait to have a hamburger or sausage sandwich made on one of these rolls. Please support this fantastic additions to the Southside of Chicago! You won't be disappointed. read more

Absolutely the best donut shop! I thought DD had donuts...D&D's Place has fluffy homemade sweets that you can't compare to other spots! I tried their apple fritters too! Let me tell you! It's so worth it! It was fun sharing that huge thing with my family! It has pieces of apples and not to much glaze. The owner is very warm and welcoming! She gave us a rundown on her sweets. It felt as if we were guest in her kitchen! God bless her and her business! You get more than just your sweet tooth craving! read more

Went here on a whim after reading some Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed!!! I ordered 2 dozen assorted donuts for a meeting at work. We discussed the donuts more than the agenda. They were still warm and so soft and fresh...The Donuts were delicious!!! The lady was soooooo sweet and I left that place feeling blessed!! read more

I love it! The shop may lack space, but the service makes up for it. The owners are nice and the donuts are spectacular. Now the food is just filling! I recommend EVERYONE to try their burger combo. It's worth the price, trust me. read more

First time here. Excited to try the Famous D&D's doughnuts. OMG,when I tell you they are the bomb, believe me you! I will never go anywhere else. Very warm and friendly greeting once you walk in the door, and welcoming which you don't get in most places. I only went in for the Banana flavored doughnuts, but came out with two bags, now what does that tell you. I highly recommend D&D's, go and experience the outpouring love, it's worth every penny! read more

Decent small black owned business. Awesome, which I support. However the bakery selection was scarce looked like nothing was in stock. Ok, the actual donut...I tried strawberry the frosting was good but way too sweet. The actual donut was flat, gooey, and doughy almost like it was undercooked. Honestly I rather go to dunkin donuts about the same price but way better. read more

Best donuts in the world! Original glaze all the way. The owners are the friendliest and most fun loving, enthusiastic people I've ever met. You definitely feel like family when you're there and we were so fortunate enough to get to try some very fresh donuts on the house before ordering a bunch to take with us on the road. Great donuts!! Remind me of dat donuts on 83rd & cottage grove but a little better tasting. Customer service wasn't bad. The owner was there a young lady mentioned that they were meeting with Fox News. She gave me & another guy a free sample because we were new customers. My only complaint that another lady came in & jumped in front of us (me & the other guy) the owner started immediately helping her. They were low on donuts already so to let another person jump in front of us saying because she knew what she wanted doesn't make it right. The irony in the whole thing the lady was just kinda guessing to see what to get she didn't really know what she wanted. The owner help her pick flavors & she bought a dozen of donuts. Overall pretty decent experience. read more

These are not morning people. Saturday at 8:30am and only 10% of their bakery menu had been made. She iced donuts on the spot for me while upselling fritters that weren't even close to coming out of the oven. read more

The Pistachio Cake Donut for some reason was texturally firmer and drier than the other. Unfortunately, the fried donuts were all misses. The dough was just really dense and none of the toppings really hit. The Glazed Donut just made me sad that the dough was bad and the bacon on the Maple Bacon Donut wasn't crispy, so you got a cold, chewy, greasy bite that wasn't super pleasant. The chopped dough pieces in the Apple Fritter were also oddly firm instead of soft. For a place with rave reviews, I was pretty bummed by the donuts, but maybe the fried chicken sandwich is where it's at.

I recently ordered over 5 dozen doughnuts and it came in 6 boxes and a small bag. First problem: they don't deliver. Second and bigger problem is that they don't pack big orders so you can carry them out. How the heck am I going to carry 6 boxes and a bag of donuts??? Maybe they want to keep their business "small". A simple brown bag or even something to tie the boxes together would have been very helpful.

The menu gave a hibachi vibe, they had teriyaki bowls, unwich sushi rolls, soup, and specialty drinks but no fountain or canned drinks. I wanted the salmon and everyone else was getting chicken but that didn't happen because they were out of salmon. Really wasn't feeling the other options, so we canceled our order and left. We didn't have reservations, but I believe they take them. Luckily we were seated right away without any issues. They are known for their Asian cuisine. Think Taiwanese fried chicken sandwiches, Japanese mochi donuts, ube, vietnamese coffee, etc. What I tried: - Mochi donuts (1 strawberry, 1 chocolate) ; so fresh! 10/10 - Strawberry/peach lemonade boba; Extremely sweet, but good! Staff was super kind from start to finish. The only downside (which is big) - it is pretty dirty around the restaurant. With all the white, you can unfortunately spot things quicker. A deep clean would do the trick!

The line is almost always crazy long. Pro tip: place an online order right when they open in the morning so you can skip the line for pickup. I went close to 2pm, so I only waited about 15 minutes for brunch, but most of the pastries and breakfast sandwiches were already sold out. ＊Matcha Pandan Eclair $9.5 ** The biggest éclair I've ever seen! You get a mini version on their tasting menu, but the bakery sells this full-size beauty. My favorite pastry from the haul! I loved the crunch from the toasted genmai and the light pandan whipped cream. I just wish the matcha flavor was stronger. ＊Black Truffle Croissant $16 * Every bite was packed with black truffle flavor, and with fresh shaved black truffle, truffle oil, and a premium truffle filling, I could see why it costs $16. You also get a mini version on the tasting menu. But I wasn't a fan of the crunchy pearl sugar on top. I ended up shaving it all off. ＊Ube & Huckleberry Basque Cake $9 Loved the little powdered sun stencil inspired by the Philippine flag. It was filled with ube pastry cream and huckleberry. Personally, I found the filling too sweet for my liking. ＊Filipino Breakfast $20 ** I originally wanted their signature longanisa breakfast sandwich, but it was sold out, so the staff recommended this instead. When I checked the website in line, they still had same-day afternoon pickup slots available (~2PM) with a great selection (including the black truffle croissants, eclairs, and muffin tops). The interior is nicely air-conditioned, and they offer outdoor seating. The inside can get quite cramped with crowds waiting for tables and orders. After my two-hour wait, I was told at the register that the black truffle croissant was sold out. However, I kept seeing fresh trays of them being brought out--presumably to fulfill online orders. It was incredibly disappointing to wait that long outside only to miss out on a signature item that was in front of my eyes. Breakfast Sandwich-- Loaded with longanisa, hash brown, eggs, and cheese. The eggs were incredibly fluffy, the longanisa was juicy and flavorful, and the hash brown was super crispy and golden brown (no white interior to be seen) I tried the ube and huckleberry basque cake, matcha pandan eclair, and foie gras danish. The basque cake was the standout pastry-- moist with crisp edges and a beautiful blend of flavors. The Kaffe Calamansi and Manila Fog featured incredibly unique profiles and disappeared in minutes. Note: If you choose to dine in, you can luckily order additional items from your table if you want to try more!

The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.

SO GOOD! Donuts are light and fluffy with a variety of toppings that take them up a notch. Traditional glaze is excellent but the fruit glazed toppings are the real winners here: strawberry, blueberry, raspberry (and more). The glaze tasted so fresh. Now the apple fritter-get one! It's that simple. Bursting with flavor and real apple, you'll love it and its HUGE. I got mine topped with pecans. Not only are the donuts delicious but the owners are phenomenal! Incredibly nice, kind and overall great. They greeted me with a small sample of their award winning donut, amazing! You can tell they love what they do because they were both exceptional with an energy that had me walking out with a smile. I've driven by this place many times I had no idea what amazing baked goods are produced here! Also, I somehow missed the "cash only" signs but there is a Chase next door if you need it. These are the Best Donuts... Ever!!! I have had lots of donuts, countrywide, from many famous and not so famous places. But none match the flavor, quality, freshness and awesomeness of the love you taste in every bite of D&D's! This is truly love at first bite material here! And they stay soft and fresh for longer than any competitors I've had. The owners are wonderful and such a pleasure to speak with. You can feel their love and dedication to insuring your enjoyment of their pastries. The best service indeed! Get there before noon for the most selection. Or call ahead for the best fritter. The donuts sizes are larger than average as well, so you fill up quick. But your taste buds prevent you from controlling yourself. So get a whole dozen! I can't pass the area without going in. My wife and I agreed (which rarely happens with food btw), D&D's offers the best glazed donut that we've ever tasted. We are well traveled and always try local bakeries when out of town. We are seriously considering having their donuts instead of cake for our vow renewal. Other favorites are caramel, fresh strawberry, and their ginormous apple fritter (on par if not better than the infamous Old Fashioned in Roseland). Although I would frequent this place based on the quality of their goods alone, the owners are genuinely great people, too. If they were located in a busier area, I guarantee they'd be in the better-known ranks of Stan's, Doughnut Vault, etc. Must visit. You would be hard-pressed to find a better yeast-raised donut anywhere. We haven't. read more

Zero Stars Zero Customer Service I was charged 32Dollars for 6 donuts and 2 juices I told the cashier that she can put the juices back and she told me I didn't have enough money to purchase so she offered me the same two juices but I declined because if you are charging 4.50 for a 13 oz juice you need to keep it went to the corner store and that cashier told me that the other owner cam to their store and made a issue over one penny left behind I love my black people but I'll never return there again I'll stick to Old Fashion In Roseland sometimes we forget one or two good reviews doesn't mean you can rob and verbally assault your customers FYI I could have brought everything behind the counter but why #Veryrudecockyoverratedspot read more

I felt compelled to Yelp for this lovely donut shop. My boys and I saw it on Facebook and decided to try it and I'm glad we did! The donuts are nothing short of delicious! They are airy and lovely and have the most amazing fruit glazes on top made from fresh fruit. (I tried to get a pic of our dozen but my boys got to them first.) Not only are the donuts fantastic but the husband and wife owner team are two beautiful souls who always have a kind word and I love chatting with them when I've been in there. They give back to the community and give students free donuts for good grades. They are just really lovely, compassionate people. Their company is just as nice as the donuts. I ordered 2 apple fritters; one with pecans and the other without them. Each was as huge as a dinner plate! I could SEE apple chunks in them before even diving in for a bite, and the smell of sweet cinnamony goodness made my car smell like autumn in heaven. The flavor is out of this world. And to top it all off, the owners gave service with a smile and an encouraging word for the day. Walking into their establishment felt like coming home. I tried the original glazed and the fresh strawberry donuts, and they were both AMAZING! Noticeably fresh and very tasty, I look forward to going back for more. The lady at the register, Lolita, has a very friendly disposition and was patient with my indecisiveness. They have so many delicious looking varieties that it was hard to choose. I also received a sample of the buttermilk cake donut hole and it was the perfect combination of crisp on the outside and unbelievably soft on the inside. This is now my favorite donut shop! These donuts are divinely delicious. I bought a dozen and my family also loved them. The real fruit used, and the melt in your mouth dough is what sealed the deal. I met the owners (husband and wife) while I was in there today and they are nice. Had a conversation with the wife and she's so warm and friendly. I learned so much about them and what they do for the community, I am more than happy to frequent an establishment that gives back. My first time going to this hidden gem and I was blown away. The services at his shop is one of a kind you are greeted by the owners. They have a beautiful set up and the donuts are so fresh. Me and my husband Stopped by D&D's place for the first time because we had a sweet tooth. We went in with the intensions of buying a donut a piece but walked out with a box full of all the flavored donuts! I love donuts, it's a shame I had no idea there was an amazing shop right in my neighborhood. These are the best glazed donuts I've ever had, you can definitely taste the difference of fresh fruit in the glaze.
